Resolving the developmental mechanisms of cardiac microthrombosis of SARS-CoV-2 based on single-cell transcriptome analysis

The coronavirus disease 2019（COVID-19） outbreak caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2（SARS-CoV-2） developed into a global health emergency. Systemic microthrombus caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection is a common complication in patients with COVID-19. Cardiac microthrombosis as a complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection is the primary cause of cardiac injury and death in patietns with severe COVID-19. In this study, we performed single-cell sequencing analysis of the right ventricular free wall tissue from healthy donors,patients who died during the hypercoagulable period of characteristic coagulation abnormality（CAC）, and patients who died during the fibrinolytic period of CAC. We collected 61,187 cells enriched in 24 immune cell subsets and 13 cardiac-resident cell subsets. We found that in the course of SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, MYO1EhighRASGEF1Bhighmonocyte-derived macrophages promoted hyperactivation of the immune system and initiated the extrinsic coagulation pathway by activating chemokines CCL3, CCL5. This series of events is the main cause of cardiac microthrombi following SARS-CoV-2 infection. In a SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, excessive immune activation is accompanied by an increase in cellular iron content, which in turn promotes oxidative stress and intensifies intercellular competition. This induces cells to alter their metabolic environment, resulting in increased sugar uptake via the glycosaminoglycan synthesis pathway. In addition, high levels of reactive oxygen species generated by elevated iron levels promote increased endogenous malondialdehyde synthesis in a subpopulation of cardiac endothelial cells. This exacerbates endothelial cell dysfunction and exacerbates the coagulopathy process.

Low-cost and fluoride-free synthesis of MFI zeolite nanosheets with enhanced stability for benzene alkylation with ethanol

Zeolite nanosheets with a short b-axis thickness are highly desirable in lots of catalytic reactions due to their reduced diffusion resistance. Nevertheless, conventional synthesis methods usually require expensive structure-directing agents(SDAs), pricey raw materials, and eco-unfriendly fluorine-containing additives. Here, we contributed a cost-effective and fluoride-free synthesis method for synthesizing high-quality MFI zeolite nanosheets through a Silicalite-1(Sil-1) seed suspension and urea cooperative strategy, only with inexpensive colloidal silica as the Si source. Our approach was effective for synthesizing both Sil-1 and aluminum-containing ZSM-5 nanosheets. By optimizing key synthesis parameters,including seed aging time, seed quantity, and urea concentration, we achieved precise control over the crystal face aspect ratio and b-axis thickness. We also revealed a non-classical oriented nanosheet growth mechanism, where Sil-1 seeds induced the formation of quasi-ordered precursor particles, and the(010)crystal planes of these particles facilitated urea adsorption, thereby promoting c-axis-oriented *** obtained ZSM-5 nanosheets exhibited exceptional catalytic performance in the benzene alkylation with ethanol, maintaining stability for over 500 h, which is 5 times longer than traditional ZSM-5 catalysts. Furthermore, large-scale production of ZSM-5 nanosheets was successfully carried out in a 3 L highpressure autoclave, yielding samples consistent with those from laboratory-scale synthesis. This work marks a significant step forward in the sustainable and efficient production of MFI nanosheets using inexpensive and environmentally friendly raw materials, offering the broad applicability in catalysis.

Flexible molecules dedicate to release strain of inverted inorganic perovskite solar cell

The tensile strain in inorganic perovskite films induced by thermal annealing is one of the primary factors contributing to the inefficiency and instability of inorganic perovskite solar cells （IPSCs）,which reduces the defect formation ***,a flexible molecule 5-maleimidovaleric acid （5-MVA） was introduced as a strain buffer to release the residual strain of *** anhydride and carboxyl groups in 5-MVA interact strongly with the uncoordinated Pb2+through Lewis acid-base reaction,thus tightly“pull”the perovskite *** in-between soft carbon chain increased the structural flexibility of CsPbI2.85Br0.15perovskite materials,which effectively relieved the intrinsic internal strain of CsPbI2.85Br0.15,resisted the corrosion of external strain,and also reduced the formation of defects such as VIand *** addition,the introduction of 5-MVA improved crystal quality,passivated residual defects,and narrowed energy level ***,power conversion efficiency （PCE） of NiOxbased inverted IPSCs increased from 19.25% to 20.82% with the open-circuit voltage enhanced from 1.164 V to 1.230 *** release of strain also improved the stability of CsPbI2.85Br0.15perovskite films and devices.

Resolution limit of mode-localised sensors

In recent years, the mode localisation phenomenon of weakly coupled resonators has been successfully utilised to improve the sensitivity of microelectromechanical system(MEMS) sensors. However,controversy remians about the resolution limits of mode-localised sensors. This paper asks two questions of the community: what are the resolution limits of the mode-localised sensors, and can the resolution improvement be obtained using mode-localised sensing? To answer these questions, we report a series of resolution models of mode-localised sensors. We conclude that mode-localised sensing can realise a higher measuring resolution by orders of magnitude when more than three resonators are weakly coupled, and this will lay the theoretical foundation for a breakthrough for the MEMS sensors industry.

Sensitive study of the long and short surface wave-induced vertical mixing in a wave-circulation coupled model

The previous studies by the MASNUM research team have shown the effectiveness of the wave- induced mixing （By） in improving the simulation of upper-ocean thermal structure. The mech- anisms of Bv are further investigated by incorporating different Bv products into the MASNUM wave-circulation coupled model. First, experiments were designed to explore the effects of By, which contain the contributions at different wave lengths （l）. The results of three experiments, the non-By case, the short-wave case （l 〈300 m）, and the long-wave case （l 〉300 m） are compared, and it is found that the long waves are the most important component for By to generate mixing in the upper ocean. As the swell plays dominant role in mixing, the parameterization of Bv into wind may be not a proper way. Second, Bv effects at different time-scales, including daily and monthly, were examined. The results show that the monthly averaged By has larger impact than the daily averaged Bv, especially in summer.

A new fixed carder membrane material VSA-SA for CO2 separation was prepared through the chemical modification of PVSA. The selective permeation of CO2 through VSA-SA/PS composite membrane was performed with CO2/CH4 system. By modulating the crystalline properties of the active layer with dual donors, the efficiency of organic solar cells reaches 19.23%.The introduction of PTzBI-dF suppresses the accumulation of traps and charge recombination, allowing ternary devices to maintain 82% of their initial power conversion efficiency (PCE) after illumination for 800 *** dual-donor strategy for modulating the crystallinity of the active layer is applicable to a variety of Y6 derivatives, and the increase in PCE exceeds 1%. Trap-assisted charge recombination is one of the primary limitations of restricting the performance of organic solar cells. However, effectively reducing the presence of traps in the photoactive layer remains challenging. Herein, wide bandgap polymer donor PTzBI-dF is demonstrated as an effective modulator for enhancing the crystallinity of the bulk heterojunction active layers composed of D18 derivatives blended with Y6, leading to dense and ordered molecular packings, and thus, improves photoluminescence quenching properties. As a result, the photovoltaic devices exhibit reduced trap-assisted charge recombination losses, achieving an optimized power conversion efficiency of over 19%. Besides the efficiency enhancement, the devices comprised of PTzBI-dF as a third component simultaneously attain decreased current leakage, improved charge carrier mobilities, and suppressed bimolecular charge recombination, leading to reduced energy losses. The advanced crystalline structures induced by PTzBI-dF and its characteristics, such as well-aligned energy level, and complementary absorption spectra, are ascribed to the promising performance improvements. Our findings suggest that donor phase engineering is a feasible approach to tuning the molecular packings in the active layer, providing guidelines for designing effective morphology modulators for high-performance organic solar cells.

Predicting single-phase solid solutions in as-sputtered high entropy alloys:High-throughput screening with machine-learning model

Searching for single-phase solid solutions(SPSSs)in high-entropy alloys(HEAs)is a prerequisite for the intentional design and manipulation of microstructures of alloys in vast composition ***,to date,reported SPSS HEAs are still rare due to the lack of reliable guiding principles for the synthesis of new SPSS ***,we demonstrate an ensemble machine-learning method capable of discovering SPSS HEAs by directly predicting quinary phase diagrams based only on atomic composition.A total of 2198 experimental structure data are extracted from as-sputtered quinary HEAs in the literature and used to train a random forest classifier(termed AS-RF)utilizing bagging,achieving a prediction accuracy of 94.6%compared with experimental *** AS-RF model is then utilized to predict 224 quinary phase diagrams including∼32,000 SPSS HEAs in Cr-Co-Fe-Ni-Mn-Cu-Al composition *** extrapolation capability of the AS-RF model is then validated by performing first-principle calculations using density functional theory as a benchmark for the predicted phase transition of newly predicted ***,interpretation of the AS-RF model weighting of the input parameters also sheds light on the driving forces behind HEA formation in sputtered systems with the main contributors being:valance electron concentration,work function,atomic radius difference and elementary symmetries.

Numerical Investigation on Dynamic Characteristics of Casing Deformation During Marine Hydrate Production

Formation subsidence is inevitable during marine hydrate decomposition,and the consequent casing deformation seriously threatens the security of sustainable hydrate *** to insufficient observed data of formation subsidence in field,displacement boundary condition of casing is *** the conventional static methods are inapplicable for the calculation of casing deformation in hydrate production *** present work aims at proposing an approach to investigate dynamic deformation of the casing during hydrate *** the proposed methodology,based on the movement theory of hydrate decomposition front,hydrate decomposition process can be simulated,in which hydrate reservoir strength formation subsidence showed time-dependent *** considering the actual interactions among casing,cement and formation,three models of hydrate production well are developed to reveal the static and dynamic deformation mechanisms of the *** application of the proposed methodology is demonstrated through a case *** show that buckling deformation and bending deformation of casing reduce the passing ability of downhole tools in deformed casing by 4.2%and 7.5%,*** the progress of hydrate production,buckling deformation will increase obviously,while a little increase of bending deformation will occur,as the formation slippage induced by formation inclination is much larger than that caused by hydrate *** proposed approach can provide theoretical reference for improving casing integrity of marine hydrate production.
