A module based modeling framework for estimating lunar dust deposition due to human activities

lunar dust is considered to be one of the top challenges for enabling humans to have extended stays on the *** activities such as module landings and launches,walking,rover operation and construction activities will inevitably produce a significant amount of ***,it is important to estimate the potential range and intensity of dust deposition caused by these activities to minimize dust accumulation over time and for maintenance planning and execution.A modular model that correlates the dust deposition distribution with initial mean dust particle velocity,its mean ejected angle and the total amount of ejected mass is developed for an elementary mechanical *** modular model is further employed to form a modeling framework to estimate dust deposition of a trajectory based activity of similar repeated movements such as the landing process of a lander,walking and rover *** model forms a unified modeling framework for different trajectory-based activities and is shown to predict consistent and physically meaningful ranges and intensities of dust deposition provided reliable data to calibrate the model parameters.

The triggering mechanism for radio lobes from late-type galaxies is not fully *** samples are desired for a thorough investigation and *** utilizing the optical data from the newly released Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument imaging surveys and the radio sources from the NRAO VlA Sky Survey and the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-centimeter,we identify four late-type Galaxies with double Radio lobes(la GRls):J0217-3645,J0947+6220,J1412+3723 and J1736+*** previously known la GRls,we confirm the correlation between radio power P_(1.4GHz)and stellar mass M_(*)of host ***(25/35)la GRls belong to the blue cloud galaxies,while the newly identified cases in this work are located within the region of the red *** find a clear correlation between the differential radio power,i.e.,the offset from the P_(1.4GHz)-M_(*)relation,and the galaxy color,indicating that bluer galaxies at a fixed M_(*)tend to host more powerful radio ***,the majority(31/36)of la GRls are either located in a galaxy group or displaying a disturbed *** suggest that all of the galaxy mass,color and surrounding environment could play important roles in triggering radio lobes in late-type galaxies.

The generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the mid-infrared(mid-IR)to terahertz(THz)range is of interest for applications in a number of fields,from fundamental research to biology and *** conventional laser technology,photon deceleration in plasma wakes provides an alternative approach to the generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz ***,we present a photon deceleration scheme for the efficient generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz pulses by using an intense driver laser pulse with a relatively short wavelength and a signal laser pulse with a relatively long *** signal pulse trails the driver pulse with an appropriate time delay such that it sits at the front of the second wake bubble that is driven by the driver *** to its relatively long wavelength,the signal pulse will be subjected to a large gradient of the refractive index in the plasma wake ***,the photon deceleration in the plasma wake becomes faster and more efficient for signal pulses with longer *** greatly enhances the capacity and efficiency of photon deceleration in the generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the long-wavelength IR and THz spectral ranges.

Within the context of Gurtin-Murdoch surface elasticity theory,closed-form analytical solutions are derived for an isotropic elastic half-plane subjected to a concentrated/uniform surface *** the effects of residual surface stress and surface elasticity are *** stress function method and Fourier integral transform technique are *** solutions are provided in a compact manner that can easily reduce to special situations that take into account either one surface effect or none at *** results indicate that surface effects generally lower the stress levels and smooth the deformation profiles in the *** elasticity plays a dominant role in the in-plane elastic fields for a tangentially loaded half-plane,while the effect of residual surface stress is fundamentally crucial for the out-of-plane stress and displacement when the half-plane is normally *** the remaining situations,combined effects of surface elasticity and residual surface stress should be *** results for a concentrated surface force serve essentially as fundamental solutions of the Flamant and the half-plane Cerruti problems with surface *** solutions presented in this work may be helpful for understanding the contact behaviors between solids at the nanoscale.

Precipitation of multi-type nano-quasicrystals in a Mg-zn-Y alloy

Mg-6zn-1Y(at.%)ribbons with strengthening precipitates of multi-type nanoquasicrystals were prepared by melt-spinning followed by aging *** evolution of the rapidly solidified ribbons during isothermal aging was comprehensively studied using various electron microscopy *** new kinds of decagonal quasicrystals were formed in aged ribbons,in addition to precipitation of nanometer icosahedral ***-resolution observations reveal that both decagonal quasicrystals can be modeled by quasiperiodic tiling with decagonal clusters of 2.5 nm in diameter,but overlap of neighboring clusters in both decagonal quasicrystals is different from the Gummelt model observed in other quasicrystals.A shell composed of complex laves Mg-zn domains was formed surrounding each decagonal quasicrystal precipitate upon prolonged *** addition,all kinds of nanoprecipitates exhibit excellent structure and size stability at 573 *** findings may have implications for not only fundamental studies about quasicrystals,but also microstructural manipulation of high-performance Mg alloys.

Post-layout simulation provides accurate guidance for analog circuit design, but post-layout performance is hard to be directly optimized at early design stages. Prior work on analog circuit sizing often utilizes pre-layout simulation results as the optimization objective. In this work, we propose a post-layoutsimulation-driven(post-simulation-driven for short) analog circuit sizing framework that directly optimizes the post-layout simulation performance. The framework integrates automated layout generation into the optimization loop of transistor sizing and leverages a coupled Bayesian optimization algorithm to search for the best post-simulation performance. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework can achieve over 20% better post-layout performance in competitive time than manual design and the method that only considers pre-layout optimization.

Thrust estimation is a significant part of aeroengine thrust control *** traditional estimation methods are either low in accuracy or large in *** further improve the estimation effect,a thrust estimator based on Multi-layer Residual Temporal Convolutional Network(M-RTCN)is *** solve the problem of dead Rectified linear Unit(RelU),the proposed method uses the Gaussian Error linear Unit(GElU)activation function instead of RelU in residual *** the overall architecture of the multi-layer convolutional network is adjusted by using residual connections,so that the network thrust estimation effect and memory consumption are further ***,the comparison with seven other methods shows that the proposed method has the advantages of higher estimation accuracy and faster convergence ***,six neural network models are deployed in the embedded controller of the micro-turbojet *** Hardware-in-the-loop(HIl)testing results demonstrate the superiority of M-RTCN in terms of estimation accuracy,memory occupation and running ***,an ignition verification is conducted to confirm the expected thrust estimation and real-time performance.

The surface charge accumulation on the basin insulator is a particular problem in high-voltage direct current(HVDC)gas insulated switchgears(GIS)and gas insulated trans-mission lines(GIl),which restricts the development and application of extra/ultra high-voltage(EHV/UHV)*** surface charge distribution and anti-flashover performance are closely related to the insulator *** obtain the optimal basin insulator,a shape optimisation model based on artificial bee colony algorithm was established,and the minimisation objective functions based on capacitive(initial)electric field distribution and resistive(steady-state)electric field distribution were respectively *** optimisation results of the two objective functions were calculated,and the electric field and charge distribution on the surface of the insulator before and after optimisation were evaluated and compared using the simulation *** results indicated that the optimisation based on the capacitive electric field can significantly inhibit the surface charge accumulation,and the optimised insulator can significantly reduce the surface normal electric field and make the distribution of the tangential electric field more uniform,and the maximum tangential electric field can be reduced by 10%;the optimisation based on resistive electric field can achieve similar results,but requires more computational *** on the results,the‘anti-charge’basin insulator structure suitable for the DC field was given.
