A habitat model has been widely used to manage marine species and analyze relationship between species distribution and environmental *** predictive skill in habitat model depends on whether the models include appropriate explanatory *** to limited habitat range,low density,and low detection rate,the number of zero catches could be very large even in favorable *** zeroes will increase the bias and uncertainty in estimation of ***,appropriate explanatory variables need to be chosen first to prevent underestimate or overestimate species abundance in habitat *** addition,biotic variables such as prey data and spatial autocovariate(SAC)of target species are often ignored in species distribution ***,we evaluated the eff ects of input variables on the performance of generalized additive models(GAMs)under excessive zero catch(>70%).Five types of input variables were selected,i.e.,(1)abiotic variables,(2)abiotic and biotic variables,(3)abiotic variables and SAC,(4)abiotic,biotic variables and SAC,and(5)principal component analysis(PCA)based abiotic and biotic variables and ***’s croaker Johnius belangerii is one of the dominant demersal fish in Haizhou Bay,with a large number of zero catches,thus was used for the case *** show that the PCA-based GAM incorporated with abiotic and biotic variables and SAC was the most appropriate model to quantify the spatial distribution of the *** variables and SAC were important and should be incorporated as one of the drivers to predict species *** study suggests that the process of input variables is critical to habitat modelling,which could improve the performance of habitat models and enhance our understanding of the habitat suitability of target species.

Cartilage is well lubricated over a lifetime and this phenomenon is attributed to both of the surface hydration lubrication and the matrix load-bearing *** hydrogels with a layered structure are designed to mimic cartilage as potential *** many studies have concentrated on improving surface hydration to reduce friction,few have experimentally detected the relationship between load-bearing capacity of hydrogels and their interface friction *** this work,a bilayer hydrogel,serving as a cartilage prototype consisted of a top thick hydrated polymer brush layer and a bottom hydrogel matrix with tunable modulus was designed to investigate this *** coefficient of friction(COF,μ)is defined as the sum of interfacial component(μInt)and deformation/hysteresis component(μHyst).The presence of the top hydration layer effectively dissipates contact stress and reduces the interface interaction(μInt),leading to a stable and low *** contribution of mechanical deformation(μHyst)during the sliding shearing process to COF can be significantly reduced by increasing the local mechanical modulus,thereby enhancing the load-bearing *** results show that the strategy of coupling surface hydration layer with a high load-bearing matrix can indeed enhance the lubrication performance of hydrogel cartilage prototypes,and implies a promising routine for designing robust soft matter lubrication system and friction-control devices.

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural(5-HMF),as a key platform compound for the conversion of biomass to various biomass-derived chemicals and biofuels,has been attracted extensive *** this research,using Pickering high internal phase emulsions(Pickering HIPEs)as template and functional metal-organic frameworks(MOFs,UiO-66-SO;H and UiO-66-NH;)/Tween 85 as co-stabilizers to synthesis the dual acid-base bifunctional macroporous polymer catalyst by one-pot process,which has excellent catalytic activity in the cascade reaction of converting cellulose to *** effects of the emulsion parameters including the amount of surfactant(ranging from 0.5%to 2.0%(mass)),the internal phase volume fraction(ranging from 75%to 90%)and the acid/base Pickering particles mass ratio(ranging from 0:6 to 6:0)on the morphology and catalytic performance of solid catalyst were systematically *** results of catalytic experiments suggested that the connected large pore size of catalyst can effectively improve the cellulose conversion,and the synergistic effect of acid and base active sites can effectively improve the 5-HMF *** highest 5-HMF yield,about 40.5%,can be obtained by using polymer/MOFs composite as catalyst(Poly-P12,the pore size of(53.3±11.3)μm,the acid density of 1.99 mmol·g^(-1)and the base density of 1.13 mol·g^(-1))under the optimal reaction conditions(130℃,3 h).Herein,the polymer/MOFs composite with open-cell structure was prepared by the Pickering HIPEs templating method,which provided a favorable experimental basis and theoretical reference for achieving efficient production of high addedvalue product from abundant biomass.

In the electricity market,fluctuations in real-time prices are unstable,and changes in short-term load are determined by many *** studying the timing of charging and discharging,as well as the economic benefits of energy storage in the process of participating in the power market,this paper takes energy storage scheduling as merely one factor affecting short-term power load,which affects short-term load time series along with time-of-use price,holidays,and temperature.A deep learning network is used to predict the short-term load,a convolutional neural network(CNN)is used to extract the features,and a long short-term memory(LSTM)network is used to learn the temporal characteristics of the load value,which can effectively improve prediction *** the load data of a certain region as an example,the CNN-LSTM prediction model is compared with the single LSTM prediction *** experimental results show that the CNN-LSTM deep learning network with the participation of energy storage in dispatching can have high prediction accuracy for short-term power load forecasting.

Habitat suitability index(HSI)models have been widely used to analyze the relationship between species abundance and environmental factors,and ultimately inform management of marine *** response of species abundance to each environmental variable is different and habitat requirements may change over life history stages and ***,it is necessary to determine the optimal combination of environmental variables in HSI *** this study,generalized additive models(GAMs)were used to determine which environmental variables to be included in the HSI *** variables were retained and weighted in the HSI model according to their relative contribution(%)to the total deviation explained by the boosted regression tree(BRT).The HSI models were applied to evaluate the habitat suitability of mantis shrimp Oratosquilla oratoria in the Haizhou Bay and adjacent areas in 2011 and 2013–*** and seasonal variations in HSI models of mantis shrimp were also *** the four models(non-optimized model,BRT informed HSI model,GAM informed HSI model,and both BRT and GAM informed HSI model),both BRT and GAM informed HSI model showed the best *** environmental variables(bottom temperature,depth,distance offshore and sediment type)were selected in the HSI models for four groups(spring-juvenile,spring-adult,falljuvenile and fall-adult)of mantis *** distribution of habitat suitability showed similar patterns between juveniles and adults,but obvious seasonal variations were *** study suggests that the process of optimizing environmental variables in HSI models improves the performance of HSI models,and this optimization strategy could be extended to other marine organisms to enhance the understanding of the habitat suitability of target species.

Surface wettability plays a significant role in reducing solid–liquid frictional resistance,especially the superhydrophilic/hydrophilic interface because of its excellent thermodynamic *** this work,poly(acrylic acid)-poly(acrylamide)(PAA–PAM)hydrogel coatings with different thicknesses were prepared in situ by polydopamine(PDA)-UV assisted surface catalytically initiated radical *** drag reduction performance of hydrogel surface was measured using a rotational rheometer by the plate–plate *** experimental results showed that the average drag reduction of hydrogel surface could reach up to about 56%in Couette flow,which was mainly due to the interfacial polymerization phenomenon that enhanced the ability of hydration layer to delay the momentum dissipation between fluid layers and the diffusion behavior of *** proposed drag reduction mechanism of hydrogel surface was expected to shed new light on hydrogel–liquid interface interaction and provide a new way for the development of steady-state drag reduction methods.
