SITUSinversus totalis is uncommon anatomic anomaly, with gallbladder on the left side} Since the first known laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a patient with situs inversus has been reported by Camposand Sipes in 1991,2 there have been only approximately 40 cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed in patients with situs inversus reported in the published literatures.3＇ 4 These cases may cause difficulties in the diagnostic and therapeutic management due to the mirror-image anatomy during operation, which requires more technically procedures and needs reorientation of visuomotor skills to the left upper quadrant. We herein discuss technical and diagnostic difficulties and review the literatures.

It is reported that alkali-metal borohydrides （MBH4, M = li, Na and K） are efficient catalysts for ring opening polymerization （ROP） of α-amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides （NCAs）. Polypeptides are prepared in quantitative yields with relatively narrow molecular weight distributions （MWDs = 1.1-1.5） which depend on the reaction temperature. End groups of the produced polypeptide are studied in detail by MALDI-ToF MS, IH-NMR, 13C-NMR, IH-1H COSY and IH-13C HMQC analyses. The results indicate that α-hydroxy-ω-aminotelechelic polypeptides are formed which are suitable for post- polymerization functionalization.

Personality has been observed in a variety of animal taxa with important implications in ecology and *** the influence of environmental temperature during early life on personality could help to understand the ontogeny of this phenotypic trait in *** this study,we reared newborn mosquitofish Gambusia affinis at high(30C)and low(25C)water temperatures and measured their shyness and exploration upon sexual *** tested the repeatability of each behavioral trait;the correlation between them;and the effects of rearing temperature,sex,and body length on the *** growing up at low temperatures,female fish exhibited repeatability in shyness and exploration,and males exhibited marginal repeatability in ***,neither of the 2 behaviors were repeatable when the fish were reared at high *** was a negative correlation between shyness and exploration,indicating that the 2 behaviors comprise a behavioral syndrome in this *** reared at high temperatures were more explorative than those reared at low temperatures,while there was no difference in shyness between the 2 *** length and sex had no significant effects on the average values of the 2 *** results indicate that environmental temperature during early life could shape the personality of mosquitofish and modify the average of the behavioral *** findings might provide insights to understand the ontogeny of animal personality and how changes in environmental temperature influence animal dispersal by shaping their personality.

In recent years,great earthquakes occurred within the Wharton Basin in the eastern Indian Ocean,and they have been associa-ted with active faulting on the ancient oceanic *** seismogenic faults were thought to be the fault reactivation on the ancient oceanic crust,but these phenomena are still unclear and require *** study used high-quality multibeam bathymetry and multichannel seismic data collected over the northern Ninetyeast Ridge to investigate detailed fault geometry,structure,and *** recognized 12 large linear active faults by integrating bathymetry maps and multichannel seismic reflection *** results showed that these faults have high angles,and they all displaced the basement and propagated to the seafloor with distinct fault *** trended NWW-SEE with a spacing of 10–40km and were parallel to each other and the nearby subfault of the 2012 great intraplate earthquake,suggesting similar stress *** faults are also in agreement with the orientations of magnetic isochrons,implying their formation by seafloor ***,regarding the strike-slip focal mechanism of 2012 earthquakes,we proposed that these faults were created early by a normal spreading process and then evolved into a strike-slip pattern since the ancient oceanic crust ap-proached the subduction zones.

An improved rate distortion optimization （RDO） algorithm in JPEG2000 is proposed. The proposed algorithm is suitable for integrated circuit （IC） implementation and can reduce 30% computational cost. A hardware architecture which includes control unit, memory, divider, data converter is also given to implement the algorithm. The circuit based on the improved algorithm is tested on FPGAs and integrated in a JPG2000 chip codec core.

Background:Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging is a non-invasive method to visualize and quantify the tumor *** study aimed to explore the feasibility of ^(18)F-AIF-NOTA-E[PEG_(4-c)(RGDfk)]_(2) (denoted as ^(18)F-RGD) PET quantitative parameters to distinguish the angiogenesis in colorectal cancer (CRC) mice which has different metastatic ***:Twenty Lo Vo and twenty LS174T of CRC liver metastases animal models were established by implantation of human CRC cell lines via intrasplenic ***-based micro-PET imaging of animal model was performed and the uptake of ^(18)F-RGD tracer in the tumor tissues was quantified as tumor-to-liver maximum or mean standardized uptake value (SUVmax or SUVmean) *** correlation was used to analyze the relationship between radioactive parameters and tumor ***:The SUVmax and SUVmean ratios of Lo Vo model were significantly higher than those of LS174T in both liver metastasis and primary tumor lesions (Plial growth factor (VEGF) and Ki67 expressions between Lo Vo and LS174T primary tumors (Pliver SUVmax or SUVmean ratio of ^(18)F-RGD showed a moderate correlation with VEGF expression (r=0.5700,P=0.001 and r=0.6657,Pliver SUVmean ratio of ^(18)F-RGD was a promising image parameter for the process of monitoring tumor angiogenesis in CRC xenograft mice model.

Evaluation and optimization of secondary water supply system renovation

Due to pollution in second water supply system (SWSS),nine renovation alternative plans were proposed and com-prehensive evaluations of different plan based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) were presented in this paper. Comparisons of advantages and disadvantages among the plans of SWSS renovations provided solid foundation for selecting the most appro-priate plan for engineering projects. In addition,a mathematical model of the optimal combination of renovation plans has been set up and software lingo was used to solve the model. As a case study,the paper analyzed 15 buildings in Tianjin City. After simulation of the SWSS renovation system,an optimal scheme was obtained,the result of which indicates that 10 out of those 15 buildings need be renovated in priority. The renovation plans selected for each building are the ones ranked higher in the com-prehensive analysis. The analysis revealed that the optimal scheme,compared with two other randomly calculated ones,increased the percentage of service population by 19.6% and 13.6% respectively,which significantly improved social and economical benefits.

In this review, we highlight the latest development of multi-channel microfluidic chip-mass spectrometry（chip-MS） in cell analysis and metabolite detection. Following a brief introduction about history and development of multi-channel microchip and MS combination, we will elaborate the key issues of constructing chip-MS platform interface. Then exciting progresses made in this field should be reviewed with well exemplified works, including chip-MS technology for cell introduction, pretreatment of cell secretions and cell metabolite analysis. We will also describe the development of integrated total analysis systems proposed by our group. We hope this brief review will inspire interested readers and provide knowledge about chip-MS platform in the bioanalysis field, particularly in cell analysis and metabolite identifying applications.
