Production of Functional Materials Derived from Regenerated Silk Fibroin by Utilizing 3D Printing and Biomimetic Enzyme-induced Mineralization

Critical-sized bone defects, commonly encountered in clinical orthopedic surgery, present a significant challenge. One of the promising solutions is to prepare synthetic bone substitute materials with precise structural control, mechanical compatibility, and enhanced osteogenic induction performance, nevertheless the successful preparation of such materials remains difficult. In this study, a two-step technique,integrating an extrusion-based printing process with biomimetic mineralization induced by alkaline phosphatase(ALP), was developed. Initially,a pre-cured hydrogel of regenerated silk fibroin(RSF) with a small quantity of hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC) and ALP was prepared through heating the mixed aqueous solution. This pre-cured hydrogel demonstrated thixotropic property and could be directly extruded into predetermined structures through a 3D-printer. Subsequently, the 3D-printed RSF-based materials with ALP underwent biomimetic in situ mineralization in calcium glycerophosphate(Ca-GP) mineralizing solution, utilizing the polymer chains of RSF as templates and ALP as a trigger for cleaving phosphate bonds of Ca-GP. The resulting 3D-printed RSF-mineral composites including hydrogel and sponge possessed adjustable compression modulus of megapascal grade and variable hydroxyapatite content, which could be controlled by manipulating the duration of the mineralization ***, these 3D-printed RSF-mineral composites demonstrated non-cytotoxicity towards rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Therefore, they may hold great potential for applications involving the replacement of tissues characterized by osteoinductivity and intricate structures.

Spatiotemporal Distributions of Bacterioplankton Communities in the Qiantang River(Hangzhou Section),China

The spatial and temporal distribution of bacterioplankton communities plays a vital role in understanding the ecological dynamics and health of aquatic *** this study,we conducted a comprehensive investigation of the bacterioplankton communities in the Qiantang River(Hangzhou section).Water samples were collected quarterly from seven sites over a one-year *** and chemical parameters,including dissolved oxygen(DO),water temperature(WT),chemical oxygen demand(COD),nitrite(NO_(2)^(-)),active phosphate(PO_(4)^(3-))and other indices were *** this study,theαdiversity,βdiversity and abundance differences of bacterial communities were investigated using 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing *** spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and main driving factors of the bacterioplankton community structure and diversity were *** results showed that a total of 57 phyla were detected in the bacterioplankton community,among which Proteobacteria and Actinomycetes were the two dominant groups with the highest relative *** results of PCoA based on Bray-Curtis distance showed that the sampling season had a slightly greater effect on the changes in bacterioplankton community structure in the Qiantang *** and partial Mantel test showed that environmental variables(Mantel r=0.6739,P<0.0001;partial Mantel r=0.507,P=0.0001)were more important than geographical distance(Mantel r=0.5322,P<0.001;partial Mantel r=0.1563,P=0.001).The distance attenuation model showed that there was significant distance attenuation in all four seasons,and the maximum limit of bacterial community diffusion was found in *** analysis showed that nine environmental factors,including COD,WT and DO,significantly affected community distribution(P<0.05).This study provides valuable insights into the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of bacterioplankton communities,shedding light on their ecological roles in the Qiantang R

Seawater battery is an advanced energy storage system that enables conversion of chemical energy to electricity by consuming metals,dissolved oxygen and seawater in anode,cathode and electrolyte,***,the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity and stability of electrocatalysts can be easily deactivated due to the severe Cl~-permeation and corrosion in seawater ***,we developed a structural buffer engineering strategy by spontaneously anchoring Cl~-intoα-Co(OH)_(2) as efficient and stable ORR electrocatalysts,in which the ultrathinα-Co(OH)_(2) nanosheets were synthesized using an ultrafast solution high-temperature shock(SHTS)*** large lattice space(~0.8 nm)of layeredα-Co(OH)_(2) ensured the spontaneously penetration of Cl~-into the lattice structure and replaced part of OH~-to formα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_*** continuous leaching and compensating of saturated Cl inα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x could enhance the Cl~-corrosion resistance and modulate electronic structure of Co metallic sites,thus improving the ORR electrocatalytic activity and stability in seawater ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x seawater batteries display superior onset and half-wave potentials of 0.71 and 0.66 V,respectively,which are much better than the counterparts ofα-Co(OH)_(2) and ofβ-Co(OH)_(2) with no Cl~-penetrating and no buffer ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x-based seawater batteries display stable open-circuit potential of 1.69 V and outstanding specific capacity of 1345 mAh·g^(-1).

Establishment and evaluation of a prognostic model for patients with unresectable gastric cancer liver metastases

Probing the peripheral self-generated magnetic field distribution in laser-plasma magnetic reconnection with Martin-Puplett interferometer polarimeter

Magnetic reconnection of the self-generated magnetic fields in laser-plasma interaction is an important laboratory method for modeling high-energy density astronomical and astrophysical *** use the Martin-Puplett interferometer(MPI)polarimeter to probe the peripheral magnetic fields generated in the common magnetic reconnection configuration,two separated coplanar plane targets,in laser-target *** introduce a new method that can obtain polarization information from the interference pattern instead of the sinusoidal function fitting of the intensity.A bidirectional magnetic field is observed from the side view,which is consistent with the magneto-hydro-dynamical(MHD)simulation results of self-generated magnetic field *** find that the cancellation of reverse magnetic fields after averaging and integration along the observing direction could reduce the magnetic field strength by one to two orders of *** indicates that imaging resolution can significantly affect the accuracy of measured magnetic field strength.

Effects of interfacial buffering layer on imprint and domain switching dynamics in Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)thin-film heterostructures

Interfacial engineering is important for ferroelectric thin-film heterostructures because of the modulation of boundary conditions of the spontaneous polarizations and their switching behaviors,which are essential for ferroelectric *** this work,we study the effects of interfacial buffering layer,5-nm-thick SrTiO_(3)(STO),on the imprint and domain switching of epitaxial Pt/Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)/SrRuO_(3)(SRO)thin-film heterostructures and *** buffering the ultrathin SrTiO_(3) layer at the Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)surface,the imprint effect can be dramatically alleviated as observed in the piezoresponse force microscopy(PFM)-measured domain structures and polarization–electric field hysteresis loops in thin-film ***,when the SrTiO_(3)layer is buffered at the Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)/SrRuO_(3)interface,the imprint effect is slightly *** phenomena are explained based on the band alignments among the Pt and SrRuO_(3)electrodes and the Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)layer associated with the existence of oxygen vacancies in the SrTiO_(3) *** the reduction of imprint effect,the domain switching dynamics are also improved in the SrTiO_(3)-buffered Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)capacitor,in which the switching activation field is decreased by about 45.3%in comparison with that of the pristine *** results facilitate the design and optimization of ferroelectric devices with the improvements in domain configurations,switching behaviors and band alignments.

Improvement of impact properties of Al-Si-Mg alloy via solution treatment and joint modification with Sr and La

An effort to obtain superior impact properties for Al-7Si-0.35 Mg alloy is presented,where modification with 0.02 wt% Sr and 0.1 wt% La as well as solution treatment was jointly *** samples were solution treated at 535℃ for 15 min to 12 *** microstructure,fracture mechanism,and their correlation with the impact properties of the alloy were studied in detail mainly through optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and oscillography impact *** results show that the addition of Sr and La refined the eutectic Si particles significantly from~ 2.05 μm(modified with Sr alone) to~ 0.75 μm in as-cast microstructure,leading to a very homogeneous distribution of spheroidized Si particles in the alloy solution treated at 535℃ for 8 *** alloy exhibits excellent impact toughness up to 75 J·cm^(-2),which is much higher than the maximum impact toughness of the alloys modified by Sr alone(~ 46 J·cm^(-2)).The major reason for this remarkable increase in the impact property is the dramatic increase in crack initiation *** dispersoid-free zones(DFZs)near the eutectic regions mainly consist of the ductile Al-matrix,which exhibits excellent *** ductile Al-matrix of the DFZs hinders the crack propagation,resulting in a significant increase in crack propagation energy.

BACKGROUND Drug-induced liver injury(DILI)is one of the most common adverse events of medication use,and its incidence is ***,early detection of DILI is a crucial challenge due to a lack of biomarkers and noninvasive *** To identify salivary metabolic biomarkers of DILI for the future development of noninvasive diagnostic *** Saliva samples from 31 DILI patients and 35 healthy controls(HCs)were subjected to untargeted metabolomics using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass *** analyses,including partial least squares-discriminant analysis modeling,t tests and weighted metabolite coexpression network analysis(WMCNA),were conducted to identify key differentially expressed metabolites(DEMs)and metabolite *** we utilized least absolute shrinkage and selection operato and random fores analyses for biomarker *** use of each metabolite and metabolite set to detect DILI was evaluated with area under the receiver operating characteristic *** We found 247 differentially expressed salivary metabolites between the DILI group and the HC *** WMCNA,we identified a set of 8 DEMs closely related to liver injury for further prediction ***,the distinct separation of DILI patients and HCs was achieved with five metabolites,namely,12-hydroxydodecanoic acid,3-hydroxydecanoic acid,tetradecanedioic acid,hypoxanthine,and inosine(area under the curve:0.733-1).CONCLUSION Salivary metabolomics revealed previously unreported metabolic alterations and diagnostic biomarkers in the saliva of DILI *** study may provide a potentially feasible and noninvasive diagnostic method for DILI,but further validation is needed.

Access to Enantioenriched Allylic Alcohols via Peptide-Mimic Phosphonium Salt-Catalyzed Asymmetric Aerobic Hydroxylation

The development of catalytic asymmetric methods that enable access to value-added functionalities or structures,exemplified by allylic alcohols,is a highly interesting yet challenging topic from both academic and industrial ***,before recent advances in chemical catalysis,there were scarce protocols toward constructing enantioenriched tertiary allylic alcohol *** this context,peptide-mimic phosphonium salts were found to be highly efficient in catalytic asymmetricα-hydroxylation ofα,β-unsaturated and/orβ,Y-unsaturated compounds with satisfactory regio-and stereochemical outcomes(up to 97%yield and 95%ee).This methodology tolerates a broad array of substrates and thus provides an expeditious and unified platform for the assembly of enantioenriched tertiary allylic alcohols by avoiding the use of additional reductants and expensive metal ***,the power of this protocol is enlarged by simple conditions and the use of air as a source of hydroxyl functionality.
