Relationship between seismic structures and the diverse rupture processes of the 2023 Türkiye earthquake doublet

Recent geodetic and seismological observations of two major earthquakes in southeastern Türkiye in February 2023 have revealed complex rupture initiation,propagation,and segmentation along the East Anatolian Fault Zone(EAFZ)and surrounding ***,the role of upper crust structures along the EAFZ in determining the diverse rupture processes of this earthquake doublet remains *** further investigate this,we employed double-difference location and seismic tomography techniques to determine high-resolution seismic velocities(V_(P),V_(S))and Poisson’s ratio(σ)structures using a multiparameter joint tomographic *** dataset includes 100,833 high-quality source-receiver travel-time pairs of P-and *** find that the unique rupture processes of this earthquake doublet were primarily influenced by contrasting crustal seismic structures and localized geological *** M_(w)7.8 mainshock was initiated within a transitional edge zone characterized by a rigid part(asperity)of the seismogenic zone with sharp contrast variations in rock strength ranging from low to high along the *** comparison,the M_(w)7.6 rupture originated in a ductile belt featuring fluid saturation with low-VP,low-VS,and high-σvalues that extended parallel to the Cardak *** pronounced contrast structures observed along the former rupture can be attributed to the oblique collision system between the weakened section of the east Anatolian plateau and the brittle Arabian platform,while the latter rupture was initiated within the ductile structure associated with fluid intrusion caused by the northward subduction of the Cyprus slab and subsequent ***,the occurrence of the first earthquake(E1)serves to alleviate shear stress on the second earthquake(E2)fault,potentially impeding the initiation of an E2 *** the contrary,this event also significantly reduces the normal stress acting on the E2 fault due to a double left-lateral strike-slip system

Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus(L. bulgaricus) and Streptococcus thermophilus(S. thermophilus) are commonly used starters in milk fermentation. Fermentation experiments revealed that L. bulgaricus-S. thermophilus interactions(LbSt I) substantially impact dairy product quality and production. Traditional biological humidity experiments are time-consuming and labor-intensive in screening interaction combinations, an artificial intelligence-based method for screening interactive starter combinations is necessary. However,in the current research on artificial intelligence based interaction prediction in the field of bioinformatics, most successful models adopt supervised learning methods, and there is a lack of research on interaction prediction with only a small number of labeled ***, this study aimed to develop a semi-supervised learning framework for predicting LbSt I using genomic data from 362 isolates(181per species). The framework consisted of a two-part model: a co-clustering prediction model(based on the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) dataset) and a Laplacian regularized least squares prediction model(based on K-mer analysis and gene composition of all isolates datasets). To enhance accuracy, we integrated the separate outcomes produced by each component of the two-part model to generate the ultimate LbSt I prediction results, which were verified through milk fermentation experiments. Validation through milk fermentation experiments confirmed a high precision rate of 85%(17/20; validated with 20 randomly selected combinations of expected interacting isolates). Our data suggest that the biosynthetic pathways of cysteine, riboflavin, teichoic acid, and exopolysaccharides, as well as the ATP-binding cassette transport systems, contribute to the mutualistic relationship between these starter bacteria during milk fermentation. It remains a great challenge to understand the hydrates involved in phenomena in practical oil and gas systems. The adhesion forces between hydrate particles, between hydrate particles and pipe walls, and between hydrate particles and reservoir particles are essential factors that control the behaviors of clathrate hydrates in different applications. In this review, we summarize the typical micro-force measurement apparatus and methods utilized to study hydrate particle systems. In addition, the adhesion test results, the related understandings, and the applied numerical calculation models are systematically discussed.

Multivalent metal-ion batteries have attracted wide attention with the expectation of tackling the needs of large-scale electrochemical energy storage[1].Among them,rechargeable calcium(Ca)-ion batteries are known as a promising alternative to conventional lithium(Li)-ion batteries due to the high abundance of calcium(the fifth most abundant element in the earth’s crust)and its large theoretical capacity(2,073 m Ah cm^(-3))and potential(-2.87 V *** hydrogen electrode,SHE)comparable to that of Li(-3.04 V ***).Furthermore,unlike monovalent cations,the divalent calcium cations favor a two-electron transfer to increase the specific energies[2].

Deciphering and integrating invariants for neural operator learning with various physical mechanisms

Neural operators have been explored as surrogate models for simulating physical systems to overcome the limitations of traditional partial differential equation(PDE) solvers. However, most existing operator learning methods assume that the data originate from a single physical mechanism, limiting their applicability and performance in more realistic scenarios. To this end, we propose the physical invariant attention neural operator(PIANO) to decipher and integrate the physical invariants for operator learning from the PDE series with various physical mechanisms. PIANO employs self-supervised learning to extract physical knowledge and attention mechanisms to integrate them into dynamic convolutional *** to existing techniques, PIANO can reduce the relative error by 13.6%–82.2% on PDE forecasting tasks across varying coefficients, forces or boundary conditions. Additionally, varied downstream tasks reveal that the PI embeddings deciphered by PIANO align well with the underlying invariants in the PDE systems, verifying the physical significance of PIANO.
