Bifurcations, chaos analysis and control in a discrete predator-prey model with mixed functional responses

Many discrete systems have more distinctive dynamical behaviors compared to continuous ones, which has led lots of researchers to investigate them. The discrete predator-prey model with two different functional responses (Holling type I and II functional responses) is discussed in this paper, which depicts a complex population relationship. The local dynamical behaviors of the interior fixed point of this system are studied. The detailed analysis reveals this system undergoes flip bifurcation and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation. Especially, we prove the existence of Marotto's chaos by analytical method. In addition, the hybrid control method is applied to control the chaos of this system. Numerical simulations are presented to support our research and demonstrate new dynamical behaviors, such as period-10, 19, 29, 39, 48 orbits and chaos in the sense of Li-Yorke.

Atopic dermatitis(AD)is a complex disease characterized by recurrent eczematous lesions and refractory pruritus that drastically impairs quality of life.Due to the chronic and relapsing course,patients are easily trapped in the debilitating condition.Classical therapies show limitations,especially for patients with moderate-to-severe phenotypes.Advanced new insights in targeted therapies exhibit great application prospects which were reinforced by the more profound understanding of the disease pathogenesis.However,the sustained efficiency,biosafety,and long-term benefits still remain in further exploration.This review summarizes recent clinical studies on oral small-molecule inhibitors and biological agents for pediatric AD patients,which provides the latest frontiers to clinicians.

Congenital heart disease(CHD)is an important contributor to morbidity and mortality in children,and the global burden of this illness has raised unique challenges to the healthcare system[1,2].China is among the countries with the highest burden of this disorder despite having achieved huge advances in cardiac surgery or interventional therapies in CHD during the past two decades[3].Interestingly and unexpected is the lower prevalence rate of CHD reported in China.The prevalence of CHD at live birth is estimated to be 9.4 per 1000 worldwide[4],However,this figure is much lower in China,with only 4.9 per 1000 live births between 2015 and 2019[5].

In the article,we prove that the inequalities H_(p)(K(r);E(r))>π/2;L_(q)(K(r);E(r))>π/2 hold for all r 2(0;1)if and only if p≥3=4 and q≥3=4,where Hp(a;b)and Lq(a;b)are respectively the p-th power-type Heronian mean and q-th Lehmer mean of a and b,and K(r)and E(r)are respectively the complete elliptic integrals of the first and second kinds.

Large-scale trapped-ion quantum computers hold great promise to outperform classical computers and are crucially desirable for fnance,pharmaceutical industry,fundamental chemistry and other felds.Currently,a big challenge for trapped-ion quantum computers is the poor scalability mainly brought by the optical elements that are used for optical addressing.Metasurfaces provide a promising solution due to their excellent fexibility and integration ability.Here,we propose and numerically demonstrate a scalable of-axis metalens array for optical addressing working at the wavelength of 350 nm.Metalens arrays designed for x linearly polarized and left circularly polarized light respectively can focus the collimated addressing beam array into a compact focused spot array with spot spacing of 5μm,featuring crosstalk below 0.82%.

Comprehensive Summary Fluorescent silk has potential application in many fields such as bioimaging,tissue engineering scaffolds,luminescent marks,and dazzling fabrics.Among the methods to endow natural silk with fluorescent properties,feeding silkworms with fluorescent additives is facile,low-cost and environment friendly,which has the prospect of large-scale production.In this paper,we reviewed the research progress for this aim in the past ten years,and summarized the unified characteristics for the substances that can enter the silk gland by digestive tract of silkworms.The advantages and disadvantages of various fluorescent materials for this application are compared in detail.And the future research directions are suggested to overcome the shortcomings of the present research.

With the advent of Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homologue G12C(KRAS G12C)inhibitors,RAS is no longer considered undruggable.For the suppression of RAS,new therapeutic approaches have been suggested.However,current clinical studies have indicated therapeutic resistance after short-lived tumour suppression.According to preclinical studies,this might be associated with acquired genetic alterations,reactivation of downstream pathways,and stimulation for upstream signalling.In this review,we aimed to summarize current approaches for combination therapy to alleviate resistance to KRAS G12C inhibitors in colorectal cancer with a focus on the mechanisms of therapeutic resistance.We also analysed the relationship between various mechanisms and therapeutic resistance.

mingjie Zhang is a distinguished structural biologist whose research interest is the protein assemblies in cells, particularly those at the synapse, where two neurons meet and transmit nervous impulses from one to the other. In recent years, his group discovered the phenomenon of phase separation in both the pre-and post-synaptic sites of neurons and elucidated its regulation and physiological function. In this interview, NSR Executive Editor-in-Chief Mu-ming Poo talks with Prof. Zhang on the fast-developing research area of biological phase separation, as well as Zhang’s new role as the Founding Dean of the School of Life Sciences at Southern University of Science and Technology(SUSTech) in Shenzhen.

Assessment of past-climate simulations of regional climate models(RCMs)is important for understanding the reliability of RCMs when used to project future regional climate.Here,we assess the performance and discuss possible causes of biases in a WRF-based RCM with a grid spacing of 50 km,named WRFG,from the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program(NARCCAP)in simulating wet season precipitation over the Central United States for a period when observational data are available.The RCM reproduces key features of the precipitation distribution characteristics during late spring to early summer,although it tends to underestimate the magnitude of precipitation.This dry bias is partially due to the model’s lack of skill in simulating nocturnal precipitation related to the lack of eastward propagating convective systems in the simulation.Inaccuracy in reproducing large-scale circulation and environmental conditions is another contributing factor.The too weak simulated pressure gradient between the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf of Mexico results in weaker southerly winds in between,leading to a reduction of warm moist air transport from the Gulf to the Central Great Plains.The simulated low-level horizontal convergence fields are less favorable for upward motion than in the NARR and hence,for the development of moist convection as well.Therefore,a careful examination of an RCM’s deficiencies and the identification of the source of errors are important when using the RCM to project precipitation changes in future climate scenarios.
