Reclamation during oasification is conducive to the accumulation of the soil organic carbon pool in arid land

Soil organic carbon(SOC)and its stable isotope composition reflect key information about the carbon cycle in *** of carbon fractions in oasis continuous cotton-cropped fields can elucidate the SOC stability mechanism under the action of the human-land relationship during the oasification of arid land,which is critical for understanding the carbon dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems in arid lands under global climate *** this study,we investigated the Alar Reclamation Area on the northern edge of the Tarim Basin,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China,in *** original desert and oasis farmlands with different reclamation years,including 6,10,18,and 30 a,and different soil depths(0-20,20-40,40-60 cm),we analyzed the variations in SOC,very liable carbon(C_(VL)),liable carbon(C_(L)),less liable carbon(C_(LL)),and non-liable carbon(C_(NL))using the method of spatial *** differences in the stable carbon isotope ratio(δ^(13)C)and beta(β)values reflecting the organic carbon decomposition rate were also determined during *** redundancy analysis,we derived and discussed the relationships among SOC,carbon fractions,δ^(13)C,and other soil physicochemical properties,such as the soil water content(SWC),bulk density(BD),pH,total salt(TS),total nitrogen(TN),available phosphorus(AP),and available potassium(AK).The results showed that there were significant differences in SOC and carbon fractions of oasis farmlands with different reclamation years,and the highest SOC was observed at the oasis farmland with 30-a reclamation year.C_(VL),C_(L),C_(LL),and C_(NL) showed significant changes among oasis farmlands with different reclamation years,and C_(VL) had the largest variation range(0.40-4.92 g/kg)and accounted for the largest proportion in the organic carbon *** proportion of C_(NL) in the organic carbon pool of the topsoil(0-20 cm)gradually increased.δ^(13)C varied from-25.61‰to-22.58‰,with the topsoil showing the most positive va

In an organic Rankine cycle(ORC)system,the working fluid pump plays an important role in the system *** paper focused on the operating characteristics of a multistage centrifugal pump at various speeds and condensation *** experimental investigation was carried out to assess the influence of the performance of the pump by the ORC system with special attention to actual net power output,thermal efficiency as well as back work ratio(BWR).The results showed that an increase in the pump speed led to an increase in the mass flow rate and expand in the operating range of the outlet *** mass flow rate decreased nonlinearly with the increase of the outlet pressure from 0.22 to 2.41 MPa;the electric power consumption changed between 151.54 and 2409.34 W and the mechanical efficiency of the pump changed from 7.90%to 61.88%when the pump speed varied from 1160 to 2900 r/***,at lower pump specific speed the ORC system achieved higher thermal efficiency,which suggested that an ultra-low specific speed pump was a promising candidate for an ORC *** results also suggested that the effects of condensation conditions on the pump performance decreased with the pump speed increasing and BWR was relatively sensitive to the condensation conditions,especially at low pump speed.

The overuse of antibiotics has accelerated the emergence of resistant bacteria， posing critical threats to food safety and public health. This challenge underscores the urgent need for alternative strategies， such as antivirulence therapy， which disarms pathogens by targeting virulence factors rather than inhibiting bacterial growth. In this study， we identified farrerol， a flavonoid， as a potent inhibitor of the caseinolytic peptidase P （ClpP） protease， a key virulence regulator in Staphylococcus aureus， with an IC50of 19.33 μg/mL. Farrerol significantly disrupts virulence factor secretion and reduces pathogenicity， demonstrating its potential to control Staphylococcus aureus-induced foodborne illnesses. Mechanistic studies using fluorescence resonance energy transfer （FRET）， thermal shift assay （TSA）， cellular thermal shift assay （CETSA）， fluorescence quenching， and molecular docking revealed that farrerol interacts with ClpP via key residues （GLY-127， GLN-132， and ASP-170）. In vivo， farrerol reduced the bacterial load and improved survival in a Galleria mellonella infection model. Our findings demonstrate that farrerol is an effective antivirulence agent， offering an innovative approach for the food industry to control Staphylococcus aureus-induced foodborne infections. This approach holds great potential for enhancing food safety and mitigating antibiotic resistance.

The dependence on outer light source strongly hinders clinical applications of photodynamic therapy(PDT)to the deep-seated ***,the majority of documented PDT systems that function without the external light source rely on either the chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer(CRET)or fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET)mechanism,which decreases the energy transfer efficiency and reproducibility of ***,we developed a novel single-molecule triplet photosensitizer(iodoBodipy(IBDP)-L)that can be chemiexcited to triplet excited state to generate reactive oxygen species instead of outer light *** direct bonding of phthalhydrazid moiety to iodoBodipy fluorophore evoked valid intramolecular energy transfer(IET),and once phthalhydrazid part is activated by hydrogen peroxide,the released reaction energy could excite the iodoBodipy-phthalhydrazid conjugate as a *** product IBDP-L-COOH showed high triplet state quantum yield(ΦT=65%)and large spin-orbit coupling.A large amount of reactive oxygen species(ROS)was produced in MCF-7 cells,thus inhibiting the cell growth both in vitro and in vivo after IBDP-L was formulated into nanoparticles(NPs)via *** believe that the synthesized IodoBodipy-phthalhydrazid conjugate based on the IET mechanism will open a new door in the molecular design of efficient triplet photosensitizers for treating deeply seated tumors in the future.
