BACKGROUND Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-associated dementia(HAD)is a subcortical form of dementia characterized by memory deficits and psychomotor ***,HAD often presents with symptoms similar to those of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease(CJD),particularly in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS).CASE SUMMARY We report the case of a 54-year-old male who exhibited cognitive dysfunction and secondary behavioral changes following HIV infection and suspected prion *** patient was diagnosed with HIV during hospitalization and his cerebrospinal fluid tested positive for 14-3-3 *** electroencephalogram showed a borderline-abnormal periodic triphasic wave ***-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging revealed moderate encephalatrophy and ***,symptomatic treatment and administration of amantadine were pursued for presumed CJD,but the patient’s condition continued to *** contrast,the patient’s condition improved following anti-HIV *** individual is also the only patient with this prognosis to have survived over 4 ***,the diagnosis was revised to *** In the diagnostic process of rapidly progressive dementia,it is crucial to rule out as many potential causes as possible and to consider an autopsy to diminish diagnostic *** 14-3-3 protein should not be regarded as the definitive marker for *** laboratory screening for infectious diseases is essential to enhance diagnostic precision,especially in AIDS patients with potential ***,a trial of diagnostic treatment may be considered when additional testing is not feasible.

Impact of Media Information on Social Response in Disasters:A Case Study of the Freezing‑Rain and Snowstorm Disasters in Southern China in 2008

Disaster information content is an objective mapping of disaster situations,social response,and public *** response to emergency is an important mechanism for implementing and guaranteeing emergency management of major natural hazard-related *** how disaster information content affects social response to emergencies is helpful for managing risk communication and efficient disaster *** on the 2008 freezing-rain and snowstorm disasters in southern China,this study used Python to extract 7,857 case-related media reports and applied natural language processing for text *** used three typical cases to identify and analyze disaster media report content and the relationship between these reports and the social response to the *** categories of disaster response-such as prewarning and forecasting,announcements by the authorities,and social mobilization-appeared in the disaster information in the media,along with disaster impact information,that is,real-time disaster *** response information and an appropriate amount of disaster impact information played important roles in prewarning,disaster relief,public opinion guidance,and social stability maintenance and can serve important functions in communicating with all stakeholders of emergency management,assisting or influencing emergency departments or individuals in decision making,and eliminating "information islands." Empathy caused the general public to become "disaster responders" through receiving *** and an excess of negative information may have a perverse amplification effect on public opinion and increase the unpredictability of the disaster situation and the risk of social crisis.

A Hybrid Approach for Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of Bearings Based on the RReliefF Algorithm and Extreme Learning Machine

Accurately predicting the remaining useful life(RUL)of bearings in mining rotating equipment is vital for mining *** research aims to distinguish the features associated with the RUL of bearings and propose a prediction model based on these selected *** study proposes a hybrid predictive model to assess the RUL of rolling element *** proposed model begins with the pre-processing of bearing vibration signals to reconstruct sixty time-domain *** hybrid model selects relevant features from the sixty time-domain features of the vibration signal by adopting the RReliefF feature selection ***,the extreme learning machine(ELM)approach is applied to develop a predictive model of RUL based on the optimal *** model is trained by optimizing its parameters via the grid search *** training datasets are adjusted to make them most suitable for the regression model using the cross-validation *** proposed hybrid model is analyzed and validated using the vibration data taken from the public XJTU-SY rolling element-bearing *** comparison is constructed with other traditional *** experimental test results demonstrated that the proposed approach can predict the RUL of bearings with a reliable degree of accuracy.

Laparoscopic vs open surgery for gastric cancer: Assessing time, recovery, complications, and markers

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common cancers *** and mortality have increased in recent years,making it an urgent issue to ***-paroscopic radical surgery(LRS)is a crucial method for treating patients with GC;However,its influence on tumor markers is still under *** data of 194 patients treated at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital bet-ween January 2018 and January 2019 were retrospectively *** who underwent traditional open surgery and LRS were assigned to the control(n=90)and observation groups(n=104),*** sample t-tests andχ2 tests were used to compare the two groups based on clinical efficacy,changes in tumor marker levels after treatment,clinical data,and the incidence of posto-perative *** investigate the association between tumor marker levels and clinical efficacy in patients with GC,three-year recurrence rates in the two groups were *** Patients in the observation group had a shorter duration of operation,less in-traoperative blood loss,an earlier postoperative eating time,and a shorter hospital stay than those in the control group(Phe two groups regarding the number of lymph node dissections(P>0.05).After treatment,the overall response rate in the control group was significantly lower than that in the observation group(P=0.001).Furthermore,after treatment,the levels of carbohydrate antigen 19-9,cancer antigen 72-4,carcinoembryonic antigen,and cancer antigen 125 decreased *** observation group also exhibited a significantly lower incidence rate of postoperative complications compared to the control group(Phe two groups did not significantly differ in terms of three-year survival and recurrence rates(P>0.05).CONCLUSION LRS effectively treats early gastric cancer by reducing intraoperative bleeding,length of hospital stays,and postoperative complications.I

Symmetrization of quasi-regular patterns with periodic tilting of regular polygons

Computer-generated aesthetic patterns are widely used as design materials in various fields. The most common methods use fractals or dynamical systems as basic tools to create various patterns. To enhance aesthetics and controllability, some researchers have introduced symmetric layouts along with these tools. One popular strategy employs dynamical systems compatible with symmetries that construct functions with the desired symmetries. However, these are typically confined to simple planar symmetries. The other generates symmetrical patterns under the constraints of tilings. Although it is slightly more flexible, it is restricted to small ranges of tilings and lacks textural variations. Thus, we proposed a new approach for generating aesthetic patterns by symmetrizing quasi-regular patterns using general k-uniform tilings. We adopted a unified strategy to construct invariant mappings for k-uniform tilings that can eliminate texture seams across the tiling edges. Furthermore, we constructed three types of symmetries associated with the patterns: dihedral, rotational, and reflection symmetries. The proposed method can be easily implemented using GPU shaders and is highly efficient and suitable for complicated tiling with regular polygons. Experiments demonstrated the advantages of our method over state-of-the-art methods in terms of flexibility in controlling the generation of patterns with various parameters as well as the diversity of textures and styles.

Broadband electroluminescence based on environment-friendly emitters is promising for healthy lighting yet remains an unprecedented challenge to *** copper halide-based emitters are competitive candidates for broadband emission,but their high-performance electroluminescence shows inadequate broad emission bandwidth of less than 90 ***,we demonstrate efficient ultra-broadband electroluminescence from a copper halide(CuI)nanocluster single emitter prepared by a one-step solution synthesis-deposition process,through dedicated design of ligands and subtle selection of *** CuI nanocluster exhibits high rigidity in the excitation state as well as dual-emissive modes of phosphorescence and temperature-activated delayed fluorescence,enabling the uniform cluster-composed film to show excellent stability and high photoluminescent *** consequence,ultra-broadband light-emitting diodes(LEDs)present nearly identical performance in an inert or air atmosphere without encapsulation and outstanding high-temperature operation performance,reaching an emission full width at half maximum(FWHM)of~120 nm,a peak external quantum efficiency of 13%,a record maximum luminance of~50,000 cd m^(−2),and an operating half-lifetime of 137 h at 100 cd m^(−2).The results highlight the potential of copper halide nanoclusters for next-generation healthy lighting.
