Human B7-H3 binds to Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-like transcript 2 (TLT-2) and enhances T cell responses

The B7 family member B7-H3 is broadly expressed in many tissue and tumor types. B7-H3 expression is induced on some immune cells;however, its immunological function remains controversial, because both immunoenhancing and immunoinhibitory effects have been reported in human and mouse systems. We have previously reported the following: 1) murine B7-H3 specifically bound to Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM)-like transcript 2 (TLT-2, TREML2), a member of the TREM family of receptors;and 2) the B7-H3:TLT-2 pathway up-regulated T cell responses. However, the expression and function of human TLT-2 has not yet been clarified. A recent study found no evidence to support the existence of an interacttion between human B7-H3 and TLT-2. In this study, we demonstrated that human B7-H3 binds to TLT-2 and augments T cell responses. Human and mouse B7-H3Ig chimeric proteins cross-interacted with both human and mouse species of TLT-2-transduced cells. Human TLT-2 was expressed on freshly isolated, peripheral blood B cells and monocytes, and subpopulations of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. Human TLT-2 expression on T cells did not correlate with na?ve or memory phenotypes and was diminished after culture, despite the presence of mitogenic stimuli. Constitutive TLT-2 expression on monocytes was also down-regulated after culture. Human B7-H3 transfectants augment IL-2 production from TLT-2-transduced T cell hybridomas, and IFN-γ production from peripheral blood CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. The enhanced responses were inhibited by the addition of anti-TLT-2 mAbs, suggesting TLT-2-mediated costimulatory effect. Our results demonstrate the existence of a functional interaction between human B7-H3 and TLT-2, and the restricted expression of TLT-2 on T cells and monocytes.

Enhancement of the thermoelectric performance of half-metallic full-Heusler Mn_(2)VAl alloys via antisite defect engineering and Si partial substitution

A half-metallic full-Heusler Mn_(2)VAl alloy is a potential p-type thermoelectric material that can directly generate electricity from waste heat via the Seebeck *** practical use,the Seebeck coefficient S of Mn_(2)VAl should be increased while maintaining a high electrical conductivity s from its half-metallic ***,we achieved this objective through antisite defect ***,it was predicted that the S was maximized by regulating partial density of states of majority-spin sp-electrons through the control of the fraction of antisite defect,f_(AD),between V and Al atoms in Mn_(2)***-mentally,a significant increase in S and a slight decrease in s were observed for an Mn_(2)VAl sample with an optimal fAD=33%,enhancing the thermoelectric power factor PF by 2.7 times from an Mn_(2)VAl sample with fAD=14%.Furthermore,we combined the antisite defect engineering with a partial substitution *** Mn_(2)V(Al_(0.96)Si_(0.04))sample with fAD=33%exhibited the highest PF=4.5×10^(-4)W·m^(-1)·K^(-2)at 767 K among the *** maximum dimensionless figure-of-merit zT of the Mn_(2)V(Al_(0.96)Si_(0.04))sample with f_(AD)=33%was measured to be 3.4×10^(-2)at 767 K,which is the highest among the p-type half-metallic full-Heusler alloys.

BACKGROUND Tumor size impacts the technical difficulty and histological curability of colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD);however,the preoperative evaluation of tumor size is often different from histological *** influential factors on failure to obtain an accurate tumor size evaluation could help prepare optimal conditions for safer and more reliable *** This was a retrospective study conducted at a single institution.A total of 377 lesions removed by colorectal ESD at our hospital between April 2018 and March 2022 were *** first assessed the difference in size with an absolute per-centage of the scaling ***,we compared the clinicopatho-logical characteristics of the correct scaling group(>-33%and33%),which was further subdivided into the underscaling group(-33%or less of the discrepancy)and overscaling group(33%or more of the discrepancy),*** secondary outcome measures,parameters on size estimation were compared between the underscaling and correct scaling groups,as well as between the overscaling and correct scaling ***,multivariate analysis was performed in terms of the following relevant parameters on size estimation:Pathological size,location,and possible influential factors(P<0.1)in the univariate *** The mean of absolute percentage in the scaling discordance was 21%,and 91 lesions were considered to be incorrectly estimated in *** incorrect scaling was significantly remarkable in larger lesions(40 mm vs 28 mm;P<0.001)and less experience(P<0.001),and these two factors were influential on the underscaling(75 lesions;P<0.001).Conversely,compared with the correct scaling group,16 lesions in the overscaling group were significantly small(20 mm vs 28 mm;P<0.001),and the small lesion size was influential on the overscaling(P=0.002).CONCLUSION Lesions indicated for colorectal ESD tended to be underestimate

Alternating minimization for data-driven computational elasticity from experimental data: kernel method for learning constitutive manifold

Data-driven computing in elasticity attempts to directly use experimental data on material,without constructing an empirical model of the constitutive relation,to predict an equilibrium state of a structure subjected to a specified external *** that a data set comprising stress-strain pairs of material is available,a data-driven method using the kernel method and the regularized least-squares was developed to extract a manifold on which the points in the data set approximately lie(kanno 2021,***.).From the perspective of physical experiments,stress field cannot be directly measured,while displacement and force fields are *** this study,we extend the previous kernel method to the situation that pairs of displacement and force,instead of pairs of stress and strain,are available as an input data set.A new regularized least-squares problem is formulated in this problem setting,and an alternating minimization algorithm is proposed to solve the problem.

A note on a family of proximal gradient methods for quasi-static incremental problems in elastoplastic analysis

Accelerated proximal gradient methods have recently been developed for solving quasi-static incremental problems of elastoplastic analysis with some different yield *** has been demonstrated through numerical experiments that these methods can outperform conventional optimization-based approaches in computational ***,in literature these algorithms are described individually for specific yield criteria,and hence there exists no guide for application of the algorithms to other yield *** short paper presents a general form of algorithm design,independent of specific forms of yield criteria,that unifies the existing proximal gradient *** interpretation is also given to each step of the presented general algorithm so that each update rule is linked to the underlying physical laws in terms of mechanical quantities.

Despite the similarity of ionic liquid and zwitterion, their some properties such as conductivity and hydrophobicity are different. Here we developed a novel phosphonium salt having a dynamic covalent bond between anion and cation, enabling reversible structural shift between free ion pair and zwitterion. With the phosphonium salt, control of the macroscopic phase behavior in aqueous solution, i.e. forming mono-or biphasic systems, upon exposure to an acid or base was reversibly achieved, based on the structural shift of the phosphonium salt. CO_2/N_2 bubbling reversibly changed the phase behavior as well as acid/base, leading to green separation systems.

Effect of Plate Position and Size for Self-Induced Flow Oscillation of Underexpanded Supersonic Jet Impinging on Perpendicular Plate

When the underexpanded supersonic jet impinges on the obstacle, it is well known that the self-induced flow oscillation occurs at the specific condition of the pressure ratio in the flowfield, the position of an obstacle and so on. This oscillation is related with the noise problems of aeronautical and other industrial engineering so that the characteristic and the mechanism of self-induced flow oscillation have to be cleared to control the various noise problems. But, it seems that the characteristics of the oscillated flowfield and the mechanism of oscillation have to be more clear to control the oscillation. This paper aims to clarify the effect of the plate position and the width for the self-induced flow oscillation of an underexpanded supersonic jet impinging on the perpendicular plate by the experiment and the numerical analysis. From the results, it is clear that the occurring domain of the self-induced flow oscillation and its dimension strongly depend on the plate position and the width.

Shock Wave in Supersonic Moist Air Jet for a Low Pressure Ratio

In the present study,a computational fluid dynamics work was performed to investigate the occurrence of the shock wave by condensation in supersonic moist air *** unsteady,compressible axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equation is solved by TVD(Total Variation Diminishing) scheme in this *** numerical simulations have been performed for low pressure ratio and various *** results show the occurrence of the shock wave in supersonic moist air jet for a low pressure ratio when Mach disk does not occur,depending on humidity of the air.

Characteristic and Mechanism of Pressure Fluctuation Caused by Self-Induced Oscillation of Supersonic Impinging Jet

When the underexpanded supersonic jet impinges on the obstacle, it is well known that the self-induced flow os- cillation occurs. This oscillation depends on the pressure ratio in the flowfield, the position of an obstacle and is related with the noise problems of aeronautical and other industrial engineering. The characteristic and the mechanism of self-induced flow oscillation, have to be clarified to control various noise problems. But, it seems that the characteristics of the oscillated flowfield and the mechanism of an oscillation have to be more cleared to control the oscillation. This paper aims to clarify the effect of the pressure ratio and the obstacle position and the mechanism of self-induced flow oscillation by numerical analysis and experiment, when the underexpanded su- personic jet impinges on the cylindrical body. From the result of this study, it is clear that occurrence of the self-induced flow osciUation depends on the pressure balance in the flowfield.
