Attaining synergetic equilibrium of electrical conductivity and tensile strength in GQDs@GN/Cu composites through multi-scale intragranular and intergranular reinforcements

The configuration and quality of reinforcements, as well as the robustness of interfacial bonding,holding a critical significance in determining the concurrence between electrical conductivity and mechanical strength in metal matrix composites. In this study, citric acid was employed as the precursor for synthesizing multiscale carbon nanomaterials(graphene quantum dots and graphene, abbreviated as GQDs and GN). The GQDs@GN/Cu composites were fabricated through a segmented ball milling process in conjunction with subsequent spark plasma sintering(SPS). The intragranular GQDs and intergranular GQDs@GN had synergistically reinforced Cu composites through Orowan strengthening, load transfer strengthening and refinement strengthening. Furthermore,the robust interface bonding between GQDs@GN and Cu effectively mitigated interfacial impedance stemming from electron-boundary scattering. The yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the GQDs@GN/Cu composites were recorded as 270 and 314 MPa, respectively, representing an improvement of 92 and 28% over pure Cu, while maintaining electrical conductivity at a level comparable to that of pure Cu. This study advances the understanding of the possibility of realizing a synergistic compatibility between electrical conductivity and mechanical strength in Cu composites.

Mechanical synergistic interaction between adjacent corrosion defects and its effect on pipeline failure

This work provides a new comprehensive assessment method to determine the complex mechanical interaction of adjacent corrosion ***,a three-dimensional(3D)finite element model of pipelines containing adjacent defects(involving longitudinally aligned,circumferentially aligned,and diagonally aligned defects)was developed and validated by full-scale burst ***,the synergistic stress interaction between adjacent defects was analyzed,and the relationship between the burst position of the pipeline and defect spacing was *** last,the applicability of several commonly used critical spacing rules for identifying the interaction between adjacent defects was compared and discussed in *** results show that the failure position of the pipeline containing adjacent defects is related to the relative position of *** longitudinally aligned corrosion defects,the stronger the interaction between defects(i.e.,the shorter the distance between two defects),the closer the failure position of the pipeline to the center of the defect *** circumferentially aligned corrosion defects,the failure position of the pipe tends to move from the defect edge to the geometric center of the defect with increasing defect *** diagonally aligned defects,the failure position is generally located on the path connecting the defect and the *** currently available evaluation criteria for identifying circumferentially interacting defects display the most accuracy,and the identification effect of diagonally aligned defects is the *** addition,the critical spacing rule proposed by Li presents the highest precision in identifying the interacting *** results are expected to provide a stress synergistic failure assessment method for pipelines containing cluster corrosion defects in engineering.

Macrocyclic compounds are of great interest for their ability to capture guest molecules into their *** particular,host-guest interaction plays a crucial role in the formation of supramolecular ***,two host-guest supramolecular compounds,[Al_(8)(OH)_(8)(L)_(16)]·2HL(HL@AlOC-166,HL=4-Iodobenzoic acid)and[Al_(8)(OH)_(8)(L)_(8)(L1)_(8)]·2DMF(DMF@AlOC-166,HL1=isoamyl alcohol),are acquired by introducing different types of guest components based on the internal pore cavities of the aluminum molecular ring[Al_(8)(OH)_(8)(L)_(16)](AlOC-166).The inclusion of these guests is attributed to the presence of abundant hydrophilic OH serving as the hydrogen bond donors inward the ring ***-guest compounds usually exhibit superior nonlinear optical(NLO)response due to the existence of guest molecules that could change symmetry,dipole moments,charge distributions,***,the AlOC-166 achieved the best NLO results,although it had no guest molecules inside its molecular ring,which breaks the traditional *** reason for this trend can be explained by the difference in intermolecular force rather than intramolecular interaction,mainly related to the amount and strength ofπ···πand C—I···πinteractions in different *** work investigates the effect of host-guest interaction on NLO,representing a new perspective for designing optical limiting materials.

Energy management strategy for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle equipped with a battery/ultra-capacitor hybrid energy storage system

To solve the low power density issue of hybrid electric vehicular batteries, a combination of batteries and ultracapacitors (UCs) could be a solution. The high power density feature of UCs can improve the performance of battery/UC hybrid energy storage systems (HESSs). This paper presents a parallel hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) equipped with an internal combus- tion engine and an HESS. An advanced energy management strategy (EMS), mainly based on fuzzy logic, is proposed to improve the fuel economy of the HEV and the endurance of the HESS. The EMS is capable of determining the ideal distribution of output power among the internal combustion engine, battery, and UC according to the propelling power or regenerative braking power of the vehicle. To validate the effectiveness of the EMS, numerical simulation and experimental validations are carried out. The results indicate that EMS can effectively control the power sources to work within their respective efficient areas. The battery load can be mitigated and prolonged battery life can be expected. The electrical energy consumption in the HESS is reduced by 3.91% compared with that in the battery only system. Fuel consumption of the HEV is reduced by 24.3% compared with that of the same class conventional vehicles under Economic Commission of Europe driving cycle.

Evaluation of terrestrial radiation in the chengdu Plain using 1/250,000-scale geochemical prospecting data

Based on the geochemical prospecting data, we have calculated the gamma absorbed dose rates in air 1 m above the ground surface in the chengdu Plain, analyzed the relationship between the geological conditions and the distribution of the natural radionuclides, and preliminarily studied the influence of the geological conditions on the terrestrial radiation level in the chengdu Plain. The result shows that the terrestrial radiation level in the chengdu Plain is slightly lower than the average values of China and varies greatly according to the complex geological conditions.

Simulation of the orbit and spin period evolution of the double pulsars PSR J0737-3039 from their birth to coalescence induced by gravitational wave radiation

The complete orbital and spin period evolutions of the double neutron star(NS)system PSR J0737-3039 are simulated from birth to coalescence,which include the two observed radio pulsars classified as primary NS PSR J0737-3039 A and companion NS PSR J0737-3039 *** employing the characteristic age of PSR J0737-3039 B to constrain the true age of the double pulsar system,the initial orbital period and initial binary separation are obtained as 2.89 h and 1.44 x 106 km,respectively,and the coalescence age or the lifetime from the birth to merger of PSR J0737-3039 is obtained to be 1.38×10^(8)*** the last minute of coalescence,corresponding to the gravitational wave frequency changing from 20 Hz to1180 Hz,we present the binary separation of PSR J0737-3039 to be from 442 km to 30 km,while the spin periods of PSR J0737-3039 A and PSR J0737-3039 B are 27.10 ms and 4.63 s,*** the standard radio pulsar emission model,before the system merged,the primary NS could still be observed by a radio telescope,but the companion NS had crossed the death line in the pulsar magnetic-field versus period(B-P)diagram at which point it is usually considered to cease life as a *** is the first time that the whole life evolutionary simulation of the orbit and spin periods for a double NS system is presented,which provides useful information for observing a primary NS at the coalescence stage.

Graphene is an ideal reinforcing phase for a high-performance composite filler,which is of great theoretical and practical significance for improving the wettability and reliability of the ***,the poor adsorption characteristics between graphene and the silver base filler significantly affect the application of graphene filler in the brazing *** is a great challenge to improve the adsorption characteristics between a graphene and silver base *** solve this issue,the adsorption characteristic between graphene and silver was studied with first principle *** effects of Ga,Mo,and W on the adsorption properties of graphene were *** are three possible adsorbed sites,the hollow site(H),the bridge site(B),and the top site(T).Based on this research,the top site is the most preferentially adsorbed site for Ag atoms,and there is a strong interaction between graphene and Ag *** element doping enhances local hybridization between C or metal atoms and ***,compared with other doped structures(Ga and Mo),W atom doping is the most stable adsorption structure and can also improve effective adsorption characteristic performance between graphene and Ag.

Where is the future of China's biogas? Review, forecast,and policy implications

This paper discusses the history and present status of different categories of biogas production in China,most of which are classified into rural household production,agriculture-based engineering production,and industry-based engineering *** evaluate the future biogas production of China,five models including the Hubbert model,the Weibull model,the generalized Weng model,the H-C-Z model,and the Grey model are applied to analyze and forecast the biogas production of each province and the entire *** is proved that those models which originated from oil research can also be applied to other energy *** simulation results reveal that China＇s total biogas production is unlikely to keep on a fast-growing trend in the next few years,mainly due to a recent decrease in rural household production,and this greatly differs from the previous goal set by the official *** addition,China＇s biogas production will present a more uneven pattern among regions in the *** paper will give preliminary explanation for the regional difference of the three biogas sectors and propose some recommendations for instituting corresponding policies and strategies to promote the development of the biogas industry in China.

Nitric oxide donating anti-glaucoma drugs:advances and prospects

Glaucoma is a disease that causes irreversible blindness. Reducing intraocular pressure(IOP) is the main treatment at present. Nitric oxide(NO), an endogenous gas signaling molecule, can increase aqueous humor outflow facility, inhibit aqueous humor production thereby reducing IOP, as well as regulate eye blood flow and protect the optic nerve. Therefore, NO donating antiglaucoma drugs have broad research prospects. In this review, we summarize NO-mediated therapy for glaucoma, and the state of the art of some NO donating molecules, including latanoprostene bunod in market and some other candidate compounds, for the intervention of glaucoma, as well as prospects and challenges ahead in this field.
