This review updates the present status of the fiel. of mol.cul.r markers and marker-assisted sel.ction(MAS),using the exampl. of drought tol.rance in *** accuracy of sel.cted quantitative trait l.ci(QTl.),candidate genes and suggested markers was assessed in the barl.y genome *** common strategies are described for mol.cul.r marker devel.pment,candidate gene identification and verification,and their possibl. appl.cations in MAS to improve the grain yiel. and yiel. components in barl.y under drought *** strategies are based on the fol.owing five principl.s:(1)Mol.cul.r markers are designated as genomic‘tags’,and their‘prediction’is strongl. dependent on their distance from a candidate gene on genetic or physical.maps;(2)pl.nts react differentl. under favourabl. and stressful.conditions or depending on their stage of devel.pment;(3)each candidate gene must be verified by confirming its expression in the rel.vant conditions,e.g.,drought;(4)the mol.cul.r marker identified must be val.dated for MAS for tol.rance to drought stress and improved grain yiel.;and(5)the smal. number of mol.cul.r markers real.zed for MAS in breeding,from among the many studies targeting candidate genes,can be expl.ined by the compl.x nature of drought stress,and mul.ipl. stress-responsive genes in each barl.y genotype that are expressed differential.y depending on many other factors.

Background: Evidence regarding the effectiveness of prenatal.nutritional.suppl.ments has mainl. considered anthropometric pregnancy outcomes. The effect on markers of heal.h and disease， such as offspring tel.mere l.ngth (Tl. and mitochondrial.DNA content (mtDNAc) is unknown. Objectives: We assessed the efficacy of maternal.mul.ipl. micronutrient (MMN)-fortified bal.nced-energy protein (BEP) and iron-fol.c acid (IFA) suppl.mentation on newborn Tl.as a secondary outcome and mtDNAc as a non-decl.red outcome. Design: We conducted a randomized control.ed trial.in rural.Burkina Faso， among pregnant femal.s (15-40 years ol.) enrol.ed at l. (control. throughout pregnancy. Whol. arterial.bl.od sampl.s were col.ected from the umbil.cal.cord of 104 control.and 90 intervention group infants， respectivel.. Average rel.tive Tl.and mtDNAc were measured using quantitative pol.merase chain reaction. l.near regression model. were fitted to assess Tl.and mtDNAc differences across trial.arms. Resul.s: We found that a combined dail. MMN-fortified BEP suppl.ment and IFA tabl.t did not affect newborn Tl.[β = -0.010 (95% CI: -0.057， 0.036); P = 0.662] or mtDNAc [β = 0.065 (95% CI: -0.203， 0.073); P = 0.354]， as compared to an IFA tabl.t al.ne. These findings were confirmed (P > 0.05) by adjusting the regression model. for potential.prognostic factors of study outcomes at enrol.ment. Expl.ratory anal.ses indicated higher， but non-significantl. different mtDNAc among chil.ren born either smal.-for-gestational.age， l.w birthweight， or preterm. Concl.sions: Newborns from mothers who received dail. nutritional.suppl.ments across gestation did not have different rel.tive Tl.or mtDNAc.

Acute-on-chronic l.ver fail.re(ACl.)is a syndrome that occurs in patients with chronic l.ver disease and is characterized by acute decompensation,organ fail.re and high short-term *** due to the l.ck of universal.diagnostic criteria,the actual.ACl. preval.nce remains uncl.ar;neverthel.ss,it is expected to be a highl. preval.nt condition *** transpl.ntation is an effective protective measure for sel.cted ACl. *** l.ver transpl.ntation,diagnosing and treating precipitant events and providing supportive treatment for organ fail.res are currentl. the cornerstone of ACl. *** new cl.nical.specific therapies have been researched,more studies are necessary to assess safety and ***,future ACl. management strategies must consider measures to improve access to l.ver transpl.ntation because the time window for this l.fe-saving therapy is frequentl. ***,an urgent and gl.bal.discussion about al.ocation and prioritization for transpl.ntation in critical.y il. ACl. patients is needed because there is evidence suggesting that the current model.may not portray their waitl.st *** addition,whil. donor organ qual.ty is meant to be a prognostic factor in the ACl. setting,recent evidence suggests that machine perfusion of the l.ver may be a safe tool.to improve the donor organ pool.and expedite l.ver transpl.ntation in this scenario.

Col.r pol.morphism offers rich opportunities for studying the eco-evol.tionary mechanisms that drive the adaptations of l.cal.popul.tions to heterogeneous and changing *** expl.red the col.r morph diversity and composition in a Chrysomel. l.pponica l.af beetl. across its entire distribution range to test the hypothesis that environmental.and cl.matic variabl.s shape spatiotemporal.variation in the phenotypic structure of a pol.morphic *** obtained information on 13617 specimens of this beetl. from museums,private col.ections,and *** specimens(col.ected from 1830-2020)originated from 959 l.cal.ties spanning 33°l.titude,178°l.ngitude,and 4200 m *** cl.ssified the beetl.s into five col.r morphs and searched for environmental.factors that coul. expl.in the variation in the l.vel.of pol.morphism(quantified by the Shannon diversity index)and in the rel.tive frequencies of individual.col.r *** highest l.vel.of pol.morphism was found at high l.titudes and *** col.r morphs differed in their cl.matic requirements;composition of col.ur morphs was independent of the geographic distance that separated popul.tions but changed with col.ection year,l.ngitude,mean Jul. temperature and betweenyear temperature *** proportion of mel.nic beetl.s,in l.ne with the thermal.mel.nism hypothesis,increased with increasing l.titude and al.itude and decreased with increasing cl.mate *** morph frequencies al.o decl.ned during the past century,but onl. at high l.titudes and al.itudes where recent cl.mate warming was especial.y *** observed patterns suggest that col.r pol.morphism is especial.y advantageous for popul.tions inhabiting unpredictabl. environments,presumabl. due to the different cl.matic requirements of coexisting col.r morphs.
