Lysophosphatidylcholine binds α-synuclein and prevents its pathological aggregation

Accumulation of aggregated α-synuclein(α-syn) in Lewy bodies is the pathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease(PD). genetic mutations in lipid metabolism are causative for a subset of patients with Parkinsonism. The role of α-syn's lipid interactions in its function and aggregation is recogniz.d, yet the specific lipids involved and how lipid metabolism issues trigger α-syn aggregation and neurodegeneration remain unclear. Here, we found that α-syn shows a preference for binding to lysophospholipids(LPLs),particularly targeting lysophosphatidylcholine(LPC) without relying on electrostatic interactions. LPC is capable of maintaining α-syn in a compact conformation, significantly reducing its propensity to aggregate both in vitro and within cellular environments. Conversely, a reduction in the production of cellular LPLs is associated with an increase in α-syn accumulation. Our work underscores the critical role of LPLs in preserving the natural conformation of α-syn to inhibit improper aggregation, and establishes a potential connection between lipid metabolic dysfunction and α-syn aggregation in PD.

Advancements in microwave photonics have yielded novel approaches for generating high-purity microwave *** these,optoelectronic oscillators(OEOs)and coupled optoelectronic oscillators(COEOs)have demonstrated the capability to generate frequency-independent microwaves with exceptionally low phase ***,the tunability of the oscillators is rather limited due to the necessity for narrowband electronic bandpass filters,presenting challenges in achieving both wide and rapid tuning ***,we present a COEO featuring ultralow phase noise,flexible tuning capability,and high *** is achieved through a quiet point(QP)-operated harmonic mode-locked fiber laser,which effectively mitigates optical amplifier noise and supermode competition,thus significantly diminishing the necessity for ultra-narrow electronic *** to the liberated tuning ability,we present an oscillator that can be tuned from 2 gHz.to 18 gHz.with phase noise as low as-140 d Bc/Hz.at 10 k Hz.under the QP *** then illustrate the practical application of the proposed oscillator in generating frequency-hopping signals with consistent spurious modes less than-85 d Bc,absolute phase noise below-135 d Bc/Hz.at 10 k Hz.hopping resolution of 1.25 MHz.and fractional frequency stability below 6.1×10^(-12)at 1 s averaging time when locked to a *** presented COEO structure emerges as a compelling solution for agile and low-noise microwave sources in advanced wireless communication and radar systems.

It is well known that single-atom catalysts(SACs)have become a hot topic in the field of catalysis due to their advantages such as 100% metal atom utiliz.tion efficiency,high catalytic activity and selectivity compared with conventional catalysts and nanocatalysts. However, the isolated metal atoms on SACs have thermodynamic instability and tend to agglomerate, which limit their catalytic ***, it is of great significance to synthesiz. stable and high-loading single-atom catalysts(HLSACs). In this paper,we review the research progress of HLSACs from two aspects:design and application. Firstly, we comprehensively introduce the synthesis strategies of HLSACs, namely, top-down and bottom-up methods. Secondly, we overview the application status of HLSACs in three fields: electrocatalysis, thermal catalysis and photocatalysis. Finally, we summariz. the development prospects and challenges of HLSACs.

The last two decades have witnessed the invention and development of superresolution microscopy(SRM), which breaks the diffraction limit of light and pushes the resolution of fluorescence microscopy to several nanometers. SRM is now widely applied in biological studies such as resolving subdiffraction structures, molecular mapping, single molecule tracking, probing protein-protein interactions, and observing organelle dynamics. However, its direct application in translational medicine such as disease diagnosis is still preliminary. Despite their small siz., cilia play a crucial role as organelles in cell signaling and motility, and defects in cilia lead to ciliopathy. Like other miniature organelles and macromolecular complexes, cilia are ideal for superresolution imaging. In this review, we will 1) introduce cilia and ciliopathy, 2) show how SRM extends our knowledge of cilia, and 3) focus on how SRM improves the diagnosis of motile ciliopathies.

Suppressing the formation of amorphous surface carbon and contaminants during the preparation of graphene by chemical vapor deposition remains an ongoing ***,we analyz.d how substrate characteristics affect graphene quality by simulating margin extension,the nucleation process,and defect pegging configurations on mono-crystalline oriented metal substrates with the aim of enhancing graphene *** formation energy and nucleation potential,which are indirect substrate–graphene interaction features,were found to appropriately evaluate graphene *** crystallographic orientation of the metal substrate was discovered to be critical for producing superclean graphene.A low graphene defect density and high nucleation rate on the Cu(100)facet guarantee growth of high-quality graphene,especially in terms of suppressing the formation of amorphous *** addition,rapid kink growth and self-healing on the Cu(100)facet facilitate rapid graphene synthesis,which is also promoted by rapid kink splicing and margin self-repair on this *** study provides theoretical insight useful for the synthesis of superclean graphene.
