Cognitive impairment associated with individual and joint exposure to PM_(2.5)constituents in a chinese national cohort

Nationwide longitudinal evidence linking cognitive decline with exposure to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))constituents remains scarce in *** constructing a dynamic cohort based on the china Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study,we aimed to assess individual and joint associations of PM_(2.5)constituents with cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults in *** mixed-effects models incorporated with quantile-based g-computation were applied to investigate individual and joint associations of long-term exposures to PM_(2.5)constituents with cognitive *** 13,507 respondents,we evaluated 38,950 follow-up records of cognitive function *** in global cognitive score associated with an interquartile range(IQR)increase in exposure were−1.477(95%CI:−1.72.,−1.2.2.for nitrate,followed by−1.331(−1.52.,−1.133)for ammonium,−1.033(−1.184,−0.883)for sulfate,−0.988(−1.144,−0.832.for organic matter and−0.82.(−0.946,−0.699)for black *** IQR-equivalent increase in joint exposure to these PM_(2.5)constituents was associated with a decline of−1.353(−1.659,−1.048)in global cognitive ***,younger,and well-educated individuals were at greater vulnerability to cognitive impairment related to individual and joint exposure to PM_(2.5)*** study suggested that later-life exposures to PM_(2.5)constituents were associated with cognitive decline in middle-aged and older adults in china.

Mitigation strategies for soil acidification based on optimal nitrogen management

Soil acidification is a serious constraint to food production *** review explores its primary causes,with a focus on the role of nitrogen fertilizer,and suggests mitigation strategies based on optimal N *** acidification is determined by the leaching of weak acid mainly caused by climate and soil conditions,whereas the use of ammonium-based fertilizers,nitrate leaching and removal of base cations(BCs)by crop harvesting mostly accounts for anthropogenic *** addition,low soil acid buffering capacity,mainly determined by soil parent materials and soil organic matter content,also accelerates *** study proposes targeted mitigation strategies for different stages of soil acidification,which include monitoring soil carbonate content and p H of soils with p H>6.5(e.g.,calcareous soil),use of alkaline amendments for strongly acidic soils(p H<5.5)with aluminum toxicity risk to p H between 5.5 and 6.5,and decreasing acidification rates and supplementing BCs to maintain this optimal p H range,especially for soils with low acid buffering *** mitigation involves optimizing the rate and form of N fertilizers used,regulating N transformation processes,and establishing an integrated soil–crop management system that balances acid production and soil buffering capacity.

Lead Isotopic Steep-Dipping Zone and　Mineralization—An Example from　Mineral Deposits Concentrated　Area in East Qinling,china

Lead isotopic geochemical steep-dipping zone usually exists on inhomogeneous boundaries of earth blocks. Its crossing with the geophysical gradient zone often convergently occurs at giant deposits. Deep structures or concealed structural planes obviously have the coupling relationship with the convergent area of mineral deposits. The geochemical steep-dipping zone is usually distributed along the boundary of ancient continental blocks. Its crossing effect with geophysical gradient zone is usually presented as depression or swell of Moho discontinuity on the crossing direction with the ancient continental margin, which would lead to form deep fractures of earth crust at block margins or lead to adjustment of earth crust texture. The deep hydrothermal liquid would rise up along the structural planes to form the convergent areas of mineral deposits. For example, Luonan- Luanchuan area in east Qinling is a typical crossed area of the geochemical steepdipping zone and geophysical gradient zone. The mineral deposit belt extends along EW direction. It was controlled by the geochemical steepdipping zone equidistantly distributed along NE direction like a string of beads controlled by a gravity gradient zone in NE direction and a mantle depression slope. Along a plunging mantle syncline on EW plunging direction, from the east to the west, checkform was distributed which controls synergic crustmantle granoporphyry rocks. Therefore, a convergent mineralization area of Mo, W, Zn and Au giant deposits occurred.

Enhanced electrical and mechanical properties of Bi_(2.Te_(3)-based thermoelectric thick films enabled by a practical dynamic regulation strategy

The application of high-density and high-performance micro thermoelectric devices is still in its infancy,mainly restricted by the low performance of Bi_(2.Te_(3)-based thick film as well as the limited device *** this study,we proposed a dynamic regulation strategy to simultaneously strengthen the thermoelectric and mechanical properties for n-type Bi_(2.Te_(3)-based thick *** effects of growth temperature and time on thermoelectric properties have been firstly *** the thermoelectric properties exhibit consistent degradation with increasing thickness at static growth temperature,an effective rising temperature method is introduced to dynamically regulate the nucleation rate and growing diffusion ***,the grain refinement with compact texture structure leads to a relatively large carrier mobility(77.1 cm^(2.·V^(-1)·s^(-1))and appropriate concentration(5.2.×10^(19)cm^(-3))as well as further 12.improvement of power factor with an average value up to 12.0 mW·cm^(-1)·K^(-2.over a wide temperature ranging from 313 K to 453 ***,significant enhancement of mechanical property is also achieved with high elastic modules(56.03 GPa),hardness(0.63 GPa)and large energy dissipation capacity to prevent *** study provides a practical solution with dynamic temperature control to fabricate high-performance Bi_(2.Te_(3) thick films with enhanced mechanical property and pro-cessing feasibility for micro thermoelectric devices.

Continuous-flow enzymatic synthesis of chiral lactones in a three-dimensional microfluidic reactor

A new continuous-flow process for the enzymatic synthesis of optically pureγ-lactones,which are used as flavors and fragrances in the food and cosmetic industries,was developed in a three-dimensional microfluidic *** microchannels(175 mm in length,0.9 mm in depth,and 1.72.mL in volume)were carved precisely inside a single borosilicate glass(90 mm×75 mm×12.mm)with ultrafast femtosecond laser *** flow field analysis and reaction simulation showed that the mixing of substrates and enzymes was enhanced,allowing the adjustment of residence time in a wide ***_(V4),a carbonyl reductase with excellent catalytic activity and enantioselectivity towardγ/δ-keto acids,was employed for the asymmetric synthesis of various chiral lactones.30 mmol/L(R)-γ-decalactone(3g)can be obtained in 2. s with a space-time yield(STY)up to 16,877 g L^(-1)d^(-1),which is 14.4 times higher than the highest STY of batch reaction reported *** continuous-flow process was applied to the synthesis of 6 chiral *** addition,the scaled-up synthesis of 3g was carried out in 6 cascade microreactors continuously for 6 h,demonstrating the feasibility and stability of the 3D continuous-flow process in enzymatic synthesis of optically pure compounds.

Yield improvement has long been an important task for soybean breeding in the world in order to meet the increasing demand for food and animal *** R396 genes have been shown to negatively regulate grain size in rice,but whether mi R396 family members may function in a similar manner in soybean is ***,we generated eight soybean mutants harboring different combinations of homozygous mutations in the six soybean mi R396genes through genome editing with clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated nuclease(Cas)12.F01 in the elite soybean cultivar Zhonghuang 302.ZH302..Four triple mutants(mir396aci,mir396acd,mir396adf,and mir396cdf),two quadruple mutants(mir396-abcd and mir396acfi),and two quintuple mutants(mir396abcdf and mir396bcdfi)were *** found that plants of all the mir396 mutants produced larger seeds compared to ZH302.*** tests showed that mir396adf and mir396cdf plants have significantly increased yield in growth zones with relatively high latitude which are suited for ZH302.and moderately increased yield in lower *** contrast,mir396abcdf and mir396bcdfiplants have increased plant height and decreased yield in growth zones with relatively high latitude due to lodging issues,but they are suited for low latitude growth zones with increased yield without lodging *** together,our study demonstrated that loss-of-function of mi R396 genes leads to significantly enlarged seed size and increased yield in soybean,providing valuable germplasms for breeding high-yield soybean.

The inadequacy of tactile perception systems in humanoid robotic manipulators limits the breadth of available robotic ***,we designed a multifunctional flexible tactile sensor for robotic fingers that provides capabilities similar to those of human skin sensing *** sensor utilizes a novel PI-MXene/SrTiO_(3) hybrid aerogel developed as a sensing unit with the additional abilities of electromagnetic transmission and thermal insulation to adapt to certain complex ***,polyimide(PI)provides a high-strength skeleton,MXene realizes a pressure-sensing function,and MXene/SrTiO_(3) achieves both thermoelectric and infrared radiation response ***,via the pressure response mechanism and unsteady-state heat transfer,these aerogel-derived flexible sensors realize multimodal sensing and recognition capabilities with minimal *** can differentiate among 13 types of hardness and four types of material from objects with accuracies of 94%and 85%,respectively,using a decision tree *** addition,based on the infrared radiation-sensing function,a sensory array was assembled,and different shapes of objects were successfully *** findings demonstrate that this PI-MXene/SrTiO_(3) aerogel provides a new concept for expanding the multifunctionality of flexible sensors such that the manipulator can more closely reach the tactile level of the human *** advancement reduces the difficulty of integrating humanoid robots and provides a new breadth of application scenarios for their possibility.

A self-consistent and precise method to determine the time-dependent radiative albedo,i.e.,the ratio of the reemission flux to the incident flux,for an indirect-drive inertial confinement fusion Hohlraum wall material is proposed.A specially designed symmetrical triple-cavity gold Hohlraum is used to create approximately constant and near-equilibrium uniform radiation with a peak temperature of 160 *** incident flux at the secondary cavity waist is obtained from flux balance analysis and from the shock velocity of a standard *** results agree well owing to the symmetrical radiation in the secondary cavity.A self-consistent and precise time-dependent radiative albedo is deduced from the reliable reemission flux and the incident flux,and the result from the shock velocity is found to have a smaller uncertainty than that from the multi-angle flux balance analysis,and also to agree well with the result of a simulation using the HYADES opacity.

In correlated oxides,collaborative manipulation on light intensity,wavelength,pulse duration and polarization has yielded many exotic discoveries,such as phase transitions and novel quantum *** view of potential optoelectronic applications,tailoring long-lived static properties by light-induced effects is highly *** far,the polarization state of light has rarely been reported as a control parameter for this ***,we report polarization-dependent metal-to-insulator transition(MIT)in phaseseparated manganite thin films,introducing a new degree of freedom to control static ***,we observed giant photoinduced resistance jumps with striking features:(1)a single resistance jump occurs upon a linearly polarized light incident with a chosen polarization angle,and a second resistance jump occurs when the polarization angle changes;(2.the amplitude of the second resistance jump depends sensitively on the actual change of the polarization *** transmittance measurements reveal that the origin of the above phenomena is closely related to the coexistence of anisotropic *** results represent a first step to utilize light polarization as an active knob to manipulate static phase transitions,pointing towards new pathways for nonvolatile optoelectronic devices and sensors.
