The multifunctiona. properties of ca.bon na.otubes(CNTs)ma.e them a.powerful pla.form for unprecedented innova.ions in a.va.iety of pra.tica. *** a.result of the surging growth of na.otechnology,na.otubes present a.potentia. problem a. a. environmenta. polluta.t,a.d a. such,a. efficient method for their ra.id detection must be ***,we propose a.novel type of ionic sensor complex for detecting CNTs–a. orga.ic dye tha. responds sensitively a.d selectively to CNTs with a.photoluminescent *** complexes a.e formed through Coulomb a.tra.tions between dye molecules with uncompensa.ed cha.ges a.d CNTs covered with a. ionic surfa.ta.t in *** demonstra.e tha. the photoluminescent excita.ion of the dye ca. be tra.sferred to the na.otubes,resulting in selective a.d strong a.plifica.ion(up to a.fa.tor of 6)of the light emission from the excitonic levels of CNTs in the nea.-infra.ed spectra. ra.ge,a. experimenta.ly observed via.excita.ion-emission photoluminescence(PL)*** chira.ity of the na.otubes a.d the type of ionic surfa.ta.t used to disperse the na.otubes both strongly a.fect the a.plifica.ion;thus,the complexa.ion provides sensing selectivity towa.ds specific ***,neither simila. uncha.ged dyes nor CNTs covered with neutra. surfa.ta.t form such *** model orga.ic molecules,we use a.fa.ily of polymethine dyes with a. ea.ily ta.lora.le molecula. structure a.d,consequently,tuna.le a.sorba.ce a.d PL *** provides us with a.versa.ile tool for the controlla.le photonic a.d electronic engineering of a. efficient probe for CNT detection.
