The constant increase in global energy demand and stricter environmental standards are calling for advanced energy storage technologies that can store electricity from intermittent renewable sources such as wind,solar,and tidal power,to allow the broader implementation of the *** gridoriented sodium-ion batteries,potassium ion batteries and multivalent ion batteries are cheaper and more sustainable alternatives to Li-ion,although they are still in the early stages of *** optimisation of these battery systems is required,to improve the energy and power density,and to solve the safety issues caused by dendrites growth in ***,one of the most critical components in these batteries,could significantly influence the electrochemical performances and operations of *** this review,the definitions and influences of three critical components(salts,solvents,and additives)in electrolytes are *** significant advantages,challenges,recent progress and future optimisation directions of various electrolytes for monovalent and multivalent ions batteries(***,ionic liquid and aqueous liquid electrolytes,polymer and inorganic solid electrolytes)are summarised to guide the practical application for grid-oriented batteries.

Seasonal bioconcentration of heavy metals in Onchidium struma(Gastropoda:Pulmonata)from Chongming Island,the Yangtze Estuary,China

The seasonal concentration changes of selected heavy metal Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, and Zn in five tissues of marine gastropod Onchidium struma were studied in the Chongming Island, the Yangtze Estuary in April 2007, July 2006, September 2006, and November 2006, respectively. The results demonstrated that the bioconcentration factor of Cu （biomass/water） in all selected tissues was about 104 magnitudes, Fe and Cd were 103, Zn was 102, and Mn, Pb, and Cr were 101. Hepatopancreas was proven to be the dominant storage tissue of Cr, Cu, Mn, and Zn, whereas Fe and Pb were mainly stored in muscle and digenetic gland, and Cd was stored in vitelline gland and albumen gland. Additionally, it was found that Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn were concentrated significantly by O. struma （whole-body） in summer or autumn, and Cd, Cr, and Pb increased slightly in spring and winter. Furthermore, the bioconcentration of Cr was nearly 2-fold higher and Zn was 1.6-fold higher in the water compared with the Water Quality Standard for Fisheries. With view of excessive amount of Pb, Cd, and Cu according to seafood standard, the consumption of O. struma might have the risk of health hazard.

Numerical analysis of residence time distribution of solids in a bubbling fluidized bed based on the modified structure-based drag model

The residence time distribution （RTD） of solids and the fluidized structure of a bubbling fluidized bed were investigated numerically using computational fluid dynamics simulations coupled with the modified structure-based drag model. A general comparison of the simulated results with theoretical values shows reasonable agreement. As the mean residence time is increased, the RTD initial peak intensity decreases and the RTD curve tail extends farther. Numerous small peaks on the RTD curve are induced by the back- mixing and aggregation of particles, which attests to the non-uniform flow structure of the bubbling fluidized bed. The low value of t50 results in poor contact between phases, and the complete exit age of the overflow particles is much longer for back-mixed solids and those caught in dead regions. The formation of a gulf-stream flow and back-mixing for solids induces an even wider spread of RTD.

The present work focuses on a numerical investigation of the solids residence time distribution(RTD) and the fluidized structure of a multi-compartment fluidized bed, in which the flow pattern is proved to be close to plug flow by using computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulations. With the fluidizing gas velocity or the bed outlet height rising, the solids flow out of bed more quickly with a wider spread of residence time and a larger RTD variance(σ2). It is just the heterogeneous fluidized structure that being more prominent with the bed height increasing induces the widely non-uniform RTD. The division of the individual internal circulation into double ones improves the flow pattern to be close to plug flow.

The exploration of unconventional and/or new energy resources has become the focus of energy research worldwide,given the shortage of fossil *** a potential energy resource,gas hydrate exists only in the environment of high pressure and low temperature,mainly distributing in the sediments of the seafloor in the continental margins and the permafrost zones in *** accurate determination of the thickness of gas hydrate stability zone is essential yet challenging in the assessment of the exploitation *** majority of previous studies obtain this thickness by detecting the bottom simulating reflectors（BSRs） layer on the seismic *** phase equilibrium between gas hydrate stable state with its temperature and pressure provides an opportunity to derive the thickness with the geothermal *** on the latest geothermal dataset,we calculated the thickness of the gas hydrate stability zone（GHSZ） in the north continental margin of the South China *** results indicate that the thicknesses of gas hydrate stability zone vary greatly in different areas of the northern margin of the South China *** thickness mainly concentrates on 200–300 m and distributes in the southwestern and eastern areas with belt-like *** further confirmed a certain relationship between the GHSZ thickness and factors such as heat flow and water *** thickness of gas hydrate stability zone is found to be large where the heat flow is relatively *** GHSZ thickness increases with the increase of the water depth,but it tends to stay steady when the water depth deeper than 3 000 *** findings would improve the assessment of gas hydrate resource potential in the South China Sea.

Using a flow cytometer （FCM） onboard the R/V Xuelong during the 24th Chinese Antarctic cruise, picoplankton community structure and biomass in the surface water were examined along the latitude and around the Antarctic Ocean. Salinity and temperature were automatically recorded and total Chl a was determined. Along the cruise, the abundance of Synechococcus, Prochlorococ- cus, pico-eukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria ranged in 0.001-1.855~ 10s ind./L, 0.000-2.778×108 ind./L, 0.002-1.060×108 ind./L and 0.132-27.073×108 ind./L, respectively. Major oceanic distri- bution of Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus appeared between latitudes 30°N and 30°S. Prochlorococcus was mainly influenced by water temperature, water mass combination and freshwater inflow. Meanwhile, Synechococcus distribution was significantly associated with landing freshwater inflow. Pico-eukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria were distributed all over the oceans, but with a relatively low abundance in the high latitudes of the Antarctic Ocean. Principal Component Analysis showed that at same latitude of Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean, picoplankton distribution and constitution were totally different, geographical location and different water masses combination would be main reasons.

Experimental Investigation on the Dynamics of Pipes Conveying Fluid Based on Strain Gauge Test

Dynamical performance of pipes conveying fluid on board is of great importance to the reliability of *** dynamic equation of a simply supported wet pipe conveying fluid is presented,taking structural damping of the pipe and viscidity of the fluid into *** the equation is also solved by using Galerkin's *** identifications based on strain gauge test are carried out on both dry pipes(without fluid in it) and wet pipes(pipes conveying fluid).It is concluded from the comparison of the results that both natural frequency and the damping ratio decrease as the pipe filled with fluid,but the mode shapes vary *** of equivalent damping factor is also *** results reveal that the equivalent damping factor of fluid and the damping ratio depend greatly on the initial deformation,and fluid induced damping decreases the universal damping ratio of the pipes conveying fluid.
