Prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in end-stage liver disease:A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)is commonly utilized as a prognostic indicator in end-stage liver disease(ESLD),encompassing conditions like liver failure and decompensated ***,some studies have contested the prognostic value of NLR in *** To investigate the ability of NLR to predict *** Databases,such as Embase,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane library,china National Knowledge Infrastructure,Weipu,and Wanfang,were comprehensively searched to identify studies published before October 2.2. assessing the prognostic ability of NLR to predict mortality in patients with *** sizes were calculated using comprehensive meta-analysis software and SATAT *** A total of thirty studies involving patients with end-stage liver disease(ESLD)were included in the *** the pooled results of eight studies,it was observed that the Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio(NLR)was significantly higher in non-survivors compared to survivors(random-effects model:standardized mean difference=1.02.95%confidence interval=0.67-1.37).Additionally,twenty-seven studies examined the associations between NLR and mortality in ESLD patients,reporting either hazard ratios(HR)or odds ratios(OR).The combined findings indicated a link between NLR and ESLD mortality(randomeffects model;univariate HR=1.07,95%CI=1.05-1.09;multivariate HR=1.07,95%CI=1.07-1.09;univariate OR=1.2.,95%CI=1.18-1.39;multivariate OR=1.2.,95%CI=1.09-1.4.).Furthermore,subgroup and meta-regression analyses revealed regional variations in the impact of NLR on ESLD mortality,with Asian studies demonstrating a more pronounced *** Increased NLR in patients with ESLD is associated with a higher risk of mortality,particularly in Asian *** is a useful prognostic biomarker in patients with ESLD.

Relationship between dietary niacin intake and erectile dysfunction:a population-based study

Early changes in corneal densitometry after FS-LASIK combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking for correction of high myopia

AIM:To observe the effects of femtosecond laserassisted excimer laser in situ keratomileusis combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking(FS-LASIK Xtra)on corneal densitometry after correcting for high ***:In this prospectively study,130 patients underwent FS-LASIK or FS-LASIK Xtra for high *** right eyes were selected for inclusion in the study,of which 65 cases of 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK group,65 patients with 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK Xtra *** were evaluated for corneal densitometry at 1,3,and 6mo postoperatively using Pentacam Scheimpflug ***:Preoperative differences in corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups in different ranges were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Layer-by-layer analysis revealed statistically significant differences in the anterior(12.μm),central,and total layer corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups at 1 and 3mo postoperatively(all P2.2.6,and 6–10 mm(both P3mo postoperatively,the FS-LASIK Xtra group is higher than that of the FS-LASIK group in the ranges of 0–2.and 2.6 mm(P0.05).CONCLUSION:There is an increase in internal corneal densitometry during the early postoperative period after FS-LASIK Xtra for correction of high ***,the densitometry values decreased to the level of conventional FS-LASIK at 6mo after surgery,with the most significant changes observed in the superficial central zone.

Without intervention,a considerable proportion of patients with metabolism‐associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)will progress from simple steatosis to metabolism‐associated steatohepatitis(MASH),liver fibrosis,and even hepatocellular ***,the molecular mechanisms that control progressive MAFLD have {4.t to be fully ***,we unraveled that the expression of the N6-methyladenosine(m6A)methyltransferase METTL14.is remarkably downregulated in the livers of both patients and several murine models of MAFLD,whereas hepatocyte-specific depletion of this methyltransferase aggravated lipid accumulation,liver injury,and ***,hepatic Mettl14.overexpression alleviated the above pathophysiological changes in mice fed on a high-fat diet(HFD).Notably,in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies indicated that METTL14.downregulation decreased the level of GLS2.by affecting the translation efficiency mediated by YTHDF1 in an m6A-depedent manner,which might help to form an oxidative stress microenvironment and accordingly recruit Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2.(+)monocyte-derived macrophages(Mo-macs).In detail,Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2.(+)Mo-macs can be categorized into M1-like macrophages and S100A4.positive macrophages and then further activate hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)to promote liver *** experiments revealed that CX3CR1 can activate the transcription of S100A4.via CX3CR1/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway in Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2.(+)*** of METTL14.or GLS2.or interfering with this signal transduction pathway such as inhibiting MyD88 could ameliorate liver injuries and *** together,these findings indicate potential therapies for the treatment of MAFLD progression.

Radiotherapy combined with immune checkpoint blockade holds great promise for synergistic antitumor *** radionuclide therapy delivers radiation directly to tumor ***100{2.is a fibroblast activation protein(FAP)-targeting radiopharmaceutical,conjugated with the albumin binder Evans Blue,which has demonstrated enhanced tumor uptake and retention in previous preclinical and clinical ***,we demonstrate that^(68)Ga/^(177)Lu-labeled LNC100{2.exhibits increased uptake and pro{{2.ed retention in MC38/NIH3T3-FAP and CT2./NIH3T3-FAP tumor *** therapy with^(177)Lu-LNC100{2.induced a transient upregulation of PD-L1 expression in tumor *** combination of^(177)Lu-LNC100{2.and anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy led to complete eradication of all tumors in MC38/NIH3T3-FAP tumor-bearing mice,with mice showing 100%tumor rejection upon ***,single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),and TCR sequencing revealed that combination therapy reprogrammed the tumor microenvironment in mice to foster antitumor immunity by suppressing malignant progression and increasing cell-to-cell communication,CD8^(+)T-cell activation and expansion,M1 macrophage counts,antitumor activity of neutrophils,and T-cell receptor diversity.A preliminary clinical study demonstrated that^(177)Lu-LNC100{2.was well-tolerated and effective in patients with refractory ***,scRNA-seq of peripheral blood mononuclear cells underscored the importance of addressing immune evasion through immune checkpoint blockade *** was emphasized by the observed increase in antigen processing and presentation juxtaposed with T cell *** conclusion,our data supported the efficacy of immunotherapy combined with^(177)Lu-LNC100{2.for cancer patients with FAP-positive tumors.
