We evaluated the geno.ypes o. the sero.o.in transpo.ter gene （5-HTT） in patients with premature ejaculatio. （PE） to.determine the ro.e o. genetic facto.s in the etio.atho.enesis o. PE and po.sibly to.identify the patient subgro.ps. A to.al o. 70 PE patients and 70 co.tro.s were included in this study. All men were hetero.exual, had no.o.her diso.ders and were either married o. in a stable relatio.ship. PE was defined as ejaculatio. that o.curred within 1 min o. vaginal intro.issio.. Geno.ic DNA fro. patients and co.tro.s was analyzed using po.ymerase chain reactio., and allelic variatio.s o. the pro.o.er regio. o. the sero.o.in transpo.ter gene （5-HTTLPR） were determined. The 5-HTTLPR （sero.o.in transpo.ter pro.o.er gene） geno.ypes in PE patients vs. co.tro.s were distributed as fo.lo.s： L/L 16% vs. 17%, L/S 30% vs. 53% and S/S 54% vs. 28%. We examined the haplo.ype analysis fo. three po.ymo.phisms o. the 5-HTTLPR gene： LL, LS and SS. The appro.riateness o. the allele frequencies in the 5-HTTLPR gene was analyzed by the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium using the Z-test. The sho.t （S） allele o. the 5-HTTLPR gene was significantly mo.e frequent in PE patients than in co.tro.s （P 〈 0.05）. We suggest that the 5-HTTLPR gene plays a ro.e in the patho.hysio.o.y o. all primary PE cases. Further studies are needed to.evaluate the relatio.ship between 5-HTTLPR gene po.ymo.phism and patient subgro.p （such as primary and seco.dary PE） respo.ses to.selective sero.o.in reuptake inhibito.s as well as ethnic differences.

Dear Edito., Burned-o.t tumo.s o. the testis are extremely rare fo.m o.testicular malignancies, and they co.ld disappear o. regress spo.taneo.sly and co.pletely. These tumo.s co.ld be presented by metastatic fo.m in retro.erito.eum, lungs, retro.erito.eal lymph no.es, and liver. In recent studies, differential diagno.is, clinic features, treatment mo.alities and fo.lo.-up o.tco.e o. burned-o.t tumo. fro. primary retro.erito.eal germ cell tumo. are discussed. If patient with retro.erito.eal lymph no.e invo.vement and histo.o.y o. ＂testicular tumo.＂ burned-o.t tumo. o. the testis was suspected.

Dear Edito., We wo.ld like to.present a rare case o.po.yo.chidism. Po.yo.chidism is an unusual abno.mality o. the genital tract and until date, there are appro.imately 178 case repo.ts o. po.yo.chidism in the literature？ Ho.ever, the mo.t o. patients are asympto.atic and usually diagno.ed incidentally. So.e may present as inguinal hernia （30%）, maldescended testis （15% to.30%）, testicular to.sio. （13%） and hydro.ele （9%）, varico.ele （1%）, hypo.padias （〈1%）, ano.alo.s uro.enital unio. （〈1%）, and malignancy （〈1%）.2 Management o. po.yo.chidism is still co.tro.ersial. We co.pare the efficacy o. intratesticular o.o.e therapy with intraperito.eal o.o.e therapy in an experimental rat mo.el. Fo. this purpo.e, 24 rats were divided into.fo.r gro.ps including sham-o.erated, to.sio./deto.sio., to.sio./deto.sio. plus intraperito.eal o.o.e （o.IP）, and to.sio./deto.sio. plus intratesticular o.o.e （o.IT）. The o.IP o.o.e gro.p received a 4 mg kg-1 intraperito.eal injectio. o. o.o.e, and the o.IT gro.p received the same injectio. epididymally. At 4 h after deto.sio., the rats were sacrificed and o.chiecto.y materials were assessed histo.atho.o.ically. Spermato.enesis in the seminifero.s tubules and damage to.the Serto.i cells were histo.atho.o.ically evaluated in the testes using the Jo.nsen sco.ing system, i-No. and e-No. activities in the testis tissue were also.evaluated. To.sio.-deto.sio. caused a decreased Jo.nsen sco.e and increased apo.to.is o. spermato.o.ial and Serto.i cells. o.o.e injectio. prevented increases in Jo.nsen sco.e and i-No. level, e-No. level o. the o.IP gro.p was significantly lo.er than that o. the o.IP gro.p, and i-No. level o. the o.IT gro.p was significantly lo.er than that o. the o.IP gro.p. Lo.al o.o.e therapy is mo.e effective than systemic o.o.e therapy at impro.ing IRI-related testicular to.sio.. o.r study is the first to.sho. that the efficacy o. intratesticular implementatio. o. o.o.e therapy is higher than that o. intraperito.eal o.o.e therapy.
