Decreased Ratios of Interleukin-1<i>β</i>and Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 1 in Gingival Crevicular Fluid after Scaling and Root Planing Associated with Periodontal Pocket Healing

Objectives: Several researchers have investigated inflammatory cytokines in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) from chronic periodontitis with clinical parameters after periodontal treatment. The aim of the present study was to identify the inflammatory cytokines present in GCF associated with periodontal pocket healing after scaling and root planing (SRP). Methods: Twenty patients were enrolled, and clinical examinations including probing pocket depth (PPD) and bleeding on probing (BOP) were performed at the first visit, and before and after SRP. The periodontal epithelial surface area (PESA) and periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA) were also calculated. GCF samples were collected before and after SRP to measure the levels of 40 inflammatory cytokines using antibody array. Correlations between changes in cytokine levels and clinical improvements were assessed by single and multiple regression analyses. Results: PPD, PESA and PISA significantly decreased after SRP, while there were no significant differences in the levels of cytokines before (PreSRP) and one week after SRP (PostSRP). Clinical improvements (ΔPPD, ΔPESA and ΔPISA) were calculated using the formula PreSRP-PostSRP, while changes in the levels of inflammatory cytokines were calculated using three formulas: PreSRP-PostSRP, PostSRP/PreSRP and Log(PostSRP/PreSRP). Log (PostSRP/PreSRP) for interleukin-1β (IL-1β) significantly correlated with ΔPESA (R = -0.512). PostSRP/PreSRP and Log(PostSRP/PreSRP) for intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) significantly correlated with ΔPISA (R = -0.669, -0.573). Two good fit models were generated by multiple linear regression. Log(PostSRP/PreSRP) for IL-1β significantly affected ΔPESA (R2 = 0.566). PostSRP/PreSRP for ICAM-1 significantly affected ΔPISA (R2 = 0.615). Conclusion: Changes (PreSRP-PostSRP) in any cytokines in GCF after SRP were not associated with clinical improvements. Cowpea NAC1/NAC2 transcription factors improve growth and tolerance to drought and heat in transgenic cowpea through combined activation of photosynthetic and antioxidant mechanisms

Genome-wide Association Study Reveals that the Aquaporin NIP1;1 Contributes to Variation in Hydrogen Peroxide Sensitivity in Arabidopsis thaiiana

Hydrogen peroxide （H202） is a reactive oxygen species that affects cell signaling in various plant defense responses and induces programmed cell death. To identify the new components associated with H202 signaling and tolerance, we conducted a genome-wide association study （GWAS） on the root growth of 133 Arabidopsis thaliana accessions grown in the presence of toxic H2O2 levels. The most significant SNPs were associated with a cluster of chromosome 4 genes encoding an aquaporin NODULIN 26-LIKE INTRINSIC PROTEIN 1; 1 （NIP1;1）, an NB-ARC domain-containing disease resistance protein （AT4G19050）, and a putative membrane lipoprotein （AT4G19070）. The expression level of NIP1;1 was relatively high in A. thaliana accessions sensitive to H2O2. Additionally, overexpression of NIP1;1 in a tolerant accession （e.g., Col-0） increased the sensitivity of transgenic plants to H2O2. An in planta β-glucuronidase reporter assay revealed that variations in the NIP1;1 promoter were responsible for the differences of its expression level in H2O2-tolerant and -sensitive accessions. Cell death was extensive and H2O2 levels were high in the roots of H2O2-sensitive and NIP1;1-overexpressing accessions. Together, our results indicate that the aquaporin NIP1;1 is a key determinant of the sensitivity ofA. thaliana to H2O2, and contributes to the phenotypic variations detected by our GWAS.

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety for Atopic Dry Skin of a Medicinal Moisturizing Lotion (Mentholatum AP Soft Medicinal Moisture Lotion) Prepared by a High-Pressure Emulsification Method

In order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Mentholatumò AP Soft Lotion (APA), which is a Vaseline-based preparation that has been converted to nanoparticles by high-pressure emulsification technology, we conducted a study of 4-week continuous use on the atopic dry skin of patients with minor to moderate atopic dermatitis (AD). The results showed that improvements in the skin findings (dryness and scaling) and itching were observed beginning one week after starting to apply APA and that the symptoms had almost completely resolved at 3 to 4 weeks after the start of application. In addition, a significant increase in the degree of high-frequency conductivity, which is an indicator of the amount of moisture in the stratum corneum, and significant decrease in transepidermal water loss (TEWL) were observed, and improvements in skin functions were observed. The results for overall degree of improvement showed “improvement” or better in 100% of the subjects, and no side effects were observed in any of the cases. Based on the above results, it was concluded that APA is a preparation that has excellent efficacy and safety as skin care for atopic dry skin, in which reduced stratum corneum function is observed in the skin, and as a supplemental method of treatment of AD or treatment method to maintain remissions.

In this paper, we deal with a classroom where bullying is occurring and assume that if a number of bystanders who tattle bullying exceeds a threshold, then bullying is stopped. Bystanders’ behaviour is formulated as a non-cooperative game, with negative externality, retaliation cost and reporting cost. Our research shows that to stop bullying, it is useful to raise the cost of negative externality and to reduce the retaliation cost and or the reporting cost. Additionally, it is shown that small class is effective in preventing bullying.

近年来,通过专注于充分利用物联网信息管理资源,创造新顾客价值的企业与提供物联网服务的平台商相继而生。本文重点关注了源于中国的首家开展国际化业务的美格智能并考察通过研发创新的NB-IoT平台创建与NB-IoT商业生态系统的形成。目的是通过作为在全球国际化过程中具有代表性的案例研究,可以获得有关IoT平台和商业生态系统研究领域中的新理论问题的线索。本文主要以美格智能企业为主要调研对象,参考依据当代企业的战略管理学理论,经过对企业发展情况、所面对的外部环境以及企业的内在资源情况等进行了调研,并运用PEST数据分析、SWOT数据分析工具等,对企业外部环境,所面临的机会与危险,对企业内部环境,所面临的优点与劣点等展开了详细剖析。并通过美格智能的财务报表与财务能力对其财务竞争力进行了评估,在此基础上,明确了公司企业国际化转型发展的定位。本文提出美格智能应该采用以SO战略为核心主要,以WO战略、ST战略与WT战略为辅助的战略组合,也就是借用本身的功能优势和外界环境的机遇,加快发展有关NB-IoT工作业务,并且对本身的劣势展开补偿,发展提升为总体规模领先、管理标准规范、经济效益良好的,首屈一指的物联网终端服务商以及无线数据网络的设计方案服务商。最后,“从加强政企合作,创新无线通信的产学研体制机制”、“强化战略联盟,实现抱团出海”、“优化公司组织结构,聚焦主业能力”、“完善人力资源吸纳与培养,强化外籍人才的引入”、“尝试属地管理,加强对境外项目的监督与评估”、“健全投资风险管控体系,及时评估纠偏纠错”等六个构成方面逐渐确定了公司国际化转型发展实行的举措手段,为该企业未来的中长期企业国际化转型发展和“十三五”发展规划的确定,供应了理论参考依据。
