The association of chronic subdural hematoma （CSDH） and arachnoid cyst （AC） is uncommon. We reported 2 juvenile athletes with CSDH associated with AC which occurred in their daily sports activities and reviewed the literature. Both of them were treated surgically, with satisfactory outcome. AC is a common predisposing factor in young patients with CSDH. The complication of intracranial bleeding is an indication for surgicalmanagement. Though there are still controversies in the treatment of asymptomatic AC, it is the consensus that the patients with AC should avoid violent sports so as to reduce the incidence ofintracranial hemorrhage resulted from head injuries.

To address the problems about the difficulty in accurate recognition of distribution features of gas flow center at blast furnace throat and determine the relationship between gas flow center distribution and gas utilization rate,a method for recognizing distribution features of blast furnace gas flow center was proposed based on infrared image processing,and distribution features of blast furnace gas flow center and corresponding gas utilization rates were categorized by using fuzzy C-means clustering and statistical methods.A concept of gas flow center offset was *** results showed that,when the percentage of gas flow center without offset exceeded 85%,the average blast furnace gas utilization rate was as high as 41%;when the percentage of gas flow center without offset exceeded50%,the gas utilization rate was primarily the center gas utilization rate,and exhibited a positive correlation with no center offset degree;when the percentage of gas flow center without offset was below 50% but the sum of the percentage of gas flow center without offset and that of gas flow center with small offset exceeded 86%,the gas utilization rate depended on both the center and the edges,and was primarily the edge gas utilization *** method proposed was able to accurately and effectively recognize gas flow center distribution state and the relationship between it and gas utilization rate,providing evidence in favor of on-line blast furnace control.

Proton therapy is the most advanced radiotherapy approach in the world,and causes less damage to normal human tissue than traditional *** the treatment process produces a high-energy proton beam,the personnel safety interlock system mainly considers measures to protect personnel from radiation hazards during beam preparation and the beam release *** other safety interlock systems,the personnel safety interlock system designed in this study focuses on the safety and stability of the system *** hardware and software of important interlock control loops are designed and developed according to the requirements of Safety Integrity Level 3 specified by IEC61508.A set of redundant ring networks was developed to ensure that damage to a certain network line does not affect the normal operation of the system.A set of friendly operation interfaces and data storage systems were developed to ensure that the operator can monitor the data in real time and trace the *** personnel safety interlock system mainly includes a beam enabling function,clearance function,and emergency stop *** system was put into actual use and successfully ensured personnel safety.

Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of Bletilla striata microspheres(BSMs) and its effects as an embolic agent in a rabbit model. Methods: BSMs were prepared with an emulsi?cation-cool condensation-chemical cross-linking method. The characteristics of BSMs in vitro were observed. Embolization experiments were performed in renal artery of rabbit and in a rabbit liver VX2 carcinoma model. Seventy-two New Zealand rabbits were divided into 2 groups, and the right renal artery was embolized with BSMs(200 μm in diameter) in the experimental group and with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) of the same size in the control group. The pathological findings were examined with hematoxylin-eosin and Masson stainings. Liver and renal functions were tested before and after ***2 tumor was transplanted in 15 New Zealand rabbits, which were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=5). Group A were treated with saline, group B with a mixture of doxorubicin and lipiodol, and group C with hepatic arterial infusion of BSMs(200 μm in diameter). Tumor growth rate was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging ***-related factors(bax, bcl-2) and tumor vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF) were evaluated through immunohistochemical staining. Results: The characteristics of BSMs in vitro were in full compliance with the requirements for use in interventional procedures. In the renal artery embolization experiment, after BSMs intervention, it was more dif?cult to form collateral circulation than that with PVAs, and the kidney manifested atrophy and calci?cation. There were no signi?cant difference of liver and renal functions in rabbits between groups. In the liver VX2 carcinoma embolization experiment, compared with group A, the growth rate of VX2 liver tumor and Bcl-2 levels was reduced, while apoptosis index, Bax, and VEGF were increased in group B(P0.05). Landslide dams,especially long-term stable landslide dams,have been recognized as important contributors to regional geomorphological ***,the Diexi area,a long-term stable dam-prone area located in upstream of the Minjiang River on the eastern Tibetan Plateau,was adopted to reveal reasons that landslide dams are concentrated in this area and maintain long-term stability via detailed field investigations,landslide dam sampling,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)images,and digital surface models(DSM).The results show the controlling factors that the slopes are prone to sliding and rock mass structure deterioration including lithological combination mode,slope structure,topographic conditions,a series of NNE-trending radial fissures and hydrological *** activities,which have caused many earthquakes,are the main inducing *** dams are prone to occurrence in the Diexi area owing to the combined effect of the narrow channels,the large landslide dam volume and the rock *** river flow,and the landslide dam volume,material,structure,and parameters control the stability of landslide *** landslide dam consists of various sizes of boulders and all landslide dams exhibit an obvious inverse grading sequence,and this size combination could consume most of the flow energy,and consequently protect the dam from ***,a total of seven knickpoints were formed by landslide dams,and the longitudinal gradient upstream of every landslide dam was found to decrease by the action of *** the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau,there are numerous landslide dams existed for hundreds or thousands of *** on the long-term stable landslide dams in the Diexi area could provide experience for studying similar kinds of landslide dams in this region.

In recent years,white persistent luminescence materials have received extensive attention due to the potential application of white light in the field of plant growth *** white persistent luminescence materials synthesized by traditional methods either have strict requirements on the concentration of doped ions or cannot produce white light continuously and stably due to different decay rates of various emission centers,which limits their further *** our work,we successfully synthesized a novel Li^(+)-doped MgLuGaO_(4)phosphor with stable white-light emission and long persistent *** broadband emission of MgLuGaO_(4):Li^(+)is mainly located at 350-650 nm,which has no change at different decay time,showing stable white-light *** persistent luminescence intensity is increased by 3.8 times and the persistent luminescence time is extended from 24 h to more than 36 h by doping Li+*** white-light and long persistent luminescence emission make it promising to be used in plant growth lighting.

Burrow structural charactersitcs and microhabitat use of the Turpan wonder gecko Teratoscincus roborowskii （Gekkonidae） were studied between April and September of 2013 in the Turpan Eremophytes Botanic Garden, in the Turpan Depression of Western China. Burrow depth, entrance orientation, entrance height and width were observed. We assessed microhabitat selection and noted differences in microhabitat use among males, females, and juveniles. The magnitude of selection was measured using Jacobs＇ index of selectivity. Entrance height and width of the burrows of adults were significantly larger than those of juveniles, but the difference in burrow depth was not significant. The directional orientation of the burrow entrance showed a preference for the north-northeast and south-southeast, which were likely influenced by local prevailing winds and sunlight. Both the adult and juvenile geckos prefer to construct their burrows in sandy soil within a layer of loose soil whose thickness is greater than 30 cm. A majority of the burrows were located within 20 m of the nearest plant. Nearly half （48%） of the entrances of juveniles were located within 5 m of the nearest vegetation, significantly different from those of the adults. Results showed that the Turpan wonder gecko did not utilize microhabitats according to their availability, but rather that it preferred rnicrohabitats which contained dead wood or the caper bush. Our results suggested that burrow characteristics and microhabitat selection were important factors in T. roborowskii adaptation to harsh and arid desert habitats.

Posttraumatic hydrocephalus associated with decompressive cranial defect in severe brain-injured patients

Objective： To investigate the occurrence of posttraumatic hydrocephalus （PTH） in severe braininjured patients who underwent decompressive craniectomy （DC） and to discuss the management. Methods： A total of 389 patients suffering from severe head trauma between January 2004 and May 2010 were enrolled in this study. Clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Of them, 149 patients who underwent DC were divided into two groups according to the presence of PTH： hydrocephalus group and nonhydrocephalus group. Clinical factors including preoperative Glasgow Coma Score （GCS）, bilateral or unilateral decompression, and duraplasty in DC were assessed by single factor analysis to determine its relationship with the occurrence of PTH. Results： Of the 149 patients undergoing DC, 25 （16.8%） developed PTH; while 23 developed PTH （9.6%） among the rest 240 patients without DC. Preoperative GCS, bilateral or unilateral decompression, duraplasty in DC were significantly associated with the development of PTH. Ventriculoperitoneal shunt was performed on 23 of 25 patients with PTH after DC. Frontal horn was preferred for the placement of the catheter. Sixteen of them were operated upon via frontal approach and 7 via occipital approach. After shunt surgery, both radiological and clinical improvemerits were confirmed in 19 patients. Radiological improvement was found in 2 patients. One patient died eventually of severe pneumonia. Shunt-related infection occurred in 1 patient, which led to the removal of the catheter. Conclusions： It is demonstrated that the occurrence of PTH is high in patients with large decompressive skull defect. Patients with low GCS and bilateral decompression tend to develop PTH after DC. Duraplasty in DC might facilitate reducing the occurrence of PTH. Patients with PTH concomitant skull defect should be managed deliberately to restore the anatomical and physiological integrity so as to facilitate the neurological resuscitation.
