This paper investigates the homogeneity of United States aircraft reconnaissance data and the impact of these data on the homogeneity of the tropical cyclone(TC)best track data for the seasons 1949-1987 generated by the China Meteorological Administration(CMA).The evaluation of the reconnaissance data shows that the minimum central sea level pressure(MCP)data are relatively homogeneous,whereas the maximum sustained wind(MSW)data show both overestimations and spurious abrupt changes.Statistical comparisons suggest that both the reconnaissance MCP and MSW were well incorporated into the CMA TC best track dataset.Although no spurious abrupt changes were evident in the reconnaissance-related best track MCP data,two spurious changepoints were identified in the remainder of the best-track MCP data.Furthermore,the influence of the reconnaissance MSWs seems to extend to the best track MSWs unrelated to reconnaissance,which might reflect the optimistic confidence in making higher estimates due to the overestimated extreme wind“observations”.In addition,the overestimation of either the reconnaissance MSWs or the best track MSWs was greater during the early decades compared to later decades,which reflects the important influence of reconnaissance data on the CMA TC best track dataset.The wind-pressure relationship(WPR)used in the CMA TC best track dataset is also evaluated and is found to overestimate the MSW,which may lead to inhomogeneity within the dataset between the aircraft reconnaissance era and the satellite era.

Materials exhibiting high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption have garnered considerable scientific and technological attention,yet encounter significant challenges.Developing new materials and innovative structural design concepts is crucial for expanding the application field of electromagnetic wave absorption.Particularly,hierarchical structure engineering has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the physical and chemical properties of materials,providing immense potential for creating versatile electromagnetic wave absorption materials.Herein,an exceptional multi-dimensional hierarchical structure was meticulously devised,unleashing the full microwave attenuation capabilities through in situ growth,selfreduction,and multi-heterogeneous interface integration.The hierarchical structure features a three-dimensional carbon framework,where magnetic nanoparticles grow in situ on the carbon skeleton,creating a necklace-like structure.Furthermore,magnetic nanosheets assemble within this framework.Enhanced impedance matching was achieved by precisely adjusting component proportions,and intelligent integration of diverse interfaces bolstered dielectric polarization.The obtain Fe_(3)O_(4)-Fe nanoparticles/carbon nanofibers/Al-Fe_(3)O_(4)-Fe nanosheets composites demonstrated outstanding performance with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−59.3 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth(RL≤−10 dB)extending up to 5.6 GHz at 2.2 mm.These notable accomplishments offer fresh insights into the precision design of high-efficient electromagnetic wave absorption materials.

ALKBH5 is a master regulator of N6-methyladenosine(m6A)modification,which plays a crucial role in many biological processes.Here,we show that ALKBH5 is required for breast tumor growth.Interestingly,PRMT6 directly methylates ALKBH5 at R283,which subsequently promotes breast tumor growth.Furthermore,arginine methylation of ALKBH5 by PRMT6 increases LDHA RNA stability via m6A demethylation,leading to increased aerobic glycolysis.Moreover,PRMT6-mediated ALKBH5 arginine methylation is confirmed in PRMT6-knockout mice.Collectively,these findings identify a PRMT6-ALKBH5-LDHA signaling axis as a novel target for the treatment of breast cancer.

This study investigates the evolution of an extreme anomalous anticyclone(AA)event over Northeast Asia,which was one of the dominant circulation systems responsible for the catastrophic extreme precipitation event in July 2021 in Henan,and further explores the significant impact of this AA on surface temperatures beneath it.The results indicate that this AA event over Northeast Asia was unprecedented in terms of intensity and duration.The AA was very persistent and extremely strong for 10 consecutive days from 13 to 22 July 2021.This long-lived and unprecedented AA led to the persistence of warmer surface temperatures beyond the temporal span of the pronounced 500-hPa anticyclonic signature as the surface air temperatures over land in Northeast Asia remained extremely warm through 29 July 2021.Moreover,the sea surface temperatures in the Sea of Japan/East Sea were extremely high for 30 consecutive days from 13 July to 11 August 2021,persisting well after the weakening or departure of this AA.These results emphasize the extreme nature of this AA over Northeast Asia in July 2021 and its role in multiple extreme climate events,even over remote regions.Furthermore,possible reasons for this long-lasting AA are explored,and it is suggested to be a byproduct of a teleconnection pattern over extratropical Eurasia during the first half of its life cycle,and of the Pacific-Japan teleconnection pattern during the latter half.

A toroidal SAW gyroscope with focused IDTs for sensitivity enhancement

A surface acoustic wave(SAW)gyroscope measures the rate of rotational angular velocity by exploiting a phenomenon known as the SAW gyroscope effect.Such a gyroscope is a great candidate for application in harsh environments because of the simplification of the suspension vibration mechanism necessary for traditional microelectromechanical system(MEMS)gyroscopes.Here,for the first time,we propose a novel toroidal standing-wave-mode SAW gyroscope using focused interdigitated transducers(FIDTs).Unlike traditional SAW gyroscopes that use linear IDTs to generate surface acoustic waves,which cause beam deflection and result in energy dissipation,this study uses FIDTs to concentrate the SAW energy based on structural features,resulting in better focusing performance and increased SAW amplitude.The experimental results reveal that the sensitivity of the structure is 1.51µV/(°/s),and the bias instability is 0.77°/s,which are improved by an order of magnitude compared to those of a traditional SAW gyroscope.Thus,the FIDT component can enhance the performance of the SAW gyroscope,demonstrating its superiority for angular velocity measurements.This work provides new insights into improving the sensitivity and performance of SAW gyroscopes.

The brittleness of cement composites makes cracks almost inevitable,producing a serious limitation on the lifespan,resilience,and safety of concrete infrastructure.To address this brittleness,self-healing concrete has been developed for regaining its mechanical and durability properties after becoming cracked,thereby promising sustainable development of concrete infrastructure.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the latest developments in self-healing concrete.It begins by summarizing the methods used to evaluate the self-healing efficiency of concrete.Next,it compares strategies for achieving healing concrete.It then discusses the typical approaches for developing self-healing concrete.Finally,critical insights are proposed to guide future studies on the development of novel self-healing concrete.This review will be useful for researchers and practitioners interested in the field of self-healing concrete and its potential to improve the durability,resilience,and safety of concrete infrastructure.

Knowledge graph technology is widely applied in the domain of general knowledge reasoning with an excellent performance.For fine-grained professional fields,professional knowledge graphs can provide more accurate information in practical industrial scenarios.Based on an aviation assembly domain-specific knowledge graph,the article constructs a joint knowledge reasoning model,which combines a named entity recognition model and a subgraph embedding learning model.When performing knowledge reasoning tasks,the two models vectorize entities,relationships and entity attributes in the same space,so as to share parameters and optimize learning efficiency.The knowledge reasoning model,which provides intelligent question answering services,is able to reduce the assembly error rate and improve the assembly efficiency.The system can accurately solve general knowledge reasoning problems in the assembly process in actual industrial scenarios of general assembly and component assembly under interference-free conditions.Finally,this paper compares the proposed knowledge reasoning model based on knowledge representation learning and the question-answering system based on large-scale pre-trained models.In the application scenario of system functional testing in general assembly,the joint model attains an accuracy rate of 95%,outperforming GPT with 78%accuracy and enhanced representation through knowledge integration with 71%accuracy.

Conventional static glazing sometimes has poor performance in energy,visual,and thermal aspects.In this thesis,a series of simulations of an office building were done to compare the performance of conventional static glazing,exterior static and kinetic shades,dynamic glazing,and dynamic glazing working together with static or kinetic shades as a combinatorial system.This thesis introduced a method for designers to make decisions among multiple shading and glazing options.A scoring system was developed to evaluate the overall performance.Energy,visual and thermal performance all had the same weight.Energy uses included annual Energy Use Intensity(EUI)and peak cooling loads of the hottest day of the year.Visual performance included maximizing daylight and minimizing glare on the fall equinox day.Thermal performance included Predicted Mean Vote(PMV)Index which determined thermal comfort based on occupants’sensations and Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied(PPD)which indicated the levels of thermal discomfort situations.The prediction was that the combination of dynamic glazing and kinetic shade would have better comprehensive performance and earn higher scores than other options.

Ion and electron motions in the outer electron diffusion region of collisionless magnetic reconnection

Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations are performed to study the coupling between ion and electron motions in collisionless magnetic reconnection.The electron diffusion region(EDR),where the electron motions are demagnetized,is found to have a two-layer structure:an inner EDR near the reconnection site and an outer EDR that is elongated to nearly 10 ion inertial lengths in the outflow direction.In the inner EDR,the speed of the electron outflow increases when the electrons move away from the X line.In the outer EDR,the speed of the electron outflow first increases and then decreases until the electrons reach the boundary of the outer EDR.In the boundary of the outer EDR,the magnetic field piles up and forms a depolarization front.From the perspective of the fluid,a force analysis on the formation of electron and ion outflows has also been investigated.Around the X line,the electrons are accelerated by the reconnection electric field in the out-of-plane direction.When the electrons move away from the X line,we find that the Lorentz force converts the direction of the accelerated electrons to the x direction,forming an electron outflow.Both electric field forces and electron gradient forces tend to drag the electron outflow.Ion acceleration along the x direction is caused by the Lorentz force,whereas the pressure gradient force tends to decelerate the ion outflow.Although these two terms are important,their effects on ions are almost offset.The Hall electric field force does positive work on ions and is not negligible.The ions are continuously accelerated,and the ion and electron outflow velocities are almost the same near the depolarization front.
