Xueshuantong improves cerebral blood perfusion in elderly patients with lacunar infarction

A total of 64 patients with acute lacunar infarction were enrolled within 24 hours of onset. The patients received conventional therapy （antiplatelet drugs and hypolipidemic drugs） alone or conventional therapy plus 450 mg Xueshuantong once a day. The main ingredient of the Xueshuantong lyophilized powder used for injection was Panax notoginseng saponins. Assessments were made at admission and at discharge using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, the Activity of Daily Living and the Mini-Mental State Examination. Additionally, the relative cerebral blood flow, relative cerebral blood volume and relative mean transit time in the region of interest were calculated within 24 hours after the onset of lacunar infarction, using dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance perfusion imaging technology. Patients underwent a follow-up MRI scan after 4 weeks of treatment. There was an improvement in the Activity of Daily Living scores and a greater reduction in the scores on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale in the treatment group than in the control group. However, the Mini-Mental State Examination scores showed no significant differences after 4 weeks of treatment. Compared with the control group, the relative cerebral blood flow at discharge had increased and showed a greater improvement in the treatment group. Furthermore, there was a reduction in the relative mean transit time at discharge and the value was lower in the treatment group than in the control group. The experimental findings indicate that Xueshuantong treatment improves neurological deficits in elderly patients with lacunar infarction, and the mechanism may be related to increased cerebral perfusion.

Poleroviruses,which are distributed worldwide,infect many crops of economic importance and cause severe plant diseases.Brassica yellows virus(Br YV),which has three genotypes,A,B,and C,is a newly identified polerovirus infecting crucifer crops in China,but its distribution is still unclear.Here,we report the distribution and prevalence levels of the three Br YV genotypes in crucifer crops in China.A total of 570 crucifer leaf samples randomly collected from 22 provinces,four ethnic minority autonomous regions,and three municipalities in China were tested for Br YV.RT-PCR detection showed that 97 of the field samples were positive for Br YV,and the average incidence of Br YV was 17.0%.The virus was detected in 22 provinces,with high incidences in north,northwest,and northeast China.The multiplex RT-PCR amplification of the three Br YV genotypes revealed that both single and mixed infections occurred.Among the Br YV infections,38.1% were mixinfected by more than two viral genotypes,and 8.2% samples were mix-infected by three viral genotypes.Our findings indicated a widespread prevalence of Br YV in China,and Br YV mixed infections with Turnip mosaic virus and Cucumber mosaic virus in crucifer crops are common.This study is the first large-scale survey of Br YV in crucifer crops in China.The information generated in this investigation will contribute to the national prevention and control of viral diseases.

Abstract An f-coloring of a graph G is an edge-coloring of G such that each color appears at each vertex v ∈ V（G） at most f（v） times. The f-core of G is the subgraph of G induced by the vertices v of degree d（v） = f（v）maxv∈y（G）{ [d（v）/f（v）l}. In this paper, we find some necessary conditions for a simple graph, whose f-core has maximum degree two, to be of class 2 for f-colorings.

Treatment of Lung Cancer with Orally Administered Chinese Herbal Medicine: An Evidence Map between 1970–2020

Objective: Through showing the full picture of double-arm controlled clinical research and systematic review evidence in the field of orally administrated Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) for treatment of lung cancer, to provide a reference for future clinical research and to indicate a direction for future systematic reviews. Methods: A comprehensive search of clinical controlled studies was performed regarding orally administered CHM treatment for lung cancer published from January 1970 to September 2020. The language was restricted to Chinese and English. Relevant data were extracted, the quality of systematic reviews was evaluated, and the research evidence was visually displayed. Results: Randomized controlled trials were the most common type of research design. The research sample sizes were typically small. Oral CHM showed certain curative advantages in treating lung cancer. The key stages in oral CHM intervention for lung cancer are chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and late palliative treatment. The advantageous outcomes of oral CHM treatment of lung cancer are the short-term efficacy, quality of life, and adverse reactions. The perioperative stage, overall survival, pharmacoeconomic evaluation, and Chinese medicine decoctions are weak research areas. Conclusions: CHM has staged and therapeutic advantages in treating lung cancer. The overall methodological quality is poor, and the level of evidence requires improvement. It is necessary to carry out large-scale, standardized, and higherquality research in the superior and weak areas of CHM treatment of lung cancer.

In August 2021,three students with diarrhea from the same school visited a local hospital in the S district of Beijing.An epidemic investigation showed that there were more students with diarrhea in the same school and they had one meal together.Campylobacter jejuni was isolated from both patients with diarrhea and asymptomatic food handlers;however,the latter also carried Campylobacter coli.Phylogenomic analysis showed that there was a campylobacteriosis outbreak among the students,and the asymptomatic food handler may have been the source of the infection.Routine inspection and surveillance for Campylobacter is needed for the food producing staff,particularly those cooking in the cafeteria in schools or other public food services.

Neurodegenerative disease is one of the serious diseases of the human nervous system.There is no effective way to treat neurodegenerative diseases.Flavors such as curcumin,coumarin,have attracted increasing attention due to having a beneficial therapeutic effect on Alzheimer＇s disease and Parkinson＇s disease.But the use of most drugs is limited in clinical treatment because of blood-brain barrier.The use of nano-drug carriers such as liposomes,polymer micelles,polymer nanoparticles and magnetic nanoparticles,which can carry drugs across the blood-brain barrier,has brought hope for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

The utilization of highly reactive and high-strength coke can enhance the efficiency of blast furnace by promoting indirect reduction of iron oxides.Iron compounds,as the main constituent in iron-bearing minerals,have aroused wide interest in preparation of highly reactive iron coke.However,the effects of iron compounds on pyrolysis behavior of coal and metallurgical properties of resultant cokes are still unclear.Thus,three iron compounds,i.e.,Fe;O;,Fe;O;and FeC;O;·2H;O,were adopted to investigate their effects on coal pyrolysis behavior and metallurgical properties of the resultant cokes.The results show that iron compounds have slight effects on the thermal behavior of coal blend originated from thermogravimetric and differential thermogravimetric curves.The apparent activation energy varies with different iron compounds ranging from 94.85 to 110.11 kJ/mol in the primary pyrolysis process,while lower apparent activation energy is required for the secondary pyrolysis process.Iron compounds have an adverse influence on the mechanical properties and carbon structure of cokes.Strong correlations exist among coke reactivity,coke strength after reaction,and the content of metallic iron in cokes or the values of crystallite stacking height,which reflect the dependency of thermal property on metallic iron content and carbon structure of cokes.

Developing high performances aqueous rechargeable batteries is imperative and valuable.Herein,a novel aqueous rechargeable nickel//bismuth battery is developed based on highly porous Bi_(2)WO_(6) and Co_(0.5)Ni_(0.5)MoO_(4) microspheres as electrode active materials.Porous Bi_(2)WO6 microspheres assembled from nanosheets as anode active materials can afford a specific capacity of179.2 mAh·g^(-1) at 1 A·g^(-1),rate capability of 74.7%in 1-20 A·g^(-1),and capacity retention of 57.2%for 1500 cycles at 15 A·g^(-1).Owing to the highly porous microsphere with’ribbon’-like and intertwined nanolayers morphology,the screened Co0.5Ni0.5MoO4 cathode active materials present an outstanding specific surface area of 293 m^(2)·g^(-1)and excellent electrochemical performance(such as superior specific capacity of 113.2 mAh·g^(-1) at 1 A·g^(-1),high rate performance of 51.8%in 1-15 A·g^(-1),and good capacity retention of 48.5%for 4600 cycles at15 A·g^(-1)).The corresponding aqueous rechargeable nickel//bismuth battery delivers the maximum energy density and power density of 35.8 Wh·kg^(-1) and3238.5 W·kg^(-1),respectively.The present research would offer a worthwhile guidance for the effective construction of electrode active materials for aqueous rechargeable nickel//bismuth batteries.
