A Double-Phase High-Frequency Traveling Magnetic Field Developed for Contactless Stirring of Low-Conducting Liquid Materials

The use of low electrically conducting liquids is more and more widespread.This is the case for molten glass,salt or slag processing,ionic liquids used in biotechnology,batteries in energy storage and metallurgy.The present paper deals with the design of a new electromagnetic induction device that can heat and stir low electricallyconducting liquids.It consists of a resistance-capacity-inductance circuit coupled with a low-conducting liquid load.The device is supplied by a unique electric power source delivering a single-phase high frequency electric current.The main working principle of the circuit is based on a double oscillating circuit inductor connected to the solid-state transistor generator.This technique,which yields a set of coupled oscillating circuits,consists of coupling a forced phase and an induced phase,neglecting the influence of the electric parameters of the loading part(i.e.,the low-conductivity liquid).It is shown that such an inductor is capable to provide a two-phase AC traveling magnetic field at high frequency.To better understand the working principle,the present work improves a previous existing simplified theory by taking into account a complex electrical equivalent diagram due to the different mutual couplings between the two inductors and the two corresponding induced current sets.A more detailed theoretical model is provided,and the key and sensitive elements are elaborated.Based on this theory,equipment is designed to provide a stirring effect on sodium chloride-salted water at 40 S/m.It is shown that such a device fed by several hundred kiloHertz electric currents is able to mimic a linear motor.A set of optimized operating parameters are proposed to guide the experiment.A pure electromagnetic numerical model is presented.Numerical modelling of the load is performed in order to assess the efficiency of the stirrer with a salt water load.Such a device can generate a significant liquid motion with both controlled flow patterns and adjustable amplitude.Based on the magnetohydrodynamic

Peripartum Cardiomyopathy in the Cardiology Department of the Chu Point G

Objective: This work aimed to evaluate the epidemiological clinical aspects and evolutionary aspects of peri partum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) in the cardiology department of the CHU Point G. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, including all patients admitted for heart failure during this period. Results: The study involved 40 patients out of 1187 admissions, a hospital prevalence of PPCM was 3.36%. The average age was 26 years plus or minus 7 years with extremes of 16 years and 38 years. The age group between 16 and 20 years was the most represented with 32.5% of cases. Housewives were in the majority with 87.6%;residing in rural areas 62.5%, with a low socio-economic standard of living 32.5% of cases. Multiparous in our context were dominant 42.5%, followed by pauci pares and primiparous with 32.5% and 25% frequency respectively. All our patients, 100% had their first symptom after childbirth, functional signs were dominated by dyspnea of effort present in 100% of patients, followed cough (40%) and chest pain (27.5%). On physical examination there was Tachycardia in 82.5%, Galop B3 (45%) and auscultatory arrhythmia in 5%. Signs of pulmonary condensation (82.5%) and pleural fluid effusion (25%). Hepatomegaly was present in 72.5% of patients. It was overall heart failure in 72.5% of cases. On the electrocardiogram there was sinus tachycardia (75%) and atrial fibrillation arrhythmia (5%). On cardiac Doppler ultrasound the left ventricle was dilated with a low systolic ejection fraction in 100% of patients, the four cavities were dilated in 32.5%, a left intraventricular thrombus in 7.5% of cases and a pericardial fluid effusion in 5% of cases. Objective: The work aimed to describe the etiological and evolutionary aspects of cardiogenic shock in the intensive care unit of the cardiology department (USIC) of the G-spot hospital in Bamako, Mali. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019 that included all patients admitted to the USIC during this period. Each patient benefited from individual data support with systematic recording of socio-demographic, clinical, complementary and therapeutic data and analyzed with the SOFTWARE SPSS 20.0 French version. Results: The study involved 40 patients out of 311 patients hospitalized in USIC, representing a hospital frequency of 12.86%. Males were the most affected (60%) with a sex ratio of 1.50. The modal class was 41 - 60 years with extremes at 18 years and 89 years. Cardiovascular risk factors were dominated by HTA (27.50%), diabetes and tobacco, each with 22.50%. The general signs were tachycardia (90%), oxygen desaturation (77.50%), impregnable blood pressure (62.50%), agitation (52.50%) and an oliguria (70%). At the electrocardiogram the rhythm was sinus (80%), it was an atrial fibrillation (15%), a ventricular tachycardia (10%) and signs of coronary ischemia (necrosis in 35% and ST over shifted in 20% of cases). At cardiac doppler ultrasound,the left ventricle was dilated (50%), the right cavities dilated (30%), segmental kinetic disorder (40%), the left ventricular systolic function (FEVG) impaired (75%) and valve disease (10%). Biology noted hyper-creatinemia (65%), hyper-glycemia (12.50%), anemia and hyponatremia with 20% frequency each. Among etiology, ischemic heart disease accounted for 57.50% followed by pulmonary embolism 20%, dilated valve cardiomyopathy 7.50% and chronic pulmonary heart 2.50%. Experimental evidence of Wolbachia introgressive acquisition between terrestrial isopod subspecies

Wolbachia are the most widespread endosymbiotic bacteria in animals.In many arthropod host species,they manipulate reproduction via several mechanisms that favor their maternal transmission to offspring.Among them,cytoplasmic incompatibility(Cl)promotes the spread of the symbiont by specifically decreasing the fertility of crosses involving infected males and uninfected females,via embryo mortality.These differences in reproductive efficiency may select for the avoidance of incompatible mating,a process called reinforcement,and thus contribute to population divergence.In the terrestrial isopod Porcellio dilatatus,the Wolbachia wPet strain infecting the subspecies P.d.petiti induces unidirectional Cl with uninfected individuals of the subspecies P.d.dilatatus.To study the consequences of Cl on P.d.dilatatus and P.d.petiti hybridization,mitochondrial haplotypes and Wolbachia infection dynamics,we used population cages seeded with different proportions of the 2 subspecies in which we monitored these genetic parameters 5 and 7 years after the initial setup.Analysis of microsatellite markers allowed evaluating the degree of hybridization between individuals of the 2 subspecies.These markers revealed an increase in P.d.dilatatus nuclear genetic signature in all mixed cages,reflecting an asymmetry in hybridization.Hybridization led to the introgressive acquisition of Wolbachia and mitochondrial haplotype from P.d.petiti into nuclear genomes dominated by alleles of P.d.dilatatus.We discuss these results with regards to Wolbachia effects on their host(Cl and putative fitness cost),and to a possible reinforcement that may have led to assortative mating,as possible factors contributing to the observed results.

Parametric instability of a liquid metal sessile drop under the action of low-frequency alternating magnetic fields

A 2-D mathematical model is developed in order to simulate a parametric electromagnetic instability oscillation process of a liquid metal droplet under the action of low frequency magnetic field. The Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian （ALE） method and weak form constraint boundary condition are introduced in this model for implementation of the surface tension and electromagnetic force on liquid droplet free surface. The results of the numerical calculations indicate the appearance of various regimes of oscillation. It is found that according to the magnetic field frequency various types of oscillation modes may be found. The oscillation is originated from an instability phenomenon. The stability diagram of liquid metal droplet in the parameter space of magnetic frequency and magnetic flux density is determined numerically. The diagram is very similar to that found in the so-called parametric instability.

本文通过数值建模分析了一种新型的高频行波磁场,用于驱动和搅拌弱导电液体。众所周知电磁搅拌技术在电磁冶金领域存在着广泛的应用,如合金凝固均质化、增强CET过程细化晶粒组织、加强三传过程(传热、传质和动量传输)。通常采用工频或低频的交流电,目前工业应用的电磁搅拌器的工作频率一般小于10 Hz。然而,对于低电导率液体(小于10S/m),电磁场与其耦合效果较弱,可以通过增加电磁搅拌器的工作频率至100kHz以上达到搅拌与加热效果。然而,对于熔融玻璃或氧化物甚至化工领域的电解质溶液、离子液体等液体的搅拌或驱动任务而言,由于其电导率相较于金属液(～10 S/m)低了几个数量级,所产生的洛仑兹力相当弱以至于无法实现电磁搅拌的目的。而这些弱导电液体的驱动或搅拌在相关领域里具有重要意义,如离子液体的催化工艺、晶体生长等。传统的高频磁场主要应用于感应加热,金属熔炼,一般也满足不了上述弱导电液体的电磁搅拌目标,这是因为采用高频磁场虽然可大幅度地增加弱导电液液体的趋肤深度,然而一般的中高频磁场(频率为103-106 Hz,单个线圈,非单匝)不能产生显著的运动磁场定向地驱动弱导电液体。本文介绍了一种高频行波磁场,其工作原理是由单相异步电机的原理发展而来的,采用电容-电感电路,通过配置产生驱动相和感应相双线圈结构,在圆柱体容器周围轴向上形成行波磁场,该磁场能够显著地驱动弱导电液体(～cm/s)。本文的主要工作是建立了一个多场耦合的数值模型,探究关键的操作参数对高频行波磁场的驱动效果。使用数值模拟的方法研究高频电磁搅拌器的线圈电流大小(100 A～900 A)、频率(100 kHz～400kHz)、相位差(0°～180°)以及线圈间距(40mm～120mm)对电导率为50 S/m的液体驱动的影响,从而获得最佳的电气参数配置以及线圈结构为高频电磁搅拌设备优化提供指导方向。模拟计算结果表明:在不考虑热对流影响而只考虑电磁力驱动的情况下液体速度大小的平均值与电流大小成正比,与电流频率成正比,与电流相位差成正弦函数关系,而线圈间距变化对液体速度大小的平均值无影响。

Cardiovascular complications during hyperthyroidism are dominated by arrhythmias, heart failure and coronary heart disease. Pericardial effusion which is a common complication of hypothyroidism is extremely rare in hyperthyroidism. We report the case of a 45-year-old woman admitted for management of pleuro-pericarditis associated with atrial fibrillation in the context of cardiothyreosis. The treatment consisted of a pericardial puncture associated with synthetic anti-thyroid drugs and anti-tuberculosis drugs with positive clinical and echocardiographic outcomes.

Comparison of Prognostic Scores for Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding in the Hepato-Gastro-Enterology Department of Campus Teaching Hospital of Lome

Objective: To evaluate and compare the prognostic contribution of different UGIB prognostic scores. Patients and Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective collection conducted from January 2014 to December 2019. Patients hospitalized in the Gastroenterology Department of Campus Teaching Hospital of Lome for upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage were included. The analytical component of this study had consisted of an evaluation of the sensitivity and specificity of different prognostic scores (GBS, mGBS, FRS, CRS, AIMS65) in predicting the occurrence of death and/or re-bleeding within 42 days. These different scores were compared using ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) curves. Results: We included 314 patients in our study. The male to female sex ratio was 2.48. Fibroscopy found non-related portal hypertension UGIB in 70.94% of the cases. The “FRS” was the most accurate score in predicting death or re-bleeding in all patients. The “FRS” was the most precise score in predicting the occurrence of spotting in all patients. The “FRS” was the most accurate score in predicting death among all patients. The mortality of patients at low risk of death (below the threshold value) was 2.2% for the “FRS”, 9.3% for the “CRS”, 0% for the “GBS” (p = 0.565), 50% for the “mGBS” and 11.4% for the “AIMS65”. Scores were more accurate for non-related portal hypertension UGIB. Conclusion: The “FRS” and the “CRS” are two precise scores in predicting the occurrence of an incident in the event of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. However, these scores were less effective in related portal hypertension UGIB.

The untreated effluents generated by hospital activities contribute to the dissemination of pathogenic germs and multi-resistant bacteria, thus presenting a great potential danger for health and the environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the microbiological and physico-chemical quality of the effluents of the Yaoundé University Hospital Centre and their impact on the environment. It was a prospective and analytical study on three sites where hospital effluents from the intensive care unit (Station A), the upstream of the wastewater treatment plant (Station B), and the gynaecology, surgery and hospitalisation departments (Station C) were sampled. Samples were collected in sterile glass bottles for bacteriological analyses and polyethylene bottles for physico-chemical analyses. The bacteriological parameters measured showed that the density of the bacterial species sought was very high at Station B with a predominance of the species Escherichia coli (57.36%). At Station A, total coliforms were very abundant (50.12%) and at Station C, the genus Pseudomonas was predominant (14.69%). Bacteria of the genus Streptococcus were represented by three species, namely: Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The Pseudomonas genus was also represented by 3 species, namely Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas maltophilia and Pseudomonas putida. The physico-chemical parameters showed that apart from temperature and conductivity, which were in compliance with the standards, the other had values higher than these standards. This study shows that untreated hospital effluent contains most of the bacteria involved in community, nosocomial infections and would be a potential source of risk to the surrounding population.

Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is one of the forms of hypertensive diseases that occur during pregnancy. Early-onset preeclampsia (EOP), which occurred before 34 weeks, proved to be the deadliest. Indeed, it is characterized by a poor maternal and fetal prognosis. EOP has a disparate incidence in the world varying between 0.9% and 31%. Several risks factors are associated with the occurrence of EOP, which is responsible of several adverse obstetrical outcomes. Complications can affect up to 85% of pregnant women with EOP, especially when EOP appears very early, before 28 or even 25 weeks’ gestation. Objectives: To determine frequency of EOP at the University Clinics of Kinshasa, to describe sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of pregnant women with EOP and to identify its risks factors and its association adverse obstetrical outcomes. Methods: The study will be a cross-sectional analytical study in University Clinics of Kinshasa from January 2016 to December 2022. The minimal size will be 119. Our study population will consist of pregnant women who consult for antenatal best care and are neonates in our Clinic. Result will be presented as percentage proportion. Comparison and proportion means between groups will be made using Student’s test and Pearson’s chi-square test, respectively. Our test will be statistically significant for a p-value ≤ than less 0.05. Data will be collected and analysed anonymously and confidentiality. Conclusion: We believe that our study should enable us to identify profile of gestational carriers at risk of EOP in our environment, as well as prognosis associated with this entity, with a view to arousing particular interest in EOP.
