Experimental and discrete element numerical analysis of side slope instability induced by fissure water underlying impervious bed

When the sliding mass contains impervious bed, rainfall can infiltrate into mountain via crevices and form higher artesian aquifer at impervious bed inferior. This will decrease slip resistance and increase sliding forces of the sliding mass, thus lowering the safety factor, and inducing landslide disasters. In this paper, a landslide experimental apparatus is designed for experimental studies on the mechanism of this type of landslides. Meanwhile, the non-dimensional parameters in the model experiment are taken into account using dimensional analysis. The experimental results show that (1) the ratio of the cleft water pressure to the overlying pressure is a crucial parameter affecting the stability of the slope; (2) when the shut-in pressure reaches 80% of the normal component of the pressure on the slip surface made up of rock and soil, landslide will occur; (3. the whole slope will start to slide when the shut-in pressure is equal to the normal component of the pressure formed by the overlying rock and soil on the upper 3.% area. In this article, a discrete element method simulation is used to investigate the influence of cleft water pressure and shearing strength on the landslide stability. It can be concluded that the critical value of Ccr, ?cr, which determines the slide mass stability, increases with the increase of the water pressure; if the water pressure reaches a high level, the stability of the slide mass depends mainly on C, while the influence of ? becomes smaller than C.

Conceptual design, data model and key techniques of "Geo-engineer 3. assistant", an underground 3. GIS oriented to geology and mine application, were discussed. In particular, the importance of high-order smoothing triangular pieces to surface's fine expression in geological modeling was emphasized. The contour mode is the most favorite mode of the three modes about surface expression: DEM, TIN and contour. Topology in underground 3. modeling with CAGD was compared. From the view of boundary and coboundary, which is soul of IS 19107 (Geographic information spatial schema), 3. underground topology was re-examined.

Template-free hydrothermal synthesis of single-crystalline SnO_2 nanocauliflowers and their optical properties

Large-scale single-crystalline SnO2 nanocauliflowers were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal growth method without any template. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, field-emission scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM）, en- ergy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, and selected area electron diffraction （SAED）. FE-SEM images show that the as-grown SnO2 nanocauliflowers are constructed of tetragonal prisms with a width of 500-600 nm. XRD, EDS, and SAED results indicate that the as-grown SnO2 nanocauliflowers are single crystalline with the tetragonal rutile crystalline structure. The growth mechanism of SnO2 nanocauliflowers is also preliminarily discussed on the basis of different Sn（OH） 62- concentrations, and it is found that Sn（OH） 62- concentration plays an important role in determining the shape of the prepared SnO2. Room temperature photoluminescence was further carried out on SnO2 nanocauliflowers to investigate their optical properties. An intense blue luminescence centered at a wavelength of 424 nm is observed in the as-grown SnO2 nanocauliflowers.

Semi-solid slurry preparation and rolling of 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel

The preparation and rolling of the semi-solid slurry 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainlesssteel were researched. The experimental results show that when stirred for 2-3.min under the giventest condition, the semi-solid slurry with about 50 percent-60 percent (volume fraction) solid andthe spherical primary austenitic grains in the size of 100-200 mu m can be obtained, and it is easyto be discharged from the bottom little hole of the stirring chamber. The semi-solid slurry of1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel can be rolled into the given plate successfully. However, the solid phaseand liquid phase are easily separated in the rolling process, so that the solid primary austeniticgrains are concentrated in the center and the liquid phase is near the edge of the rolled plate. Thestrengths of the plate rolled in the semi-solid state are higher than that of the traditionallyrepeated hot-rolled plate of 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel.

EffectofEr^(3.) and Nd^(3.)doping on the luminescent properties of BaMgAl_(10)O_(17):Euphosphor

BaMgAl_(10)O_(17):Eu blue phosphors were synthesized and the effect of dopingE^(3.) and Nd^(3.) ions in the phosphor on the luminescent properties was investigated. When thecontent of Er^(3.) and Nd^(3.) ions is small, the phosphor remains single phase and the luminescentintensity of Eu^(2+) increases effectively. When Er^(3.) is doped, the shape of the excitationspectrum of the phosphor in the UV (ultraviolet) region remains unchanged. As Nd^(3.) is doped inthe phosphor, the location and intensity of the two excitation peaks, and the emission intensityratio excited by corresponding UV change dramatically owing to the alternation of crystal fieldsplitting and level barycenter of 4f^6 5d configuration of Eu^(2+) ion.

A comparative study of data-driven battery capacity estimation based on partial charging curves

With its generality and practicality, the combination of partial charging curves and machine learning(ML) for battery capacity estimation has attracted widespread attention. However, a clear classification,fair comparison, and performance rationalization of these methods are lacking, due to the scattered existing studies. To address these issues, we develop 20 capacity estimation methods from three perspectives:charging sequence construction, input forms, and ML models. 22,582 charging curves are generated from 44 cells with different battery chemistry and operating conditions to validate the performance. Through comprehensive and unbiased comparison, the long short-term memory(LSTM) based neural network exhibits the best accuracy and robustness. Across all 6503.tested samples, the mean absolute percentage error(MAPE) for capacity estimation using LSTM is 0.61%, with a maximum error of only 3.94%. Even with the addition of 3.m V voltage noise or the extension of sampling intervals to 60 s, the average MAPE remains below 2%. Furthermore, the charging sequences are provided with physical explanations related to battery degradation to enhance confidence in their application. Recommendations for using other competitive methods are also presented. This work provides valuable insights and guidance for estimating battery capacity based on partial charging curves.

Improvement on strip flatness of cold temper mills by modifying roll contour shape

A study on roll gap profile (strip profile) control was accomplished in a1700 mm single-stand temper mill. Some critical problems such as the deviation of work roll contourcaused by grinding and wear, the effectiveness of work roll bending were discussed. Using a finiteelement model, the effects of roll contours (ground and wear) on strip profile were *** roll bending effect on strip thickness was also analyzed. It is pointed out that there are somespecial features of flatness control in the temper mill: during temper rolling, roll deformation isslight due to small rolling load, and the loaded roll gap profile mainly depends on work rollcontour, while the backup roll has a little effect on gap crown; the effect of bending force ongauge can not be ignored due to the coupling between flatness control and gauge control. A new rollcontour arrangement adaptable to the mill was presented and has been put into practical *** application of the new set of rolls showed some good results: larger crown control range of workroll bender, higher rolling stability, better strip profile and flatness quality.

Migration mechanism of atrazine in the simulated lake icing process at different freezing temperatures based on density function theory

Atrazine causes concern due to its resistant to biodegradation and could be accumulated in aquatic organisms,causing pollution in *** study measured the concentration of atrazine in ice and the water under ice through a simulated icing experiment and calculated the distribution coefficient K to characterize its migration ability in the freezing ***,density functional theory(DFT)calculations were employed to expatiate the migration law of atrazine during icing *** to the results,it could release more energy into the environment when atrazine staying in water phase(-15.077 kcal/mol)than staying in ice phase(-14.3.8 kcal/mol),therefore it was beneficial for the migration of atrazine from ice to *** explains that during the freezing process,the concentration of atrazine in the ice was lower than that in the *** calculations indicated thatwhen the temperature decreases from268 to 248 K,the internal energy contribution of the compound of atrazine and ice molecule(water cluster)decreases at the same vibrational frequency,resulting in an increase in the free energy difference of the compound from-167.946 to-165.3.0 kcal/*** demonstrated the diminished migratory capacity of *** study revealed the environmental behavior of atrazine during lake freezing,which was beneficial for the management of atrazine and other pollutants during freezing and environmental protection.

Fluid Flow Behavior of Liquid in Cylindrical Vessels Stirred by One or Two Air Jets

Based on the two-phase model (Eulerian-Eulerian model), the three dimensional fluid flow in water and that liquid steel systems stirred by one or two multiple gas jets are simulated. In the Eulerian-Eulerian two-phase model, the gas and the liquid phase are considered to be two different continuous fluids interacting with each other through the finite inter-phase areas. The exchange between the phases is represented by source terms in conversation equations. Turbulence is assumed to be a property of the liquid phase. A new turbulence modification - model is introduced to consider the bubbles movement contribution to and . The dispersion of phases due to turbulence is represented by introducing a diffusion term in mass conservation equation. The mathematical simulation agrees well with the experiment results. The study results indicate that the distance of two nozzles has big effect on fluid flow behavior in the vessel. Using two gas injection nozzles at the half radii of one diameter of the bottom generates a much better mixing than with one nozzle under the condition of the same total gas flow rate.
