This research implements a random dot kinematogram(RDK)using virtual reality(VR)and analyzes the results based on normal *** motion perception is one of visual functions localized to a specific cortical area,the human motion perception area(human analogue for the middle temporal/middle superior temporal area)located in the parieto–occipito–temporal junction of the human *** RDK measures visual motion perception *** stimuli in conventional RDK methods are presented using a monitor screen,so these devices require a spacious dark room for installation and ***,VR technology has been implemented in different medical *** test method proposed in this study include a VR-based RDK that can independently measure human motion perception abilities without any spatial constraints via a VR head-mounted ***,the VR-based RDK was implemented,and the visual perception abilities of the normal subjects were measured based on varying *** both screen-and VR-based RDK tests,the easier the stimulus is,the higher the correct answer rate and the shorter the reaction *** significant differences in coherence thresholds were observed between the two test *** VRbased RDK proposed in this study can be used as a diagnosis tool for visual motion perception and neurodegenerative disorders affecting the posterior region of the brain.

In this research,core-shell electrospun fibers loaded with the shell of cellulose acetate and the core of oleic acid and alkyd varnish resin were synthesized and used within poly(dimethyl siloxane)(PDMS)to prepare self-healing and p H-responsive coatings for a steel *** morphology of the electrospun fibers was characterized by scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and confocal fluorescence *** gravimetric analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed that the self-healing agents were loaded successfully with a loading rate of 2.9%.The properties of the fiber-PDMS composite coating were characterized by water contact angle measurements,mechanical tests,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,and scanning Kelvin *** show that the maximum self-healing efficiencies of the fiber-PDMS coating in alkaline and acidic solution are 95.96%and 97.04%,*** composition of the self-healing agents at the damaged part of the coating was verified by an infrared mapping test and using an energy dispersive *** addition,the sandpaper abrasion test shows the hydrophobic effect of fiber-PDMS coating remains above 88.2%and decreases slightly through the addition of abrasion *** research can pave the way for the industrial applications of p H-responsive self-healing coatings.

Effects of heavy metal ions Cu^(2+)/Pb^(2+)/Zn^(2+)on kinetic rate constants of struvite crystallization

Struvite(MAP)crystallization technology is widely used to treat ammonia nitrogen in waste effluents of its simple operation and good removal ***,the presence of heavy metal ions in the waste effluents causes problems such as slow crystallization rate and small crystal size,limiting the recovery rate and economic value of the *** present study was conducted to investigate the effects of concentrations of three heavy metal ions(Cu^(2+),Zn^(2+),and Pb^(2+))on the crystal morphology,crystal size,average growth rate,and crystallization kinetics of MAP.A relationship was established between the kinetic rate constant Ktcalculated by the chemical gradient model and the concentrations of heavy metal *** results showed that low concentrations of heavy metal ions in the solution created pits on the MAP surface,and high level of heavy metal ions generated flocs on the MAP surface,which were composed of metal hydroxides,thus inhibiting crystal *** crystal size,average growth rate,MAP crystallization rate,and kinetic rate constant Ktdecreased with the increase in heavy metal ion ***,the Ktdemonstrated a linear relationship with the heavy metal concentration ln(C/C~*),which provided a reference for the optimization of the MAP crystallization process in the presence of heavy metal ions.

The puzzle of the missing meat: Food away from home and China's meat statistics

From 1985, an increasing gap has emerged between the official statistical measures of meat production and meat consumption in China, which has raised concerns from many researchers using such data. In this paper we report the results of 428 observations（survey of 107 urban and rural households×4 quarters） from 7 provinces conducted in 2010, and compare them with the official statistical data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China（NBSC）. We conclude that the main reason for the discrepancy is due to the underreporting of consumption, which is due mainly to the omission of consumption away from home.

The impact of migration on the food consumption and nutrition of left-behind family members: Evidence from a minority mountainous region of southwestern China

While migration is widely recognized as a valid option for improving farmers’ income, the welfare effects of migration on left-behind family members are ambiguous. This study examines the impacts of migration on left-behind family members’ food consumption and nutrient intake, particularly in remote rural areas in China. Based on household survey data collected from 611 smallholder rubber farmers in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of southwestern China, the empirical results suggest that the migration of family members contributes to improving household net income, whereas it negatively affects left-behind family members’ consumption of grain and pork. Migration also leads to a decrease in left-behind family members’ nutrient intake. Surprisingly, the economic returns of farmers’ migration not only do not foster the transformation of household food consumption from a staple food-dominated dietary structure to one including more meat and dairy products but also reduce left-behind family members’ nutrient intake. This study adds to the literature on the impact of farmers’ migration. The findings have important implications for better understanding the impacts of migration on farmers’ livelihood and human capital development in rural China.

A thermodynamic view on the in-situ carbon dioxide reduction by biomass-derived hydrogen during calcium carbonate decomposition

In the carbonate industry,deep decarbonization strategies are necessary to effectively remediate CO_(2).These strategies mainly include both sustainable energy supplies and the conversion of CO_(2)in downstream *** study developed a coupled process of biomass chemical looping H2 production and reductive calcination of CaCO_(3).Firstly,a mass and energy balance of the coupled process was established in Aspen *** this,process optimization and energy integration were implemented to provide optimized operation ***,a life cycle assessment was carried out to assess the carbon footprint of the coupled *** reveal that the decomposition temperature of CaCO_(3)in an H_(2)atmosphere can be reduced to 780℃(generally around 900℃),and the conversion of CO_(2)from CaCO_(3)decomposition reached 81.33%with an H2:CO ratio of 2.49 in gaseous *** optimizing systemic energy through heat integration,an energy efficiency of 86.30%was ***,the carbon footprint analysis revealed that the process with energy integration had a low global warming potential(GWP)of-2.624 kg·kg^(-1)(CO_(2)/CaO).Conclusively,this work performed a systematic analysis of introducing biomass-derived H_(2)into CaCO_(3)calcination and demonstrated the positive role of reductive calcination using green H_(2)in mitigating CO_(2)emissions within the carbonate industry.

BACKGROUND Squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)in pancreas and stomach is a rare histologic subtype with aggressive behavior,poor prognosis,and no standardized *** SCC or gastric SCC has been previously ***,case of SCC occurring in both the pancreas and the stomach has not been reported *** SUMMARY A 75-year-old female with prior history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus visited our hospital with complaint of abdominal pain that started three months *** tomography(CT)scan of the abdomen showed 3.3 cm mass at the distal *** received surgical resection which was histologically found to be SCC of the pancreas with clear resection *** she was discharged,she no longer visited the *** years later,she was referred to our hospital after showing abnormal findings on a gastroscopy performed at another *** revealed a single,2cm sized,ill-defined irregular flat and hyperemic mass at high *** finding of the mass was *** scan and positive emission tomography CT showed metastatic lesions to the liver and the *** received combination chemotherapy with capecitabine and ***,she passed away 6 mo after diagnosis of gastric *** To the best of our knowledge,this is the first case of metachronous SCC of stomach occurring after diagnosis of pancreatic SCC.
