Identification of tumor-suppressor genes in lung squamous cell carcinoma through integrated bioinformatics analyses

Lung cancer is a prevalent malignancy,and fatalities of the disease exceed 400,000 cases worldwide.Lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC)has been recognized as the most common pathological form of lung cancer.The comprehensive understanding of molecular features related to LUSC progression has great significance in LUSC prognosis assessment and clinical management.In this study,we aim to identify a panel of signature genes closely associated with LUSC,which can provide novel insights into the progression of LUSC.Gene expression profiles were retrieved from public resources including gene expression omnibus(GEO)and the cancer genome atlas(TCGA)database.Differentially expressed genes(DEGs)between LUSC specimens and normal lung tissues were identified by bioinformatics analyses.A total of 66 DEGs were identified based on two cohorts of data.CytoHubba plugin of Cytoscape software was utilized for the further analyses of the top 10 candidate hub genes including OGN,ABI3BP,MAMDC2,FGF7,FAM107A,SPARCL1,DCN,COL14A1,and MFAP4 and CHRDL1,which showed significant downregulation in LUSC.Two LUSC cell lines were used to validate the functions of CHRDL1 and FAM107A through overexpression experiment.Together,our data revealed novel candidate tumor-suppressor genes in LUSC,suggesting previously unappreciated mechanisms in the progression of LUSC.

Longitudinal vibration characteristics of a tapered pipe pile considering the vertical support of surrounding soil and construction disturbance

This research is concentrated on the longitudinal vibration of a tapered pipe pile considering the vertical support of the surrounding soil and construction disturbance.First,the pile-soil system is partitioned into finite segments in the vertical direction and the Voigt model is applied to simulate the vertical support of the surrounding soil acting on the pile segment.The surrounding soil is divided into finite ring-shaped zones in the radial direction to consider the construction disturbance.Then,the shear complex stiffness at the pile-soil interface is derived by solving the dynamic equilibrium equation for the soil from the outermost to innermost zone.The displacement impedance at the top of an arbitrary pile segment is obtained by solving the dynamic equilibrium equation for the pile and is combined with the vertical support of the surrounding soil to derive the displacement impedance at the bottom of the upper adjacent segment.Further,the displacement impedance at the pile head is obtained based on the impedance function transfer technique.Finally,the reliability of the proposed solution is verified,followed by a sensitivity analysis concerning the coupling effect of the pile parameters,construction disturbance and the vertical support of the surrounding soil on the displacement impedance of the pile.

Study on aerosol agglomeration using the airborne ultrasonic transducer

Acoustic agglomeration technology use high-intensity acoustic field to make aerosol particles collide and condense rapidly. Existing studies have shown that 70%–90% of fine particles can be eliminated within minutes using compression drives and air-jet generators. Currently, there are limitations to the sound sources used. In this paper, an airborne ultrasonic transducer with a resonant frequency of 15 kHz is designed, followed by the corresponding numerical simulation and experiments for the evaluation of the vibration modal and sound pressure field. The sound pressure levels (SPL) of the open space and the agglomeration chamber can reach 150 dB and 156 dB, respectively. The agglomeration effect of water droplets, liquid phase smoke, solid phase smoke and mixed smoke is experimentally investigated, and the light transmittance rapidly increases from 8% to 60% within 4 s, 8 s, 5 s and 6 s, respectively. Agglomeration is also effective in the high-frequency range, and we infer that the acoustic wake effect is the predominant mechanism. The elimination effect is promoted with the increasing of SPL until the corresponding secondary acoustic effect is enhanced. Moreover, the agglomeration rate of higher concentration aerosol is significantly better than that of diluted aerosols in ultrasonic agglomeration process.

Phosphorus-induced electronic structure reformation of hollow NiCo_(2)Se_(4) nanoneedle arrays enabling highly efficient and durable hydrogen evolution in all-pH media

With practical electrocatalytic hydrogen production frequently involving the splitting of water in various pH media,there is an urgent need but still a technical challenge to develop low-cost,highly active,and stable electrocatalysts for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).We report herein the adoption of a hydrothermal reaction combined with a post gas-phase doping strategy to fabricate P-doped NiCo_(2)Se_(4) hollow nanoneedle arrays on carbon fiber paper(i.e.,P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP).Notably,the optimal arrays(P8.71-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP)can afford an outstanding pH-universal HER performance,with an overpotential as low as 33,57,and 69 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2) and corresponding Tafel slopes down to 52,61,and 72 mV·dec^(−1) in acidic,alkaline,and neutral media,respectively,outperforming most state-of-the-art nonprecious catalysts and even the commercial Pt/C catalyst in both neutral and alkaline media at large current densities.Impressively,P_(8.71-)NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP also displays good durability toward long-time stability testing in harsh acidic and alkaline electrolytes.Experimental and theoretical studies further reveal that the doping of P atoms into NiCo_(2)Se_(4) can simultaneously optimize its H*adsorption/desorption energy,water adsorption energy,and water dissociation energy by adjusting the local electronic states of various active sites,thus accelerating the rate-determining step of HER in different pH media to endow P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4) with an outstanding pH-universal HER performance.This work provides atomic-level insights into the roles of active sites in various electrolysis environments,thereby shedding new light on the rational design of highly efficient pH-universal nonprecious catalysts for HER and beyond.

Leaching kinetics of fluorine during the aluminum removal from spent li-ion battery cathode materials

The high content of aluminum(Al)impurity in the recycled cathode powder seriously affects the extraction efficiency of Nickel,Cobalt,Manganese,and lithium resources and the actual commercial value of recycled materials,so Al removal is crucially important to conform to the industrial standard of spent li-ion battery cathode materials.In this work,we systematically investigated the leaching process and optimum conditions associated with Al removal from the cathode powder materials collected in a wet cathode-powder peeling and recycling production line of spent li-ion batteries(liBs).Moreover,we specifically studied the leaching of fluorine(F)synergistically happened along with the removal process of Al,which was not concerned about in other studies,but one of the key factors affecting pollution prevention in the recovery process.The mechanism of the whole process including the leaching of Al and F from the cathode powder was indicated by using NMR,FTIR,and XPS,and a defluoridation process was preliminarily investigated in this study.The leaching kinetics of Al could be successfully described by the shrinking core model,controlled by the diffusion process and the activation energy was 11.14 kJ/mol.While,the leaching of F was attributed to the dissolution of liPF6and decomposition of PVDF,and the kinetics associated was described by Avrami model.The interaction of Al and F is advantageous to realize the defluoridation to some degree.It is expected that our investigation will provide theoretical support for the large-scale recycling of spent liBs.

Additives strategies to improving cycling stability of li metal batteries by modifying electrode electrolyte interphases

li metal batteries（LMBs） have attracted much attention due to the ultra-high theoretical capacity of the li metal anode（LMA）.However,the uncontrollable dendrites growth and low coulombic efficiency hinder their practical application.Here,we explore 3,5-difluoropyridine（2F-BD） as a novel electrolyte additive to enable highperformance LMBs.The 2F-BD additive participates in and modifies the solvation structure of li ions by reducing the coordinated number of PF6-at the electrode surface,leading to the formation of a liF and li3N-rich solid electrolyte interphase（SEI）.The liF component increases the robustness of SEI and suppresses the formation of li dendrites,while the li3N component facilitates the transportation and reaction kinetics of li ions.As a result,the li‖li symmetric cell presents a stable cycling performance of up to 500 h at a current density of 1 mA cm-2.After coupling with liFePO4cathode,the obtained full cell achieves high specific capacities of 106.06 mA h g-1and 84.98 mA h g-1at 2.55 mA cm-2and 5.10 mA cm-2,respectively,and maintains a high capacity retention of84.0% after 1000 cycles at 0.13 mA cm-2,with an average cycling CE of 99.58%.

A high-performance biochar produced from bamboo pyrolysis with in-situ nitrogen doping and activation for adsorption of phenol and methylene blue

Nitrogen doping is a promising method for the preparation of functional carbon materials.In this study,a nitrogen-doped porous coral biochar was prepared by using bamboo as raw material,urea as nitrogen source,and KHCO3 as green activator through in-situ pyrolysis.The structure of the obtained biochar was characterized by various techniques including nitrogen adsorption and desorption,Raman spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectrometer,and etc.The adsorption properties of nitrogen-doped biochar were evaluated with phenol and methylene blue probes.The results showed that the nitrogen source ratio had a significant effect on the evolution of pore structure of biochar.Low urea addition ratio was beneficial to the development of pore structures.The optimum specific surface area of nitrogen-doped biochar could be up to 1693 m^2·g^-1.Nitrogen doping can effectively improve the adsorption capacity of biochar to phenol and methylene blue.Biochar prepared at 973.15 K with low urea addition ratio exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for phenol and methylene blue,and the equilibrium adsorption capacity was 169.0 mg·g^-1 and 499.3 mg·g^-1,respectively.By comparing the adsorption capacity of various adsorbents in related fields,it is proved that the nitrogen-doped biochar prepared in this study has a good adsorption effect.

Highly-chlorinated inert and robust interphase without mineralization of oxide enhancing high-rate li metal batteries

Side reactions and dendrite growth triggered by the unstable interface and inhomogeneous deposition have become the biggest obstacle to the commercialization for lithium metal batteries.In this study,a highly-chlorinated organic-inorganic hybrid interfacial protective layer is developed by rationally tuning the interfacial passivation and robustness to achieve the convenient and efficient li metal anode.The polyvinyl chloride(PVC)can effectively resist water and oxygen,which is confirmed by density functional theory.The organic-dominant solid electrolyte interphases(SEI)with lithium chloride are investigated by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)with little mineralization of oxide,such as li_(2)O and li_(2)CO_(3).With such artificial SEI,a uniform and dense lithium deposition morphology are formed and an ultra-long stable cycle of over 500 h are achieved even at an ultra-high current density of 10 m A/cm^(2).Moreover,the simple and convenient protected anode also exhibits excellent battery stability when paired with the liNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)and liFePO_(4)(LFP)cathode,showing great potential for the commercial application of lithium metal batteries.

Accelerating lithium-sulfur battery reaction kinetics and inducing 3D deposition of li2S using interactions between Fe3Se4 and lithium polysulfides

Although lithium-sulfur batteries（LSBs） exhibit high theoretical energy density,their practical application is hindered by poor conductivity of the sulfur cathode,the shuttle effect,and the irreversible deposition of li2S.To address these issues,a novel composite,using electrospinning technology,consisting of Fe3Se4and porous nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers was designed for the interlayer of LSBs.The porous carbon nanofiber structure facilitates the transport of ions and electrons,while the Fe3Se4material adsorbs lithium polysulfides（liPSs） and accelerates its catalytic conversion process.Furthermore,the Fe3Se4material interacts with soluble liPSs to generate a new polysulfide intermediate,lixFeSycomplex,which changes the electrochemical reaction pathway and facilitates the three-dimensional deposition of li2S,enhancing the reversibility of LSBs.The designed LSB demonstrates a high specific capacity of1529.6 mA h g-1in the first cycle at 0.2 C.The rate performance is also excellent,maintaining an ultra-high specific capacity of 779.7 mA h g-1at a high rate of 8 C.This investigation explores the mechanism of the interaction between the interlayer and liPSs,and provides a new strategy to regulate the reaction kinetics and li2S deposition in LSBs.

Ultrathin organic solvent nanofiltration membrane with polydopamine-HKUST-1 interlayer for organic solvent separation

Polydopamine(PDA)and metal-organic skeleton HKUST-1 were co-deposited on the base membrane of hexamethylenediamine(HDA)-crosslinked polyetherimide(PEI)ultrafiltration membrane as the interlayer,and high-throughput organic solvent nanofiltration membrane(OSN)was prepared by interfacial polymerization and solvent activation reaction.The polyamide(PA)layer surface roughness from 28.4 nm in PA/PEI to 78.3 nm in PA/PDA-HKUST-10.6/PEI membrane,reduced the thickness of the separation layer from 79 to 14 nm,and significantly improved the hydrophilic,thermal and mechanical properties.The flux of the PA/PDA-HKUST-10.6/PEI membrane in a 0.1 g/L Congo Red(CR)ethanol solution at 0.6 MPa test pressure reached 21.8 L/(m^(2)·hr)and the rejection of CR was 92.8%.Solvent adsorption test,N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF)immersion experiment,and long-term operation test in ethanol showed that the membranes had high solvent tolerance.The solvent flux test demonstrated that,under the test pressure of 0.6 MPa,the flux of different solvents ranked as follows:methanol(56.9 L/(m^(2)·hr))>DMF(39.6 L/(m^(2)·hr))>ethanol(31.2 L/(m^(2)·hr))>IPA(4.5 L/(m^(2)·hr))>N-hexane(1.9 L/(m^(2)·hr)).The ability of the membranes to retain dyes in IPA/water dyes solution was also evaluated.The flux of the membrane was 30.4 L/(m^(2)·hr)and the rejection of CR was 91.6%when the IPA concentration reached 50%.This OSN membrane-making strategy is economical,environment-friendly and efficient,and has a great application prospect in organic solvent separation systems.
