While it is known that patatin-related phospholipase A （pPLA） activity is rapidly activated within 3min by auxin, hardly anything is known about how this signal influences downstream responses like transcription of early auxin-induced genes or other physiological responses. We screened mutants with T-DNA insertions in members of the pPLA gene family for molecular and physiological phenotypes related to auxin. Only one in nine Arabidopsis thaliana ppla knockdown mutants displayed an obvious constitutive auxin-related phenotype. Compared to wild-type, ppla-IIlδ mutant seedlings had decreased main root lengths and increased lateral root numbers. We tested auxin-induced gene expression as a molecular readout for primary molecular auxin responses in nine ppla mutants and found delayed up- regulation of auxin-responsive gene exRression in all of themL Thirty minutes after auxin treatment, up-regulation of up to 40% of auxin-induced genes was delayed in mutant seedlings. We observed only a few cases with hypersensitive auxin-induced gene expression in ppla mutants. While, in three ppla mutants, which were investigated in detail, rapid up- regulation （as early as 10 min after auxin stimulus） of auxin-regulated genes was impaired, late transcriptional responses were wild-type-like. This regulatory or dynamic phenotype was consistently observed in different ppla mutants with delayed up-regulation that frequently affected the same genes. This defect was not affected by pPLA transcript levels which remained constant. This indicates aposttranslational mechanism as a functional link of pPLAs to auxin signaling. The need for a receptor triggering an auxin response without employing transcription regulation is discussed.

Phospholipase A enzymes cleave phospho- and galactolipids to generate free fatty acids and lysolipids that function in animal and plant hormone signaling. Here, we describe three Arabidopsis patatin-related phospholipase A （pPLA） genes AtPLAIVA, AtPLAIVB, and AtPLAIVC and their corresponding proteins. Loss-of-function mutants reveal roles for these pPLAs in roots during normal development and under phosphate deprivation. AtPLAIVA is expressed strongly and exclusively in roots and AtplalVA-null mutants have reduced lateral root development, characteristic of an impaired auxin response. By contrast, AtPLAIVB is expressed weakly in roots, cotyledons, and leaves but is transcriptionally induced by auxin, although AtplalVB mutants develop normally. AtPLAIVC is expressed in the floral gynaecium and is induced by abscisic acid （ABA） or phosphate deficiency in roots. While an AtplalVC-1 loss-of-function mutant displays ABA respon- siveness, it exhibits an impaired response to phosphate deficiency during root development. Recombinant AtPLA proteins hydrolyze preferentially galactolipids and, less efficiently, phospholipids, although these enzymes are not localized in chloroplasts. We find that AtPLAIVA and AtPLAIVB are phosphorylated by calcium-dependent protein kinases in vitro and this enhances their activities on phosphatidylcholine but not on phosphatidylglycerol. Taken together, the data reveal novel functions of pPLAs in root development with individual roles at the interface between phosphate deficiency and auxin signaling.

Peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school students:a cross-sectional study

Objective:The objective of the study was to explore the connection between peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school ***:This descriptive correlational study was conducted to investigate the link between perceived peer pressure and academic *** study involved a total of 525 adolescents,aged 14-19 years,drawn from 6 public junior high schools(PJHS)in Padang,Indonesia,using purposive *** stress and perceived peer pressure were assessed using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents(ESSA)and the Perceived Peer Pressure Scale(PPPS).Results:The findings indicated significant variations in stress levels among students in different grade levels(7th,8th,and 9th grades)(P0.05).Additionally,there was a positive correlation observed between perceived peer pressure and academic stress(r=0.14,P<0.05).Furthermore,multiple regression analyses,incorporating demographic variables and perceived peer pressure as independent factors,yielded statistically significant results(adjusted R^(2)=0.082,F=4.33,P<0.001).Notably,peer pressure had a direct impact on academic stress among adolescents,with class level and parents’educational background mediating the relationship between academic stress and adolescent behavioral ***:These findings underscore the importance of addressing both external and internal factors at the individual,family,school,and societal levels to enhance adolescents’psychological resilience and mitigate problem behaviors.

Rasch Model Assessment for Bloom Digital Taxonomy Applications

Assessment using Bloom’s taxonomy levels has evolved in a variety of contexts and *** the era of the COVID-19 pandemic,which necessitates use of online assessment,the need for teachers to use digital-based taxonomy skills or Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy(BDT)has increased even ***,the existing studies on validity and reliability of BDT items are *** overcome this limitation,this study aims to test whether BDT has good psychometric characteristics as a teacher’s self-assessment tool using the Rasch model analysis and to investigate the pattern of BDT usage in teaching and *** using a quantitative online survey design,this study involves six levels of BDT,namely,Remembering,Understanding,Applying,Analyzing,Evaluating,and *** questionnaire was developed and validated by two experts prior to administration.A stratified random sampling technique was conducted on 774 secondary teachers from five geographical zones in Malaysia,and the Rasch model was analyzed using WINSTEPS 3.71 *** performances of items improved by Rasch psychometric assessment including the application of BDT among *** hierarchy level was also assessed through graphical analysis,including the Wright map and bubble chart,to demonstrate the powerful performance of the Rasch model analysis in investigating item quality and ***,these empirically validated items using the Rasch model could advance the academic knowledge of BDT for future assessment and promote the Rasch calibration in an educational setting.

Prevalence and factors associated with belief in COVID-19 vaccine efficacy in Indonesia:A cross-sectional study

Selective microwave absorption in Nd3+ substituted barium ferrite composites

Microwave(MW)frequency based wireless communications and electronic devices became prospective due to several *** meet this need,a series of neodymium ions(Nd3+)substituted barium ferrite composites with composition(20)BaO:(80-x)Fe2 O3:(x)Nd2 O3(0≤x≤3 mol%)was prepared at1100℃using solid-state reaction *** evaluated the effect of various Nd3+ions contents on the surface morphology,structure,and magnetic properties of the as-synthesized barium ferrite ***,microwave reflection loss,complex permittivity and permeability were determined using the transmission/reflection line method in the X-band(8-12 GHz).SEM image of the composites shows that the surface morphology consists of rough and porous *** patterns of the un-doped composites reveal the existence of BaFe12O19(hexagonal)and Fe21.333O32(tetragonal)crystalline ***,a new hexagonal crystalline phase of Ba6 Nd2 Fe4 O15 with the crystallite sizes between 15 and 67 nm is observed due to Nd3+ions substitution in the *** saturation magnetization of the composite containing 2 mol%of Nd3+does not exhibit any significant alteration compared to the one devoid of Nd3+.The complex relative permitivity and permeability of the achieved composites enriched in Ba6 Nd2 Fe4 O15 and BaFe2 O4 phases disclose significant MW frequency *** composites also display selective MW absorption in the X-band which could be useful for diverse applications.

Kinematic Analysis and Rock Mass Classifications for Rock Slope Failure at USAID Highways

Rock slope kinematic analysis and rock mass classifications has been conducted at the 17^(th) km to 26^(th) km of USAID(United States Agency for International Development)highway in *** research aimed to examine the type of rock slope failures and the quality of rock mass as *** scan-line method was performed in six slopes by using a geological compass to determine rock mass structure on the rock slope,and the condition of joints such as persistence,aperture,roughness,infilling material,weathering and groundwater *** kinematic analysis was performed employing a stereographic *** rock slope quality and stability were investigated based on RMR(rock mass rating)and SMR(slope mass rating)*** rock slope kinematic analysis revealed that planar failure was likely to occur in Slope 1,3,and 4,the wedge failure in Slope 1 and 6,and toppling failure in Slope 2,5,and *** RMR rating is ranging from 57 to 64 and can be categorized as Fair to Good *** SMR rating revealed that the failure probability of Slope 3 was 90%,while it was from 40%to 60%for *** the uniform RMR for all slopes,the SMR was significantly *** detailed quantitative consideration of orientation of joint sets and geometry of the slope contributed to such differences in outcomes.

Use of social media while driving from an orthopedic resident's perspective

Purpose:To investigate the orthopedic injuries sustained while driving and using social media on cellular phones from an orthopedic resident's ***:A total of 118 patients who presented with a history of road traffic accident secondary to social media usage and suffered from fractures were included in this cross-sectional *** patients were reported from October 2018 to April *** collected the data including the type of collision,type of social media usage during driving,location of injury,wearing of safety equipment's such as helmet and seat belt during ***:The mean age of patients was(34.86±12.73)(range 15-71)*** common types of accident on the basis of collision of vehicles were:car versus motorbike 45(38.1%),motorbike versus motorbike 28(23.7%),and motorbike versus pedestrian 22(18.6%).Most of the accidents(61,51.7%)occurred due to mistake of *** of them,44(37.3%)occurred on traffic signals,followed by 29(24.6%)while driving on main *** common timing of accident was normal hours with frequency of 44(37.3%),followed by 39(33.1%)at late *** to fracture type,closed injuries were 98(83.1%)and open fractures were 20(16.9%).The most common fracture was clavicular fracture(21,22.5%)followed by soft tissue injury in 19(16.1%)*** most common social media application usage during driving was Facebook 43(36.4%),followed by Whatsapp 24(20.3%),Google 19(16.1%),and Instagram 15(12.7%).Conclusion:This study provides evidence that social media usage while driving put the drivers and other road users'lives at high *** most common social media addiction while driving is Facebook and *** there is a need to make strict rules and penalties for using cell phone during driving so as to save the lives of drivers and other people using road.

IVlelatonin ameliorates the adverse effects of leptin on sperm

This study examined the effects of melatonin on leptin-induced changes in sperm parameters in adult rats. Five groups of Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with either leptin or leptin and melatonin or melatonin for 6 weeks. Leptin was given daily via the intraperitoneal route （60 μg kg-1 body weight） and melatonin was given in drinking water （10 mg kg-1 or 20 mg kg-1 body weight per day）. Upon completion, sperm count, sperm morphology, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, Comet assay, TUNEL assay, gene expression profiles of antioxidant enzymes, respiratory chain reaction enzymes, DNA damage, and apoptosis genes were estimated. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Sperm count was significantly lower whereas the fraction of sperm with abnormal morphology, the level of 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, and sperm DNA fragmentation were significantly higher in rats treated with leptin only. Micmarray analysis revealed significant upregulation of apoptosis-inducing factor, histone acetyl transferase, respiratory chain reaction enzyme, cell necrosis and DNA repair genes, and downregulation of antioxidant enzyme genes in leptin-treated rats. Real-time polymerase chain reaction showed significant decreases in glutathione peroxidase 1 expression with increases in the expression of apoptosis-inducing factor and histone acetyl transferase in leptin-treated rats. There was no change in the gene expression of caspase-3 （CASP-3）. In conclusion, the adverse effects of leptin on sperm can be prevented by concurrent melatonin administration.

Kenaf cellulose-based poly(amidoxime) ligand for adsorption of rare earth ions

A well-known adsorbent, poly(amidoxime)ligand, was prepared from polyacrylonitrile(PAN) grafted kenaf cellulose, and subsequent characterization was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS).The adsorption capacities of the prepared ligand for rare earth metals are found to be excellent, with adsorptions of La^(3+), Ce^(3+), Pr^(3+), Gd^(3+) and Nd^(3+) experimentally determined to be 262, 255, 244, 241 and 233 mg·g^(-1), respectively, at pH 6. The experimental values of the adsorption of rare earth metals are well matched with the pseudosecond-order rate equation. The reusability of the adsorbent is examined for seven cycles of sorption/desorption,demonstrating that the proposed adsorbent could be reused for over seven cycles without any significant loss in the original removal capability of the ligand.
