Growth of Micropropagated Solanum tuberosum L.Plantlets under Artificial Solar Spectrum and Different Mono-and Polychromatic LED Lights

In agriculture,LED light sources have increasingly replaced the standard luminescent lamps and have acquired an important role in plant micropropagation.We studied the effect of different light sources such as narrow-band LEDs(bright blue,blue,green,yellow,deep red,and red)and wide-band LEDs(cold white,white,warm white,full spectrum,and an artificial solar spectrum sun box constructed by us)on development of potato plantlets in vitro.White luminescent lamps were used as a control.The light intensity of 49μmol·m^(-2)·s^(-1)was provided in all light treatments.We showed that the long-wave narrow-band light treatments were inapplicable for potato micropropagation,because plantlets were weak with small leaves,inhibited roots,and significantly elongated stems.Blue lights provided growth of shortened plantlets with large leaves,well-growing roots,and abundant green mass.The chlorophyll content was lower under blue and bright blue light and was at the same level in the remained treatments.Significant differences in the stomatal apparatus development were observed depending on the light source.These differences were not always reflected in the plantlet phenotype:e.g.,plantlets under blue and bright blue lights showed no differences in any characteristics except stomatal density and size of stomatal guard cells.We found no significant effect of blue light portion in the white lights and full spectrum on plantlet growth.An artificial solar spectrum sun box was the most suitable for potato micropropagation,because it supported the development of plantlets with good fitness,uniform internodes length,abundant roots and green mass accumulation.

Cluster Analysis of the Roma-BZCAT Blazars

Based on the collected multiwavelength data, namely in the radio(NvSS, FIRST, RATAN-600), IR(WISE),optical(Pan-STARRS), Uv(GALEX), and X-ray(ROSAT, Swift-XRT) ranges, we have performed a cluster analysis for the blazars of the Roma-BZCAT catalog. Using two machine learning methods, namely a combination of PCA with k-means clustering and Kohonen's self-organizing maps(SOMs), we have constructed an independent classification of the blazars(five classes) and compared the classes with the known Roma-BZCAT classification(FSRQs, BL Lacs, galaxy-dominated BL Lacs, and blazars of an uncertain type) as well as with the high synchrotron peaked(HSP) blazars from the 3HSP catalog and blazars from the TevCat catalog. The obtained groups demonstrate concordance with the BL Lac/FSRQ classification along with a continuous character of the change in the properties. The group of HSP blazars stands out against the overall distribution. We examine the characteristics of the five groups and demonstrate distinctions in their spectral energy distribution shapes. The effectiveness of the clustering technique for objective analysis of multiparametric arrays of experimental data is demonstrated.

A series of Ti(Ⅳ) dichloride and dialkoxide com plexes with phenoxyimine ligands containing fluorinated and nonfluorinated aliphatic imine fragments have been synthesized.The molecular structures of complexes 1 and 4 were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.The complexes adopt a distorted octahedral coordination structure around the titanium atom and two oxygen atoms are situated in trans position while two nitrogen atoms and two outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) are situated in cis position.Effect of activators(MMAO-12 and combinations Et_nAICl_(3-n)+Bu_(2)Mg) and outgoing ligand(Cl or iPrO) nature on the catalytic activity and properties of the resulting polymers was studied.The Ti complexes,despite the nature of the outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) in the presence of Al/Mg activators,was found to display a high ethylene polymerization activity in the range 1600-3830 kg_(polymer)·mol_(Ti)^(-1)·h^(-1)·atm^(-1) with a viscosity average molecular weight(M_v) value in the range 1.1×10~6-7.1×10~6 Dalton(Da).The resulting UHMWPE can be processed by a solventless method into high-strength and high-modulus oriented films.The rheological characteristics of a polymer melt have been studied.The absence of a cross-over point did not allow to compare the values of the molecular weight distribution of polymers obtained on fluorinated and non-fluorinated pre-catalysts,however,the estimation of the entanglement density is in good agreement with the mechanical characteristics of oriented film s.Upon activation with methylalumoxane,the activity of the com plexes decreased very significantly;however,a polymer with a molecular weight of about 12 million Da was obtained.In the process of ethylene/octene-1 copolymerization,fluorine-containing precatalysts showed a clear advantage over non-fluorinated analogues both in activity and in comonomer content.

Both numerical and experimental studies of the stability and electronic properties of barium–sodium metaborate Ba_(2)Na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F(P63/m) at pressures up to 10 GPa have been carried out. Electronic-structure calculations with HSE06 hybrid functional showed that Ba_(2)Na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F has an indirect band gap of 6.289 ev. A numerical study revealed the decomposition of Ba_(2)Na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F into the BaB_(2)O_(4),Na BO_(2), and NaF phases above 3.4 GPa at 300 K. Subsequent high-pressure high-temperature experiments performed using ‘Discoverer-1500’DIA-type apparatus at pressures of 3 and 6 GPa and temperature of 1173 K confirmed the stability of Ba_(2)Na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F at 3 GPa and its decomposition into BaB_(2)O_(4), NaBO_(2), and NaF at 6 GPa, which was verified by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis and Raman spectroscopy. The observed Raman bands of the Ba_(2)Na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F phase were assigned by comparing the experimental and calculated spectra. The experimental Raman spectra of decomposition reaction products obtained at 6 GPa suggest the origin of a new high-pressure modification of barium metaborate BaB_(2)O_(4).

BACKGROUND Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is a multifactorial disease that predominantly affects premature neonates.Intestinal dysbiosis plays a critical role in NEC pathogenesis in premature neonates.The main risk factor for NEC in term infants is mesenteric hypoperfusion associated with ductaldependent congenital heart disease(CHD)that eventually leads to intestinal ischemia.The incidence of NEC in neonates with critical CHD is 6.8%-13%.However,the role of the intestinal microbiome in NEC pathogenesis in infants with ductal-dependent CHD remains unclear.CASE SUMMARY A male term neonate with right atrial isomerism underwent modified Blalock-Taussig shunt placement on the 14^(th)day of life and had persistent mesenteric hypoperfusion after surgery.The patient had episodes of NEC stageⅡA on the 1^(st)and 28^(th)days after cardiac surgery.Fecal microbial composition was analyzed before and after cardiac surgery by sequencing region v4 of the 16S rRNA gene.Before surgery,species belonging to genera veillonella and Clostridia and class Gammaproteobacteria were detected,Bifidobacteriaceae showed a low abundance.The first NEC episode was associated with postoperative hemodynamic instability,intestinal ischemiareperfusion injury during cardiopulmonary bypass,and a high abundance of Clostridium paraputrificum(Clostridium sensu stricto I)(56.1%).Antibacterial therapy after the first NEC episode resulted in increased abundance of Gammaproteobacteria,decreased abundance of Firmicutes,and low alpha diversity.These changes in the microbial composition promoted the growth of Clostridium sensu strictoⅠ(72.0%)before the second NEC episode.CONCLUSION A high abundance of Clostridium sensu strictoⅠand mesenteric hypoperfusion may have contributed to NEC in the present case.

Waxes in asphaltenes of crude oils and wax deposits

Composition and molecular mass distribution of n-alkanes in asphaltenes of crude oils of different ages and in wax deposits formed in the borehole equipment were studied. In asphaltenes, n-alkanes from C12 to C60 were detected. The high molecular weight paraffins in asphaltenes would form a crystalline phase with a melting point of 80–90 ℃. The peculiarities of the redistribution of high molecular paraffin hydrocarbons between oil and the corresponding wax deposit were detected. In the oils, the high molecular weight paraffinic hydrocarbons C50–C60were found, which were not practically detected in the corresponding wax deposits.

Taxonomic Composition and Spatial Distribution of Meiofauna Community from a Sandy Intertidal Zone in Sishili Bay, Yellow Sea Coast (Northern China)

The meiofauna composition and trophic groups of the nematode communities have been studied at a sandy intertidal zone in Sishili Bay along the Yantai coast(Yellow Sea,China).Nematoda was dominant among the 11 groups of meiofauna.The meiofaunal densities were low,ranging between 111±47 and 542±131 ind./10 cm^(2).Results obtained from the correlation analysis made it possible to determine several factors that influence species composition and distribution.Generally,sediment granulometry significantly affected the communities.The highest abundance was found in fine-grained sediments(318.77±126 ind./10 cm^(2))com-pared to coarse-grained sediments(175±82 ind./10 cm2).Nematodes were predominant in all studied sites.A total of 70 species be-longing to 52 genera and 18 families were identified in the study area.There was a significant difference in nematode abundance(ANOvA,F=2.38,Pvel of species diversity in sediments composed mainly of very-fine sands(>63μm),with dominant species belonging to the genus Bathylaimus,Ptycho-laimellus,Spirinia,and Sabatieria.The trophic groups were dominated by non-selective deposit feeders(40.7%)and epistrate feed-ers(41.29%).In contrast,the species composition in medium grain sands was characterized by a low species diversity index and a high Simpson dominance index.Nematode communities showed similar dominant species compositions belonging to a single genus Bathylaimus,Enoplolaimus,and Oncholaimus,and in terms of trophic structure-representatives of deposit feeders(46.15%),preda-tors,and omnivores(64.71%)prevailed.The divergence of meiofaunal community structures can be explained by abiotic factors such as sediment grain size,salinity,and organic carbon content.Specifically,sediment particle size can explain the diversity of nematodes at the level of in abundance,diversity indices,and trophic structure.The highest nematode density and diversity coincided with the highest percentage of very fine sands.

Shrub expansion into arctic and alpine tundra is one of the prominent vegetation changes currently underway.We studied the expansion of shrub vegetation into high elevation tundra in the Kvarkush Range of the Northern Ural mountains,Russia.Age structure analysis of the dominant shrub Juniperus sibirica Burgsd.seems to support ongoing upslope advance of shrubs,a process particularly active in the second half of the 20 th century.We found a close connection between the expansion of shrub vegetation and the general change in climatic conditions of the cold season(months with mean airtemperature below 0°Сfrom November to March).In general,the greatest influence on the distribution of J.sibirica is exerted by the climate conditions of the beginning(November-January)and the end(March)of the cold season.With increasing elevation,the correlation coefficients between the establishment of J.sibirica shrubs and the precipitation of the beginning of the cold season increased,and reached maximum values at the top elevation level of the study area.However,the upwards shift of J.sibirica into typical mountain tundra does not lead to changes in the ecological structure of vegetation at this stage,but simply a decrease in the area of mountain tundra.

The brain has an exceptionally high requirement for energy metabolism,with glucose serving as the exclusive energy source.Cancers,including glioblastoma,have a high glucose uptake and rely on aerobic glycolysis for energy metabolism.The alternation of high-efficiency oxidative phosphorylation to a low-efficiency aerobic glycolysis pathway(Warburg effect)provides macromolecules for biosynthesis and proliferation.Current research indicates that the specific metabolism in the tumor tissue and nonnal brain tissue in the glioma allows the use of 5-aminolevulinic acid(5 ALA)-induced protoporphyrin IX(PpIX)and methylene blue(MB)to monitor and correct the development of the tumor.The focus is on the detection of the differences between tumor cells and tumorassociated macrophages/microglia using spectroscopic and microscopic methods,based on the fluorescent signals and the difference in the drug accumulation of photosensitizers(PSs).Since 5 ALA has long been used effectively in the clinic for fluorescent surgical navigation,it was employed as an agent to identify the localization of tumor tissue and study its composition,particularly tumor and immune cells(macrophages),which have also been shown to actively accumulate PpIX.However,since PpIX is photodynamically active,it can be considered effective as the main target of tumor tissue for further successful photodynamic therapy.MB was employed to visualize resident microglia,which is important for their activation/deactivation to prevent the reprogramming of the immune cells by the tumor.Thus,using two drugs,it is possible to prevent crosstalk between tumor cells and the immune cells of different geneses.

Evolution of clustered magnetic nulls in a turbulent-like reconnection region in the magnetotail

Magnetic null points and flux ropes play important roles in the three-dimensional process of magnetic reconnection. In this study, a cluster of null points are reconstructed in the reconnection region in the magnetotail by applying a fitting-reconstruction method to measurements from the Cluster mission. The number of reconstructed null points varies rapidly, presenting a turbulentlike evolution of the magnetic structure. The electron density and the flux of the accelerated electrons were enhanced in this turbulent-like region. During this unstable reconnection process, a B–As–B null structure was formed, showing flux rope features and resembling a secondary island in the observation.
