Topology Data Analysis-Based Error Detection for Semantic Image Transmission with Incremental Knowledge-Based HARQ

Semantic communication(SemCom)aims to achieve high-fidelity information delivery under low communication consumption by only guaranteeing semantic ***,semantic communication still suffers from unexpected channel volatility and thus developing a re-transmission mechanism(e.g.,hybrid automatic repeat request[HARQ])becomes *** that regard,instead of discarding previously transmitted information,the incremental knowledge-based HARQ(IK-HARQ)is deemed as a more effective mechanism that could sufficiently utilize the information ***,considering the possible existence of semantic ambiguity in image transmission,a simple bit-level cyclic redundancy check(CRC)might compromise the performance of ***,there emerges a strong incentive to revolutionize the CRC mechanism,thus more effectively reaping the benefits of both SemCom and *** this paper,built on top of swin transformer-based joint source-channel coding(JSCC)and IK-HARQ,we propose a semantic image transmission framework *** particular,different from the conventional CRC,we introduce a topological data analysis(TDA)-based error detection method,which capably digs out the inner topological and geometric information of images,to capture semantic information and determine the necessity for *** numerical results validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed SC-TDA-HARQ framework,especially under the limited bandwidth condition,and manifest the superiority of TDA-based error detection method in image transmission.

Heavy metal distribution of natural and reclaimed tidal riparian wetlands in south estuary, China

We evaluated the distribution and accumulation of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in two plant species （Scirpus tripueter Linn. and Cyperus malaccensis Lam.）, in water and soils sampled from the reclaimed tidal riparian wetlands （RTRWs） and the natural riparian wetlands （NRWs） in the Pearl River Estuary （PRE）. The results showed that the concentrations of studied heavy metals in soils exceeded the eco-toxic threshold recommended by US EPA. The concentrations of Cd, Cr and Zn in plants may lead to toxic effiects. The heavy metal concentrations were high in water and low in soils of RTRWs compared with that in the NRWs. The accumulation of heavy metals in the roots of plants was higher in NRWs than those in RTRWs while the opposite result was found for heavy metal accumulation in shoots. Based on the bioaccumulation and translocation factors, the plants in NRWs had a higher capacity to accumulate heavy metals while higher abilities to transport heavy metals from roots to shoots were observed in RTRWs. Heavy metal contaminations in RTRWs were dominated by anthropogenic sources from both side uplands and river water, whereas in NRWs, the metal accumulations were simultaneously affected by anthropogenic and natural factors

Thermal Transport Mechanism of Amorphous HfO_(2):A Molecular Dynamics Based Study

Amorphous hafnium dioxide(a-HfO_(2))has attracted increasing interest in the application of semiconductor devices due to its high dielectric ***,the thermal transport properties of a-HfO_(2) are not well understood,which hinders its potential application in *** this work,we systematically investigate the thermal transport property of a-HfO_(2) using the molecular dynamics *** non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations reveal that the thermal conductivity of a-HfO;is length-dependent below 100 *** decomposed heat current further proves that the thermal transport of propagons and diffusons is sensitive to the system *** thermal conductivity is found to increase with temperature using Green-Kubo mode *** also quantify the contribution of each carrier to the thermal conductivity at different *** find that propagons are more important than diffusons in thermal transport at low temperatures(<100 K).In comparison,diffusons dominate heat transport at high *** have negligible contribution to the total thermal conductivity.

Automatic Malware Classification via PRICoLBP

Creating effective features is a critical issue in malware analysis. It requires a proper tradeoff between discriminative power and invariance. Previous studies have shown that it is fairly effective to design features based on the binary code. However, the current existing binary-based features seldom take into consideration the problem of obfuscation, such as relocated sections, incomplete code and redundant operations. In this paper, we propose a novel Pairwise rotation invariant co-occurrence local binary pattern(PRICo LBP) feature, and further extend it to incorporate the Term frequency-inverse document frequency(TFIDF) transform. Different from other static analysis techniques, our method not only achieves better linear separability, but also appears to be more resilient to obfuscation. In addition, we evaluate PRICo LBPTFIDF comprehensively on three datasets from different perspectives, e.g., classification performance, classifier selection and performance against obfuscation. What’s more,we compare our PRICoLBP-TFIDF method with other techniques, and demonstrate that PRICo LBP-TFIDF is quite an efficient and effective tradeoff between discriminative power and invariance.

Influence of zeta potential on the flocculation of cyanobacteria cells using chitosan modified soil

Using chitosan modified soil to flocculate and sediment algal cells has been considered as a promising strategy to combat cyanobacteria blooms in natural waters. However, the flocculation efficiency often varies with algal cells with different zeta potential（ZP） attributed to different growth phases or water conditions. This article investigated the relationship between ZP of Microcystis aeruginosa and its influence to the flocculation efficiency using chitosan modified soil. Results suggested that the optimal removal efficiency was obtained when the ZP was between- 20.7 and- 6.7 m V with a removal efficiency of more than 80% in 30 min and large floc size of 〉 350 μm. When the algal cells were more negatively charged than- 20.7 m V, the effect of chitosan modified soil was depressed（〈 60%） due to the insufficient charge density of chitosan to neutralize and destabilize the algal suspension. When the algal cells were less negative than- 6.7 m V or even positively charged, a small floc size（〈 120 μm） was formed, which may be difficult to sink under natural water conditions. Therefore, manipulation of ZP provided a viable tool to improve the flocculation efficiency of chitosan modified soil and an important guidance for practical engineering of cyanobacteria bloom control.

Three eusauropod teeth(SDUST-V1064,PMOL-AD00176,PMOL-ADt0005)are reported from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Ningcheng,southeastern Inner Mongolia,*** of them(SDUST-V1064,PMOL-AD00176)are assigned to early-diverging titanosauriforms in having slightly mesiodistal expansion at the base of the tooth crown,a slenderness index value>2.0 and<4.0,and D-shaped cross ***,SDUST-V1064 and PMOL-AD00176 are referred as an Euhelopus-like titanosauriform on the basis of having a sub-circular boss on the lingual surface and an asymmetrical crown-root margin which slants apically,*** scan data of SDUST-V1064 reveals new dental information of early-diverging titanosauriforms,for example,the enamel on the labial side thicker than that on the lingual side,an enamel/dentine ratio of 0.26 and a boss present on the lingual side of the dentine of the crown.

While boron nitride(BN) is widely recognized as the most promising thermally conductive filler for rapidly developing high-power electronic devices due to its excellent thermal conductivity and dielectric properties,a great challenge is the poor vertical thermal conductivity when embedded in composites owing to the poor interracial interaction causing severe phonon ***,we report a novel surface modification strategy called the "self-modified nanointerface" using BN nanocrystals(BNNCs) to efficiently link the interface between BN and the polymer *** with ice-press assembly method,an only 25 wt% BNembedded composite film can not only possess an in-plane thermal conductivity of 20.3 W m-1K-1but also,more importantly,achieve a through-plane thermal conductivity as high as 21.3 W m-1K-1,which is more than twice the reported maximum due to the ideal phonon spectrum matching between BNNCs and BN fillers,the strong interaction between the self-modified fillers and polymer matrix,as well as ladder-structured BN *** excellent thermal conductivity has been verified by theoretical calculations and the heat dissipation of a *** study provides an innovative design principle to tailor composite interfaces and opens up a new path to develop high-performance composites.

Filtering Chinese Image Spam Using Pseudo-OCR

For image spam filtering, the Optical character recognition(OCR) based methods often achieve a better performance due to the more complex structure of recognizing corresponding text. However, applying traditional OCR techniques usually introduced shortcomings like the expensive computational cost, vulnerability to image noises and artificial interferences, especially for Chinese image spam filtering. So, by optimizing recognition procedure of traditional OCR, we propose the idea of pseudo-OCR more suitable for Chinese image spam filtering. During which discriminating the potential image spam character features from ham ones is sufficient, instead of recognizing them. What’s more, a novel Chinese key-point based character feature specific for pseudo-OCR is also devised and extracted using a carefully designed algorithm, which outperforms classic corner detection methods in finding such key-points. Experiment results show that our proposed system usually has a better performance than traditional OCR based method while maintaining a low false positive rate.
