Jute(Corchorus spp.)is a member of the Malvaceae family,which comprises more than 100 *** systematic positions of jute species have remained *** are maternally inherited and their genomes are widely used for plant phylogenetic *** the present study,the chloroplast genomes of Corchorus capsularis and *** were assembled,with sizes of respectively 161,088 and 161,766 *** genomes contained 112 unique genes(78 protein-coding,four rRNA,and 30 tRNA genes).Four regionswith high variation between the two species were located in single-copy rather than inverted-repeat regions.A total of 66 simple sequence repeats(SSRs)were identified in the *** chloroplast genome and 56 in that of *** of the two chloroplast genome sequences permitted the evaluation of nucleotide variation including 2417 single-nucleotide polymorphisms sites and 294 insertion or deletion sites,of which one marker(cpInDel 205)could discriminate the two jute *** of the *** and *** chloroplast genomeswith those of other species in theMalvaceae revealed breakpoints in the accD locus,which is involved in fatty acid synthesis,in *** and *** finding suggests that genes from the chloroplast genomemight have been transferred to the nuclear genome in some Corchorus *** hypothesis was supported by synteny analysis of the accD region among the nuclear,chloroplast,and mitochondrial *** our knowledge,this is the first report of the assembled chloroplast genome sequences of *** and *** and *** are closely related to Gossypium species and there are abundant microstructure variations between these two *** results will expand our understanding of the systematics of species in the Malvaceae.

V-shaped substrate for surface and volume enhanced Raman spectroscopic analysis of microplastics

Research on the microplastics(MPs)is developing towards smaller size,but corresponding methods for the rapid and accurate detection of microplastics,especially nanoplastics still present *** this work,a novel surface and volume enhanced Raman spectroscopy substrate was developed for the rapid detection of microplastic particles below 5μ*** gold nanoparticles(NPs)were deposited onto the surface and into the V-shaped nanopores of anodized aluminum oxide(AAO)through magnetron sputtering or ion sputtering,and then AuNPs@V-shaped AAO SERS substrate was obtained and studied for microplastic *** performance of AuNPs@V-shaped AAO SERS substrate was evaluated through the detection of polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate *** indicated that individual polystyrene sphere with a diameter of 1μm can be well detected on AuNPs@V-shaped AAO SERS substrate,and the maximum enhancement factor(EF)can reach *** addition,microplastics in ambient atmospheric samples were collected and tested to verify the effectiveness of the AuNPs@V-shaped AAO SERS substrate in the real *** study provides a rapid,economic and simple method for detecting and identifying microplastics with small size.

Hydroelastic dynamic characteristics of a slender axis-symmetric body

The slender axis-symmetric submarine body moving in the vertical plane is the object of our investigation.A coupling model is developed where displacements of a solid body as a Euler beam(consisting of rigid motions and elastic deformations) and fluid pressures are employed as basic independent variables,including the interaction between hydrodynamic forces and structure dynamic *** the hydrodynamic forces,depending on and conversely influencing body motions,are taken into account as the governing *** expressions of fluid pressure are derived based on the potential *** characteristics of fluid pressure,including its components,distribution and effect on structure dynamics,are *** the coupling model is solved numerically by means of a finite element method(FEM).This avoids the complicacy,combining CFD(fluid) and FEM(structure),of direct numerical simulation,and allows the body with a non-strict ideal shape so as to be more suitable for practical *** illustrative example is given in which the hydroelastic dynamic characteristics,natural frequencies and modes of a submarine body are analyzed and compared with experimental *** agreement is observed and the model presented in this paper is shown to be valid.

A photoelectrochemical cell for pollutant degradation and simultaneous H_2 eneration

A visible-light driven photoelectrochemical （PEC） cell comprised of nanostructured BiVO4 photoanode and Pt cathode was established for organic compounds degradation with simultaneous H2 generation. BiV04 electrode film fabricated by a simple drip-coating method showed a porous nanostructure and an intense absorption in visible light range. The PEC process possesses a rate of about 0.3207 h 1 for MO degradation, which is 8 times and 64 times faster than electrocatalytic （EC） and photocatalytic （PC） process, respectively. A simultaneous H2 generation via the PEC process was also observed and a rate of 34.441~molh 1 cm-2 for H2 generation was measured, which is 3 folds more efficient than the EC process. The nanostructured BiV04 photoanode shows outstanding PEC photocurrent density and recycle performance. The proposed PEC system would be a promising strategy for wastewater treatment and energy recovery with an outstanding stability and recyclability performance.

Characteristics of the pollutant emissions in a tunnel of Shanghai on a weekday

Tunnel displays a typical semi-closed environment, and multitudes of the pollutants tend to accumulate. The samples of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter （PM） were collected from the Xiangyin tunnel at Shanghai to investigate the characteristics of the pollutant emissions. The results indicated that both gaseous pollutants and PM exhibited much higher concentrations during the rush hours in the morning and at night due to vehicle emission. Two peaks of the PM concentration were observed in the scope of 0.7-1.1 and 3.3-4.7 μm, accounting for 14.6% and 20.3% of the total concentrations, respectively. Organic matter （OM）, EC, and many water-soluble ions were markedly higher at the rush hours in the morning than those at night, implicating comprehensive effects of vehicle types and traffic volume. The particle number concentrations exhibited two peaks at Aitken mode （25 nm and 100 rim） and accumulation mode （600 nm）, while the particle volume concentration displayed high values at the accumulation mode （100-500 nm） and coarse mode （2.5-4.0 μm）. The peak around 100 nm was detected in the morning rush hours, but it diminished with the decrease of the traffic volume. Individual-particle analysis revealed that main particles in the tunnel were Fe-rich particles, K-rich particles, mineral particles, Ca-S rich particles and A1-Si particles. The particles collected at the rush hours displayed marked different morphologies, element concentrations and particle sizes compared to the ones collected at the non-rush period. The data presented herein could shed a light on the feature of vehicle emissions.

Monolayer-ordered gold nanoring arrays were prepared by ion-sputtering method and used as surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)substrates to test the individual atmospheric aerosols *** to other methods used for testing atmospheric aerosols particles,the collection and subsequent detection in our work is performed directly on the gold nanoring SERS substrate without any treatment of the *** SERS performance can be tuned by changing the depth of the gold nanoring cavity as originating from coupling of dipolar modes at the inner and outer surfaces of the *** electric field exhibits uniform enhancement and polarization in the ordered Au nanoring substrate,which can improve the accuracy for detecting atmospheric aerosol *** with Raman mapping,the information about chemical composition of individual atmospheric aerosols particle and distribution of specific components can be presented *** results show the potential of SERS in enabling improved analysis of aerosol particle chemical composition,mixing state,and other related physicochemical properties.

A comparative study of bismuth-based photocatalysts with titanium dioxide for perfluorooctanoic acid degradation

Bismuth-based material has been broadly studied due to their potential applications in various areas,especially used as promising photocatalysts for the removal of persistent organic pollutants(POPs) and several approaches have been adopted to tailor their ***,the bismuth-based photocatalysts(BiOCl,BiPO4,BiOPO4/BiOCl) were synthesized by hydrothermal method and advanced characterization techniques(XRD,SEM,EDS elemental mapping,Raman and UV-vis DRS) were employed to analyze their morphology,crystal structure,and purity of the prepared *** synthesized photocatalysts offered a praiseworthy activity as compared to commercial TiO2(P25) for the degradation of model pollutant perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) under 254 nm UV *** was interesting to observe that all synthesized photocatalysts show significant degradation of PFOA and their photocatalytic activity follows the order:bismuth-based catalysts> TiO2(P25)> without ***-based catalysts degraded the PFOA by almost 99.99% within 45 min while this degradation efficiency was 66.05% with TiO2 under the same reaction *** work shows that the bismuth-based photocatalysts are promising in PFOA treatment.

Impact of greenhouse gas CO_(2) on the heterogeneous reaction of SO_(2) on alpha-Al_(2)O_(3)

The heterogeneous reaction of SO_(2) on mineral dust surfaces is generally considered as an important chemical pathway for secondary sulfate formation in the *** this day,there are no reported studies that assess the impact of atmospheric CO_(2) in sulfate production on mineral dust *** this work,we investigate the impact of CO_(2) on SO_(2) uptake on dust proxy aluminum oxide particles using a diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS).CO_(2) is demonstrated to suppress the heterogeneous oxidation of SO_(2) on alpha-Al2 O_(3).Compared to that measured in the CO_(2)-free case,the uptake coefficient is decreased by nearly 57%when Al_(2)O_(3) particles are exposed to the gas flow with atmospheric CO_(2) at a relative humidity(RH)of 25%.It is also found that there is a balance between the yield of active moiety-OH provided by AI(OH)3(CO)(OH)2 clusters and the loss of basic hydroxyl group on aluminum oxide surfaces blocked by CO_(2)-derived(bi)carbonate *** work,for the first time,reveals a negative effect of atmospheric CO_(2) on the sulfate formation,which potentially decreases solarradiation scattering and further exacerbates global warming.

Genetic diversity and DNA fingerprinting in jute(Corchorus spp.) based on SSR markers

Genetic diversity analysis and DNA finger printing are very useful in breeding programs,seed conservation and management. Jute(Corchorus spp.) is the second most important natural fiber crop after cotton. DNA fingerprinting studies in jute using SSR markers are limited. In this study, 58 jute accessions, including two control varieties(Huangma 179 and Kuanyechangguo) from the official variety registry in China were evaluated with 28 pairs of SSR primers. A total of 184 polymorphic loci were identified. Each primer detected 3 to 15 polymorphic loci, with an average of 6.6. The 58 jute accessions were DNA-fingerprinted with 67 SSR markers from the 28 primer pairs. These markers differentiated the 58 jute accessions from one another, with Co SSR305-120 and Co SSR174-195 differentiating Huangma 179 and Kuanyechangguo, respectively. NTSYS-pc2.10 software was used to analyze the genetic diversity in the 58 jute accessions. Their genetic similarity coefficients ranged from 0.520 to 0.910 with an average of 0.749, indicating relatively great genetic diversity among them. The 58 jute accessions were divided into four groups with the coefficient 0.710 used as a value for classification, consistent with their species and pedigrees. All these results may be useful both for protection of intellectual property rights of jute accessions and for jute improvement.

Chlorophyll sensitized BiVO4 as photoanode for solar water splitting and CO2 conversion

Converting solar energy into valuable hydrogen and hydrocarbon fuels through photoelectrocatalytic water splitting and CO2 reduction is highly promising in addressing the growing demand for renewable and clean energy resources. However, the solar-to-fuel conversion efficiency is still very low due to limited light absorption and rapid bulk recombination of charge carriers. In this work, we present chlorophyll （Chl） and its derivative sodium copper chlorophyllin （ChlCuNa）, as dye sensitizers, modified BiVO4 to improve the photoelectrochemical （PEC） performance. The photocurrent of BiVO4 is surprisingly decreased after a direct sensitization of Chl while the sensitization of ChlCuNa obviously enhances photocurrent of BiV04 electrodes by improved surface hydrophilicity and extended light absorption. ChlCuNa-sensitized BiVO4 achieves an improved H2 evolution rate of 5.43/~molh l cm 2 in water splitting and an enhanced HCOOH production rate 0f2.15 p^mol h 1 cm 2 in CO2 PEC reduction, which are 1.9 times and 2.4 times higher than pristine BiV04, respectively. It is suggested that the derivative ChlCuNa is a more effective sensitizer for solar-to-fuel energy conversion and CO2 utilization than Chl.
