Gold nanoparticles recently showed great interest for many uses including food, drug and medical applications. The algae Undaria sp. well known as wakame in South Asia are considered to be large edible brown algae. It provides nutritious source of dietary fiber, vitamin Bs and mineral. The present study aimed to investigate the use of Undaria sp. for green synthesis of metallic gold nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized for physicochemical properties including size measurement and tested in vitro for their effect on viability of human non-small lung cancer H-460 cell line using the MTT assay. From the results, brown algae were able to chemically form nanoparticles with chloroauric acid solution possibly due to the sulphated polysaccharides found in algae. The particle sizes were found to be approximately 10 nm. The gold nanoparticles stabilized by the algae could decrease the cancer cell viability. However, the properties and biological activity of nanoparticles seemed to depend upon reaction time and temperature. Conclusively, gold nanoparticles synthesized and stabilized by the algae could decrease the cancer cell viability, thus indicating the potential of such nanoparticles for further study for anticancer activity.

Characterization and Biodegradation Studies for Interpenetrating Polymeric Network (IPN) of Chitosan-Amino Acid Beads

The paper describes the synthesis of pH sensitive interpenetrating polymeric network (IPN) beads composed of chi-tosan, glycine, glutamic acid, cross linked with glutaraldehyde and their use for controlled drug release. The drug was loaded into beads by varying their composition such as, amount of crosslinker glutaraldehyde, ratio of chitosan, glycine and glutamic acid. The beads were characterized by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to confirm the cross linking reaction and drug interaction with crosslinked polymer in beads, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to understand the surface morphology and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to find out the thermal stability of beads. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) investigation was carried out to determine the crystalline nature of drug after loading into chitosan-glycine-glutamic acid IPN beads. Results indicated amorphous dispersion of chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) in the polymeric matrix. The swelling behavior of the beads at different time intervals was monitored in solutions of pH 2.0 and pH 7.4. The release experiments were performed in solutions of pH 2.0 and pH 7.4 at 37oC using chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) as a model drug. The swelling behavior and release of drug were observed to be dependent on pH, degree of cross linking and their composition. The results indicate that the cross linked IPN beads of chitosan-glycine-glutamic acid might be useful as a vehicle for controlled release of drug. The kinetics of drug release from beads was best fitted by Higuchi’s model in which release rate is largely governed by rate of diffusion through the matrix.

During the last decade,there has been rapid adoption of ground and aerial platforms with multiple sensors for phenotyping various biotic and abiotic stresses throughout the developmental stages of the crop *** throughput phenotyping(HTP)involves the application of these tools to phenotype the plants and can vary from ground-based imaging to aerial phenotyping to remote *** of these HTP tools has tried to reduce the phenotyping bottleneck in breeding programs and help to increase the pace of genetic *** specifically,several root phenotyping tools are discussed to study the plant’s hidden half and an area long ***,the use of these HTP technologies produces big data sets that impede the inference from those *** learning and deep learning provide an alternative opportunity for the extraction of useful information for making *** are interdisciplinary approaches for data analysis using probability,statistics,classification,regression,decision theory,data visualization,and neural networks to relate information extracted with the phenotypes *** techniques use feature extraction,identification,classification,and prediction criteria to identify pertinent data for use in plant breeding and pathology *** review focuses on the recent findings where machine learning and deep learning approaches have been used for plant stress phenotyping with data being collected using various HTP *** have provided a comprehensive overview of different machine learning and deep learning tools available with their potential advantages and ***,this review provides an avenue for studying various HTP platforms with particular emphasis on using the machine learning and deep learning tools for drawing legitimate ***,we propose the conceptual challenges being faced and provide insights on future perspectives for managing those issues.

Development and Validation of New RP-HPLC Method for the Estimation of Alfuzosin Hydrochloride in Bulk and Tablet Dosage Form

A reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method (HPLC) has been developed for the estimation of Alfuzosin hydrochloride (ALH) in the pharmaceutical formulation using RP-C18 column. The mobile phase (Tetrahydrofuran, Acetonitrile and buffer (pH 3.50) was pumped at a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min in the ratio of 1:20:80 and the eluents were monitored at 254.0 nm. Linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 80 - 120 μg/mL for ALH. The method was statistically validated and RSD was found to be less than 2% indicating high degree of accuracy and precision of the proposed HPLC method. Due to its simplicity, rapidness, high precision and accuracy, the proposed HPLC method may be used for determination of Alfuzosin hydrochloride in bulk drugs and in pharmaceutical dosage form.

目的：通过影像学测量观察,探讨经皮椎间孔内镜手术入路与椎间孔、神经根及邻近组织的解剖学关系,为临床应用提供参考。方法回顾性分析2011年1月—2015年1月在天津市天津医院行腰椎影像学检查的患者影像资料,按脊柱序列正常、无畸形、无移行椎的要求共纳入100例正常腰椎的横断面 MRI 资料和100例正常腰椎正侧位 X 线图像资料。选取 L2/3~ L5/ S1节段椎间盘上下缘两个层面的 MRI 横断面图像的,分别测量椎间盘上、下缘的椎间孔宽度最小值（Gs、Gi）、神经根-椎间盘距离（Hs、Hi）、神经根-关节突距离（Is、Ii）和入路靶角（Js°、Ji°）。选取 L4/5和 L5/ S1节段正侧位 X 线图像,分别从正位和侧位测量分析髂脊-椎间盘距离（Qa、Qb）和入路靶角（Ra°、Rb°）。结果 MRI 横断面图像资料分析显示 Gs 均〉 Gi,其中 L4/5节段 Gi 最小[（2.72±1.40） mm],L2/3节段 Gs 最大[（5.16±1.53） mm]。神经根-椎间盘距离从头端向尾端逐渐减小,并且在椎间盘下缘层面距离最近。 L2/3和 L3/4节段神经根位于椎间盘的背侧；而在 L4/5和 L5/ S1节段,神经根位于椎间盘的腹侧。 Is 〈 Ii,其中 L4/5节段 Is 最近[（-2.55±4.94） mm], L5/ S1节段 Ii 最远[（-8.23±11.11） mm]。椎间盘上、下缘横断面入路靶角从头端向尾端逐渐减小。 L2/3和 L3/4节段 Js°〉 Ji°；L4/5和 L5/ S1节段Js°〈 Ji°。正侧位 X 线图像分析显示 L4/5节段位置与髂脊约处于同一高度,L5/ S1节段靶角明显大于 L4/5节段。结论下腰椎（L4/5和 L5/ S1）椎间孔变小、神经根与椎间盘更近、入路靶角变大变陡,手术入路更复杂、难度更大；行经皮椎间孔镜手术时需采用环锯扩大椎间孔,使工作通道充分进入椎管内,减小神经根损伤的风险。
