Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Cidan Capsule combined with adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) in patients with a high risk of early recurrence after curative resection of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:A multicenter,randomized controlled trial was conducted in patients with high-risk recurrence factors after curative resection of HCC from 9 medical centers between July 2014 and July 2018.Totally249 patients were randomly assigned to TACE with or without Cidan Capsule administration groups by stratified block in a 1:1 ratio.Postoperative adjuvant TACE was given 4-5 weeks after hepatic resection in both groups.Additionally,125 patients in the TACE plus Cidan group were administrated Cidan Capsule(0.27 g/capsule,5 capsules every time,4 times a day) for 6 months with a 24-month follow-up.Primary endpoints included diseasefree survival(DFS) and tumor recurrence rate(TRR).Secondary endpoint was overall survival(OS).Any drugrelated adverse events(AEs) were observed and recorded.Results:As the data cutoff on July 9th,2018,the median DFS was not reached in the TACE plus Cidan group and 234.0 days in the TACE group(hazard ratio,0.420,95%confidence interval,0.290-0.608;P<0.01).The 1-and 2-year TRR in the TACE plus Cidan and TACE groups were 31.5%,37.1%,and 60.8%,63.4%,respectively(P<0.01).Median OS was not reached in both groups.The1-and 2-year OS rates in TACE plus Cidan and TACE groups were 98.4%,98.4%,and 89.5%,87.9%,respectively(P<0.05).The most common grade 3-4 AEs included fatigue,abdominal pain,lumbar pain,and nausea.One serious AE was reported in 1 patient in the TACE plus Cidan group,the death was due to retroperitoneal mass hemorrhage and hemorrhagic shock,and was not related to study drug.Conclusions:Cidan Capsule in combination with TACE can reduce the incidence of early recurrence in HCC patients at high-risk of recurrence after radical hepatectomy and may be an appropriate option in postoperative anti-recurrence treatment.(Registration No.NCT02253511)

Equivariant Chern Classes of Orientable Toric Origami Manifolds

A toric origami manifold,introduced by Cannas da Silva,Guillemin and Pires,is a generalization of a toric symplectic manifold.For a toric symplectic manifold,its equivariant Chern classes can be described in terms of the corresponding Delzant polytope and the stabilization of its tangent bundle splits as a direct sum of complex line bundles.But in general a toric origami manifold is not simply connected,so the algebraic topology of a toric origami manifold is more difficult than a toric symplectic manifold.In this paper they give an explicit formula of the equivariant Chern classes of an oriented toric origami manifold in terms of the corresponding origami template.Furthermore,they prove the stabilization of the tangent bundle of an oriented toric origami manifold also splits as a direct sum of complex line bundles.

On the Preparation of Low-Temperature-Rise and Low-Shrinkage Concrete Based on Phosphorus Slag

The effects of different contents of a MgO expansive agent and phosphorus slag on the mechanical properties,shrinkage behavior,and the heat of hydration of concrete were studied.The slump flow,setting time,dry shrinkage,and hydration heat were used as sensitive parameters to assess the response of the considered specimens.As shown by the results,in general,with an increase in the phosphorus slag content,the hydration heat of concrete decreases for all ages,but the early strength displays a downward trend and the dry shrinkage rate increases.The 90-d strength and dry shrinkage of concrete could be improved with a phosphorus residue content between 0%-20%,with the best performances in terms of mechanical properties and shrinkage characteristics being achieved for a content of 20 kg/m^(3).On the basis of these results,it can be concluded that appropriate amounts of phosphorus slag and MgO expansive agent can be used to improve the compressive strength of concrete in the later stage by reducing the hydration heat and dry shrinkage rate,respectively.

Interface Design Strategy for GNS/AZ91 Composites with Semi-Coherent Structure

The interfacial structure plays an important role in the mechanical properties of magnesium matrix composite(MMCs)reinforced with graphene nanosheet(GNS)due to their poor wettability with the Mg matrix.An interface design strategy was proposed to form the semi-coherent interfacial structure with superior bonding strength.The lattice mismatch and interfacial bonding strength between Mg/rare earth oxide/carbon were utilized as key characteristics to evaluate the interfacial structure.Lanthanum oxide(La2O3)was selected as the intermediate candidate due to its low lattice mismatch and high interfacial bonding strength.To identify the interfacial structure of Mg/La2O3/graphene,first-principles calculations were conducted to calculate the ideal work of separation and electronic structure of the interfaces.Results demonstrated the presence of strong ionic and covalent interactions at the interface,which theoretically verified the strong interfacial bonding strength among Mg/La2O3/graphene interfaces.To experimentally validate the interface strength,MMCs with the interface structure of Mg/La2O3/GNS were developed.The formation of in-situ La2O3 led to the successful attainment of semi-coherent structures between Mg/La2O3 and La2O3/GNS,resulting in high strength and good ductility of the composite.Overall,this work proposes a new approach to interface design in MMCs with an enhancement of mechanical properties.

Identification of reservoir types in deep carbonates based on mixedkernel machine learning using geophysical logging data

Identification of reservoir types in deep carbonates has always been a great challenge due to complex logging responses caused by the heterogeneous scale and distribution of storage spaces. Traditional cross-plot analysis and empirical formula methods for identifying reservoir types using geophysical logging data have high uncertainty and low efficiency, which cannot accurately reflect the nonlinear relationship between reservoir types and logging data. Recently, the kernel Fisher discriminant analysis(KFD), a kernel-based machine learning technique, attracts attention in many fields because of its strong nonlinear processing ability. However, the overall performance of KFD model may be limited as a single kernel function cannot simultaneously extrapolate and interpolate well, especially for highly complex data cases. To address this issue, in this study, a mixed kernel Fisher discriminant analysis(MKFD) model was established and applied to identify reservoir types of the deep Sinian carbonates in central Sichuan Basin, China. The MKFD model was trained and tested with 453 datasets from 7 coring wells, utilizing GR,CAL, DEN, AC, CNL and RT logs as input variables. The particle swarm optimization(PSO) was adopted for hyper-parameter optimization of MKFD model. To evaluate the model performance, prediction results of MKFD were compared with those of basic-kernel based KFD, RF and SVM models. Subsequently, the built MKFD model was applied in a blind well test, and a variable importance analysis was conducted. The comparison and blind test results demonstrated that MKFD outperformed traditional KFD, RF and SVM in the identification of reservoir types, which provided higher accuracy and stronger generalization. The MKFD can therefore be a reliable method for identifying reservoir types of deep carbonates.

Environmental DNA(eDNA)monitoring,a rapidly advancing technique for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem health,offers a noninvasive approach for detecting and quantifying species from various environmental samples.In this review,a comprehensive overview of current eDNA collection and detection technologies is provided,emphasizing the necessity for standardization and automation in aquatic ecological monitoring.Furthermore,the intricacies of water bodies,from streams to the deep sea,and the associated challenges they pose for eDNA capture and analysis are explored.The paper delineates three primary eDNA survey methods,namely,bringing back water,bringing back filters,and bringing back data,each with specific advantages and constraints in terms of labor,transport,and data acquisition.Additionally,innovations in eDNA sampling equipment,including autonomous drones,subsurface samplers,and in-situ filtration devices,and their applications in monitoring diverse taxa are discussed.Moreover,recent advancements in species-specific detection and eDNA metabarcoding are addressed,highlighting the integration of novel techniques such as CRISPR-Cas and nanopore sequencing that enable precise and rapid detection of biodiversity.The implications of environmental RNA and epigenetic modifications are considered for future applications in providing nuanced ecological data.Lastly,the review stresses the critical role of standardization and automation in enhancing data consistency and comparability for robust long-term biomonitoring.We propose that the amalgamation of these technologies represents a paradigm shift in ecological monitoring,aligning with the urgent call for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.

Multi-Objective Multi-Variable Large-Size Fan Aerodynamic Optimization by Using Multi-Model Ensemble Optimization Algorithm

The constrained multi-objective multi-variable optimization of fans usually needs a great deal of computational fluid dynamics(CFD)calculations and is time-consuming.In this study,a new multi-model ensemble optimization algorithm is proposed to tackle such an expensive optimization problem.The multi-variable and multi-objective optimization are conducted with a new flexible multi-objective infill criterion.In addition,the search direction is determined by the multi-model ensemble assisted evolutionary algorithm and the feature extraction by the principal component analysis is used to reduce the dimension of optimization variables.First,the proposed algorithm and other two optimization algorithms which prevail in fan optimizations were compared by using test functions.With the same number of objective function evaluations,the proposed algorithm shows a fast convergency rate on finding the optimal objective function values.Then,this algorithm was used to optimize the rotor and stator blades of a large axial fan,with the efficiencies as the objectives at three flow rates,the high,the design and the low flow rate.Forty-two variables were included in the optimization process.The results show that compared with the prototype fan,the total pressure efficiencies of the optimized fan at the high,the design and the low flow rate were increased by 3.35%,3.07%and 2.89%,respectively,after CFD simulations for 500 fan candidates with the constraint for the design pressure.The optimization results validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

Preparation of calcium carbonate with microstructure and nanostructure from carbide slag for CO_(2) sequestration by using recyclable ammonium chloride

Based on the composition characteristics of carbide slag and the application of polyvinyl chloride,a method of preparing calcium carbonate with microstructure and nanostructure by using carbide slag as a raw material and ammonium chloride as a leaching agent was proposed.The factors for the preparation of calcium carbonate and the effects of different conditions on the crystal phase,grain size,and morphology of calcium carbonate were systematically studied.The results showed that the nanosized calcium carbonate was prepared at 60 mL/min,25°C,no additional ammonia,and 60 min.The product of spherical vaterite was in accordance with the relevant standards for the industrial precipitation of calcium carbonate.Moreover,the reuse of carbonation filtrate was realized.The crystal phase,grain size,and morphology of the carbonation product could be controlled by adjusting the reaction conditions.The manuscript provided a new idea for resource utilization of carbide slag and preparing nanocalcium carbonate.

Adhesion molecules mediate cell-to-cell and cell-to-extracellular matrix interactions and transmit mechanical and chemical signals among them.Various mechanisms deregulate adhesion molecules in cancer,enabling tumor cells to proliferate without restraint,invade through tissue boundaries,escape from immune surveillance,and survive in the tumor microenvironment.Recent studies have revealed that adhesion molecules also drive angiogenesis,reshape metabolism,and are involved in stem cell self-renewal.In this review,we summarize the functions and mechanisms of adhesion molecules in cancer and the tumor microenvironment,as well as the therapeutic strategies targeting adhesion molecules.These studies have implications for furthering our understanding of adhesion molecules in cancer and providing a paradigm for exploring novel therapeutic approaches.

Concomitant treatment of ureteral calculi and ipsilateral pelvic sciatic nerve schwannoma with transperitoneal laparoscopic approach: A case report

BACKGROUND Schwannomas are rare peripheral neural myelin sheath tumors that originate from Schwann cells.Of the different types of schwannomas,pelvic sciatic nerve schwannoma is extremely rare.Definite preoperative diagnosis of pelvic schwannomas is difficult,and surgical resection is the gold standard for its definite diagnosis and treatment.CASE SUMMARY We present a case of pelvic schwannoma arising from the sciatic nerve that was detected in a 40-year-old man who underwent computed tomography for intermittent right lower back pain caused exclusively by a right ureteral calculus.Subsequently,successful transperitoneal laparoscopic surgery was performed for the intact removal of the stone and en bloc resection of the schwannoma.The total operative time was 125 min,and the estimated blood loss was inconspicuous.The surgical procedure was uneventful.The patient was discharged on postoperative day 5 with the simultaneous removal of the urinary catheter.However,the patient presented with motor and sensory disorders of the right lower limb,caused by partial damage to the right sciatic nerve.No tumor recurrence was observed at the postoperative appointment.CONCLUSION Histopathological examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis of a schwannoma.Thus,laparoscopic surgery is safe and feasible for concomitant extirpation of pelvic schwannomas and other pelvic and abdominal diseases that require surgical treatment.
