Microwave-induced high-energy sites and targeted energy transition promising for efficient energy deployment

Diverse interactions between microwaves and irradiated media provide a solid foundation for identifying novel organization pathways for energy *** this study,a high-energy-site phenomenon and targeted-energy transition mechanism were identified in a particular microwave heating(MH)*** discharges were observed when microwaves were imposed on irregularly sized SiC particles,producing tremendous heat that was 8-fold the amount generated in the discharge-free *** efficiency was thereby greatly improved in the electricity-microwaves-effective heat ***,the dispersed microwave field energy concentrated in small sites,where local temperatures could reach 2000℃–4000℃,with the energy density reaching up to 4.010^(5) W/*** can be called a high-energy site phenomenon which could induce further processes or reactions enhancement by coupling effects of heat,light,and *** whole process,including microwave energy concentration and intense site-energy release,shapes a targeted-energy transition mechanism that can be optimized in a controlled manner through morphology *** particular,the discharge intensity,frequency,and high-energy sites were strengthened through the fabrication of sharp nano/microstructures,conferring twice the energy efficiency of untreated metal *** microwave-induced high-energy sites and targeted energy transition provide an important pathway for high-efficiency energy deployment and may lead to promising applications.

SMOKING PREVALENCE IN CHINESE AGED 15 AND ABOVE

A nation-wide survey on smoking was carried out from April to November 1984, covering all 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government (except Taiwan). Stratified random sampling was done in the general population in those aged 15 years and above. A total of 519600 persons were surveyed, including 258 422 males and 261 178 females. It was shown that the average smoking rate of Chinese is 33.88%, with 61.01% males and 7.04 females. The heaviest male smokers are workers and peasants, and the females ones are professionals and workers. The highest educated people have the lowest smoking rate in both sexes. Of 343 563 non-smokers interviewed, 39.75% are passive smokers. The quit smoking rate is only 4.17% in males and 9.73% in females.

First-principles calculation of Aun@(znS)(42)(n=6-16)hetero-nanostructure system

The structure stability and electronic and optical properties of a series of Au@znS core-shell nanocomposites with different sizes were investigated theoretically by first-principle calculation based on density functional theory(DFT).A series of Aun@(znS)(42)structures with different n values from 6 to 16 were optimized and *** on the core-shell interaction energy and second-order difference of total energy of these structures,it is found that Au(13)@(znS)(42)turns out to be the most stable *** on the model of Au(13)@(znS)(42),the density of state and charge density difference were studied and provided a deeper understanding of the electronic structures of Au@*** the other hand,absorption coefficient and dielectric function were investigated to study the optical *** is found that an optical absorption peak appears in visible-light region,indicating that the photo-catalytic can be improved prominently due to the optical redshift to visible-light region when forming core-shell structure from znS *** the redshift phenomenon accords well with ***,the electronic structure further confirms the existence of redshift of optical absorption spectrum.

Laser solid-phase synthesis of graphene shellencapsulated high-entropy alloy nanoparticles

Rapid synthesis of high-entropy alloy nanoparticles(HEA NPs)offers new opportunities to develop functional materials in widespread *** some methods have successfully produced HEA NPs,these methods generally require rigorous conditions such as high pressure,high temperature,restricted atmosphere,and limited substrates,which impede practical *** this work,we report laser solid-phase synthesis of CrMnFeCoNi nanoparticles by laser irradiation of mixed metal precursors on a laser-induced graphene(LIG)support with a 3D porous *** CrMnFeCoNi nanoparticles are embraced by several graphene layers,forming graphene shell-encapsulated HEA *** mechanisms of the laser solid-phase synthesis of HEA NPs on LIG supports are investigated through theoretical simulation and experimental observations,in consideration of mixed metal precursor adsorption,thermal decomposition,reduction through electrons from laser-induced thermionic emission,and liquid beads *** production rate reaches up to 30 g/h under the current laser *** laser-synthesized graphene shell-encapsulated CrMnFeCoNi NPs loaded on LIG-coated carbon paper are used directly as 3D binder-free integrated electrodes and exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity towards oxygen evolution reaction with an overpotential of 293 mV at the current density of 10 mA/cm2 and exceptional stability over 428 h in alkaline media,outperforming the commercial RuO2 catalyst and the relevant catalysts reported by other *** work also demonstrates the versatility of this technique through the successful synthesis of CrMnFeCoNi oxide,sulfide,and phosphide nanoparticles.

A Super-robust Armoured Superhydrophobic Surface with Excellent Anti-icing Ability

It has been proved that the construction of interconnected armour on superhydrophobic surface could significantly enhance the mechanical ***,a new kind of armour with frame/protrusion hybrid structure was achieved by nanosecond laser ***,this armoured superhydrophobic surface demonstrated excellent durability,which could withstand linear abrasion(~3 N press)800 cycles,water jet test(1.0 MPa pressure)40 times and 100℃treatment 18 ***,the armoured superhydrophobic sample shows outstanding anti-icing ability,which can speed up the supercooled water dropping(no adhesion within 2 h),increase the freezing delay time by~3 times and maintain low adhesion force(less than 35 kPa)after 30 icing/de-icing *** finite element analysis and theoretical modeling proved that the developed frame/protuberance hybrid structure could effectively enhance the *** relatively low surface accuracy in this study can significantly reduce processing cost,which provides a bright future for the practical application of armour superhydrophobic materials.

The efficient recovery of gold from industrial sewage is important for saving precious metals and remains a big *** report the extraction of gold ions from a trace-level aqueous solution using a tannic acid(TA)coated single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)*** TA has many redox ligands that efficiently adsorb Au(III)from the solution and reduce them to Au *** interwoven SWCNTs not only act as a framework to improve the mechanical stability of the hybrid membrane,but also provide abundant paths for H_(2)O transport,and facilitate the full exposure of the *** a result,the hybrid membrane has an excellent ability to capture gold ions from solution with a high flux of 157 L/(m^(2)·h·bar),and an ultra-high adsorption capacity of 2095 mg/g from solutions with an extremely low gold concentration of 20 *** adsorbed gold ions are reduced to Au particles,which can be easily collected by *** recovered Au nanoparticles on the TA–SWCNT hybrid film had a remarkable surface-enhanced Raman scattering effect that enabled the sensitive detection of rhodamine 6G.

This paper deals with the simple additive degradation models with single random effect. The authors further study the link between the aging property of the implied lifetime and that of the random variation. It is found that both the aging property of the random variation and the analytical behavior of the mean degradation path influence the aging behavior of the implied lifetime.

Efficient recovery of aromatic compounds from the wastewater of styrene monomer and propylene oxide co-production plant via hypercrosslinked aryl-rich starch-β-cyclodextrin polymeric sorbent

Adsorptive recovery of valuable components from industrial wastewater is highly desirable for avoiding resource wastage but remains a ***,we develop an efficient continuous adsorption process for recovering aromatic compounds in wastewater from styrene monomer and propylene oxide coproduction(SMPO)*** on our insight into the potential of bio-based porous materials for adsorption application,starch-graft-polystyrene(SPS)and aryl-modifiedβ-cyclodextrin(ACD)were prepared,and novel hypercrosslinked porous polymers combined SPS with ACD(HSPS-ACDs)were synthesized through external crosslinking *** a binary-component system,the best-performing one HSPS-ACD(H)with high ACD content and large specific surface area possessed superior capacities for the representative aromatic compounds,acetophenone(AP,2.81 mmol·g^(-1))and 1-phenylethanol(1-PE,1.35 mmol·g^(-1))compared with the previously reported ***,the adsorption properties of aromatic compounds on HSPS-ACD(H)were investigated in batch *** practical application,continuous adsorption experiments were conducted in a HSPS-ACD(H)-packed fixed bed,where the target aromatic components in wastewater were effectively retained and further released by *** showing the reversible adsorption and efficient enrichment effect,the HSPS-ACD(H)-packed fixed bed also maintained great stability in multiple ***,quantum chemical calculations were performed to elucidate the potential mechanism of adsorption of AP and 1-PE onto HSPS-ACD(H).
