Adult lung is a highly quiescent organ,with extremely low cell turnover frequency.However,emerging evidences support the occurrence of repair and regeneration in pulmonary epithelia in response to various injuries.Lung regeneration mainly depends on the proliferation of regionally distributed pulmonary stem cells that re-enter the cell cycle.Genetic lineage-tracing approaches help to track the lung epithelial differentiation and/or de-differentiation path,and single-cell transcriptomic technique reveals the essential molecular signaling involved in lung regeneration.Dysregulation of the molecular signaling that balances quiescence and self-renewal leads to the transformation of lung stem cells,and thus promotes lung cancer development.Interestingly,different subtypes of lung cancer share common cells of origin and the pathological transition among various subtypes is responsible for drug resistance in the clinic.In this review,we summarize the recent understanding of lung stem cells in regeneration and tumorigenesis as well as related molecular mechanisms,with the hope to provide helpful insights for clinical treatments of respiratory diseases.

Wear Resistance Improvement of Keeled Structure and Overlapped Distribution of Snake Scales

The movement mode of snakes is crawling,and the living environment of snakes with numerous branches and stones will cause plenty of wear for the snake scales.There are plenty of surface structures and morphology on snake scales to avoid severe wear.Among them,the research towards the keeled structure on snake scales is missing.Therefore,in this research,the wear resistance improvement of the keeled structure on the snake scales and the overlapped distribution of snake scales are investigated.The keeled and smooth snake scales were 3D printed and they were distributed on the substrate in the overlapped or paralleled ways.Besides these four samples with keeled/smooth scales and overlapped/paralleled distributed,there is also a reference sample with the same thickness.Based on the tribology test,the number of grooves of samples with the keeled structures is higher than that of samples with smooth surfaces,which indicates that the keeled structure dramatically enhances the wear resistance of snake scales,especially during the wear in the vertical direction.The experiment on surface morphology greatly compromised the result of the tribology test.In addition,the bottom portion of the keeled snake scales can be protected by the keeled structure.Besides,the overlapped distribution can protect the central region of snake scales and provide double-layer protection of the snake body.Overall,the keeled structure and the overlapped distribution play a significant part in the improvement of wear resistance of the snake skin.These findings can enhance the knowledge of the reptiles-mimic surface structure and facilitate the application of military uniforms under high-wear conditions.

For symmetric tensors,computing generalized eigenvalues is equivalent to a homogenous polynomial optimization over the unit sphere.In this paper,we present an adaptive trustregion method for generalized eigenvalues of symmetric tensors.One of the features is that the trust-region radius is automatically updated by the adaptive technique to improve the algorithm performance.The other one is that a projection scheme is used to ensure the feasibility of all iteratives.Global convergence and local quadratic convergence of our algorithm are established,respectively.The preliminary numerical results show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Points-to analysis is a static code analysis tech- nique that establishes the relationships between variables of references and allocated objects. A number of points-to analysis algorithms have been proposed for procedural and object-oriented languages like C and Java, while few of them can be used for AspectJ as we know so far. One main rea- son is that Aspect/is an aspect-oriented language which im- plements the separation of crosscutting concerns by advices, pointcuts, and inter-type declarations, while a points-to anal- ysis of AspectJ programs may be imprecise because any as- pect woven into the base code may change the points-to rela- tions in the program and thus a conservative analysis has to be taken in order to handle the aspects. In this paper, we pro- pose a context-sensitive points-to analysis technique called AJPoints for AspectJ. Similar to the weaving mechanism for AspectJ, AJPoints obtains the constraints and templates on the points-to relations for the base code and the aspects, re- spectively, but weaves and solves them in an iterative manner in order to cross the boundary between the base code and the aspects. We have implemented AJPoints on abc AspectJ compiler and evaluated it by using twelve AspectJ benchmark programs. A promising scheme for coal-fired power plants in which biomass co-firing and carbon dioxide capture technologies are adopted and the low-temperature waste heat from the CO_(2) capture process is recycled to heat the condensed water to achieve zero carbon emission is proposed in this paper.Based on a 660 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant,the thermal performance,emission performance,and economic performance of the proposed scheme are evaluated.In addition,a sensitivity analysis is conducted to show the effects of several key parameters on the performance of the proposed system.The results show that when the biomass mass mixing ratio is 15.40%and the CO_(2) capture rate is 90%,the CO_(2) emission of the coal-fired power plant can reach zero,indicating that the technical route proposed in this paper can indeed achieve zero carbon emission in coal-fired power plants.The net thermal efficiency decreases by 10.31%,due to the huge energy consumption of the CO_(2) capture unit.Besides,the cost of electricity(COE)and the cost of CO_(2) avoided(COA)of the proposed system are 80.37/MWhand41.63/tCO_(2),respectively.The sensitivity analysis demonstrates that with the energy consumption of the reboiler decreasing from 3.22 GJ/tCO_(2) to 2.40 GJ/tCO_(2),the efficiency penalty is reduced to 8.67%.This paper may provide reference for promoting the early realization of carbon neutrality in the power generation industry.

High-temperature pyrolysis technology can effectively solve the problem of municipal solid waste pollution.However,the pyrolysis gas contains a large amount of CO_(2),which would adversely affect the subsequent utilization.To address this problem,a novel method of co-precipitation modification with Ca,Mg and Zr metals was proposed to improve the CO_(2)capture performance.X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis showed that the two inert supports MgO and CaZrO_(3)were uniformly distributed in the modified calcium-based sorbents.In addition,the XRD results indicated that CaZrO_(3)was produced by the reaction of ZrO_(2)and CaO at high temperatures.The effects of doping ratios,adsorption temperature,calcination temperature,CO_(2)concentration and calcination atmosphere on the adsorption capacity and cycle stability of the modified calcium-based sorbent were studied.The modified calcium-based sorbent achieved the best CO_(2)capture performance when the doping ratio was 10:1:1 with carbonation at 700℃ under 20%CO_(2)/80%N_(2)atmosphere and calcination at 900℃ under100%N_(2)atmosphere.After ten cycles,the average carbonation conversion rate of Ca-10 sorbent was 72%.Finally,the modified calcium-based sorbents successfully reduced the CO_(2)concentration of the pyrolysis gas from 37%to 5%.

Integrating Manifold Knowledge for Global Entity Linking with Heterogeneous Graphs

Entity Linking(EL)aims to automatically link the mentions in unstructured documents to corresponding entities in a knowledge base(KB),which has recently been dominated by global models.Although many global EL methods attempt to model the topical coherence among all linked entities,most of them failed in exploiting the correlations among manifold knowledge helpful for linking,such as the semantics of mentions and their candidates,the neighborhood information of candidate entities in KB and the fine-grained type information of entities.As we will show in the paper,interactions among these types of information are very useful for better characterizing the topic features of entities and more accurately estimating the topical coherence among all the referred entities within the same document.In this paper,we present a novel HEterogeneous Graph-based Entity Linker(HEGEL)for global entity linking,which builds an informative heterogeneous graph for every document to collect various linking clues.Then HEGEL utilizes a novel heterogeneous graph neural network(HGNN)to integrate the different types of manifold information and model the interactions among them.Experiments on the standard benchmark datasets demonstrate that HEGEL can well capture the global coherence and outperforms the prior state-of-the-art EL methods.

Solar photocatalysis,as a method of green energy production and sustainable technology,has been regarded as one of the most effective strategies to resolve environmental issues and the current energy crisis.In this work,intimate contact hollow Ni_(x)Co_(1-x)S polyhedron/g-C3N4 nanosheet composites were prepared in-situ through a facile one-step hydrothermal method.The as-prepared Ni_(x)Co_(1-x)S/g-C_(3)N_(4) composites showed superior photocatalytic activity and high stability for H2 generation and methyl orange(MO)degradation under visible light irradiation.The optimized 4 wt.%Ni_(x)Co_(1-x)S/g-C_(3)N_(4) composite attained a maximum H2 evolution rate of 1420μmol g^–1 h^–1,which was about 157 times higher than that of pure g-C3N4.In addition,the Ni_(x)Co_(1-x)S/g-C_(3)N_(4) composite also exhibited greatly improved photocatalytic activity for dye degradation,which for MO was at 98.14%in 9 min.The outstanding photocatalytic performance was predominantly attributed to the unique architecture of hollow Ni_(x)Co_(1-x)S polyhedrons,which not only provided more active sites at the edges and surface as convenient charge transfer channels,but also promoted the separation and transport of electron-hole pairs.This work provides some novel ideas for the design and development of highly efficient noble metal-free cocatalyst/semiconductor systems for photocatalytic H2 generation and dye degradation.

A case of migraine misdiagnosed as epilepsy

Background:Migraine and epilepsy are both episodic disorders,with some overlapping symptoms,mechanisms and therapies.Clinically,there is a comorbid relationship between them.Some migraine patients may exhibit epileptic discharges by electroencephalogram(EEG)recording.Therefore,the two conditions are easily misdiagnosed.Case presentation:We reported a 16-year-old female patient who was admitted to our hospital due to repeated headaches with disturbance of consciousness.Epileptic discharge was recorded by long-term EEG.The patient had been misdiagnosed as epilepsy,and had no response to anti-seizure medicines(ASMs).We revised her diagnosis and prescribed ibuprofen in her acute episode and prophylactic medicine,including funarizine and amitriptyline in her interictal period.One week later,her headache disappeared.Conclusions:This patient manifested with altered levels of consciousness during headache episodes,and the abnormal EEG results lead to the misdiagnosis as epilepsy.Clinicians should be cautious to the distinction between migraine and epilepsy.
