Distributions of Visual Receptive Fields from Retinotopic to Craniotopic Coordinates in the Lateral Intraparietal Area and Frontal Eye Fields of the Macaque

Even though retinal images of objects change their locations following each eye movement,we perceive a stable and continuous *** possible mechanism by which the brain achieves such visual stability is to construct a craniotopic coordinate by integrating retinal and extraretinal *** have been several proposals on how this may be done,including eye-position modulation(gain fields)of retinotopic receptive fields(RFs)and craniotopic *** the present study,we investigated coordinate systems used by RFs in the lateral intraparietal(LIP)cortex and frontal eye fields(FEF)and compared the two *** mapped the two-dimensional RFs of neurons in detail under two eye fixations and analyzed how the RF of a given neuron changes with eye position to determine its coordinate *** same recording and analysis procedures were applied to the two brain *** found that,in both areas,RFs were distributed from retinotopic to craniotopic *** was no significant difference between the distributions in the LIP and *** a small fraction of neurons was fully craniotopic,whereas most neurons were between the retinotopic and craniotopic *** distributions were strongly biased toward the retinotopic side but with significant craniotopic *** results suggest that there is only weak evidence for craniotopic RFs in the LIP and FEF,and that transformation from retinotopic to craniotopic coordinates in these areas must rely on other factors such as gain fields.

Two MADS-box proteins,AGL9 and AGL15,recruit the FIS-PRC2 complex to trigger the phase transition from endosperm proliferation to embryo development in Arabidopsis

Spatiotemporal regulation of gene expression by polycomb repressive complex 2(PRc2)is critical for animal and plant *** Arabidopsis fertilization independent seed(FIS)-PRC2 complex functions specifically during plant reproduction from gametogenesis to seed *** a double fertilization event,triploid endosperm proliferates early,followed by the growth of a diploid embryo,which replaces the endosperm in Arabidopsis and many *** genes critical for endosperm proliferation such as IKkU2 and minI3 are activated after *** we report that two MADS-box AGAMOUS-LIKE(AGL)proteins associate with the key endosperm proliferation loci and recruit the FIS-PRC2 repressive complex at 4-5 days after pollination(DAP).Interestingly,AGL9 and AGL15 only accumulate toward the end of endosperm proliferation at 4-5 DAP and promote the deposition of H3K27me3 marks at key endosperm proliferation *** of AGL9 and AGL15 or overexpression of AGL9 or AGL15 significantly influence endosperm proliferation and ***-wide analysis with cleavage Under Targets and tagmentation(CUT&Tag)sequencing and RNA sequencing revealed the landscape of endosperm H3K27me3 marks and gene expression profiles in Col-0 and agl9 ***&Tag qPCR also demonstrated the occupancy of the two MADS-box proteins and FIS-PRC2 on a few representative target *** studies suggest that MADS-box proteins could potentially recruit PRc2 to regulate many other developmental processes in plants or even in fungi and animals.

Facile synthesis of composite polyferric magnesium-silicate-sulfate coagulant with enhanced performance in water and wastewater

The coagulation process is a widely applied technology in water and wastewater *** composite polyferric mag-nesium-silicate-sulfate(PFMS)coagulants were synthesized using Na_(2)SiO_(3)·9H_(2)O,Fe_(2)(SO_(4))_(3),and MgSO_(4) as raw materials in this *** effects of aging time,Fe:Si:Mg,and OH:M molar ratios(M represents the metal ions)on the coagulation performance of the as-pre-pared PFMS were systematically investigated to obtain optimum *** results showed that PFMS coagulant exhibited good co-agulation properties in the treatment of simulated humic acid-kaolin surface water and reactive dye *** the molar ratio was controlled at Fe:Si:Mg=2:2:1 and OH:M=0.32,the obtained PFMS presented excellent stability and a high coagulation *** removal efficiency of ultraviolet UV254 was 99.81%,and the residual turbidity of the surface water reached 0.56 NTU at a dosage of 30 mg·L^(-1).After standing the coagulant for 120 d in the laboratory,the removal efficiency of UV254 and residual turbidity of the surface wa-ter were 88.12%and 0.68 NTU,respectively,which accord with the surface water treatment *** addition,the coagulation performance in the treatment of reactive dye wastewater was greatly improved by combining the advantages of magnesium and iron *** with polyferric silicate-sulfate(PFS)and polymagnesium silicate-sulfate(PMS),the PFMS coagulant played a better decolor-ization role within the pH range of 7-13.

Ultrahigh performance passive radiative cooling by hybrid polar dielectric metasurface thermal emitters

Real-world passive radiative cooling requires highly emissive,selective,and omnidirectional thermal emitters to maintain the radiative cooler at a certain temperature below the ambient temperature while maximizing the net cooling *** various selective thermal emitters have been demonstrated,it is still challenging to achieve these conditions sim-ultaneously because of the extreme difficulty in controlling thermal emission of photonic structures in *** we demonstrated hybrid polar dielectric metasurface thermal emitters with machine learning inverse design,en-abling a high emissivity of~0.92 within the atmospheric transparency window 8-13μm,a large spectral selectivity of~1.8 and a wide emission angle up to 80 degrees,*** selective and omnidirectional thermal emitter has led to a new record of temperature reduction as large as~15.4°C under strong solar irradiation of~800 W/m2,signific-antly surpassing the state-of-the-art *** designed structures also show great potential in tackling the urban heat island effect,with modelling results suggesting a large energy saving and deployment area *** research will make significant impact on passive radiative cooling,thermal energy photonics and tackling global climate change.

Unlock the full potential of carbon cloth-based scaffolds towards magnesium metal storage via regulation on magnesiophilicity and surface geometric structure

The development of rechargeable magnesium(Mg) batteries is of practical significance to upgrade the electric energy storage devices due to exceptional capacity and abundant resources of Mg-metal ***,the reversible Mg electrochemistry suffers from unsatisfied rate capability and lifespan,mainly caused by non-uniform distribution of *** this work,a fresh design concept of threedimensional carbon cloths scaffolds is proposed to overcome the uncontrollable Mg growth via homogenizing electric field and improving magnesiophilicity.A microscopic smooth and nitrogen-containing defective carbonaceous layer is constructed through a facile pyrolysis of ZIF8 on carbon *** revealed by finite element simulation and DFT calculation results,the smooth surface endows with uniform electric field distribution and simultaneously the nitrogen-doping species enable good magnesiophilicity of *** fine and uniform Mg nucleus as well as the inner electrodeposit behavior are also *** a result,an exceptional cycle life of 500 cycles at 4.0 mA cm^(-2) and 4.0 mA h cm^(-2) is firstly realized to our best ***,the functional scaffolds can be cycled for over 2200 h at 2.0 mA cm^(-2) under a normalized capacity of 5.0 mA h cm^(-2),far exceeding previous *** work offers an effective approach to enable the full potential of carbon cloths-based scaffolds towards metal storage for next generation battery applications.

Controllable split polarization singularities for ultra-precise displacement sensing

The topic of optical precise displacement measurement has garnered significant attention and generated widespread interest recently. The use of optical singularity offers a potential solution for this purpose, although effectively manipulating the singularity in an ideal manner remains challenging. In this work, we propose a theoretical approach to achieve controllable position modulation of the C-point in the focal plane, whose spatial position can be easily modulated by adjusting the relative offset factor β and the offset angle α of an azimuthal polarization beam(APB), while the interval and orientation of the C-points can be flexibly regulated. Notably, the chiral polarization state undergoes a distinct reversal along the link-line connecting the two C-points, thereby providing a promising approach for accurate displacement sensing. To evaluate its sensing characteristics, the varying pattern of the scattered field intensity is monitored when sweeping a gold helix and nanoparticle along the link-line. The results of simulation quality index Q verify that the equilibrium factor of the scattering field possesses an obvious linear relationship with the displacement, signifying a precise sub-nanometric *** research introduces new methods for the flexible control of polarization singularities in tightly focused fields,thereby enhancing the utilization of circular polarization properties near C-points for displacement *** findings not only enrich the field of nanometer measurement technology but also pave the way for new avenues of research in this domain.

Thermally Conductive,Healable Glass Fiber Cloth Reinforced Polymer Composite based onβ-Hydroxyester Bonds Crosslinked Epoxy with Improved Heat Resistance

To simultaneously endow thermal conductivity,high glass transition temperature(Tg)and healing capability to glass fiber/epoxy(GFREP)composite,dynamic crosslinked epoxy resin bearing reversibleβ-hydroxyl ester bonds was reinforced with boron nitride nanosheets modified glass fiber cloth(GFC@BNNSs).The in-plane heat conduction paths were constructed by electrostatic self-assembly of polyacrylic acid treated GFC and polyethyleneimine decorated ***,the GFC@BNNSs were impregnated with the mixture of lower concentration(3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane grafted BN micron sheets,3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl 3,4-epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate and hexahydro-4-methylphthalic anhydride,which accounted for establishing the through-plane heat transport pathways and avoiding serious deterioration of mechanical *** resultant GFREP composite containing less boron nitride particles(17.6 wt%)exhibited superior in-plane(3.29 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))and through-plane(1.16 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))thermal conductivities,as well as high Tg of 204℃(Tg of the unfilled epoxy=177℃).The reversible transesterification reaction enabled closure of interlaminar cracks within the composite,achieving decent healing efficiencies estimated by means of tensile strength(71.2%),electrical breakdown strength(83.6%)and thermal conductivity(69.1%).The present work overcame the disadvantages of conventional thermally conductive composites,and provided an efficient approach to prolong the life span of thermally conductive GFREP laminate for high-temperature resistant integrated circuit application.

ZIF-8 modified by isocyanate as a photocatalytic antibacterial agent

Zeolite imidazole skeleton(ZIF-8)is a promising option for self-cleaning of building exterior walls due to its large specific surface area,high antibacterial activity and low ***,it suffers from low antibacterial efficiency and yield under visible light *** address the issues,we developed the photocatalytic materials T-ZIF-8-TDI(thermally treated-ZIF-8-toluene 2,4-diisocyanate)by modifying ZIF-8 with thermal oxygen sensitization and chemical *** results show that the yield of T-ZIF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent is increased to 11.5 times of that of T-ZIF-8,while maintaining the crystal structure of T-ZIF-8 and thermal stability up to 60℃.Furthermore,T-ZIF-8-TDI exhibits extended optical response range to the nearinfrared region,significantly narrowed band gap,improved photogenerated elec tron-hole separation efficiency,reduced recombination rate,and excellent photocatalytic *** the concentration of antibacterial agent is 600 mg·L^(-1),the antibacterial rate of Escherichia coli(***)reaches 99.99%irradiated by visible light for30 min,and when the concentration of antibacterial agent is 200 mg·L^(-1),the antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus(***)reaches 99.99%irradiated by visible light for 25 *** also analyzed the reasons in detail from the aspects of bacterial species and antibacterial mechanism,and proposed the antibacterial mechanism of·O_(2)^(-)and h^(+)as the main active *** findings suggest that T-ZIF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent has potential for use in self-cleaning of building exterior walls.

An integrated energy system(IES)contributes to improving energy efficiency and promoting sustainable energy *** different dynamic characteristics of the system,such as demand/response schemes and complex coupling characteristics among energy sources,siting and sizing of multitype energy storage(MES)are very important for the economic operation of the *** the effect of the diversity of the IES on system reserve based on electricity,gas and heat systems in different scenarios,a two-stage MES optimal configuration model,considering the system reserve value,is *** the first stage,to determine the location and charging/discharging strategies,a location choice model that minimizes the operating cost,considering the system reserve value,is *** the second stage,a capacity choice model,to minimize the investment and maintenance cost of the MES,is ***,an example is provided to verify the effectiveness of the MES configuration method in this paper in handling operational diversity and ensuring system *** with the configuration method that disregards the system reserve value,the results show that the MES configuration method proposed in this paper can reduce the annual investment cost and operating cost and improve the system reserve value.
