Enhanced thermoelectric and mechanical properties of Bi_(0.5)Sb_(1.5)Te_(3) alloy with dispersed yttrium oxide ceramic nanoparticles

Reducing thermal conductivity while avoiding adverse interfacial reactions during sintering is crucial for improving the thermoelectric performance of Bi_(2)Te_(3)based *** ceramic nanoparticles are good candidates for achieving this *** this study,we designed and prepared a series of p-type Bi_(0.5)Sb_(1.5)Te_(3)nanocomposites decorated with Y_(2)O_(3)ceramic nanoparticles via ball-milling dispersion and spark-plasma *** to the chemical stability of the ceramics,no traces of atomic doping or interfacial reactions were *** measurements revealed that the Y_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles distributed along the grain boundaries acted as energy-dependent carrier-filtering centers to improve the scattering parameter and Seebeck coefficient,contributing to the elevated power factor even with a decreased electrical ***,the incorporated Y_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles and various defect structures they induced effectively strengthened the phonon scattering and suppressed the lattice thermal ***,a peak figure of merit(ZT)of 1.23 at 313 K was achieved for 0.4%Y_(2)O_(3)/Bi_(0.5)Sb_(1.5)Te_(3),which is 13%higher than that of the *** addition,the Vickers hardness of the composite material was 35%higher than that of the *** study demonstrates the effectiveness of ceramic nanoparticles in synergistic ally improving the thermoelectric and mechanical properties,which may be further extended to other thermoelectric systems.

Methyl chloride dehydration with ionic liquid based on COSMO-RS model

A suitable ionic liquid for methyl chloride drying experiment was screened out from 210 ionic liquids by COSMO-RS ***,the experimental mechanism of ionic liquids drying is further explained by the COSMO-RS model,and it is further confirmed by analyzing the binding *** solubility of methyl chloride in[EMIM][BF4]and TEG and[EMIM][BF4]+H2O was completed,and the experimental results well proved the reliability of the UNIFAC-lei *** unknown interaction parameters were obtained through the solubility data of this work and the experimental data in the *** methyl chloride drying experiment was completed in the laboratory,and the water content of the methyl chloride can be reduced to below 200 *** simulation of the methyl chloride drying process using[EMIM][BF4]or TEG as absorbents was carried out by ASPEN software on an industrial *** final simulation results show that the[EMIM][BF4]drying process has lower energy consumption and better drying effect.

Substitutions of stem-loop subdomains in internal ribosome entry site of Senecavirus A:Impacts on rescue of sequence-modifying viruses

Senecavirus A(SVA)has a positive-sense,single-stranded RNA *** 5´untranslated region harbors an internal ribosome entry site(IRES),comprising 10 larger or smaller stem-loop structures(including a pseudoknot)that have been demonstrated to be well ***,it is still unclear whether each stem-loop subdomain,such as a single stem or loop,is also highly *** clarify this issue in the present study,a set of 29 SVA cDNA clones were constructed by site-directed mutagenesis(SDM)on the *** SDM-modified scenarios included:(1)stem-formed complementary sequences exchanging with each other;(2)loop transversion;(3)loop transition;and(4)point *** cDNA clones were separately transfected into cells for rescuing viable viruses,whereas only four SVAs of interest could be recovered,and were genetically stable during 20 *** progeny grew significantly slower than the other three *** dual-luciferase reporter assay showed that none of the SDM-modified IRESes significantly inhibited the IRES *** previous study indicated that a single motif from any of the ten stem structures,if completely mutated,would cause the failure of virus ***,our present study revealed three stem structures,whose individual complementary sequences could exchange with each other to rescue sequence-modifying ***,one apical loop was demonstrated to have the ability to tolerate its own full-length transition,also having no impact on the recovery of sequence-modifying *** present study suggested that not every stem-loop structure was strictly conserved in its conformation,while the full-length IRES itself was well *** provides a new research direction on interaction between the IRES and many factors.

“Nanocompoundsite”:Nano phased polymer dispersed in inorganic matrix via covalent bonds

Herein we demonstrate a new strategy to construct inorganic–organic“nanocompoundsite”,i.e.,a material that nano phased polymer is dispersed in consecutive inorganic matrix via covalent bonds,which is different from the conventional nanocomposite with polymer as matrix and inorganic nanomaterials as dispersed *** a representative system,SiOx/polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)nanocompoundsite was prepared from a polymeric precursor of perhydropolysilazane(PHPS)modified by carbohydroxyl end-capped PDMS(HOC-PDMS),through a room-temperature vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)irradiation *** adjusting HOC-PDMS/PHPS ratio below 20%,PDMS fully binds to the PHPS derived SiOx matrix via Si-O-C bond to form the inorganic-organic SiOx/PDMS nanocompoundsite(ISPN)without noticeable phase *** introduction of PDMS into ISPN renders its initial decomposition temperature increase over 110℃.The remarkable enhancement of thermal stability for PDMS is due to the restriction of terminal hydroxyl induced back-biting reaction and main chain degradation by the inorganic matrix and the covalent binding between PDMS and *** novel strategy can further extend to hydroxyl terminated PDMS,polyethylene glycol,and acrylic resin,with the initial decomposition temperature of each polymer increasing by over 110,150 and 100℃,*** importantly,the nanocompoundsite combines the characteristics of inorganic matrix and *** coating based on SiOx/PDMS nanocompoundsite exhibits good flexibility,outstanding interfacial binding strength,ultra-high hardness as well as excellent hydrophobicity.

The influence of heat input on the microstructural evolution of laser-welded Ti_(2)AlNb joints was investigated in this *** thermal cycles during welding process were analyzed by numerical *** the heat affected zone(HAZ),the amount ofα_(2)and O phases decreased with laser power *** the heating period,α_(2)→B2and O→B2transformations occurred,but the decomposition of the B2phase intoα_(2)and O phases was suppressed during the cooling *** heat transfer in the HAZ generated more equiaxed B2grains,fewer LAGBs and a weaker{001}texture due to recovery,recrystallization and grain *** phase composition of the fusion zone remained single with only the B2phase with the increase in heat input,but the mode of grain growth transformed from cellular growth into cellular dendritic growth.A finite element model was established to simulate the thermal cycles during the welding *** heat input induced higher peak temperature,leading to higher temperatures in the HAZ for longer periods of time,which was beneficial for theα_(2)→B2and O→*** calculated cooling rates in both the HAZ and in the fusion zone were faster than the critical cooling rate for B2→α_(2)and B2→O transformations.

In this paper, quantum chemistry computation(density functional theory) of multi-airstaged combustion was investigated in combination with *** was found that the presence of oxygen in the combustion environment has a great influence on the surface chemistry of coal *** the reaction pathway, the ring-opening reaction happens first,and is followed by NO ***, the ring-closure reaction takes place, leaving the nitrogen atom trapped in the inner char *** reaction route effectively inhibits NO formation and achieves the aim of controlling NO *** the staged combustion experiments, the consumption of O2/NO was accompanied by an increase in the CO2 *** quantum chemistry computation successfully interprets the recent experimental trends displayed in multi-air-staged combustion.

Two diphosphine-protected superatom gold selenido nanoclusters,[Au_(8)Se_(2)(dppm)4]^(2+)(SD/Au_(8)a,dppm=Ph_(2)PCH_(2)PPh_(2))and[Au_(8)Se_(2)(dppe)4]^(2+)(SD/Au_(8)b,dppe=Ph_(2)P(CH_(2))2PPh_(2)),were obtained by the reduction of[Au(SMe2)Cl]in the presence of Ph3PSe as the selenium ion releasing *** can be regarded as“superatoms”with 1S^(2)configuration based on the spherical Jellium *** the same metal-ligand binding motifs on the surface and the intrinsic C_(2)molecular symmetry,the configurations of Au_(8)Se_(2)kernels in them are different in terms of Au-Au bonded metallic ***/Au_(8)a displays a heart-shaped[core+exo]type structure(Au4 tetrahedron core+two exo Au2Se units),whereas the two exo Au_(2)Se counterparts in SD/Au_(8)b are additionally locked by an obvious Au-Au bond,forming a distorted hexagonal Au6 ring with two capping AuSe units appended above and below ***,they showed different photophysical properties as reflected by their electronic absorption and emission ***,both SD/Au_(8)a and SD/Au_(8)b exhibit blue-shifted thermochromic luminescence upon cooling from 293 to 83 K but the latter exhibits anomalous emission intensity evolution trends due to the occurrence of temperature-induced phase transition as revealed by varied-temperature crystallographic *** work not only clearly illustrates the significance of ligands on tuning the kernel structure but also provides two rarely comparable examples for better understanding of the structure-property relationship of gold nanoclusters.

Nano Research volume 13,pages2259–2267(2020)Cite this article 277 Accesses 1 Altmetric Metrics details Abstract The incorporation of inorganic fillers into poly(ethyleneoxide)(PEO)-based solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)is well known as a low-cost and effective method to improve their mechanical and electrochemical *** zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)is firstly used as the filler for PEO-based SPEs in this *** to the introduction of ZIF-8,an ionic conductivity of 2.2×10^−5 S/cm(30℃)is achieved for the composite SPE,which is one order of magnitude higher than that of the pure ***-8 also accounts for the broader electrochemical stability window and lithium ion transference number(0.36 at 60℃)of the composite ***,the improved mechanism of ZIF-8 to the composite SPE is investigated by zeta potential and Fourier transform infrared spectrograph *** stability at the composite SPE/lithium interface is greatly *** LiFePO4||Li cells using the composite SPE exhibit high capacity and excellent cycling performance at 60℃,i.e.,85%capacity retention with 111 mA·h/g capacity retained after 350 cycles at 0.5 *** comparison,the cells using the pure PEO show fast capacity decay to 74 mA·h/g maintaining only 68 *** results indicate that the PEO-based SPEs with ZIF-8 are of great promise for the application in solid-state lithium metal batteries.

A superradiant maser with nitrogen-vacancy center spins

Recent experiments have demonstrated Rabi-oscillations, superradiant pulses and stimulated emission from negatively-charged nitrogen-vacancy(NV;) center spins in microwave resonators. These phenomena witness the kind of collective and strong coupling which has been the prerequisite for observation of superradiant lasing in the optical frequency regime. In this article, we investigate the possibility to employ coherence, present in both the collective NV-spin ensemble and the microwave field, to achieve a superradiant maser. Our calculations show that a superradiant maser with a linewidth below millihertz can be achieved with moderate kilohertz incoherent pumping of over 10;spins at room temperature. We show that the superradiant masing prevails in the presence of inhomogeneous broadening, and we present numerical and analytical studies of the dependence of the phenomenon on the various physical parameters.
