Narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxies: where are the broad line regions?

A sample consisting of 211 narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s) with high quality spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is selected to explore where broad line regions are in these objects. We find that the Hβ profile can be fitted well by three (narrow, intermediate and broad) Gaussian components, and the FWHM ratios of the broad to the intermediate components hold a constant of 3.0 roughly for the entire sample. If the broad components originate from the region scaled by the well-determined Hβ reverberation mapping relation, we find that the intermediate components originate from the inner edge of the torus, which is scaled by dust K-band reverberation. We find that the IC and the BC are strongly linked dynamically, but the relation of their covering factors is much more relaxed, implying that both regions are clumpy.

The hard X-ray modulation telescope HXMT is a low orbit X-ray space telescope whose main science goals are to accomplish a hard X-ray all sky survey and to study timing and spectral characteristics of X-ray *** has three kinds of science instruments:the high energy X-ray detector(HE),the medium energy X-ray detector(ME) and the low energy X-ray detector(LE).The observation schedule of HXMT is a key to achieving the science goal of HXMT,and the analysis of the observation constraints is one of the first tasks in making the observation *** paper analyzes how the observation constraints influence the sky visibility and the visible time distribution of X-ray sources and discusses the schedule strategy with regard to the observation constraints.

In this paper,we have investigated the formation of the third-phase in tertiary amine(N23.)-PtCl62--HCl system and the microscopic phase structural evolution of platinum-loaded organic phases before and after the occurrence of the *** third-phase is characterized by various spectroscopic techniques,and the small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS) experiments demonstrate the appearance of nano-aggregates,i.e.,water-in-oil reversed micelles,in the third *** experimental results indicate that(1) formation of the third phase is related to the aggregation behaviors of nano-reversed micelles in which a super-concentrated hydrochloric acid formed with the H+ to H2O molar ratio being much higher than that of the conventional 3. wt% saturated hydrochloric acid.(2) The occurrence of the super-concentrated HCl results in a great amount of H+ and Cl-ions enriched and confined within the nano-water pools of W/O reversed micelles in third ***,the coordination behaviors of platinum complex ions in that super-concentrated hydrochloric acid are very different from their corresponding behaviors in bulk aqueous *** is possible that H+ ions participate in the formation of such complexes as HmPtCl6z+ in the super-concentrated hydrochloric acid.(3. The relative contents of various HmPtCl6z+ complexes are different corresponding to the H+ ion concentrations in confined nanowater *** association ability of the acidified tertiary amine N23. molecules(R3.H+) with various HmPtCl6z+ complexes plays an important role in affecting the platinum extraction behaviors.

POLAR is a compact polarimeter dedicated to measuring the polarization of GRBs between 50-3.0 *** light collection of 200 mm×6 mm×6 mm plastic bars has been simulated and optimized in order to get uniform response to X-rays at different points along one single *** to the Monte Carlo results,the amplitude uniformity strongly depends on the level of polishing of the scintillator surface and the covering.A uniformity of 89% is achieved with a prototype constructed by a non position-sensitive PMT and an array of 4×4 bars.

It is well-known that the numerical value is always larger than the measured value,amounting to many times,if we calculate the stress of the specimen in the impulse test using the NASTRAN and ANSYS (N-A) *** believe that the impact induces shock wave or quasi-traveling wave in the specimen,which can qualitatively explain the discrepancy of the two *** order to verify it,the Lax-Friedrichs (L-F) scheme is taken to simulate the transmission of shock wave and quasi-traveling wave in *** results show that the action area of the stress wave is small and the action time is very short,so the resulting stress and actual work are not *** addition,the distribution of the impact values obtained by the numerical simulation is in accordance with the trend of the measured impact values.

We have investigated the relation between the root mean square(rms) variability and the X-ray flux(rms-flux relation) of the Z source Cyg X-2,and as well the energy dependence based on the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer(RXTE) *** currently focus on the horizontal branch(HB),due to the negative correlation in flux of the soft and the hard *** rms-flux correlation has energy dependence as follows:positive at hard X-rays(above 10 keV) but negative at soft X-rays(below 10 keV).This provides a feature different from the previous one,and may be suggestive of different origins of X-rays below and above 10 ***,the overall spectrum can be well fitted with a model consisting of a blackbody and Comptonization components,but the fitting results do not reveal any features around 10 keV that could account for such a change in the rms-flux relation.

high-spin states in 161Er have been studied experimentally via the 150Nd(16O, 5n) reaction at a beam energy of 86 MeV. Three rotational bands built on the 5/2+[642], 3.2-[521], and 11/2-[505] configurations have been extended up to high-spin states, and particularly, the α = -1/2 branch of the ground state 3.2-[521] band has been revised significantly. It is found that signature inversion occurs in the 3.2-[521] band after the band crossing in 161Er. The systematics of the signature inversion associated with the 3.2-[521] configuration in the rare-earth region is discussed. The band properties are analyzed within the framework of a triaxial particle-rotor model, and a triaxial deformation is proposed to the 3.2-[521] band.

We re-examine the ten Reverberation Mapping(RM) sources with public data based on the two-component model of the Broad Line Region(BLR).In fitting their broad Hβ Mlines,six of them only need one Gaussian component,one of them has a double-peak profile,one has an irregular profile,and only two of them need two components,i.e.,a Very Broad Gaussian Component(VBGC) and an Inter-Mediate Gaussian Component(IMGC).The Gaussian components are assumed to come from two distinct regions in the two-component model;they are the Very Broad Line Region(VBLR) and the Inter-Mediate Line region(IMLR).The two sources with a two-component profile are Mrk 509 and NGC *** time lags of the two components of both sources satisfy tIMLR/tVBLR=V 2VBLR/V 2IMLR,where tIMLR and tVBLR are the lags of the two components while VIMLR and VVBLR represent the mean gas velocities of the two regions,supporting the two-component model of the BLR of Active Galactic Nuclei(AGNs).The fact that most of these ten sources only have the VBGC confirms the assumption that RM mainly measures the radius of the VBLR;consequently,the radius obtained from the R-L relationship mainly represents the radius of ***,NGC 4051,with a lag of about 5 days in the one component model,is an outlier on the R-L relationship as shown in Kaspi et al.(2005);however this problem disappears in our two-component model with lags of about 2 and 6 days for the VBGC and IMGC,respectively.
