Analysis of thermal management and anti-mechanical abuse of multi-functional battery modules based on magneto-sensitive shear thickening fluid

Electric vehicles(EVs)have garnered significant attention as a vital driver of economic growth and environmental sustainability.Nevertheless,ensuring the safety of high-energy batteries is now a top priority that cannot be overlooked during large-scale applications.This paper proposes an innovative active protection and cooling integrated battery module using smart materials,magneto-sensitive shear thickening fluid(MSTF),which is specifically designed to address safety threats posed by lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)exposed to harsh mechanical and environmental conditions.The theoretical framework introduces a novel approach for harnessing the smoothed-particle hydrodynamics(SPH)methodology that incorporates the intricate interplay of non-Newtonian fluid behavior,capturing the fluid-structure coupling inherent to the MSTF.This approach is further advanced by adopting an enhanced Herschel-Bulkley(H-B)model to encapsulate the intricate rheology of the MSTF under the influence of the magnetorheological effect(MRE)and shear thickening(ST)behavior.Numerical simulation results show that in the case of cooling,the MSTF is an effective cooling medium for rapidly reducing the temperature.In terms of mechanical abuse,the MSTF solidifies through actively applying the magnetic field during mechanical compression and impact within the battery module,resulting in 66%and 61.7%reductions in the maximum stress within the battery jellyroll,and 31.1%and 23%reductions in the reaction force,respectively.This mechanism effectively lowers the risk of short-circuit failure.The groundbreaking concepts unveiled in this paper for active protection battery modules are anticipated to be a valuable technological breakthrough in the areas of EV safety and lightweight/integrated design.

Evaluating the performance and influencing factors of three portable black carbon monitors for field measurement

Black carbon(BC)is associated with adverse human health and climate change.Mapping BC spatial distribution imperatively requires low-cost and portable devices.Several portable BC monitors are commercially available,but their accuracy and reliability are not always satisfactory during continuous field observation.This study evaluated three models of portable black carbon monitors,C12,MA350 and DST,and investigates the factors that affect their performance.The monitors were tested in urban Beijing,where portable devices running for one month alongside a regular-size reference aethalometer AE33.The study considers several factors that could influence the monitors'performance,including ambient weather,aerosol composition,loading artifacts,and built-in algorithms.The results show that MA350and DST present considerable discrepancies to the reference instrument,mainly occurring at lower concentrations(0-500 ng/m^(3))and higher concentrations(2500-8000 ng/m^(3)),respectively.These discrepancies were likely caused by the anomalous noise of MA350 and the loading artifacts of DST.The study also suggests that the ambient environment has limited influence on the monitors'performance,but loading artifacts and accompanying compensation algorithms can result in unrealistic data.Based on the evaluation,the study suggests that C12 is the best choice for unsupervised field measurement,DST should be used in scenarios where frequent maintenance is available,and MA350 is suitable for research purposes with post-processing applicable.The study highlights the importance of assigning portable BC monitors to appropriate applications and the need for optimized real-time compensation algorithms.

Geochemical Characteristics of Saturated Hydrocarbons from Strata Inferred from the Multitubular Cores of the Prydz Bay and the Sources/Environmental Variations

The content and distribution of saturated hydrocarbons (n-alkanes,isoprenoid,steranes and terpanes) in the multitubular cores ANT29-M2 from the Prydz Bay of the Antarctic were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,and the organic matter sources,sedimentary environments and geochemical parameters of the sediments were discussed.The results showed that the carbon number of the multitubular samples ANT29-M2 was between C14 and C32 with low-carbon single peak group and main peak carbon of C18 .n-alkane gas charomatography fingerprint spectra indicated that unmixable complex compounds displayed a significant bulge,and the obvious UCM shape suggested a large input of bacteria.The ∑C21^-/∑C22^+ values varied from 1.82 to 3.9,and C21^+C22 /C28 ^+C 29 values ranged from 1.26 to 6.30,indicating that the sedimentary organic matter mainly originated from marine algae.The CPI and OEP values varied from 1.54 to 2.29 and from 4.48 to 4.82,respectively,with a significant odd even predominance.Pr/Ph values ranged from 0.34 to 0.76,significantly smaller than 1,with a clear distribution of C29 >C27 >C28 and C27 >C29 >C28 for regular steranes and a V-shaped C29 predominance and C27 predominance.This indicated that the sedimentary organic matter in the Prydz Bay originated from a mixed marine/continental source,and was deposited under a strongly reducing environment.The maturity parameters of the sedimentary strata from the Prydz Bay displayed significant inconsistency.Geochemical parameters of hopane C 32 22S/C 32 (22S+22R) and sterane C 29 αββ/(αββ+ααα) suggested a high maturity,but other geochemical parameters such as C29 ααα20S/C29 ααα(20S+20R),CPI and OEP reflected that those of columnar strata were within the range of modern marine sediments (lowly mature to immature),probably resulting from the development of microorganisms.

TP53 gene alteration confers inferior prognosis in refractory/relapse aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma(r/r B-NHL).From September 2016 to September 2020,257 r/r B-NHL patients were assessed for eligibility for two trials in our center,assessing anti-CD19 and anti-CD22 chimeric antigen receptor(CAR19/22)T-cell cocktail treatment alone or in combination with autologous stem cell transplantation(ASCT).TP53 alterations were screened in 123 enrolled patients and confirmed in 60.CAR19/22 T-cell administration resulted in best objective(ORR)and complete(CRR)response rate of 87.1%and 45.2%in patients with TP53 alterations.

对处理溶液类易裂变材料设备室的整体临界安全分析,提出了简化管束设备室整体临界安全分析方法,保守地将设备室内盛装易裂变材料的管道的料液集中布置成为简化管束,并紧贴设备室内反应性最大的设备上,以全面保守地考虑管道对临界安全的影响。基于简化管束模型,针对地震工况下的管道位移,采用保守且合理的模型进行地震工况下设备室整体临界安全分析。计算结果表明,简化管束整体临界安全分析方法比按实际管道布置精细化建模的方法的计算分析过程更简便,是一种合理且保守的考虑管道的设备室整体临界安全分析方法。

Two-step Optimal Allocation of Stationary and Mobile Energy Storage Systems in Resilient Distribution Networks

Energy storage systems (ESSs) are acknowledged to be a promising option to cope with issues in high penetration of renewable energy and guarantee a highly reliable power supply. In this paper, a two-step optimal allocation model is proposed to obtain the optimal allocation (location and size) of stationary ESSs (SESSs) and mobile ESSs (MESSs) in the resilient distribution networks (DNs). In the first step, a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem is formulated to obtain the preselected location of ESSs with consideration of different scenarios under normal operation conditions. In the second step, a two-stage robust optimization model is established to get the optimal allocation results of ESSs under failure operation conditions which are solved by column-and-constraint generation (C&CG) algorithm. A hybrid ESS allocation strategy based on the subjective and objective weight analysis is proposed to give the final allocation scheme of SESSs and MESSs. Finally, the proposed two-step optimal allocation model is demonstrated on a modified IEEE 33-bus system to show its effectiveness and merits.

EuCd_(2)As_(2)was theoretically predicted to be a minimal model of Weyl semimetals with a single pair of Weyl points in the ferromagnet state.However,the heavily p-doped Eu Cd_(2)As_(2)crystals in previous experiments prevent direct identification of the semimetal hypothesis.Here,we present a comprehensive magneto-transport study of high-quality Eu Cd_(2)As_(2)crystals with ultralow bulk carrier density(10^(13)cm^(-3)).In contrast to the general expectation of a Weyl semimetal phase,Eu Cd_(2)As_(2)shows insulating behavior in both antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic states as well as surface-dominated conduction from band bending.Moreover,the application of a dc bias current can dramatically modulate the resistance by over one order of magnitude,and induce a periodic resistance oscillation due to the geometric resonance.Such nonlinear transport results from the high nonequilibrium state induced by an electrical field near the band edge.Our results suggest an insulating phase in Eu Cd_(2)As_(2)and put a strong constraint on the underlying mechanism of anomalous transport properties in this system.

The acidic tumor microenvironment: a target for smart cancer nano-theranostics

The acidic tumor microenvironment(TME), which mainly results from the high glycolytic rate of tumor cells, has been characterized as a hallmark of solid tumors and found to be a pivotal factor participating in tumor progression. Recently, due to the increasing understanding of the acidic TME, it has been shown that the acidic TME could be utilized as a multifaceted target during the design of various pH-responsive nanoscale theranostic platforms for the precise diagnosis and effective treatment of cancers. In this article,we will give a focused overview on the latest progress in utilizing this characteristic acidic TME as the target of nano-theranostics to enable cancer-specific imaging and therapy. The future perspectives in the development of acidic TME-targeting nanomedicine strategies will be discussed afterwards.

The recycling and reutilization of spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have become an important measure to alleviate problems like resource scarcity and environmental pollution.Although some progress has been made,battery recycling technology still faces challenges in terms of efficiency,effectiveness and environmental sustainability.This review aims to systematically review and analyze the current status of spent LIB recycling,and conduct a detailed comparison and evaluation of different recycling processes.In addition,this review introduces emerging recycling techniques,including deep eutectic solvents,molten salt roasting,and direct regeneration,with the intent of enhancing recycling efficiency and diminishing environmental repercussions.Furthermore,to increase the added value of recycled materials,this review proposes the concept of upgrading recycled materials into high value-added functional materials,such as catalysts,adsorbents,and graphene.Through life cycle assessment,the paper also explores the economic and environmental impacts of current battery recycling and highlights the importance that future recycling technologies should achieve a balance between recycling efficiency,economics and environmental benefits.Finally,this review outlines the opportunities and challenges of recycling key materials for next-generation batteries,and proposes relevant policy recommendations to promote the green and sustainable development of batteries,circular economy,and ecological civilization.

A practical synthesis of α-bromo/iodo/chloroketones from olefins under visible-light irradiation conditions

A practical synthesis of α-bromo/iodo/chloroketones from olefins under visible-light irradiation conditions has been developed.In the presence of PhI(OAc)_(2) as promoter and under ambient conditions,the reactions of styrenes and triiodomethane undergo the transformation smoothly to deliver the corresponding a-iodoketones without additional photocatalyst in good yields under sunlight irradiation.Mea nwhile,the reactions of styrenes with tribromomethane and trichloromethane generate the desiredα-bromoketones and a-chloroketones in high yields by using Ru(bpy)_(3)Cl_(2) as a photocatalyst under blue LED(450-455 nm) irradiation.
