Genetic diversity of the S-type small subunit ribosomal RNA gene of Plasmodium knowlesi isolates from Sabah,Malaysian Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia

Objective:To determine the genetic diversity of Plasmodium(P.)knowlesi isolates from Sabah,Malaysian Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia,targeting the S-type SSU rRNA gene and including aspects of natural selection and ***:Thirty-nine blood samples infected with *** were collected in Sabah,Malaysian Borneo and Peninsular *** S-type SSU rRNA gene was amplified using polymerase chain reaction,cloned into a vector,and *** natural selection and haplotype of the S-type SSU rRNA gene sequences were determined using DnaSP v6 and illustrated using NETWORK *** study's 39 S-type SSU rRNA sequences and eight sequences from the Genbank database were subjected to phylogenetic analysis using MEGA ***:Overall,the phylogenetic analysis showed no evidence of a geographical cluster of *** isolates from different areas in Malaysia based on the S-type SSU rRNA gene *** S-type SSU rRNA gene sequences were relatively conserved and with a purifying *** sharing of the S-type SSU rRNA gene was observed between the *** isolates in Sabah,Malaysian Borneo,but not between Sabah,Malaysian Borneo and Peninsular ***:This study suggests that the S-type SSU rRNA gene of *** isolates in Sabah,Malaysian Borneo,and Peninsular Malaysia has fewer polymorphic sites,representing the conservation of the *** features make the S-type SSU rRNA gene suitable for comparative studies,such as determining the evolutionary relationships and common ancestry among *** species.

Background:Intestinal parasitic infections(IPIs)among indigenous people have been widely documented in Malaysia,however,the prevalence of these infections remains *** the past,most studies have focused on specific species of parasites but polyparasitism has received limited *** addition,epidemiology studies on indigenous people tend to consider them as a homogenous group,whereas in reality different sub-ethnic groups have different cultural and living *** in living habits such as personal hygiene practices may predispose different groups to different parasitic *** better understand prevalence and risk factors of intestinal parasitism among different sub-ethnic groups,the present study was conducted among two sub-ethnic groups of indigenous people(Temuan and Mah Meri)residing in Selangor state,***:A cross-sectional study that focused on two distinct sub-ethnic groups was carried out from February to September *** samples were collected from 186 participants and examined using the formalin-ether sedimentation technique.A molecular approach was adopted to conduct a genetic characterisation of the ***,questionnaires were administered to obtain information on the demographics,socioeconomic backgrounds and behavioural risks relating to the participants,as well as information about their *** analyses(*** and multivariate logistic regression analyses)were performed to measure risk ***:For Temuan communities,trichuriasis(64.2%)was the most common infection found,preceding hookworm infection(34%),ascariasis(7.5%),giardiasis(14.2%)and amoebiasis(7.5%).As for the Mah Meri communities,trichuriasis(77.5%)prevailed over ascariasis(21.3%),hookworm(15%),giardiasis(7.5%)and amoebiasis(3.8%).Significant differences in proportions of trichuriasis,ascariasis and hookworm infections were observed between the Temuan and Mah Meri sub-ethnic *** was more

In this paper we consider the random r-uniform r-partite hypergraph model H（n1, n2,…, nr; n, p） which consists of all the r-uniform r-partite hypergraphs with vertex partition {V1,V2,…, Vr} where ｜Vi｜ = ni = ni（n）（1 ≤ i ≤ r） are positive integer-valued functions on n with n1 ＋n2 ＋… ＋nr =n, and each r-subset containing exactly one element in Vi （1 ≤ i ≤ r） is chosen to be a hyperedge of Hp ∈H（n1,n2,…,nr;n,p） with probability p = p（n）, all choices being independent. E dible bird’s nest(EBN)hydrolysates have been proven to exhibit enhanced ***,being a macromolecule,fractions with different molecular weights would have different properties and ***,this research was aimed to determine the chemical properties and antioxidant activities of freezedried(EBN_(FD))and spray-dried EBN(EBN_(SD))hydrolysates fractionated using gel permeation chromatography(GPC).Overall,two well-separated fractions were identified(EBN_(fFD1),EBN_(fFD2),EBN_(fSD1) and EBN_(fSD2)).EBNFD demonstrated significantly higher(P≤0.05)peptide(3.6%),total carbohydrate(27.7%)and sialic acid(18.2%)contents than that of *** trend was observed in low molecular weight fractionates(EBN_(fFD2) and EBN_(fSD2)).Meanwhile,the first fractionates(EBN_(fFD1) and EBN_(fSD1))exhibited significantly higher(P≤0.05)hydroxyl radical(·OH)scavenging *** transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy demonstrated that all EBN fractionates have similar spectrum,except in the region of N—H(amideⅡ)and C—H alkyl *** conclusion,EBN fractionates with different molecular weights showed different chemical properties and antioxidant activities.

Intelligent Prescription-Generating Models of Traditional Chinese Medicine Based on Deep Learning

Objective:This study aimed to construct an intelligent prescription-generating(IPG)model based on deep-learning natural language processing(NLP)technology for multiple prescriptions in Chinese *** and Methods:We selected the Treatise on Febrile Diseases and the Synopsis of Golden Chamber as basic datasets with EDA data augmentation,and the Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine,the Classic of the Miraculous Pivot,and the Classic on Medical Problems as supplementary datasets for *** selected the word-embedding model based on the Imperial Collection of Four,the bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT)model based on the Chinese Wikipedia,and the robustly optimized BERT approach(RoBERTa)model based on the Chinese Wikipedia and a general *** addition,the BERT model was fine-tuned using the supplementary datasets to generate a Traditional Chinese Medicine-BERT *** IPG models were constructed based on the pretraining strategy and experiments were *** of precision,recall,and F1-score were used to assess the model *** on the trained models,we extracted and visualized the semantic features of some typical texts from treatise on febrile diseases and investigated the ***:Among all the trained models,the RoBERTa-large model performed the best,with a test set precision of 92.22%,recall of 86.71%,and F1-score of 89.38%and 10-fold cross-validation precision of 94.5%±2.5%,recall of 90.47%±4.1%,and F1-score of 92.38%±2.8%.The semantic feature extraction results based on this model showed that the model was intelligently stratified based on different meanings such that the within-layer’s patterns showed the associations of symptom–symptoms,disease–symptoms,and symptom–punctuations,while the between-layer’s patterns showed a progressive or dynamic symptom and disease ***:Deep-learning-based NLP technology significantly improves the performance of IPG mo

Erector Spinae Plane Block for Mastectomy and Breast Flap Reconstructive Surgery: A Three Case Series

Uncontrolled pain after breast surgery can have early to chronic repercussions. The repertoire of pre-emptive opioid-sparing analgesic options includes regional blocks such as paravertebral blocks to myofascial blocks and more recently the Erector Spinae (ESP) block. Case 1 demonstrates the ESP block as an easy and conveniently performed post-operative rescue block for a patient who still experienced uncontrolled pain despite a combination of myofascial blocks and systemic analgesics. Case 2 and 3 demonstrate the advantage of providing an extensive coverage of surgical field in breast reconstruction surgery covering variable donor sites. It was due to the extent of coverage, that allowed the placement of ESP block catheter distantly without interrupting the surgical site. Post operative prolongation of pain relief was also successful by titrating analgesia via intermittent boluses. In our case series, the ESP block consistently and safely provided satisfactory pain relief for breast reconstruction surgery. It can be a viable option for peri-operative analgesia compared to other more invasive or less extensive alternatives.

Structural predictions based on the compositions of cathodic materials by first-principles calculations

A first-principles method is applied to comparatively study the stability of lithium metal oxides with layered or spinel structures to predict the most energetically favorable structure for different compositions. The binding and reaction energies of the real or virtual layered lim02 and spinel lim204 （M = Sc42u, Y-Ag, Mg-Sr, and Al-In） are calculated. The effect of element M on the structural stability, espe- cially in the case of multiple-cation compounds, is discussed herein. The calculation results indicate that the phase stability depends on both the binding and reaction energies. The oxidation state of element M also plays a role in determining the dominant structure, i.e., layered or spinel phase. Moreover, calculation-based theoretical predictions of the phase stability of the doped materials agree with the previously re- ported experimental data.

Erector Spinae Plane Block for Open and Laparoscopic Liver Surgery: Two Case Reports

Epidural analgesia has long been regarded as the gold standard in abdominal surgery. However, concerns regarding risks associated with central neuraxial blockade, catheter placement and the presence of coagulopathy in patients undergoing liver resection have limited its use. Bilateral erector spinae plane blocks and catheter placement may mimic the effects of epidural analgesia by blocking both somatic and visceral pain while concomitantly avoiding central neuraxial blockade and catheter placement. We describe our experience in using the erector spinae plane block and catheter placement as part of a multimodal analgesia approach in a patient undergoing laparoscopic and another patient undergoing open liver resection. Our findings concur with previous reports which suggest that erector spinae plane blocks may be more efficacious as somatic rather than visceral analgesia. However, we conclude that further studies on factors affecting its efficacy should be conducted in view of the present lack of researched evidence.
