BACKGROUND This study presents the clinical and genetic mutation characteristics of an unusual case of adult-onset diabetes mellitus occurring in adolescence,featuring a unique mutation in the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPARG)*** Access Statement:Research data supporting this publication are available from the NN repository at ***/download/.CASE SUMMARY The methodology employed entailed meticulous collection of comprehensive clinical data from the probands and their respective family ***,high-throughput sequencing was conducted to analyze the PPARG genes of the patient,her siblings,and their *** results of this investigation revealed that the patient initially exhibited elevated blood glucose levels during pregnancy,accompanied by insulin resistance and ***,these strains displayed increased susceptibility to diabetic kidney disease without any discernible aggregation *** results from the gene detection process demonstrated a heterozygous mutation of guanine(G)at position 284 in the coding region of exon 2 of PPARG,which replaced the base adenine(A)(exon2c.284A>***95Cys).This missense mutation resulted in the substitution of tyrosine with cysteine at the 95th position of the translated ***,both of her siblings harbored a nucleotide heterozygous variation at the same site,and both were diagnosed with *** The PPARG gene mutation,particularly the ***95Cys mutation,may represent a newly identified subtype of maturity-onset diabetes of the *** subtype is characterized by insulin resistance and lipid metabolism disorders.

Control Strategies of Asymmetric Strip Shape in Six-High Cold Rolling Mill

It is a complicated problem for cold-rolled strip to improve asymmetric strip shape in strip production. A roll system and strip coupled model of six-high cold rolling mill was established with finite element method to estimate the effect of intermediate roll shifting, tilting, symmetric and asymmetric bending technologies on strip profile. To reduce asymmetric defects of strip shape as much as possible, some control strategies were proposed, including tilting and asymmetric bending of intermediate roll and work roll. The combinations of these three control strategies can effectively eliminate asymmetric strip shape defects. Finally, the closed-loop control model of asymmetric flat- ness at the last stand was given, and the flatness control system with the function of asymmetric strip shape control was also designed for cold tandem mill.

Enhancing catalytic activity through modulating the interaction between N-doped carbon and metal phosphides clusters is an effective ***,the electronic structure modulation of CoP_(2) supported N-modified carbon(CoP_(2)/NC)has been designed and prepared as efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Notably,CoP_(2)/NC-1 catalyst exhibits impressive performance in alkaline media,with an ORR half-wave potential of 0.84 V,as well as OER and HER overpotentials of 290 and 129 mV(at 10 mA·cm^(−2)),*** addition,CoP_(2)/NC-1 produces a power density as high as 172.9 mW·cm^(−2),and excellent reversibility of 100 h at 20 mA·cm^(−2) in home-made Zn-air *** experimental results demonstrate that the synergistic interactions between N modified carbon substrate and CoP_(2) material significantly enhance the kinetics of ORR,OER,and *** functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the strong electrons redistribution of CoP_(2) induced by high-density N atoms at the interface,thus optimizing the key intermediates and significantly lower the energy barrier of *** electronic adjustments of CoP_(2) greatly enhance its kinetics of ORR/OER/HER,leading to faster *** study provides profound insights into the specific modification of CoP_(2) by N-doped carbon,enabling the construction of efficient catalysts.

Lattice-distorted Pt wrinkled nanoparticles for highly effective hydrogen electrocatalysis

Modulating Pt surfaces through the introduction of lattice distortion emerges as immensely effective strategy that enhances the kinetics of alkaline hydrogen evolution and oxidation *** this study,we fabricated lattice-distorted Pt wrinkled nanoparticles(LD-Pt WNPs)for efficient hydrogen *** LD-Pt WNPs not only outperform the Pt/C benchmark in hydrogen oxidation reaction,achieving an excellent mass-specific current of 968.5 mA·mg_(Pt)^(-1)(9 times that of Pt/C),but also demonstrate outstanding hydrogen evolution reaction activity with a small overpotential of 58.0 *** experiments and density functional theory calculations reveal that lattice defects introduce an abundance of unsaturated coordination atoms while modifying the d-band center of *** dual effect optimizes the binding strength of crucial H and OH intermediates,leading to a significant reduction in the energy barrier of the reaction bottleneck,commonly known as the Volmer *** work unveils a fresh viewpoint on projecting and developing high efficiency electrocatalysts through defect engineering.

Endosulfan residues and farmers’replacement behaviors of endosulfan in the north-west inland cotton region

We assessed the situation of endosulfan residues in cotton fields after the endosulfan ban came into effect and the current knowledge,attitude,and practice(KAP)of cotton farmers on the phase-out of endosulfan and the application of alternative *** samples(n=91)of cotton fields were collected from the major cotton-producing areas in China,namely the north-west inland cotton region,and the endosulfan residues were analyzed.A KAP survey was carried out for cotton farmers,and 291 questionnaires were *** influences of gender,age,education background,cotton planting years,publicity and training,income sources,and other factors on cotton farmers’KAP were *** results showed that endosulfan sulfate was the main endosulfan residue in the soil,followed byβ-endosulfan andα-endosulfan,the average residual contents were 0.569,0.139,and 0.060μg/kg,*** results of the KAP study showed that cotton farmers scored low on knowledge about the phase-out of endosulfan and the application of alternative technologies but high on attitude and *** number of family members,years of cotton planting,age,and the cottonplanting area had different degrees of influence on KAP *** training could significantly improve the KAP scores of cotton farmers;training should be more targeted and designed reasonably for key groups,such as men and the population under 30,followed by training them to use pesticides *** large-scale cotton growers,training should focus on green prevention and control technologies.

Hydrogen production through hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)offers a promising solution to combat climate change by replacing fossil fuels with clean energy ***,the widespread adoption of efficient electrocatalysts,such as platinum(Pt),has been hindered by their high *** this study,we developed an easy-to-implement method to create ultrathin Pt nanomembranes,which catalyze HER at a cost significantly lower than commercial Pt/C and comparable to non-noble metal *** Pt nanomembranes consist of highly distorted Pt nanocrystals and exhibit a heterogeneous elastic strain field,a characteristic rarely seen in conventional *** unique feature results in significantly higher electrocatalytic efficiency than various forms of Pt electrocatalysts,including Pt/C,Pt foils,and numerous Pt singleatom or single-cluster *** research offers a promising approach to develop highly efficient and cost-effective low-dimensional electrocatalysts for sustainable hydrogen production,potentially addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis.

Understanding the process of chemical reactions has always been a relentless pursuit for *** development of femtosecond pump-probe techniques since the 1980s has revolutionized the field of chemical dynamics,enabling the capture of timeresolved snapshots of reactions on the femtosecond *** from the 2010s,breakthroughs in femtosecond electron and X-ray sources has enabled ultrafast electron and X-ray diffraction techniques,which is able to directly reveal the temporal evolution of atomic geometries of molecules,allowing for the creation of molecular ***-phase molecular movies reveal intrinsic intramolecular processes,while liquid-phase molecular movies provide insights for complicated solvent-solute *** minireview focuses on the advances in studying gasphase and liquid-phase molecular dynamics(MD)using ultrafast electron and X-ray diffraction techniques on femtosecond and picosecond *** fast-developing experimental capability of the direct observation of molecular structural evolution during chemical reactions,on its natural femtosecond timescale and subangstrom length scale,offers tremendous potential for the field of chemical kinetics and MD.
