Unlocking the stable interface in aqueous zinc-ion battery with multifunctional xylose-based electrolyte additives

The growth of dendrites and the side reactions occurring at the Zn anode pose significant challenges to the commercialization of aqueous Zn-ion batteries（AZIBs）. These challenges arise from the inherent conflict between mass transfer and electrochemical kinetics. In this study, we propose the use of a multifunctional electrolyte additive based on the xylose（Xylo） molecule to address these issues by modulating the solvation structure and electrode/electrolyte interface, thereby stabilizing the Zn anode. The introduction of the additive alters the solvation structure, creating steric hindrance that impedes charge transfer and then reduces electrochemical kinetics. Furthermore, in-situ analyses demonstrate that the reconstructed electrode/electrolyte interface facilitates stable and rapid Zn2+ion migration and suppresses corrosion and hydrogen evolution reactions. As a result, symmetric cells incorporating the Xylo additive exhibit significantly enhanced reversibility during the Zn plating/stripping process, with an impressively long lifespan of up to 1986 h, compared to cells using pure ZnSO4electrolyte. When combined with a polyaniline cathode, the full cells demonstrate improved capacity and long-term cyclic stability. This work offers an effective direction for improving the stability of Zn anode via electrolyte design, as well as highperformance AZIBs.

Identification of resistant pharmaceuticals in ozonation using QSAR modeling and their fate in electro-peroxone process

The abatements of 89 pharmaceuticals in secondary effluent by ozonation and the electro-peroxone(E-peroxone)process were *** on the results,a quantitative structure-activity relationship(QSAR)model was developed to explore relationship between chemical structure of pharmaceuticals and their oxidation rates by *** orthogonal projection to latent structure(OPLS)method was used to identify relevant chemical descriptors of the pharmaceuticals,from large number of descriptors,for model *** resulting QSAR model,based on 44 molecular descriptors related to the ozone reactivity of the pharmaceuticals,showed high goodness of fit(R^(2)=0.963)and predictive power(Q^(2)=0.84).After validation,the model was used to predict second-order rate constants of 491 pharmaceuticals of special concern(k_(O_(3)))including the 89 studied *** predicted k_(O_(3))values and experimentally determined pseudo-first order rate constants of the pharmaceuticals’abatement during ozonation(k_(OZ))and the E-peroxone process(k_(EP))were then used to assess effects of switching from ozonation to the E-peroxone process on removal of these *** results indicate that the E-peroxone process could accelerate the abatement of pharmaceuticals with relatively low ozone reactivity(k_(O_(3))<∼10^(2)M^(−1)⋅s^(−1))than ozonation(3–10 min versus 5–20 min).The validated QSAR model predicted 66 pharmaceuticals to be highly O_(3)-*** developed QSAR model may be used to estimate the ozone reactivity of pharmaceuticals of diverse chemistry and thus predict their fate in ozone-based processes.

Fate and removal of typical pharmaceutical and personal care products in a wastewater treatment plant from Beijing： a mass balance study

The fate and removal of pharmaceuticals and personal care products （PPCPs） in wastewater treatment plants （WWTPs） has received great attention during the last decade. Numerous data concerning concentrations in the water phase can be found in the literature, however corresponding data from sludge as well as associated mass balance calculations are very limited. In the present study, the adsorbed and dissolved concentrations of 9 PPCPs were investigated in each unit of a WWTP in Beijing, China. Based on the calculation of mass balance, the relative mass distribution and removal efficiency of each target compound was obtained at each process. The amount of PPCPs entering into the WWTP ranged from 12 g·d^-1 to 3848 g·d^-1. Five target compounds （caffeine, chloramphenicol, bezafibrate, clofibric acid, and N,N- diethyl-meta-toluamide） were effectively removed, with rates of 57%-100%. Negative removal efficiencies were obtained for sulpiride, metoprolol, nalidixic acid, and carbamazepine, ranging from -19% to -79%. PPCPs mainly existed in dissolved form （≥92%） in both the raw influent and the final effluent. The sludge cake carried a much lower amount of PPCPs （17 g·d^-1） compared with the discharged effluent （402 g·d^-1）. In A^2/O treatment tanks, the anaerobic and anoxic tanks showed good performance for PPCPs removal, and the amount of adsorbed PPCPs was increased. The results reveal that both the dissolved and the adsorbed phases should be considered when assessing the removal capacity of each A^2/O tank.

Evaluation of the technoeconomic feasibility of electrochemical hydrogen peroxide production for decentralized water treatment

This study evaluated the feasibility of electrochemical hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)production with gas diffusion electrode(GDE)for decentralized water *** black-polytetrafluoroethylene GDEs were prepared and tested in a continuous flow electrochemical cell for H2O2 production from oxygen *** showed that because of the effective oxygen transfer in GDEs,the electrode maintained high apparent current efficiencies(ACEs,>80%)for H_(2)O_(2) production over a wide current density range of 5–400 mA/cm^(2),and H_(2)O_(2) production rates as high as~202 mg/h/cm^(2) could be ***-term stability test showed that the GDE maintained high ACEs(>85%)and low energy consumption(<10 kWh/kg H2O2)for H_(2)O_(2) production for 42 d(~1000 h).However,the ACEs then decreased to~70%in the following 4 days because water flooding of GDE pores considerably impeded oxygen transport at the late stage of the *** on an electrode lifetime of 46 days,the overall cost for H2O2 production was estimated to be~0.88$/kg H_(2)O_(2),including an electricity cost of 0.61$/kg and an electrode capital cost of 0.27$/*** a 9 cm^(2) GDE and 40 mA/cm^(2) current density,~2–4 mg/L of H2O2 could be produced on site for the electro-peroxone treatment of a 1.2 m^(3)/d groundwater flow,which considerably enhanced ibuprofen abatement compared with ozonation alone(~43%–59%vs.7%).These findings suggest that electrochemical H_(2)O_(2) production with GDEs holds great promise for the development of compact treatment technologies for decentralized water treatment at a household and community level.

Optimization of crude enzyme preparation methods for analysis of glutamine synthetase activity in phytoplank-ton and field samples

Glutamine synthetase （GS） is an important enzyme involved in nitrogen assimilation and metabolism in marine phytoplankton. However, little work has been done in situ due to the limitation of crude enzyme preparation methods. In this study, three enzyme preparation methods, high-speed centrifugation （HC, 〈10 000 g）, ultracentrifugation （UC, 70000 g）, and ultrafiltration （UF） with 100 kit molecular weight cutoff, were compared using two diatom species （Asterionellopsis glacialis and Thalassiosira weissflogii）, and two dinoflagellate species （Alexandriura catenella and Prorocentrum donghaiense） as experimental materials together with field samples collected from Xiamen Harbor, China. The results showed that HC is the best method to prepare crude enzymes for glutamine synthetase activity （GSA） in diatom species and diatom-dominant samples, while UF is the best method to extract GS from dinoflagellate species and dinoflagellate-dominant samples. For the HC method, the optimal centrifugal speed and time were 10 000 g and 35 min, respectively, and under these conditions, the highest GSA was obtained in all samples. This study indicates that both methods （HC and UF） overcome the limitation of centrifugal speed and could be applied to in situ GSA analysis, especially at sea.

Blockchain-Based Data Acquisition with Privacy Protection in UAV Cluster Network

The unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)self-organizing network is composed of multiple UAVs with autonomous capabilities according to a certain structure and scale,which can quickly and accurately complete complex tasks such as path planning,situational awareness,and information *** to the openness of the network,the UAV cluster is more vulnerable to passive eavesdropping,active interference,and other attacks,which makes the system face serious security *** paper proposes a Blockchain-Based Data Acquisition(BDA)scheme with privacy protection to address the data privacy and identity authentication problems in the UAV-assisted data acquisition *** UAV cluster has an aggregate unmanned aerial vehicle(AGV)that can batch-verify the acquisition reports within its administrative *** successful verification,AGV adds its signcrypted ciphertext to the aggregation and uploads it to the blockchain for *** are two chains in the blockchain that store the public key information of registered entities and the aggregated reports,*** security analysis shows that theBDAconstruction can protect the privacy and authenticity of acquisition data,and effectively resist a malicious key generation center and the public-key substitution *** also provides unforgeability to acquisition reports under the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Problem(ECDLP)*** performance analysis demonstrates that compared with other schemes,the proposed BDA construction has lower computational complexity and is more suitable for the UAV cluster network with limited computing power and storage capacity.

Catalytic fast pyrolysis of Kraft lignin with HZSM-5 zeolite for producing aromatic hydrocarbons

Catalytic fast pyrolysis （CFP） of Kraft lignins with HZSM-5 zeolite for producing aromatics was investigated using analytical pyrolysis methods. Two Kraft lignins were fast pyrolyzed in the absence and presence of HZSM-5 in a Curie-point pyrolyzer. Without the catalyst, fast pyrolysis of lignin predominantly produced phenols and guaiacols that were derived from the subunits of lignin. However, the presence of HZSM-5 changed the product distribution dramatically. As the SiO2/ A1203 ratio of HZSM-5 decreased from 200 to 25 and the catalyst-to-lignin ratio increased from 1 to 20, the lignin- derived oxygenates progressively decreased to trace and the aromatics increased substantially. The aromatic yield increased considerably as the pyrolysis temperature increased from 500~C to 650~C, but then decreased with yet further increase of pyrolysis temperature. Under optimal reaction conditions, the aromatic yields were 2.0 wt.% and 5.2 wt.% for the two lignins that had effective hydrogen indexes of 0.08 and 0.35.

Currently,many biometric systems maintain the user’s biometrics and templates in plaintext format,which brings great privacy risk to uses’biometric *** are unique and almost unchangeable,which means it is a great concern for users on whether their biometric information would be *** address this issue,this paper proposes a confidential comparison algorithm for iris feature vectors with masks,and develops a privacy-preserving iris verification scheme based on the El Gamal encryption *** our scheme,the multiplicative homomorphism of encrypted features is used to compare of iris features and their mask ***,this paper improves the Hamming distance of iris features,which makes the similarity matching work better than existing *** results confirm the practicality of our proposed schemes in real world applications,that is,for the iris feature vectors and masks of 2048 bits,nearly 12 comparisons can be performed per second.
