Sorption isotherms of methane and hydrogen on Cu3(BTC)2 have been measured in the temperature range from 273 to 318 k.and at pressures up to 15 MPa. H2 excess sorption capacities of the Cu3(BTC)2 amounted to 3.9 mg/g at 14 MPa. Promising maximum CH4 excess sorption capacities on the same sample were reached at approximately 5 MPa. They amounted to 101, 100, 92 and 80 mg/g at 273, 278, 293 and 318 k. respectively. The sorbed phase density was essestially the same for all temperatures and amounted to ~600 k./m3. Structural changes of the Cu3(BTC)2 samples after thermal activation and treatment with high pressure H2 and CH4 were tested. It was found that the initial micropore structure has virtually disappeared as evidenced by a decrease of the Langmuir specific surface area by a factor ~3 and CO2 micropore volume by a factor of ~4 for H2 and ~3 for CH4. This is in line with an increase in the average pore diameter from initially 9.2 to 15.7 for H2 and 12.8 for CH4.

Look.ng of finding an alternative to the use of chemical fertilizers to increase yields of cassava (Manihot esculenta), trials were carried out in the Lamto zone in central Côte d’Ivoire. Thus, the effects of compost and ash from cocoa shell and NPK were tested on the agronomic parameters of cassava. The trial was conducted for two years with four varieties of cassava: Yacé, Alleda agba, Six mois and Bonoua, grown on elementary plots treated with one of these fertilizers. The experimental design was complete randomized blocks with three replicates. Analysis of the results showed that the Six mois variety gave the longest stems (131, 67 cm) with the cocoa shell compost. The Bonoua variety, on the other hand, gave the largest diameter of the stem base (21.56 mm), a higher number of leaves (77.30) and a large wingspan (136.

Conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma is a common malignant tumor in adults. It affects the peri-limbic conjunctiva. This is a neoplasia that is increasing in tropical Africa because it occurs in subjects with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, in patients immunocompromised to the human immunodeficiency virus and HPV infection. Computed tomography allows one to mak. a diagnosis. We report the case of 57 patients in whom the diagnosis was made radiologically and confirmed by histology.

The duodenal metastases of a malignant melanoma are rare. We report a case at a 86-year-old, hypertense patient, without tumoral history, who was hospitalized in our department for a change of the general state and an anaemia ferriprive without found home (foyer) of display. In the clinical examination, we had found anemia syndrome, nodules under cutaneous about 2 cm in diameter at the level of the thorax, of the belly, the members and of the lower lip partners in a painless left adenopathy axillary about 3 cm in diameter and an absence of méléna in the rectal touch. The gastroscopy had highlighted polypoides ulcéro-bourgeonnantes hurts with a black.sh pigmentation by places at the level of the bulb and of the second duodenum. In the histology of biopsie fragments, we noted a fuso-cellular proliferation and epithelioid with deposits of melanin. The positivity of antibodies anti-protein S100 and anti HMB45 in the immunohistochemical study allowed confirming the diagnosis. The gastroduodenal hurts, persons suffering from a liver complaint and lungworts in the scanner testify of a terminal metastatic scattering. The death arose two months later, in a picture of circulatory collapse further to a high digestive bleeding of big abundance.

The purpose of this study is to determine the morphological diversity and distribution of Garcinia k.la Heck.l (Clusiaceae) in two preferential agro-ecological growth areas in Cote d’Ivoire, for the sustainable management of the species. Ninety-four (94) trees of G. k.la were sampled in Affery (south) and Biank.uma (west) and characterized on the basis of 13 quantitative characteristics of the fruit, the general appearance of a plant, leaves and seeds. This study revealed the existence of very significant variability and differences within the trees sampled for most characteristics. Very strong correlations were found among the characteristics of the fruits. On the basis of these characteristics, it emerged that the fruits of the Biank.uma area are larger than those of Affery. Multivariate analyses show that diversity is structured with tree distribution into four distinct groups based on the following discriminating characteristics: fruit height (Hfr), leaf width (largF), seed mass (Mgr) and trunk.diameter (Dm). These parameters can be used as a basis for selecting and maintaining the high variability of G. k.la. Analysis of the geographical distribution of trees, based on the nearest neighbour model, revealed an aggregate distribution in both areas.

Two lactic acid bacteria strains (At1BEAE22 and At344E21) isolated during tchapalo production were identified on the basis of phenotypic analyses. Bacteriocins produced by these strains were tested for their antimicrobial activities using well diffusion agar method. Heat resistance, pH sensitivity and enzyme treatments were also analyzed. Results showed that both lactic acid bacteria strains were identified as Pediococcus acidilactici. Their bacteriocins inhibited growth of Lactobacillus delbrueck.i F/31, Listeria innocua ATCC 33090, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Streptococcus sp, Enterococcus faecalis CIP 105042 and Enterococcus faecium ATCC 51558. These bacteriocins were heat stable at 60°C for 30 min for all indicator bacteria. However, they remained active only against Lactobacillus delbrueck.i and Listeria innocua at 121°C for 60 min. Moreover, they were active in a wide range of pH (3 to 9) with a maximum activity observed at pH 5 and 6 on all indicator bacteria. But, bacteriocin from Pediococcus acidilactici At34E21 was more stable at acidic pH than basic one. The fact that the bacteriocin was inactivated by proteinase k.and α-chymotrypsin indicated its proteinaceous nature, a general characteristics of bacteriocins.

The composition, structure and Functional Feeding Groups (FFGs) of aquatic insects were investigated in k.djoboué lak. (South-East of Côte d’Ivoire) to assess water quality. Four sites (k. - k.) were sampled during eight campaigns. At each site aquatic insects were collected using a k.ck.net (25 × 20 cm, 500 μm mesh size). Environmental variables were also recorded during this period. Water was collected from each sampling site for nutrient (phosphorus, nitrate) analysis in laboratory. A total of 68 aquatic insect taxa belonging to six orders and 32 families were recorded during the study. Site k., subject to intense agricultural activity, had the lower diversity and least balanced stand with the lowest values of Shannon-Weaver index, Pielou’s Evenness index and rarefied richness. The functional approach revealed five major FFGs: predators, scrapers, shredders, gatherers-collectors and filter-collectors. Among the different functional feeding groups, the percentage of predators was higher than that of other groups at all the sites. The P/R report indicated that our four sites are characterized as heterotrophic with k. as the least heterotrophic. Focused Principal Component Analysis (FPCA) showed that parameters of water, lik. pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrate were statistically correlated with species abundance. The diversity and Functional Feeding Groups metrics of aquatic insects used to describe the state of k.djoboué lak. reveal its disturbed state.
