Predicting bathymetry based on vertical gravity gradient anomaly and analyses for various influential factors

The prediction of bathymetry has advanced significantly with the development of satellite altimetry.However, the majority of its data originate from marine gravity anomaly. In this study, based on the expression of vertical gravity gradient(VGG) of a rectangular prism, the governing equations for determining sea depths to invert bathymetry. The governing equation is solved by linearization through an iterative process, and numerical simulations verify its algorithm and its stability. We also study the processing methods of different interference errors. The regularization method improves the stability of the inversion process for errors. A piecewise bilinear interpolation function roughly replaces the lowfrequency error, and numerical simulations show that the accuracy can be improved by 41.2 % after this treatment. For variable ocean crust density, simulation simulations verify that the root-mean-square(RMS) error of prediction is approximately 5 m for the sea depth of 6 km if density is chosen as the average one. Finally, two test regions in the South China Sea are predicted and compared with ship soundings data, RMS errors of predictions are 71.1 m and 91.4 m, respectively.

Atohl is essential for the development of both outer hair cells(OHCs) and inner hair cells(IHCs) in the mammalian co chlea.Whereas Ikzf2 is necessary for OHC development,the key gene re quired for IHC development remains unknown.We found that deletion of Tbx2 in neonatal IHCs led to their transdifferentiation into OHCs by repressing 26.7% of IHC genes and inducing 56.3% of OHC genes,including Ikzf2.More importantly,persistent expression of Tbx2 coupled with transient Atohl expression effe ctively reprogrammed non-sensory supporting cells into new IHCs expressing the functional IHC marker vGlut3.The differentiation status of these new IHCs was considerably more advanced than that previously reported.Thus,Tbx2 is essential for IHC development and co-upregulation of Tbx2 with Atohl in supporting cells represents a new approach for treating deafness related to IHC degeneration.

Lipid droplets(LDs) are a neutral lipid storage organelle that is conserved in almost all species. Excessive storage of neutral lipids in LDs is directly associated with many metabolic syndromes. Zebrafish is a better model animal for the study of LD biology due to its transparent embryonic stage compared to other organisms. However, the study of LDs in fish has been difficult due to the lack of specific LD marker proteins and the limitation of purification technology. In this paper, the purification and proteomic analysis of liver LDs of fish including zebrafish and Carassius auratus were performed for the first time. 259 and 267 proteins were identified respectively. Besides most of the identified proteins were reported in previous LD proteomes of mammals, indicating the similarity between mammal and fish LDs. We also identified many unique proteins of liver LDs in fish that are involved in the regulation of LD dynamics. Through morphological and biochemical analysis, we found that the marker protein Plin2 of zebrafish LD was located on LDs in Huh7 cells. These results will facilitate further study of LDs in fish and liver metabolic diseases using fish as a model animal.

The exploration of the way"mass entrepreneurship and innovation"(MEI)education influences students'aspirations to become entrepreneurs has grown into an important area of analysis in studies related to higher education.This research intends to examine the consequences of MEI education on students'tendency towards entrepreneurship,and to put forward methods for augmenting the teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship in private higher educational establishments.To achieve this objective,questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were employed in the study,which involved a total of 197 students and five education experts.The statistical analysis of the questionnaire data revealed that MEI education was positively related to students'entrepreneurial intentions,and that both entrepreneurial experience and family entrepreneurial background played moderating roles in this relationship.The interview findings indicated that private universities could enhance educational reforms by designing talent training programs,developing diversified curricula,and developing more professional entrepreneurial platforms to encourage students'entrepreneurial intentions.This study offers fresh insights for improving and perfecting the mechanism of innovation and entrepreneurship education in private universities.

The ent-kaurenoids(e.g.,oridonin and enmein)from the Isodon genus(Lamiaceae)are one class of diterpenoids with rich structural diversity and intriguing pharmaceutical activity.In contrast to the well-established gibberellin pathway,oxidative modifications diversifying the ent-kaurene skeleton in Isodon have remained undetermined for half a century.Here we report a chromosome-level genome assembly of I.rubescens,a well-recognized oridonin producer long favored by Asian people as a traditional herb with antitumor effects.The shoot apex was confirmed to be the actual region actively producing ent-kaurene diterpenoids.Through comparative genomics and phylogenetic analyses,we discovered a cluster of tandem-duplicated CYP706V oxygenase-encoding genes located on an ancient genomic block widely distributed in eudicots,whereas almost exclusively emerged in Isodon plants.In the shoot apex,IrCYP706V2 and IrCYP706V7 oxidized the ent-kaurene core in the initial stage of oridonin biosynthesis.Loss of CYP706Vs in other Lamiaceae plants offered an explanation for the specific kaurenoid production in Isodon plants.Moreover,we found that the Isodon genomes encode multiple diterpenoid synthases that are potentially involved in generating diterpenoid diversity.These findings provided new insights into the evolution of the lineage-specific diterpenoid pathway and laid a foundation for improving production of bioactive ent-kaurene-type diterpenoids by molecular breeding and synthetic biology approaches.

Aerosol size distributions during haze episodes in winter in Jinan, China

Number concentrations and distributions of 10-10,000 nm particles in a large city （Jinan） in the North China Plain were measured in winter 2009. The mean number concentrations of nucleation mode （10-20 nm）, Aitken mode （20-100 nm）, and accumulation mode （100-1000 nm） particles, as well as total particles were 925, 6898, 2476, and 10,299cm-3, respectively. Two severe haze episodes, with elevated concentrations caused by pollutants accumulating, were observed. Accumulation mode particle concen- trations were significantly higher during the episodes than on clear days, and nucleation mode particle concentrations were pronouncedly higher on clear days than during the episodes. The peaks of domi- nant number, surface area, and mass size distributions were around 30-50, 200-300, and 200-400 rim, respectively, both during the haze episodes and on clear days, but elevated mass and surface area con- centrations around 500-600 nm were also observed during the haze episodes, suggesting these particles had significant contributions to haze formation. These particles were probably formed through larger droplets in cloud and fog evaporating. Two new particle formation events, probably triggered by strong photochemical processes on clear days and significant traffic emissions during haze episode 2, were found. Significant insights were made into haze formation in a oolluted Chinese urban area.

The advancement of flexible electronics demands improved components,necessitating heat dissipation membranes(HDMs)to exhibit high thermal conductivity while maintaining structural integrity and performance stability even after extensive deformation.Herein,we have devised a laser-modulated reduction technique for graphene oxide(GO),enabling the fabrication of high-quality,large-scale,lowdefect graphene,which yields high-performance HDMs after orderly deposition.The work underscores the crucial role of the laser wavelength and dispersion liquid's coupling intensity in influencing the morphology and properties of graphene.Optimal coupling effect and energy conversion are realized when a laser of 1064 nm wavelength irradiates a triethylene glycol(TEG)/N,N-Dimethylformamide(DMF)dispersion.This unique synergy generates high transient energy,which facilitates the deprotonation process and ensures a swift,comprehensive GO reduction.In contrast to conventional water-based laser reduction methods,the accelerated reaction magnifies the size of the graphene sheets by mitigating the ablation effect.After membrane construction with an ordered structure,the corresponding membrane exhibits a high thermal conductivity of 1632 W m^(-1)K^(-1),requiring only~1/10 of the total preparation time required by other reported methods.Remarkably,the resulting HDM demonstrates superior resilience against creasing and folding,maintaining excellent smoothness and negligible reduction in thermal conductivity after violent rubbing.The combination of exceptional flexibility and thermal conductivity in HDMs paves the way for long-term practical use in the flexible electronics industry.

Diterpene glycosyltransferase UGT76G1 from Stevia rebaudiana (SrUGT76G1) is key to the generation ofeconomically important steviol glycosides (SGs), a group of natural sweeteners with high-intensity sweetness. SrUGT76G1 accommodates a wide range of steviol-derived substrates and many other small molecules. We report here the crystal structures of SrUGT76G1 in complex with multiple ligands to answer howthis enzyme recognizes diterpenoid aglycones and catalyzes the 1,3-sugar chain branching. A spaciouspocket for sugar-acceptor binding was observed from the determined SrUGT76G1 structures, which canexplain its broad substrate spectrum. Residues Gly87 and Leu204 lining the pocket play key roles in switching between diterpenoid and flavonoid glucosylation. An engineered mutant of SrUGT76G1, T284S, couldcatalyze a selectively increased production of next-generation sweetener rebaudioside M, with diminishedside product of rebaudioside I. Taken together, these resutls provide significant insights into molecularbasis of the substrate specificity of scarcely documented diterpenoid glycosyltransferases and wouldfacilitate the structure-guided glycoengineering to produce diversified diterpenoids with new activities.

The so-called "green ship" is being regarded as a potential solution to the problems that the shipping industry faces, such as energy conservation and environmental protection. Some new features, such as integrated renewable energy application, biomimetic materials, and antifriction and wear resistant coating have been accepted as the typical characteristics of a green ship, but the tribology problems involved in these domains have not been precisely redefined yet. Further, the related research work is generally focused on the technology or material itself, but not on the integration of the applicable object or green ship, marine environment, and tribological systematical analysis from the viewpoint of the energy efficiency design index(EEDI) and ship energy efficiency management plan(SEEMP) improvements. Aiming at the tribology problems of the green ship, this paper reviews the research status of this issue from three specific domains, which are the tribology problems of the renewable energy system, tribological research for hull resistance reduction, and energy efficiency enhancement. Some typical tribological problems in the sail-auxiliary system are discussed, along with the solar photovoltaic system and hull drag reduction in traditional marine mechanical equipment. Correspondingly, four domains that should be further considered for the future development target of the green ship are prospected.
