Hatching and development of maize cyst nematode Heterodera zeae infecting different plant hosts

The occurrence, distribution, and rapid molecular detection technology of Heterodera zeae Koshy et al. 1971, have been reported in China. We explored the biological characteristics of H. zeae sampled in Henan Province, China to understand its interaction with plants. Cysts and second-stage juveniles(j2s) were identified under an optical and scanning electron microscope, internal transcribed spacer(ITS) phylogenetic tree, and sequence characterized amplified region(SCAR)-PCR analyses. The optimum hatching temperatures of H. zeae were 30°C and 28°C, with cumulative hatching rates of 16.5 and 16.1%, respectively, at 30 days post-hatching(dph). The hatching rate of H. zeae eggs was improved by 20-and 50-time maize soil leachate and root juice, and 10-time root exudates. The hatching rate in 10-time root exudates was the highest(25.9%). The 10-time root exudates of maize and millet produced the highest hatching rate at 30 dph(25.9 and 22.9%, respectively), followed by wheat(19.9%), barley(18.3%), and rice(17.6%). Heterodera zeae developed faster in maize than in other crops. Fourth-stage juveniles(j4s) were detected in maize roots 8 days post-inoculation(dpi) at 28°C but not in other crops. Combined with hatching tests, the Huang–Huai–Hai summer maize region and the south and central-southwest mountainous maize areas are highly suitable for H. zeae in China. This is the first systematically study of the hatching and infection characteristics on different plant hosts of corn cyst nematode H. zeae in temperate regions. This study laid a theoretical foundation for the rapid spread and high environmental adaptability of corn cyst nematode.

As the sole obligate symbiotic birds in Africa,oxpeckers offer a unique model for studying symbiotic *** to the multitrophic level they occupy and the context dependent foraging behavior they exhibit,the type of symbiotic relationship can be *** addition to providing a cleaning service to the host by removing ticks,oxpeckers frequently feed on blood,mucus,and saliva,inflicting potential damage on the ***,we used DNA metabarcoding on faecal samples to analyze the taxonomic composition of the trophic interactions of the Yellow-billed Oxpecker(Buphagus africanus)and Red-billed Oxpecker(***)in northeastern *** contrast to conventional methods,DNA metabarcoding allows for a detailed identification of dietary resources encompassing both mammal hosts and consumed arthropods within the same *** this information,we examined differences in the diet composition between oxpecker species and localities,as well as the co-occurrence between host and arthropod *** findings revealed that oxpeckers predominantly source their diet from mammals,ticks,and flies;however,ticks and flies rarely co-occur in the diet of an *** observed variability among individuals in their feeding ecology,which is strongly correlated with locality and,to a lesser extent,with the mammal *** noted a high degree of mobility between hosts within relatively short periods,with 32%of the samples showing traces of at least two mammal *** study illustrates the dynamic foraging behavior of these specialized symbiotic birds,shedding light on their potential role in pest control services and disease transmission.

Iron-metal clusters are crucial in a variety of critical biological and material systems,including metalloenzymes,catalysts,and magnetic storage ***,a synthetic high-nuclear iron cluster has been absent due to the extreme difficulty in stabilizing species with direct iron-iron *** this work,we have synthesized,crystallized,and characterized a（Tp*）4W4S12(Fe@Fe12) cluster(Tp*=tris（3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazolyl）borate（1-）),which features a rare trideca-nuclear,icosahedral[Fe@Fe12] cluster core with direct multicenter iron-iron bonding between the interstitial iron（Fei） and peripheral irons（Fep）,as well as Fep…Fepferromagnetic *** chemistry studies reveal that the stability of the cluster arises from the 18-electron shell-closing of the [Fe@Fe12]16+core,assisted by its bonding interactions with the peripheral tridentate [（Tp*）WS3]4-ligands which possess both S→Fe donation and spin-polarized Fe-Wσ *** ground-state electron spin is theoretically predicted to be S=32/2 for the *** existence of low oxidation-state（OS～+1.23） iron in this compound may find interesting applications in magnetic storage,spintronics,redox chemistry,and cluster catalysis.

Hot Compression Behavior and Tensile Property of a Novel Ni-Co-Based Superalloy Prepared by Electron Beam Smelting Layered Solidification Technology

The hot compression behavior and tensile strength after compression of a new Ni-Co-based superalloy produced using electron beam smelting layered(EBSL)solidification technology were *** compression tests were performed at temperatures of 1120℃and 1150℃,with strain rates of 1 s^(-1) and 0.01 s^(-1),reaching a true strain of *** strength was evaluated at room *** results revealed that this EBSL technology accelerates dynamic recrystallization(DRX),without compromising the strength of alloy.A significant correlation between the volume fraction of DRX and the strain rate was observed,with higher fractions at lower strain rates,leading to higher tensile ***,at the same strain rate,the specimens compressed at 1120℃exhibited higher tensile strength due to undissolvedγ′*** solution and aging heat treatment,the alloy maintained high tensile *** results suggested that the EBSL Ni-Co-based superalloy offers excellent prospects for practical applications.

Designing high-performance electrocatalysts toward hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is essential to reduce the activation barrier and optimize free adsorption energy of reactive ***,we report that incorporating high-valence Cr into NiSe_(2)(Cr_(x)Ni_(1-x)Se_(2))kinetically and thermodynamically expedites elementary steps of both HER and *** as-prepared Cr_(0.05)Ni_(0.95)Se_(2) catalyst displays excellent HER and OER activities,with low overpotentials of 89 and 272 mV at the current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2)(j10),respectively,and remains stable during operation for 30 h.A low cell voltage of only 1.59 V is required to drive j10 in alkaline *** situ Raman spectroscopy reveals that Cr incorporation facilitates the formation of NiOOH active species during the OER ***,theoretical explorations demonstrate that high-valence Cr incorporation efficiently accelerates water dissociation kinetics and improves H*adsorption during HER process,lowering the activation barrier of OER and optimizing the adsorption energy of oxygen-based intermediate,thus kinetically and thermodynamically enhancing the intrinsic performance of NiSe_(2) for over water *** strategy provides a new horizon to design transition metal based electrocatalysts in the clean energy field.

Nineteen new cadinane-involving sesquiterpenoid dimers,artemordins A-S(1-—19),together with 13 known SDs(20-32)were isolated from Artemisia *** structures and absolute configurations were established by comprehensive spectral analyses,X-ray single crystal diffraction,theoretical ECD,and NMR ***,artemordins A-F(1—6)were the first examples of two cadinane units constructed by unprecedented C-3−C-15′or C-3−C-13′single bond with an oxido-rearranged 6/5/6/6 fused ring system;artemordins G-K(7-11)were biogenetically connected by[4+2]cycloaddition reaction and artemordins G-j(7-10)possessed a novel 5/6/6/6/6/6/5-heptacyclic fused ring *** L-S(12-19)were formed by esterification,which involved three different types of *** assay suggested that the most active compounds,artemordins B and H(2 and 8),exhibited inhibitory activities on three hepatoma cell lines with IC50 values of 26.9 and 25.1μmol/L(HepG2),29.5 and 18.3μmol/L(Huh7),19.7 and 15.7μmol/L(SK-Hep-1).

Al-Si alloy, a high temperature phase change material, has great potential in thermal management due to its advantages of high heat storage density and thermal conductivity. Microencapsulation of Al-Si alloy is one of the effective techniques to solve high temperature leakage and corrosion. In this paper, com-mercial Al-10Si alloy micro powders were encapsulated with flexible ceramic shells whose total thickness is below 1 mu m by hydrothermal treatment and heat treatment in N 2 atmosphere. The compositions and microstructures were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. The shell was composed of AlN fibers net-work structure embedded with alpha-Al2O3/AlN which prevented the alloy from leaking and oxidizing, as well as had excellent thermal stability. The latent heat of microcapsules was 351.8 j g -1 for absorption and 372.7 j g -1 for exothermic. The microcapsules showed near zero thermal performance loss with latent heat storage (LHS)/ release (LHR) was 353.2/ 403.7 j g -1 after 30 0 0 cycles. Compared with the published Al-Si alloy microcapsules, both high heat storage density and super thermal cycle stability were achieved, showing promising development prospects in high temperature thermal management.
