This paper proposes an equivalent Hamiltonian equations model for the modular multilevel converter-based high-voltage direct-current(MMC-HVDC)transmission system,and constructs an energy function for multi-machine power systems with MMC-HVDC transmission lines.The equivalent Hamiltonian equations model is verified to be able to track the power output dynamics of the full model of an MMC-HVDC transmission system.Both theoretical and numerical studies have been undertaken to validate that the energy function proposed for hybrid AC/DC systems satisfies the conditions of an energy function.The work of this paper bridges the gap between the well-developed direct methods of transient stability analysis and power systems with MMC-HVDC transmission lines.

Transient stability analysis is a key problem in power system operation and planning.This paper aims at giving a comprehensive review on the modeling ideas and analysis methods for transient stability of large-scale power systems.For model construction,the general modeling of traditional power systems and special modeling for renewable generations and high-voltage direct-current transmissions are introduced.For transient stability analysis,Lyapunov based methods and non-Lyapunov based methods are thoroughly reviewed.In Lya-punov based methods,we focus on the energy function method,the sum-of-squares based method and decentralized stability analysis methods.Meanwhile,in non-Lyapunov based methods,the time-domain simulation,extended equal-area criterion and data-driven based methods are considered.The basic working principles,features and recent research progresses of all the above-mentioned methods are described in detail.In particular,their performances on several aspects,such as computational speed,conservativeness of stability region estimation or stability margin calculation,and adaptability to various types of system models,are mentioned.Finally,a brief discussion of potential directions for future research on transient stability analysis of large-scale power systems is included.Index Terms-connective stability,large-scale system analysis,Lyapunov functions,power systems,transient stability analysis.

An extraordinary and unprecedented heatwave swept across western North America(i.e.,the Pacific Northwest)in late June of 2021,resulting in hundreds of deaths,a massive die-off of sea creatures off the coast,and horrific wildfires.Here,we use observational data to find the atmospheric circulation variabilities of the North Pacific and Arctic-Pacific-Canada patterns that co-occurred with the development and mature phases of the heatwave,as well as the North America pattern,which coincided with the decaying and eastward movement of the heatwave.Climate models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(Phase 6)are not designed to simulate a particular heatwave event like this one.Still,models show that greenhouse gases are the main reason for the long-term increase of average daily maximum temperature in western North America in the past and future.

Although nanozyme has become an emerging area of research attracting extensive attention recently,the activity and specificity of currently reported nanozymes are generally lower than those of natural enzymes.Developing highly active and specific nanozymes is therefore extremely necessary and also remains a great challenge.Superoxide dismutase(SOD)catalyzes the disproportionation of cytotoxic O_(2)·^(−)into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen,and plays an important role in reducing human oxidative stress.In this work,we prepare Cu single-atom catalysts(Cu/GO SACs,GO=graphene oxide)through a simple and low-cost strategy at room temperature using Cu foam and graphene oxide.Cu/GO SACs can maintain excellent catalytic activity under harsh environment.Compared with the natural enzyme,SOD-like Cu/GO SAC nanozyme has higher catalytic activity and meanwhile,it does not possess the common properties of other mimic enzymes often existing in nanomaterials.Based on the excellent SOD-like enzyme activity of Cu/GO SACs,it successfully eliminates the active oxygen in cigarette smoke.This work not only provides a new idea for the design and synthesis of nanozymes with excellent SOD mimetic properties,but also is promising in the treatment of lung injury and inflammatory diseases related to free radical production.

By Petersen＇s Theorem, a bridgeless cubic graph has a 2-factor. Fleischner （Discrete Math., 101, 33-37 （1992）） has extended this result to bridgeless graphs of minimum degree at least three by showing that every such graph has an even factor without isolated vertices. Let me〉 0 be even and mo〉 0 be odd. In this paper, we prove that every me-edge-connected graph with minimum degree at least me ＋ 1 contains an even factor with minimum degree at least me and every （mo ＋ 1）- edge-connected graph contains an odd factor with minimum degree at least too, which further extends Fleischner＇s result. Moreover, we show that our results are best possible.

Interbasin water-transfer schemes provide an engineering solution for reconciling the conflict between water demand and availability.In the context of climate change,which brings great uncertainties to water resource distribution,interbasin water transfer plays an increasingly important role in the global water–food–energy nexus.However,the transfer of water resources simultaneously changes the hydrological regime and the characteristics of local water bodies,affecting biotic communities accordingly.Compared with high economic and technical inputs water-transfer projects require,the environmental and ecological implications of water-transfer schemes have been inadequately addressed.This work selects the largest water-transfer project in China,the South-to-North Water Diversion(SNWD)Project,to critically review its eco-environmental impacts on donor and recipient basins,as well as on regions along the diversion route.The two operated routes of the SNWD Project represent two typical water diversion approaches:The Middle Route uses an excavated canal,while the East Route connects existent river channels.An overview of the eco-environmental implications of these two routes is valuable for the design and optimization of future water-transfer megaprojects.

Microphysical Properties of Rainwater in Typhoon Usagi(2013):A Numerical Modeling Study

A 2-km resolution simulation using the Weather Research and Forecasting model with Morrison microphysics was employed to investigate the rainwater microphysical properties during different stages of Typhoon Usagi(2013) in the inner-core and outer region. The model reproduced the track, intensity, and overall structure of Usagi(2013) reasonably. The simulated raindrop size distribution showed a rapid increase in small-size raindrop concentration but an oscillated decrease in large-size ones in the inner-core region, corresponding well with the upward motion. It was found that there existed two levels(1.25 and 5.25 km) of maximum number concentration of raindrops. The ice-related microphysics at high levels was stronger than the warm-rain processes at low levels. The larger raindrops formed by self-collection in the inner-core suffered from significant breakup, but the raindrops outside the eyewall did not experience evident breakup. Model results indicated that the dominant terms in the water vapor budget were the horizontal moisture flux convergence(HFC) and local condensation and deposition. The evaporation from the ocean surface(PBL) was ~10% of the HFC in the inner core, but up to 40% in the outer region as the air therein was far from saturation. Furthermore, water vapor in the outer region was obtained equally through evaporation from the cloud and inward transportation from the environment. An earlier start of cloud microphysical processes in the inner-core region was evident during the intensification stage, and the continuous decreasing of condensation in both the inner-core and outer regions might imply the beginning of the storm weakening.

The India–Eurasia collision has produced a number of Cenozoic deep intracontinental basins,which bear important information for revealing the far-afield responses to the remote collision.Despite their significance,their subsiding mechanism remains the subject of debate,with end-member models attributing it to either orogenic or sedimentary load.In this study,we conduct flexural subsidence modeling with a two-dimensional finite elastic plate model on the Hotan-Mazatagh section along the southern Tarim Basin,which defines a key region in the foreland of the West Kunlun Orogen,along the NW margin of the Tibetan Plateau.The modeling results indicate that the orogenic load of West Kunlun triggers the southern Tarim Basin to subside by up to less than ~6 km,with its impact weakening towards the basin interiors until ~230 km north from the Karakax fault.The sedimentary load,consisting of Cenozoic strata,forces the basin to subside by ~2 to~7 km.In combination with the retreat of the proto-Paratethys Sea and the paleogeographic reorganization of the Tarim Basin,we propose that surface processes,in particular a shift from an exorheic to an endorheic drainage system associated with the consequent thick sedimentary load,played a decisive role in forming deep intracontinental basins in the context of the India-Eurasia collision.

Wearable sweat biosensors on textiles for health monitoring

In this paper, we study stabilizing problems for networked control systems in the presence of Denial-of-Service（DoS） attacks. DoS attacks may prevent signal transmissions over the network communication channels. The control objective is to save communication resources as many as possible while closed-loop stability is not destroyed under DoS attacks. By constructing a predictor-based periodic event-triggered control framework, we provide a stabilizing condition. The condition is up to the maximum unstable eigenvalue of the dynamic matrix of the plant and the parameters of DoS attacks. Through the event-triggered scheme, the transmission interval is extended, and the communication resources are saved. Simulations are done to confirm the bit rate under event-triggered control is lower than that under periodic sampling control.

With the rapid technological innovation in materials engineering and device integration,a wide variety of textilebased wearable biosensors have emerged as promising platforms for personalized healthcare,exercise monitoring,and pre-diagnostics.This paper reviews the recent progress in sweat biosensors and sensing systems integrated into textiles for wearable body status monitoring.The mechanisms of biosensors that are commonly adopted for biomarkers analysis are first introduced.The classification,fabrication methods,and applications of textile conductors in different configurations and dimensions are then summarized.Afterward,innovative strategies to achieve efficient sweat collection with textile-based sensing patches are presented,followed by an in-depth discussion on nanoengineering and system integration approaches for the enhancement of sensing performance.Finally,the challenges of textile-based sweat sensing devices associated with the device reusability,washability,stability,and fabrication reproducibility are discussed from the perspective of their practical applications in wearable healthcare.
