Fluid-induced high-temperature metasomatism at Rundv?gshetta in the Lützow-Holm Complex, East Antarctica: Implications for the role of brine during granulite formation

We report new petrological, phase equilibria modeling, and fluid inclusion data for pelitic and mafic granulites from Rundv?gshetta in the highest-grade region of the Neoproterozoic Lützow-Holm Complex(LHC),East Antarctica, and provide unequivocal evidence for fluid-rock interaction and high-temperature metasomatism in the presence of brine fluid. The studied locality is composed dominantly of well-foliated pelitic granulite(K-feldspar+quartz+sillimanite+garnet+ilmenite) with foliation-parallel bands and/or layers of mafic granulite(plagioclase+orthopyroxene+garnet+ilmenite+quartz+biotite). The boundary between the two lithologies is defined by thin(about 1 -20 cm in thick) garnet-rich layers with a common mineral assemblage of garnet+plagioclase+quartz+ilmenite+biotite ? orthopyroxene. Systematic increase of grossular and decrease of pyrope contents in garnet as well as decreasing Mg/(Fe+Mg) ratio of biotite from the pelitic granulite to garnet-rich rock and mafic granulite suggest that the garnet-rich layer was formed by metasomatic interaction between the two granulite lithologies. Phase equilibria modeling in the system NCKFMASHTO demonstrates that the metasomatism took place at 850 -860℃, which is slightly lower than the peak metamorphism of this region, and the modal abundance of garnet is the highest along the metapeliteemetabasite boundary(up to 40%), which is consistent with the field and thin section observations. The occurrence of brine(7.0 -10.9 wt.% Na Cleqfor ice melting or 25.1 -25.5 wt.% NaC leqfor hydrohalite melting) fluid inclusions as a primary phase trapped within plagioclase in the garnet-rich layer and the occurrence of Cl-rich biotite(Cl = 0.22 -0.60 wt.%) in the metasomatic rock compared to that in pelitic(0.15 -0.24 wt.%) and mafic(0.06-0.13 wt.%) granulites suggest infiltration of brine fluid could have given rise to the high-temperature metasomatism. One of the most important pathways in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) is the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) pathway. This pathway affects several crucial processes in tumor development and progression,including tumor cell proliferation,apoptosis regulation,angiogenesis,and metastatic *** EGFR is currently being intensely *** are witnessing the development of a number of potential molecular-inhibiting treatments for application in clinical *** the last decade,the tyrosine kinase(TK) domain of the EGFR was identified in NSCLC patients,and it has responded very well with a dramatic clinical improvement to TK inhibitors such are gefitinib and ***,there were primary and/or secondary resistance to these treatments,as shown by clinical *** molecular biology studies provided some explanations for the drug resistance *** molecular mechanisms of resistance need to be *** in-depth understanding of these targeted-therapy resistance may help us explore new strategies for overcoming or reversing the resistance to these inhibitors for the future of NSCLC treatment.

The Development of a Fluorine Removal Agent UsingIncinerated Ash (Ⅱ)

The compounds of aluminum phosphate are used to remove the fluorine compounds from wastewater. The fluorine removal agent using the ash of sewage sludge and the municipal waste in addition to sulfuric acid were investigated. The removal agent showed high removal performance, and the fluorine concentration of the treated water reached below 0.1 mg/L, and the noticeable elution of the harmful metals from the ashes were not found in this experiment.

Structure and Bonding in Some Gd(Ⅲ) Metal Complexes Studied by Three-Dimensional X-Ray Analysis and ^(155)Gd Mssbauer Spectroscopy

Some functional lanthanide metal complexes, such as acetylacetonato complexes, ethylenediaminetetraacetato complexes, were successfully applied for diagnostic technique. The authors are interested in investigating the structure and bonding in lanthanide and actinide metal complexes using 166Er, t55Gd, and 237Np Mtissbauer spectroscopies in connection with single-crystal and/or powder X-ray diffraction, making clear the differences on their structures as well as the differences in the participation of 4f and 5f orbitals in the chemical bonds. In this article, the crystal structures of two novel Gd（Ⅲ） acetylacetonato complexes, Gd（pta）3 · 2H2O （pta = 1,1,1 -trifluoro-5,5-dimethy 1-2,4-hexanedione） and Gd（bfa）3 · 2H2O （bfa = 1, 1, 1 -trifluoro-4-phenyl-2-4-butanedione） were reported. Though both of them were dihydrate and had distorted square antiprismatical structure, Gd（pta）3 · 2H2O crystallizes in the P 2 1/n （#14） monoclinic space group and its lattice parameters are a = 1.4141（6） nm, b = 1.0708（3） nm, c =2.2344（4） nm, β =952.4（2）°, and Gd（bfa）3· 2H2O crystallizes in P 212121 orthorhombic space group and its lattice parameters were a = 1.322 （1） nm, b = 2.295 （1） nm, c = 1. 0786（8） nm. In the meantime, the authors had finished a systematic investigation on the ^155Gd Mossbauer isomer shift （δ） of various Gd（Ⅲ） metal complexes having a different coordination number （C.N.） and different ratios coordinating oxygen to nitrogen. A tendency for the 6 value to decrease with an increase in the C.N, and the number of the nitrogen atom coordinating to Gd was confirmed. This indicated that the Gd-O and/or Gd-N bond in the investigated Gd（Ⅲ） metal complexes had a small covalent contribution, which was possible to be deduced from the O and/or N atoms of the lisands donating electrons to 6s, 5d, and 4f orbitals of Gd.

Cardiac amyloidosis is an infiltrative and restrictive cardiomyopathy caused by the extracellular deposition of amyloid fib-rils within the heart as systemic amyloidosis,lead-ing to heart failure,reduced quality of life,and death.[1]There are two major amyloid fibril proteins that af-fect the heart:amyloid immunoglobulin light chain(AL)and amyloid transthyretin(ATTR).The latter is further subdivided into wild-type ATTR and variant types based on the presence of a mutation in the transthyretin gene.

Different effects of grain boundary scattering on charge and heat transport in polycrystalline platinum and gold nanofilms

The in-plane electrical and thermal conductivities of several polycrystalline platinum and gold nanofilms with different thicknesses are measured in a temperature range between the boiling point of liquid nitrogen （77K） and room temperature by using the direct current heating method. The result shows that both the electrical and thermal conductivities of the nanofilms reduce greatly compared with their corresponding bulk values. However, the electrical conductivity drop is considerably greater than the thermal conductivity drop, which indicates that the influence of the internal grain boundary on heat transport is different from that of charge transport, hence leading to the violation of the Wiedemann-Franz law. We build an electron relaxation model based on Matthiessen＇s rule to analyse the thermal conductivity and employ the Mayadas ＆ Shatzkes theory to analyse the electrical conductivity. Moreover, a modified Wiedemann-Franz law is provided in this paper, the obtained results from which are in good agreement with the experimental data.

Selective Monoprotection of Symmetrical Diols in a Flow Reactor

Desymmetrization reactions provide a powerful approach for the construction of complex molecules. Various methods have been developed for the selective monoprotection of symmetrical diols;however, their application to large-scale operations is limited. In this study, the monotetrahydropyranylation of symmetrical diols in a flow reactor has been developed, whereby the length of the flow reactor tube and the amount of acid were optimized. A higher selectivity for the monoprotected derivative was observed when the reaction was performed in a flow reactor compared with that observed in a conventional batch experiment. The efficient flow method developed herein can be applied to large-scale synthesis by numbering up the flow reactor without affecting the selectivity and yield. Since monoprotection can be achieved without using a large excess of diol, our developed flow method is effective when expensive diol must be used.

Direct Simulation Methods for Scalar-Wave Envelopes in Two-Dimensional Layered Random Media Based on the Small-Angle Scattering Approximation

This study presents stochastic methods to simulate wave envelopes in layeredrandom media. High-frequency Seismograms of small earthquakes are so complexdue to lithospheric inhomogeneity that seismologists often analyze wave envelopesrather than wave traces to quantify the subsurface inhomogeneity. Since thestatistical properties of the inhomogeneity vary regionally, it is important to developand examine direct envelope simulation methods for non-uniform random media. Asa simple example, this study supposes planewave propagation through two-layer randommedia in 2-D composed of weak and strong inhomogeneity zones. The characteristicspatial-scale of the inhomogeneity is supposed to be larger than the wavelength,where small-angle scattering around the forward direction dominates large-angle *** envelope simulation methods based on the small-angle scattering approximationare examined. One method is to solve a differential equation for the twofrequencymutual coherence function with the Markov approximation. The other isto solve the stochastic ray bending process by using the Monte Carlo method basedon the Markov approximation for the mutual coherence function. The resultant waveenvelopes of the two methods showed excellent coincidence both for uniform and fortwo-layer random media. Furthermore, we confirmed the validity of the two methodscomparing with the envelopes made from the finite difference simulations of *** two direct envelope simulation methods presented in this study can be a mathematicalbase for the study of high-frequency wave propagation through randomlyinhomogeneous lithosphere in seismology.
