Development of Spectral Features for Monitoring Rice Bacterial Leaf Blight Disease Using Broad-Band Remote Sensing Systems

As an important rice disease, rice bacterial leaf blight (RBLB, caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas oryzae ***), has become widespread in east China in recent years. Significant losses in rice yield occurred as a result ofthe disease’s epidemic, making it imperative to monitor RBLB at a large scale. With the development of remotesensing technology, the broad-band sensors equipped with red-edge channels over multiple spatial resolutionsoffer numerous available data for large-scale monitoring of rice diseases. However, RBLB is characterized by rapiddispersal under suitable conditions, making it difficult to track the disease at a regional scale with a single sensorin practice. Therefore, it is necessary to identify or construct features that are effective across different sensors formonitoring RBLB. To achieve this goal, the spectral response of RBLB was first analyzed based on the canopyhyperspectral data. Using the relative spectral response (RSR) functions of four representative satellite or UAVsensors (i.e., Sentinel-2, GF-6, Planet, and Rededge-M) and the hyperspectral data, the corresponding broad-bandspectral data was simulated. According to a thorough band combination and sensitivity analysis, two novel spectralindices for monitoring RBLB that can be effective across multiple sensors (i.e., RBBRI and RBBDI) weredeveloped. An optimal feature set that includes the two novel indices and a classical vegetation index was *** capability of such a feature set in monitoring RBLB was assessed via FLDA and SVM algorithms. The resultdemonstrated that both constructed novel indices exhibited high sensitivity to the disease across multiple ***, the feature set yielded an overall accuracy above 90% for all sensors, which indicates its cross-sensorgenerality in monitoring RBLB. The outcome of this research permits disease monitoring with different remotesensing data over a large scale.

Drinking water quality & health risk assessment of secondary water supply systems in residential neighborhoods

Secondary water supply systems(SWSSs)are important components of the water supply infrastructure that ensure residents’drinking water *** are characterized by long detention time,warm temperature,and unreasonable management,which may trigger the deterioration of water quality and increase *** this study,drinking water quality index(DWQI)and health risk assessment(HRA)were selected and modified to quantitatively assess the water quality and health risks of SWSSs in residential *** total,121 seasonal water samples were *** was observed that the water quality was excellent with the DWQI of 0.14±0.04,excluding one sample,which was extremely poor owing to its excessive total bacterial *** HRA results revealed that the health risks were low:negligible non-carcinogenic risk for any population;negligible and acceptable carcinogenic risk for children aged 6–17 and ***,samples revealed higher carcinogenic risk(7.63×10−5±3.29×10−6)for children aged 0–5,and arsenic was the major *** samples had poor water quality and higher health risks,which called for *** further investigate the water quality and health risks of SWSSs,monthly sampling was conducted during *** 24 water samples were qualified in Chinese standard(GB 5749-2022)and characterized as excellent *** HRA results were consistent with the seasonal samples’and the health risks were mainly concentrated in ***,our study provides a suitable framework for water quality security,advice for managers,and references for administrators in other cities.

Unstable evolution of railway slope under the rainfall-vibration joint action

Understanding the unstable evolution of railway slopes is the premise for preventing slope failure and ensuring the safe operation of ***,as two major factors affecting the stability of railway slopes,few scholars have explored the unstable evolution of railway slopes under the joint action of *** on the model test of sandy soil slope,the unstable evolution process of slope under locomotive vibration,rainfall,and rainfall-vibration joint action conditions was simulated in this *** comparing and analyzing the variation trends of soil pressure and water content of slope under these conditions,the change laws of pore pressure under the influence of vibration and rainfall were *** main control factors affecting the stability of slope structure under the joint action conditions were further *** with the slope failure phenomena under these three conditions,the causes of slope instability resulting from each leading factor were ***,according to the above conclusions,the unstable evolution of the slope under the rainfall-vibration joint action was *** test results show that the unstable evolution process of sandy soil slope,under the rainfall-vibration joint action,can be divided into:rainfall erosion cracking,vibration promotion penetrating,and slope instability sliding three *** the process of slope unstable evolution,rainfall and vibration play the roles of inducing and promoting slide *** addition,the deep cracks,which are the premise for the formation of the sliding surface,and the violent irregular fluctuation of soil pressure,which reflects the near penetration of the sliding surface,constitute the instability characteristics of the railway slope *** paper reveals the unstable evolution of sandy soil slopes under the joint action of rainfall-vibration,hoping to provide the theoretical basis for the early warning and prevention technology of railway slopes.

Multi-scenario Simulation and Spatial-temporal Analysis of LUCC in China's Coastal Zone Based on Coupled SD-FLUS Model

Increased human activities in China's coastal zone have resulted in the depletion of ecological land ***,conducting current and future multi-scenario simulation research on land use and land cover change(LUCC)is crucial for guiding the healthy and sustainable development of coastal *** dynamic(SD)-future land use simulation(FLUS)model,a coupled simulation model,was developed to analyze land use dynamics in China's coastal *** model encompasses five scenarios,namely,SSP1-RCP2.6(A),SSP2-RCP4.5(B),SSP3-RCP4.5(C),SSP4-RCP4.5(D),and SSP5-RCP8.5(E).The SD model simulates land use demand on an annual basis up to the year ***,the FLUS model determines the spatial distribution of land use for the near term(2035),medium term(2050),and long term(2100).Results reveal a slowing trend in land use changes in China's coastal zone from 2000–*** these changes,the expansion rate of construction land was the highest and exhibited an annual *** 2100,land use predictions exhibit high accuracy,and notable differences are observed in trends across *** summary,the expansion of production,living,and ecological spaces toward the sea remains *** A emphasizes reduced land resource dependence,benefiting ecological land *** B witnesses an intensified expansion of artificial *** C sees substantial land needs for living and production,while Scenario D shows coastal forest and grassland ***,in Scenario E,the conflict between humans and land *** study presents pertinent recommendations for the future development,utilization,and management of coastal areas in *** research contributes valuable scientific support for informed,long-term strategic decision making within coastal regions.

Tailoring NH_(4)^(+)storage by regulating oxygen defect in ammonium vanadate

Defect engineering is an effective strategy for modifying the energy storage materials to improve their electrochemical ***,the impact of oxygen defect and its content on the electrochemical performances in the burgeoning aqueous NH_(4)^(+)storage field remains ***,for the first time in this work,an oxygen-defective ammonium vanadate[(NH_(4))_(2)V_(10)O_(25)·8H_(2)O,denoted as Od-NHVO]with a novel 3D porous flower-like architecture was achieved via the reduction of thiourea in a mild reaction condition,which is a facile method that can realize the intention to regulate the oxygen defect content,with the capability of *** as-prepared Od_M-NHVO with moderate oxygen defect content can deliver a stable specific capacitance output(505 F g^(-1),252 mAh g^(-1)at 0.5 A g^(-1)with~80% capacitance retention after 10,000 cycles),which benefits from extra active sites,unimpeded NH_(4)^(+)-migration path and relatively high structure *** contrast,low oxygen defect content will lead to the torpid electrochemical reaction kinetics while too high content of it will reduce the chargestorage capability and induce structural *** superior NH_(4)^(+)-storage behavior is achieved with the reversible intercalation/deintercalation process of NH_(4)^(+)accompanied by forming/breaking of hydrogen *** expected,the assembled flexible OdM-NHVO//PTCDI quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitor(FQSS HSC)also exhibits high areal capacitance,energy density and reliable *** work provides a new avenue for developing materials with oxygen-deficient structure for application in various aqueous non-metal cation storage systems.

Mass transfer enhancement and hydrodynamic performance with wire mesh coupling solid particles in bubble column reactor

It is of vital significance to investigate mass transfer enhancements for chemical engineering *** work focuses on investigating the coupling influence of embedding wire mesh and adding solid particles on bubble motion and gas-liquid mass transfer process in a bubble *** image velocimetry(PIV)technology was employed to analyze the flow field and bubble motion behavior,and dynamic oxygen absorption technology was used to measure the gas-liquid volumetric mass transfer coefficient(kLa).The effect of embedding wire mesh,adding solid particles,and wire mesh coupling solid particles on the flow characteristic and kLa were analyzed and *** results show that the gas-liquid interface area increases by 33%-72%when using the wire mesh coupling solid particles strategy compared to the gas-liquid two-phase flow,which is superior to the other two strengthening *** with the system without reinforcement,kLa in the bubble column increased by 0.5-1.8 times with wire mesh coupling solid particles method,which is higher than the sum of kLa increases with inserting wire mesh and adding particles,and the coupling reinforcement mechanism for affecting gas-liquid mass transfer process was discussed to provide a new idea for enhancing gas-liquid mass transfer.

Crystalline carbon nitride with in-plane built-in electric field accelerates carrier separation for excellent photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Achieving a high carrier migration efficiency by constructing built-in electric field is one of the promising approaches for promoting photocatalytic activity. Herein, we have designed a donor-acceptor(D-A) crystalline carbon nitride(APMCN) with 4-amino-2,6-dihydroxypyrimidine(AP) as electron donor, in which the pyrimidine ring was well embedded in the heptazine ring via hydrogen-bonding effect during hydrothermal process. The APMCN shows superior charge-transfer due to giant built-in electric field(5.94times higher than pristine carbon nitride), thereby exhibiting excellent photocatalytic H_(2) evolution rate(1350 μmol/h) with a high AQY(62.8%) at 400 nm. Mechanistic analysis based on detailed experimental investigation together with theoretical analysis reveals that the excellent photocatalytic activity is attributed to the promoted charge separation by the giant internal electric field originated from the D–A structure.

Organo-chromium(III)complex is one of the chromium contaminant species,which would transform to high-toxic Cr(VI)during migrating in the *** natural organo-chromium(III)(NOCr)is difficult to remove by traditional degradation or precipitation methods,due to its high stability and ***,we demonstrated a novel NOCr removing method by transforming it to certain structures similar to Cr-Fe minerals in nature,through a self-circulating decomplex and immobilization mechanism with nano zero-valent iron(nZVI).Taking chromium glycinate(Cr-Gly)as a probe,nZVI showed a high Cr removal efficiency of 99.4%under ambient *** removal process included three stages of adsorption,decomplexation,and ***-Gly was first adsorbed on the surface of nZVI by chemisorption of the oxide ***,the adsorbed Cr-Gly was decomplexed and oxidized to Cr(VI)by·OH and 1O_(2),which were generated from molecular oxygen activated by ***,the released Cr(VI)could be in-situ adsorbed and re-reduced to Cr(III),which was further immobilized in form of Cr-O-Fe *** the Cr-O-Fe complexing structure was similar to that of Cr-Fe minerals(such as chromohercynite)in nature,this work explored a novel and efficient NOCr removing method that was potential to weaken chromium pollution in the environment.

The tip-clearance flow in a pump-jet propulsor exerts great impacts on the fluctuating pressures and resultant unsteady forces,which are important sources of structural vibrations and radiated noise *** blade geometry close to the tip is an important factor determining the vortex strength in the tip-clearance *** the open-water condition,the effects of raking the rotor tips on the duct-surface fluctuating pressures and the resultant unsteady forces acting on different components of the propulsor are investigated via physical model experiments and the numerical solution of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations coupled with the SST k-ωturbulence *** measured and simulated results of hydrodynamic pressures are consistent to each other,and the simulated flows help better understand why the fluctuating pressures change with the tip *** strong fluctuations of duct-surface pressures are caused by intensive tip separation *** duct-surface pressure fluctuations are effectively reduced by using the rake distribution near the tip towards blade back side and,for the combination of the five-bladed rotor and the seven-bladed stator,the resultant unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on the duct and stator are also reduced;while increasing rake leads to negative effect on pressure fluctuations and unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on all the components of the propulsor.
