Precipitation of multi-type nano-quasicrystals in a Mg-zn-Y alloy

Mg-6zn-1Y(at.%)ribbons with strengthening precipitates of multi-type nanoquasicrystals were prepared by melt-spinning followed by aging *** evolution of the rapidly solidified ribbons during isothermal aging was comprehensively studied using various electron microscopy *** new kinds of decagonal quasicrystals were formed in aged ribbons,in addition to precipitation of nanometer icosahedral ***-resolution observations reveal that both decagonal quasicrystals can be modeled by quasiperiodic tiling with decagonal clusters of 2.5 nm in diameter,but overlap of neighboring clusters in both decagonal quasicrystals is different from the Gummelt model observed in other quasicrystals.A shell composed of complex laves Mg-zn domains was formed surrounding each decagonal quasicrystal precipitate upon prolonged *** addition,all kinds of nanoprecipitates exhibit excellent structure and size stability at 573 *** findings may have implications for not only fundamental studies about quasicrystals,but also microstructural manipulation of high-performance Mg alloys.

Extensive experimental studies have been performed on the Diels-Alder(DA)reactions in ionic liquids(Ils),which demonstrate that the Il environment can significantly influence the reaction rates and ***,the underlying microscopic mechanism remains *** this work,the multiscale reaction density functional theory is applied to explore the effect of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate([BMIM][PF_(6)])solvent on the reaction of cyclopentadiene(CP)with acrolein,methyl acrylate,or *** analyzing the free energy landscape during the reaction,it is found that the polarization effect has a relatively small influence,while the solvation effect makes both the activation free energy and reaction free energy *** addition,the rearrangement of local solvent structure shows that the cation spatial distribution responds more evidently to the reaction than the anion,and this indicates that the cation plays a dominant role in the solvation effect and so as to affect the reaction rates and selectivity of the DA reactions.

lithium-ion thermoelectrochemical cell(lTEC), featuring simultaneous energy conversion and storage, has emerged as promising candidate for low-grade heat harvesting. However, relatively poor thermosensitivity and heat-to-current behavior limit the application of lTECs using liPF_6 electrolyte. Introducing additives into bulk electrolyte is a reasonable strategy to solve such problem by modifying the solvation structure of electrolyte ions. In this work, we develop a dual-salt electrolyte with fluorosurfactant(FS) additive to achieve high thermopower and durability of lTECs during the conversion of low-grade heat into electricity. The addition of FS induces a unique li~+ solvation with the aggregated double anions through a crowded electrolyte environment,resulting in an enhanced mobility kinetics of li~+ as well as boosted thermoelectrochemical performances. By coupling optimized electrolyte with graphite electrode, a high thermopower of 13.8 mV K^(-1) and a normalized output power density of 3.99 mW m^(–2) K^(–2) as well as an outstanding output energy density of 607.96 J m^(-2) can be *** results demonstrate that the optimization of electrolyte by regulating solvation structure will inject new vitality into the construction of thermoelectrochemical devices with attractive properties.

Based on the characteristics of high-end products,crowd-sourcing user stories can be seen as an effective means of gathering requirements,involving a large user base and generating a substantial amount of unstructured *** key challenge lies in transforming abstract user needs into specific ones,requiring integration and ***,we propose a topic mining-based approach to categorize,summarize,and rank product requirements from user ***,after determining the number of story categories based on py lDAvis,we initially classify“I want to”phrases within user ***,classic topic models are applied to each category to generate their names,defining each post-classification user story category as a ***,a weighted ranking function is devised to calculate the importance of each ***,we validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method using 2966 crowd-sourced user stories related to smart home systems.

Dear Editor,Since the first plant receptor-like kinase(RlK)gene zmPK1 was cloned from zea mays in 1990(Walker and zhang,1990),this large gene family has been extensively studied and shown to play crucial roles in growth,development,and immunity(Tang et al.,2017).RlKs are widespread in the plant ***,biological functions of most RlKs remain largely elusive(Dievart et al.,2020).Given RlKs share a conserved monophyletic RlK/Pelle kinase domain,RlKs in several model plants are classified into distinct families by extracellular domains(Shiu and Bleecker,2001).However,independent domain shuffling in specific lineages drives the origin of novel families,which raises a question what is the landscape of RlKs across the entire plant kingdom?Previously,sequence-homology-based methods have been widely used for RlK identification and classification,which might miss distantly related proteins with similar structures and potential novel families not mentioned in the *** academic community urgently requires a dedicated database for a systematic overview of the RlK gene family,providing data support for in-depth research on RlK ***,we used a topology-based method to accurately isolate the RlKomes from *** obtained RlKomes were further classified into(sub)families based on extracellular *** con-structed a comprehensively curated plant RlK database(https://***/rlkdb),which contains valuable re-sources for investigating the origin and evolution of the RlK fam-ily and multiple online tools for personalized analysis.

Hydrogen(H2)has been regarded as a promising alternative to fossil-fuel *** H2 produced via water electrolysis(WE)powered by renewable energy could achieve a zero-carbon *** attention has been focused on developing highly active catalysts to facilitate the reaction kinetics and improve the energy efficiency of ***,the stability of the electrocatalysts hampers the commercial viability of *** studies have elucidated the origin of catalyst *** this review,we first discuss the WE mechanism,including anodic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Then,we provide strategies used to enhance the stability of *** that,the deactivation mechanisms of the typical commercialized HER and OER catalysts,including Pt,Ni,RuO_(2),and IrO_(2),are ***,the influence of fluctuating energy on catalyst degradation is highlighted and in situ characterization methodologies for understanding the dynamic deactivation processes are described.

Carbon emissions associated with buildings are a major source of urban emissions. To put forward the methods and strategies to curb carbon emissions from urban building stock, it is not only necessary to establish a carbon emission calculation method for fine statistical analysis, but also to evaluate carbon emissions of urban planning schemes with applicable indexes. Currently,researches mainly focus on carbon emissions of individual buildings. When expanded to urban building stock, the calculation faces the lack of basic data, inadequate spatial analysis and unspecific carbon reduction indexes. Therefore, this study proposes a bottom-up calculation method for urban building stock, conducts spatial analysis based on carbon balance of urban grids, reveals the coupling mechanism between urban carbon reduction indexes and grid carbon emissions, and systematically establishes a carbon-reduction-oriented urban planning method that comprises calculation, analysis and evaluation, which is applied to Xi'an,China. This study provides a theoretical reference for cities to formulate carbon reduction targets and implement planning strategies by evaluating and predicting carbon emissions from urban building stock.

Evolution and Determinants of Population Agglomeration in less Developed Metropolitan Areas:A Case Study of the Taiyuan Metropolitan Area,China

It is of importance to enhance the urban areas'capacity for population aggregation in underdeveloped regions,aiming to rectify the imbalanced and insufficient pattern of economic development in *** the Taiyuan Metropolitan Area(TMA)in central China as a case study,this paper examines the evolutionary process and characteristics of population agglomeration from 2000 to 2020,and identifies factors associated with agglomeration and their spatial *** findings indicated that:1)against the background of sustained population shrinkage in the provincial area,the TMA showed a demographic trend of steady increase,albeit with a decelerated growth *** the metropolitan area,urban population size continued to grow rapidly,whereas the rural areas endured sustained *** in city size continued to widen,and the polarization of concentrated population in the core cities kept increasing.2)Agglomerations in both secondary and service industries had significant positive effects on local population agglomeration,with the former effect being *** economic development,government fiscal expenditure,and financial advancement all contributed to facilitating local population *** a spatial spillover perspective,service agglomeration and financial development promoted population agglomeration in surrounding ***,fiscal expenditure inhibited such *** for industrial agglomeration and regional economic development,their spatial spillover effects were *** results obtained reveal several policy implications aimed at enhancing the population agglomeration capacity of the metropolitan area in underdeveloped regions during the new era.

Here we employ in-situ UV-Vis spectroscopy to monitor the sulfur redox reaction with oxygen-containing molecules as an additive,for example,biphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid(BDC).Furthermore,Raman spectrum,electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR),and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry(ESI-MS)measurements reveal that the formation of BDC-S_(3)•^(‒)complexes can establish the long-term stability of polysulfide radicals,change the kinetics of sulfur redox reaction,and then generate decent capacity retention and rate *** to the density functional theory(DFT)analysis,S_(3)•^(‒)radicals are the underlying product of S_(6)^(2‒)cleavage,owing to the decreased chemical energy and the increased stability of S_(3)•^(‒)radicals through lewis acid-base *** assembled li-S batteries with BDC additive deliver a high reversible capacity of 420 mA·h·g^(−1)over 200 cycles with over 98%Coulombic efficiency,under the current density of 0.2 C.
