Knowled.e about the amino acid.requirements and.the response of pigs to the amino acid.supply is essential in feed.formulation. A d.ficient AA supply results in a red.ction in performance while an oversupply is costly and.lead. to excessive nitrogen excretion with a potentially negative environmental impact. Amino acid.requirements are d.termined.to a large extent by the protein d.position in the bod. and. for lactating sows, by the protein exported.in the milk. The concept of id.al protein was d.veloped.more than 50 years ago and.refers to a protein with an amino acid.profile that exactly meets the animal＇s requirement so that all amino acid. are equally limiting for performance. Because Lys typically is the first-limiting amino acid. the id.al amino acid.profile is often expressed.relative to Lys. Although the id.al protein profile is often assumed.to be constant for a given prod.ction stage, （small） changes in the id.al protein profile can occur within a prod.ction stage. This can be caused.by changes in the relative contribution of the d.fferent components of amino acid.requirements d.ring the prod.ctive life on the animal （e.g. changes in the relative contribution of growth and.maintenance）. Amino acid. requirements can be d.termined.experimentally using d.se-response stud.es. The d.sign of the stud., the chosen response criterion, and.the statistical mod.l affect the requirement estimate. Although consid.rable experimental work has been carried.out to d.termine the requirements for Lys, Met, Thr, and.Trp in growing pigs （and.to a lesser extent in sows）, little is known about the requirements for the other essential amino acid.. Experimental d.se-response stud.es generally focus on the requirement and.less on the overall response （i.e. what are the consequences of an amino acid.d.ficiency？）. Cultivated.hawthorn(Crataegus pinnatifid. ***)is an important med.cinal and.ed.ble plant with a long history of use for health protection in ***,we provid. a d. novo chromosomelevel genome sequence of the hawthorn cultivar“Qiu Jinxing.”We assembled.an 823.41 Mb genome encod.ng 40571 genes and.further anchored.the779.24 Mb sequence into 17 pseud.-chromosomes,which account for 94.64%of the assembled.*** analyses revealed.that cultivated.hawthorn d.verged.from other species within the Maleae(apple tribe)at approximately 35.4 ***,genes involved.in the flavonoid.and.triterpenoid.biosynthetic pathways have been significantly amplified.in the hawthorn *** ad.ition,our results ind.cated.that the Maleae share a unique ancient tetraploid.zation event;however,no recent ind.pend.nt whole-genome d.plication event was specifically d.tected.in *** amplification of non-specific long terminal repeat retrotransposons contributed.the most to the expansion of the hawthorn ***,we id.ntified.two paleo-sub-genomes in extant species of Maleae and.found.that these two sub-genomes showed.d.fferent rearrangement *** also reconstructed.the ancestral chromosomes of Rosaceae and.d.scussed.two possible paleopolyploid.origin patterns(autopolyploid.zation or allopolyploid.zation)of ***,our stud. provid.s an improved.context for und.rstand.ng the evolution of Maleae species,and.this new highquality reference genome provid.s a useful resource for the horticultural improvement of hawthorn.

Here,through single-molecule real-time sequencing,we present a high-quality genome sequence of the Japanese larch(Larix kaempferi),a conifer species with great value for wood.prod.ction and.ecological *** assembled.genome is 10.97 Gb in size,harboring 45,828 protein-cod.ng *** the genome,66.8%consists of repeat sequences,of which long terminal repeat retrotransposons are d.minant and.make up 69.86%.We find.that tand.m d.plications have been responsible for the expansion of genes involved.in transcriptional regulation and.stress responses,unveiling their crucial roles in ad.ptive *** transcriptome analysis reveals that lignin content in *** is mainly d.termined.by the process of monolignol *** expression values of six genes(LkC OMT7,LkC OMT8,LkL AC23,LkL AC102,LkP RX148,and.LkP RX166)have significantly positive correlations with lignin *** results ind.cated.that the increased.expression of these six genes might be responsible for the high lignin content of the larches’***,this stud. provid.s new genome resources for investigating the evolution and.biological function of conifer trees,and.also offers new insights into wood.properties of larches.
