Fault detection and isolation for linear parameter-varying systems with time-delays: a geometric approach

Fault detection and isolation(FDI) problems for linear parameter-varying(LPV) systems with state time-delays are studied in this paper. By defining the concept of unobservability subspace and designing its calculation algorithm, the geometric approach is introduced to the time-delay LPV systems. Utilizing Wirtinger-based integral inequality, we obtain a sufficient condition to solve the so-called H∞-based residual generation problem for the LPV systems. In this paper, we consider two cases: the time delay is known and the time delay is unknown but its estimated value can be obtained. Corresponding observers are proposed for both cases based on the geometric approach and H∞ techniques. Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is utilized to handle the time-delays and Wirtinger’s inequality is employed to reduce conservatism. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper proposes a joint inspection-based maintenance and spare ordering optimization policy that considers the problem of integrated inspection,preventive maintenance,spare ordering,and quality control for a four-state single-unit manufacturing system.When an inspection detects a minor defect,a second phase inspection is initiated and a regular order is placed.Product quality begins to deteriorate when the system undergoes a severe defect.To counter this,an advanced replacement of the minor defective system is carried out at the Jth second phase inspection.If a severe defect is recognized prior to the Jth inspection,or if system failure occurs,preventive or corrective replacement is executed.The timeliness of replacement depends on the availability of spare.We adopt two modes of ordering:a regular order and an emergency order.Meanwhile,a threshold level is introduced to determine whether an emergency order is preferred even when the regular order is already ordered but has not yet arrived.The optimal joint inspection-based maintenance and spare ordering policy is formulated by minimizing the expected cost per unit time.A simulation algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal two-phase inspection interval,threshold level and advanced replacement interval.Results from several numerical examples demonstrate that,in terms of the expected cost per unit time,our proposed model is superior to some existing models.

Due to the frequent changes of wind speed and wind direction,the accuracy of wind turbine(WT)power prediction using traditional data preprocessing method is low.This paper proposes a data preprocessing method which combines POT with DBSCAN(POT-DBSCAN)to improve the prediction efficiency of wind power prediction model.Firstly,according to the data of WT in the normal operation condition,the power prediction model ofWT is established based on the Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)Arithmetic which is combined with the BP Neural Network(PSO-BP).Secondly,the wind-power data obtained from the supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA)system is preprocessed by the POT-DBSCAN method.Then,the power prediction of the preprocessed data is carried out by PSO-BP model.Finally,the necessity of preprocessing is verified by the indexes.This case analysis shows that the prediction result of POT-DBSCAN preprocessing is better than that of the Quartile method.Therefore,the accuracy of data and prediction model can be improved by using this method.

A Hybrid Compression Method for Compound Power Quality Disturbance Signals in Active Distribution Networks

In the compression of massive compound power quality disturbance(PQD) signals in active distribution networks, the compression ratio(CR) and reconstruction error(RE) act as a pair of contradictory indicators, and traditional compression algorithms have difficulties in simultaneously satisfying a high CR and low RE. To improve the CR and reduce the RE, a hybrid compression method that combines a strong tracking Kalman filter(STKF), sparse decomposition, Huffman coding, and run-length coding is proposed in this study. This study first uses a sparse decomposition algorithm based on a joint dictionary to separate the transient component(TC) and the steady-state component(SSC) in the PQD. The TC is then compressed by wavelet analysis and by Huffman and runlength coding algorithms. For the SSC, values that are greater than the threshold are reserved, and the compression is finally completed. In addition, the threshold of the wavelet depends on the fading factor of the STKF to obtain a high CR. Experimental results of real-life signals measured by fault recorders in a dynamic simulation laboratory show that the CR of the proposed method reaches as high as 50 and the RE is approximately 1.6%, which are better than those of competing methods. These results demonstrate the immunity of the proposed method to the interference of Gaussian noise and sampling frequency.

With the development of the Internet of Things and devices continuing to scale,using cloud computing resources to process data in real-time is challenging.Edge computing technologies can improve real-time performance in processing data.By introducing the FPGA into the computing node and using the dynamic reconfigurability of the FPGA,the FPGA-based edge node can increase the edge node capability.In this paper,a task-based collaborative method for an FPGA-based edge computing system is proposed in order to meet the collaboration among FPGA-based edge nodes,edge nodes,and the cloud.The modeling of the task includes two parts,task information and task-dependent file.Task information is used to describe the running information and dependency infor-mation required for the task execution.Task-dependent file contains the configuration bit-stream of FPGA in running of the task.By analyzing the task behavior,this paper builds four basic behaviors,analyzes the critical attributes of each behavior,and summa-rizes the task model suitable for FPGA-based edge nodes.Tasks with specific functions can be created by modifying different attributes of model nodes.Finally,the availability of the model and the task-based collaborative method are verified by simulation exper-iments.The experimental results that the task model proposed in this paper can meet cloud-edge collaboration in the FPGA-based edge computing environment.

Nanomaterial-based delivery vehicles such as lipid-based,polymer-based,inorganics-based,and bio-inspired vehicles often carry distinct and attractive advantages in the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines.Based on various delivery vehicles,specifically designed nanomaterials-based vaccines are highly advantageous in boosting therapeutic and prophylactic antitumor immunities.Specifically,therapeutic vaccines featuring unique properties have made major contributions to the enhancement of antigen immunogenicity,encapsulation efficiency,biocompatibility,and stability,as well as promoting antigen cross-presentation and specific CD8^(+)T cell responses.However,for clinical applications,tumor-associated antigen-derived vaccines could be an obstacle,involving immune tolerance and deficiency of tumor specificities,in achieving maximum therapeutic indices.However,when using bioinformatics predictions with emerging innovations of in silico tools,neoantigen-based therapeutic vaccines might become potent personalized vaccines for tumor treatments.In this review,we summarize the development of preclinical therapeutic cancer vaccines and the advancements of nanomaterial-based delivery vehicles for cancer immunotherapies,which provide the basis for a personalized vaccine delivery platform.Moreover,we review the existing challenges and future perspectives of nanomaterial-based personalized vaccines for novel tumor immunotherapies.

Lepidoptera,with 0.16 million species,is the second largest order of insecta.This order includes silk worms,butterflies,and many agricultural pests.The cotton bollworm,Helicoverpa armigera(Hubner)is one of the pests in Lepidoptera that seriously harms cotton plant and other crops in China and other countries.This pest develops resistance to chemical insecticides rapidly.Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)transgenic cotton plants are developed to control H.armigera population in the field.However,duri ng the past years,the rapid evoluti on of Bt toxi n resista nee is observed in H.armigera in tran sge nic cott on fields.New approaches for the development of new envir on mentally friendly insecticides to control H.armigera have become necessary,and the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and physiological processes of this species need to be further understood.Considerable progress in the study of H.armigera development and physiology has been achieved in the last decade.This mini-review summarizes the main fin dings on the molecular mechanisms of horm onal regulation of the development of H.armigera to present new target genes for developing new approaches to control the pest.

Effects and translatomics characteristics of a small-molecule inhibitor of METTL3 against non-small cell lung cancer

In non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC),the heterogeneity promotes drug resistance,and the restricted expression of programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)limits the immunotherapy benefits.Based on the mechanisms related to translation regulation and the association with PD-L1 of methyltransferaselike 3(METTL3),the novel small-molecule inhibitor STM2457 is assumed to be useful for the treatment of NSCLC.We evaluated the efficacy of STM2457 in vivo and in vitro and confirmed the effects of its inhibition on disease progression.Next,we explored the effect of STM2457 on METTL3 and revealed its effects on the inhibition of catalytic activity and upregulation of METTL3 protein expression.Importantly,we described the genome-wide characteristics of multiple omics data acquired from RNA sequencing,ribosome profiling,and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing data under STM2457 treatment or METTL3 knockout.We also constructed a model for the regulation of the translation of METTL3 and PD-L1.Finally,we found PD-L1 upregulation by STM2457 in vivo and in vitro.In conclusion,STM2457 is a potential novel suppressor based on its inhibitory effect on tumor progression and may be able to overcome the heterogeneity based on its impact on the translatome.Furthermore,it can improve the immunotherapy outcomes based on PDL1 upregulation in NSCLC.
